HARRY KANE left it late and Cove Rangers left it late but in the end it was a profitable night for the Super Single.
I had 1pt on Spurs to win and Kane to net at any time (scorecast, wincast, whatever you want to call it) and did three goals bets on the Fort William v Cove Rangers Scottish Cup tie which broke even as the Aberdeen side won 4-0.
My both to score treble became a double after the Hyde game was abandoned but I was a Nancy goal short anyway at Lens.
Tuesday’s a busy night with eight Champions League ties, a full Championship card and a couple of League One matches and Scottish Cup replays. I’ve posted a separate Champions League preview and have to say overall it’s not the easiest of cards.
Anyway let’s start with a btts treble – I can see Galatasaray getting at last a point at Benfica but as they don’t always travel well I’m on goals. PSV v Wolfsburg could be a high scorer with the Dutch winning 6-3 at the weekend and the Germans capable of netting although again they’ve been struggling on the road.
Complete the treble with Burnley v Fulham in the Championship. You could almost pick any game from this division but I’ve taken two sides in good scoring form and who have quality strikers in form.
I’m always reluctant to do WDW bets on midweek English league games but I’m risking 1pt on Ipswich and Coventry and completing a Top Treble with Shakhtar Donetsk. Ipswich have been disappointing this season but have suffered just one home defeat so can kickstart their campaign against a Bolton outfit with two points away and slumped in the bottom three.
Coventry have sparked to life after three 0-0 draws in four games. A 2-2 draw with Swindon was followed by a confidence-boosting 3-2 defeat of Peterborough from 2-0 down at the weekend. Tony Mowbray could hand Joe Cole a debut tonight and with Adam Armstrong a handful up front his side should take care of a Barnsley outfit on a run of five league defeats – the last three without scoring.
Shakhtar could be risky but after three CL defeats they must beat Malmo and home advantage should see them through. The Ukrainians have 10 in a row domestically and will take heart from the fact the Swedes lost at Red Bull Salzburg and Celtic in the qualifiers.
For the Super Single I though about Atletic Madrid -1, Sevilla drw no bet and Sheffield Wednesday at home to Brighton.
In the end I’ve decided to go with two bets on Wolves – Wolves to score 2+ and to win at Bristol City. The Robins were terrible against Fulham at the weekend as they shipped four first-half goals and have won one in six.
Wolves returned to form with a 2-0 weekend win at Birmingham and the display of on-loan Newcastle man Mike Williamson was hailed. With the centre-half keeping it tight at the back and the likes of Benik Akobe impressing at the other end Wolves look big at 2-1. I’ll have one point on that and 1pt on the to score 2+ as they have done at Fulham, Derby and Birmingham on their last three road trips.
Hopefully the new site launch is days away. We hoped to start on Sunday but there was a technical hitch that needs sorted. We’ll put a post giving full details on how to join but meanwhile you can try to win a year’s subscription by commenting on that post – and please remember virtually all tips will remain free.
