STRUGGLING Cleveland Browns looks set for more woe when they travel to high-flying Cinncinati Bengals in the Thursday night NFL showdown.

The Bengals have made the best start in their history with seven straight wins while the Browns, who are without starting quarterback Josh McCown tonight, have just two victories from their eight matches.

The home side are strong favourites at 2-11 with Marathonbet to triumph and 10-11 at Betfred to score over 28.5 points against a side they spanked 30-0 in the same fixture last season.

Browns are outsiders at 24-5 with Betfair while the any time touchdown betting is led by Bengals stars Jeremy Hill and AJ Green at 8-11 with bet365 and Tyler Eifert at 11-10 with William Hill.

At the Paris Masters tennis there's some cracking third-round matches today including Andy Murray in a Davis Cup Final dress rehearsal against David Goffin, Kei Nishikori versus Richard Gasquet and John Isner taking on Roger Federer.

There's also the finale of England's final cricket Test with Pakistan among the sporting highlights so let's hear all your tips and thoughts and good luck with your bets.

This is more of a interest for tomorrows game as I’ve got the Bengals in the main bets over the weekend.

The Cleveland Browns will be in Cincinnati for their first division square off this season. Dubbed The Battle of Ohio, Johnny Manziel will be the starting QB for the Browns and despite thinking he might put up some good numbers with DE Carlos Dunlap out for the Bengals who leads the teams is sacks. There are literally no markets available for any Cleveland WR’s or TE Gary Barnidge at the time of writing this, but putting trust in Johnny Football is probably not something I’d be inclined to do anyway. The Browns will also be travelling with a depleted secondary. Joe Haden is one of the best DB’s in the league and will miss the game due to concussion, as will SS Donte Whitner, and DB Jordan Poyer. Haden and Whitner are both 1st string with Poyer back up to FS Tashaun Gipson who has had a niggling ankle injury but is expected to play.

The Browns led the Cardinals on Sunday by 10 points at the half but once more had a second half to forget, not managing to get a point on the board, with the Cards coming back to score 24 points and win 34-20, with Carson Palmer totaling 374 yards with 4TD’s.

The Bengals will be looking to go 8-0 for the first time in franchise history and would love to do it against their bitter Brown rivals. AJ Green was targeted 17 times last week in Pittsburgh but they were fighting for the win. He ended up with 118 yards and a TD and leads the team in yards, targets, receptions, longest reception, yards after catch and first downs. With the Browns depleted secondary I think Green will get his fair share of the looks, but I’m going to be with somebody who I feel has a bit of value here despite the Browns not giving much to TE’s on the season.

TE Tyler Eifert has been Andy Daltons next best man to throw to this year. With numbers putting him in the upper ranks of TE’s on the season. He has had a bit of inconsistency during his last two games on the road but has produced this total in every home game this season and leads the team in TDs and second in most receiving ares behind Green. I personally think that you could pick, Green, Eifert or Jones to cover their line, but with Sanu sneaking in the snaps you’re not sure which one will have the bigger game. Marvin Jones is their real deep threat and could probably cover his line with one deep pass @ 50.5 @ WillHill, but I’ll be on Eifert who is a key man on any down and Daltons current safety blanket.

    Thursday Night Football – 1:25AM

    Tyler Eifert (Bengals) Over 48.5 Receiving Yards @ 10/11 @ WillHill – 2.2 points

Thunder had a meltdown. Just checked ESPN. Up 97-91 with two minutes to go and they lose 103-98. NBA can do one one for a few days. Thought that was nailed on with the Raptors on back to back road games. Looked good for 46 minutes at least haha

    Oklahoma City Thunder -2
    Golden State Warriors -2.5

    0.86/1 @ Skybet – 3 points **LOSE**

Gio Bernard also has a very reachable total with Over 66.5 Rush and Receiving Yards @ 5/6 @ PP. Seems like a bet the chief would fancy.

Spurs win every quarter then lose the last by 10, they were 19-2 down in the first and ended up coming back to win the first 23-22 – what a waste of time that was.

    Early Aussie DOUBLE:

    – Melbourne UTD ML (Aus NBL B’ball)
    – Adelaide UTD Draw-No-Bet (A-League)

    Double pays $2.30 (1.5 points)

Melb UTD are 7-0 this year whilst Sydney are 2-5. It’s 1st vs last and UTD just beat them in the reverse fixture by double digits just the other day.

As for the footy, well Adelaide are in bad form but Coopera Stadium is a fortress to them and it’s hardest ground to get an away win in the A-League. Melb City were exposed by Newcastle last week and this is the Reds best chance to get their 1st win of the season. At very worst it will be a draw.

    Efes @ Liboral Kutxa (7:45pm)

Efes is one of the top teams in Euroleague this year and despite a lot of changes from last year’s roster, they still look like winning these types of games!

