REAL MADRID'S collapse and a lack of goals at Copenhagen downed my two bets last night.
The Super Single – Dortmund to win and Real -1 – looked good when the Spaniards led 2-0 but inexplicably threw it away against Poles who had been whipping boys until then.
It was two out of three on the Top Treble. Sevilla to score 2+ and Bayer not to lose came in but both to score at Copenhagen v Leicester was a loser. Should have taken fans of both sides both to snore – the game was that bad.
Well done to Jordan whose Monaco to score 2+ tip landed while Greg got some of the early goals he wanted in the Champions League.
So we move from the Champions League to the Europa League and as everyone knows that's not my favourite tournament.
Games include Fenerbahce v Man United and Southampton against an Inter Milan side that's just sacked Frank de Boer. And of course there is Zenit v Dundalk.
It's difficult to call Man U these days so I won't and the Saints game will depend on how Inter react to the manager going and what team they put out. A full-strength Inter could be a bit of value at almost 5-1 as they have a bit to prove.
My Super Single last time out in the Europa League was Zenit to win at Dundalk with over 2.5 match goals. The Russians suffered a scare before running out 3-1 winners with two late goals.
Dundalk have been a credit to the competition with four points and a goal in every game but a visit to St Petersburg represents their toughest test. This should be a comfortable home win and as a Super Single I'm doubling Zenit -2AH with Sparta Prague not to lose at home to Hapoel Beer Sheva.
The Czechs won 1-0 in Israel which was a bit of a surprise. Hapoel are a bit hapless on the road and haven't won this season in the Champions League qualifiers or Europa League. They should win again but for the double I'm taking them not to lose.
Nice entertain Red Bull Salzburg as they bid to do the double over the Austrians and while they were a possible Super Single at just under evens I've decided to put them on the Top treble with Schalke at home to Krasnodar and Villarreal at home to Osmanlispor.
Jordan is in agreement with me about Nice so check out his good write-up. Schalke have maximum points from their games and won away to Krasnodar and this is a chance to seal their last-16 place then rest players.
Villarreal were held 2-2 in Turkey but at home are a different animal and as we know the Spanish teams treat this tournament seriously and one of them (Sevilla) usually wins it.
One word of warning though – the treble is taken on the assumption the home sides field strong teams. If you can wait for conformation do so.
My both to score treble is based on stats and features three early games. If that comes in I may add a btts double or treble for the later games.

Monaco did the business early on last night so there were no problems all in all. For the third day in a row I imagine the thread will be dominated by European football.
Nice have hit a bit of form with five wins on the bounce including their 1-0 victory in Austria. It’s seven wins from eight in total with their only loss in Russia which ended 5-2 against Krasnodar. Similar to CSKA last night, Salzburg haven’t kept a clean sheet in their last 14 Europa league clashes and in all fairness haven’t been the Salzburg of a few seasons past for some time.
Nice have scored eight goals in their last two since beating Salzburg so should be well up for this at home. They really need the 3 points if they want to progress to the next stage and this is their best chance.
Alassane Plea has five goals in his last three for Nice including the winner in Austria, he is value to score @ 7/4 @ Various if he starts, but my money will be on the well known bad boy Mario Balotelli who made his return last weekend after a groin injury and scored. Also just a heads up for those that like betting on corners, it appears that Bet365 have made corner handicap and/or most corners available in-play on certain matches. I’ve found them very useful recently especially the corner handicap market as you can typically apply anything up to +4 corners to a losing team at an odds against price (usually around 5/4) and naturally as they chase the game they start to acquire corners of their own, which when added to the handicap is usually enough to beat the favorite’s count.
They’re definitely worth keeping an eye on tonight at certain intervals on a card where a minefield is expected with corners being a possible solution.

@mr-fixit just an early doors heads up on something I’ve spotted for the site on Saturdays fixture list, looks like this one has some meat on the bone.
With Derby seemingly upping their game, we have an early kickoff away to Wolves. I think the last time we played them on tv, I’m sure they beat us, but I will look more into that over the next few days, so I shall draw your attention to Sheffield Wednesday.
Derby picked up a fabulous 2 nil at home to the owls at the weekend, whilst I was over the moon with the result, I stuck by my guns for the benefit of the site and tipped an unders 2.5 tmg’s @ 3/5. Not a great price but it landed again.
Well, Sheff Wed at home are 7/10 with bet365 to beat Ipswich and aside from Ipswich winning 2 nil to Burton 4 matches back, their last 7 is a mixed bag between draws and losses. Sheff Wed meanwhile have had some quite solid form of late apart from last week, but don’t let that result fool you. They went toe to toe with Derby and whilst our front line created many gilt edged chances, so did sheff wed. Both Derby goals come from set-pieces ( which we’ve been terrible with lately – and both from defenders ). To give you an idea of how good it was from a neutrals perspective, go on youtube and see the extended highlights of the last match.
The man of the match was Scott Carson – Derby’s keeper and Steve McClaren said his performance gave Derby 3 points – meaning Sheff Wed could/should of had 3+ goals. That game could easily of been 3 or 4 goals apiece. Sheff Wed came at Derby early and kept us on the back foot for much of the match. How Derby managed to eek out a 1st half goal and keep a clean sheet for ninety minutes is beyond me. we then had another rams goal, but the scoreline really did not tell the whole picture. Mr “clusterf*ck Keogh ” made a goaline block that also hit his hand – which should of been a penalty and possibly could of seen red but Sheff Wed carved out chance after chance, Carson was terrific though with some full stretch finger tip saves. I know the owls keeper had his bar walloped and did a couple of good saves but really, Sheff Wed should of easily of taken a point at the ipro, if not more. They were that good. Their speed with which they built from the back and countered Derby left us in a mess and on any other day would of got 3, 4 maybe even 5 goals.
That 2 nil loss must of been a sucker punch to them because they dominated most of that match. I therefore cannot see any other result other than a Sheff Wed win against Ipswich. I know its a bit short at 7/10 but look at the extended highlights, they were terrific, cannot possibly see Ipswich getting anything from that match.
I’ll be dropping my pot onto that game come Saturday. I should hopefully be on hand with a Wolves/Derby preview. The gaffer has said he’s pleased with our last performance but has re-iterated that there is a lot more to come from derby. I agree.

2 quite equally matched sides, Norwich are gunning for a top 6, and Leeds have slowly but steadily improved over the past 2 seasons. I don’t think Leeds will win personally but btts might be worth looking at.
I read there were a few problems in the Norwich dressing room after the 5-0 defeat last week while Leeds have been going strong past few weeks. Leeds not to lose could be the bet.
Ah Bolivia…another slow match ebbs away to a quiet ending: 7 goals, just the 1 red card but with 10 (yes TEN) yellows to keep the ref on his toes.
It really does beg the question where the hell do they get the men in black from and why would they do it…Death Row, Guantanamo Bay??? Who knows but I hope they get danger money.
