I USED to get frustrated when I read articles in the Racing Post that finished with the advice: Recommendation – no bet.
But now I can see where they're coming from. Last night, for example, I put up some tips and while I stressed the games were tough to call maybe I should have insisted “no bet”.
However, I'm sure punters would be fairly annoyed if they get to the end of a story then find out the writer couldn't come to a conclusion.
But that's the way it goes sometimes. If a game looks a really close contest you either leave them alone or tip a draw.
That's easier to do on a night when there are plenty of matches but I defy anyone to look at Tuesday's coupon and see four or five teams that stand out.
Middlesbrough might have – until their inexplicable defeat at home to Bristol City on Saturday – and I'd have fancied Leicester strongly if it wasn't for Leeds' superb win against Crystal Palace.
So best bets in the Championship could be on-form Millwall at off-form Wolves and Watford at a Sheffield Wednesday who have lost four in a row.
Leaders Cardiff have a tough test at Derby while Palace will be looking to return to winning ways against a Hull side that let us down at home to Burnley at the weekend.
The one game in League One looks a strong possibility of a home win for a Doncaster side who have racked up three successives in a row. Doncaster tackle an Oldham side who on a poor run.
In the English Premier League we have Aston Villa v Reading and Sunderland v QPR. Villa defended superbly to hold Arsenal at the weekend but Reading will be a different game – one they are favourites to win – and a difficult task against a side unlucky to lose at Wigan at the weekend.
Harry Redknapp takes charge of QPR for the first time and he's up against the new favourite in the sack race, Marin O'Neill. His side have really been struggling and if ‘Arry can work his magic this could be an away win. But it might safer going QPR draw no bet as well as Reading draw no bet.
In the SPL it looks just as tough with no obvious winners in the three matches. And I know I've been sitting on the fence so much it's falling down.
There are games scattered across the continent although I'm always a bit wary of cup clashes because most of the big guns field weakened teams.
In Serie A Lazio should edge out Udinese and are a best 20-23 at boylesports to do so while in the Bundesliga Schalke (10-11, Paddy Power) should win at Hamburg.
I'd normally be all over Hannover at home to promoted Greuther Furth but how will they react to losing 5-0 at Bayern at the weekend after being downed 2-1 at home to Freiburg. Hannover are 7-10 at BetVictor but need to regain my confidence.
Champions Borussia Dortmund are no bigger than 1-6 (William Hill) at home to Fortuna Dusseldorf while in Copa del Rey Malaga are 3-10 with BetVictor to see off Cacereno at home and Real Madrid 1-10 with bet365 against Alcoyano at the Bernabeu.
So here are tonight's tips and my warning to everyone is: Take it easy. I've put up five draws which you can perm and I'd be surprised if there weren't a few stalemates right across the card.

Zaragoza had to be fancied to win with Celta losing all 6 away games. It is just the way it goes in football, the tip made sense but the result didn’t. That is why people should never blame tipsters when they do not win, they are offering logical advice but the team in question did not continue the form that is on paper.
Matt, spot on. I’ve said before there are bad results not necessarily bad tips. Anyone worth their salt would have looked at that game last night and tipped a Zaragoza win. However, there are always shocks in football and that’s possibly one of the attractions of the sport. If all the favourites won it would be less exciting and there probably wouldn’t be any bookies.
You could have probably said if the soccer world were a fair one, with understandable upsets thrown in once a while.
You should have seen the matches of the Russian Premier League yesterday. While at the start Amkar were 5ish to win, they score a goal, let in one in, all in the space of 2 mins by the 29′ and by half time they are 23ish to win. Rubin Kazan, widely expected to win, were held, not surprisingly to me, by a Volga side who, prior to that, had given a few top teams a very tough time, and while I figured they would go down 1-0, they did well to take a point. The only game that went as per my expectations. CSKA against Zenit in an empty stadium, simply sat in their own half for most of the time. A draw was expected and a penalty in the 85′ to CSKA ensured that.