Coach, Ivkovic is a great tactician and I’m not sure why Laboral is such big favourite. Efes have no injury worries as far as I can see!

Yes Liboral have home court advantage but they aren’t better than Efes and at 7/4 this game stood out? I was expecting the odds to be around Evens so I’m happy to take the 7/4 offered.

I’m not touching OKC for a while after they threw away an 8 point lead in the 4th qtr yesterday at home to lose by 5… Useless. Westbrook kept going for 3 pointers and kissing whilst Raptors kept making 2’s to hit the lead. Sometimes I think these players are daft… Leading by 5 or so with a minute to go why keep shooting 3’s?

Last night I put a last minute bet on Magic +10.5 and 76ers +9 @ about 3.50. Small stakes just to experiment a bit, and that bet won.

I wont be counting that to my NBA stats, but backing the underdogs is definitely something I’m going to look at doing again. There’s definitely value in backing the dogs.

For anyone willing to part with some small change for good returns, I really think this could be worth a punt…

Byern Munich travel to Madrid this evening off the back of a good start to their campaign, they have won 2 from 3, losing to a strong Fenerbahce side by 7 points. In contrast, Madrid have had a shaky start to their campaign losing 2 from 3 and haven’t looked too convincing in the Spanish league.

I’m sure Madrid will turn the corner soon but they face a tricky opponent in Byern and at odds of 10/1, it’s worth a small stakes punt.

Byern Munich @ 10/1 – low stakes (will not be counted in my running totals)

    Good luck…we’ll need it!

  37. Jordan 8 years ago

Really tempted on Travis Benjamin to score a TD for the Browns tonight but can I put trust in Johnny Football? They have had a good connection with Manziel throwing a TD to him in both games Manziel has started in this season (3 in total). Manziel loves to scramble and when he does he’s been looking deep for Benjamin who is clocked as one of the fastest players in the NFL. I don’t think it’ll be a shutout and if anyone is to score a TD for the Browns I’d say a deep ball to Benjamin, or a red zone target for TE Gary Barnidge. Trouble is, will the Browns get in the red zone tonight? Think the Eifert wincast @ 13/10 is a good bet but seeing the Anytime TD Doubles @ Skybet, this has a reasonable chance.

Travis Benjamin (Browns) & Tyler Eifert (Bengals) Anytime TD Double @ 11/2 @ Skybet – 0.5 a point

  38. MSD 8 years ago

I wasn’t going to bet tonight, but I’ve changed my mind.. just the 1.

    Thunder @ Bulls.

It’s difficult to pick a winner here with both teams looking to bounce back.

Bull’s have had 1 extra day’s training on OKC (as they didn’t play yesterday) more time to work on defence, after getting uncharacteristically demolished by the Hornets.

OKC do have the ability to score heavily against any team, but I’m going to take my chances here as I think the Bull’s will set up with a solid enough defence to keep the scoring down, and hopefully dictate the pace of the game in front of a home crowd.

    Under 211 Total Points @ 1.90 – 1 point.

  39. BigB 8 years ago

Jordan, throwing in my 2 cents, I don’t actually think Manziel has been that bad a QB this year. He has completed 56% of his passes averaging 7.86 yards. But you probably know that already if you had a little browse on ESPN! The problem I feel with backing Browns WRs to get a TD is that they simply don;t throw the ball enough with Manziel at QB. In his 2 starts this season, he threw 24 and 15 attempts. Although to be fair to him, he actually threw 3 TDs in those games, but I think here is where stats can be a bit misleading because I think one or 2 of his TDs cames from long yardage situations where its more because of either blown coverages or yards after catch, not because he threw them open.

A bet that has my attention is Manziel’s rushing yards, you eluded to it to the fact that he likes to scramble, he has had 1 scramble in ALL games he has played, including those where he played like 2 minutes or half a quarter. The game against the Jets, he had 35 yards from 5 rushes. I would like to think the Browns will make Manziel roll out the pocket because he isn;t good enough or tall enough to play within the pocket… so what is your thought on the over 20.5 manziel rushing yars @10/13 ?

BigB. All three of his TD’s to Benjamin have been Over 40 yards. Not blown coverage either. I remember him scrambling against the Titans and throwing a bomb to Benjamin who had the run on his cover. Also against the Jets he just blew right past Cromartie. Like I said he’s one of the fastest recorded players this season so to me its not just a case on him being wide open from blown coverage. He has the speed to get past you.

Also pass attempts might be low, but you have to consider how much they might be losing by at some stages. Certainly won’t be able to stay in the game running the ball with Crowell. I originally thought his pass yards @ 180.5 were very much reachable but that wild be a wild bet to put that much faith. Rush yards is 50/50. Carlos Dunlap is apparently out so that’s a big pass rusher missing. I think a lot of his plays will be play action, bootlegs, whatever, and Benjamin is the biggest threat for them down the field with Andrew Hawkins and Brian Hartline out.