My point is, in this kind of world, you’d probably need to have men in every league who can give you inputs not only on the ground scenario but also on what seems to be happening behind closed doors. If you could do that, you’d be too overwhelmed to cope with the data to even think of writing on this blog or in your newspaper columns. More importantly, if you did have enough money to manage such a network, you’d probably think along the lines of being a bookmaker yourself rather than sharing your tips with us.
So, don’t fret too much Mr Fixit. Some things will go wrong by design and there is not a damned thing you can do about it. That’s what easy money does and so far seems to be winning. We can just hope that we bet on matches whose results have not been agreed upon earlier.
Suresh, I agree with what you say. I concentrate mainly on the UK leagues with some continental tips put up mainly on a Sunday or in midweek. To tip any match you have to have some knowledge of the teams and the league they play in, team news etc, and there is only so much one person can do. We have people on here betting on some weird and wonderful leagues and individually they can keep up with certain ones. But there is nothing better than inside knowledge and anyone is welcome to post news and tips about teams in the country they live in or even better the team they support.
I seen a few weeks ago that Andrea McLean was to join the daily record, does this mean we’ll see you appearing on Loose Women sometime in the future? :-)
John, Andrea has joined the Record and I don’t have anything against loose women. But she’s not doing the tips so I don’t think I should be doing the programme.
Good work with the tips Mr Fix it. I have been following the site for a good few years now but yet to post much but keep up the good work.
Just been given a £20 free bet by 888 sport. Would usually put it on at least 15-1 multiple but after a disastorous weekend could do with any sort of return. Hoping I have played it fairly safe by picking teams to score only. Odds are poor for each around 1.2 – 1.3 per team but would rather pick a team just to score rather tahn a heavy odds on team to win. Anyway 10 teams all to score tonight –
Brighton
Charlton
Cardiff
Leicester
Middlesborogh
Watford
Wolves
Blackpool
Ross County
Dundee Utd
Only comes in at just under 6-1 but would get £115 profit from free bet. Also like the look of your treble so gone with that
Neil, thanks for posting. Teams to score or oover 0.5 goals in a game are good bets but you need to stake quite high to make it worthwhile. You’ve had to take a tenfold for a 6-1 return whereas I wouldn’t anything less than 10-1.

Done a trixie on 3 draws. Took your 2 at sunderland and derby but threw in aberdeen. Also done a wee double on villa and boro. Can’t remember seeing such hard games to pick, from a decent amount to pick from. Anyhoo fingers crossed and good luck! :)
Knottsy, I thought that from the first time I looked at the card yesterday. Really tough set of fixtures.
Wood to score for Millwall alone looks a good bet!
Yeah did think 6-1 seemed a bit on the light side for 10 picks.1st time I have looked into this type of bet and having done some research i noticed that so far this season on 3 occasions out of 13 every home team in the premiership has scored in a round of fixtures . Not sure what the odds would have been and I suppose any of the big guns at home would have been very short but even if around 8/9 -1 then not a bad return. Im guessing lot better odds in Championship aswell given so competitive and out of the 18 rounds of fixtures so far the home team has scored on 3 occasions
Neil, some good stats there. It’s a decent bet for someone who can maybe throw £20 or £30 at it.
Once again thank you to Mr. Fixit for the tips. I’ve been investing according to his picks for a while with a nice profit and I thougt I would share my stakes for today with the rest of his readers.
All I need are for Mr. Fixit to be correct on 4 out of 11 to break close to even and 5 correct will make me a 17 % profit. 6 and over are + 40 % profit.
Nottingham / 2.67 % stake (bankroll)
Millwall / 2.16 %
Doncaster / 3.16 %
Lazio / 3.38 %
Schalke / 3.43 %
Watford / 2.38 %
Sunderland draw / 1.92 %
Aston Villa draw / 1.78 %
Derby draw / 1.87 %
Dundee draw / 1.91 %
Ross County draw / 1.93 %
I do not invest in trebles.
Go Mr. Fixit!
Yeah think ill do it from now until the end of season out of interest and see how I get on. To be honest I have had a bad run lately on teams outright to win so at least this is a bit different and keeps it going right up till final whistle.
So far at say £10 on each league per round fixtures. Even average of 8/1 on premiership would have returned £270 from £130 and at 12/1 for championship total of £390 from £180. Not bad return.
Did also look into all away teams to score but none it has not happened at all in premiership and only couple of times in Championship.
After Rubin Kazan let me down yesterday, I will be taking some advice from Mr Fixit and stick to fixtures in UK, Spain, Germany and Italy.

£2500 back for my £10 christmas paid for lol
also treble on the draws.
Btts pays a best £118 to £10 stake at Bet365
Ok just a couple of bets on today. We are def due an accumulator for btts Paul.
I’ve gone £43 on btts and £10 straight win on the draws which pay £4385.
Lets hope!!
Just hope the early ko doesn’t screw us over lol. It would good for btts before ht that way we only have 4 teams to worry about.
Chris, I hope so to but quite fancied the German game so here’s hoping for a couple of early goals.
4 games to worry about I meant
Paul if my draws come up its party time. Night out in Glasgow and ill pay!
Chris, OK I’ll hold you to that.
Or head to the Boulevard
Chris, ah the Bouly. Had a few mad nights in there a long time ago. Now I’m only there for the odd curry.
Sessegnon, Austin and McGinn to score at anytime
BTTS – Aston Villa, Leeds, Blackpool, Aberdeen and Ross County
few bets for an interest the night
50p on stoke, Everton, west brom, man city,spurs/Liverpool draw
50p btts Brighton Charlton Leeds Boro Hamburg Lazio Swansea monchengladbach bilbao
80p Cardiff Watford millwall PSG Dortmund hannover Lazio Bilbo
20p on 6 draws at Sunderland Villa Charlton Leeds Blackpool Aberdeen
just got chubby brown and Kevin bridges dvds plus 8 others so will prob just check ht and have a wee chuckle watching them YFB :)
Done both teams to score . I pick 2 sets of 5 in the champion ship every time there is 10 games or more playing in the champ . It’s about 14 to 1 for 5 btts . And it’s out of 18 rounds its happend 7 times or 7 rounds out of 18 when 5 games or more were both have scored in the championship .
John, it’s all about avoiding teams who might not score on the night.
Three aways
Watford
Cardiff
Millwall
20/1 William Hill.
Hannover Schalke and Dortmund is a decent treble
Mainz have scored. Just waiting for the home team now!
As long as I was to hit one btts acc in every six I’d be happy.
BTTS Fourfold
Barnsley/Burnley, Derby/Palace, Wolves/Millwall, Aberdeen/Inverness.
No real logic behind it tbh, championship is generally high scoring, teams picked tend to score and concede and the Dons and ICT will be very close run, two attacking teams. About 6.5/1 in shop.
That’s what you get if you stick with just the champion 7 out of 18 isn’t bad and at 14 to 1 it’s very good odds . It’s nearly 50% win rate
John, what do you mean by 7 out of 18 and a near 50 per cent win rate?
Jt what you mean? Btts in the championship?
Unusual bet for me tonight, I’ve done 6 draws, Sunderland and 5 c’ship games, I’ve done £1 bets tbl’s and upwards (41 bets) and £4 on the accy – if I get one treble I almost cover myself, if I get 4 I’m looking at ~£250 profit… If 6 come in I’m taking dec off
Darren, I’ve done a few draws perms myself. It’s worth a try for small stakes when games look so tight.
Accrington btts up after 5 mins haha that’s the ones u want but shame a never took it
Craig, that’s what I like to see and the early German game is now but still a long way to go. Ross County v St Mirren is the one I’m worrying about as I don’t think much is happenign there.
Had to check the bet to list teams
Sunderland
Derby
Hull
Ipswich
Sheff wed
Wolves
We will take the own goal Paul. That’s 2 up. Not happy with the two 0-0 but
5 Teams down 3 to go, just need a Derby goal and one each from Wolves and Millwall…not happy with the stats for that game though, not a single shot on target for either team!! Wolves have had both teams scoring in their last 5 home games as well :/
cld all change wi an early gl tho, got 4/6 draws up at ht wi 2 1-0’s 20p for £280 haha can always fream eh. btts looking ok apart fi Charlton Peterborough, 2/7 wi gls in the other 4.
Shocker, Dortmund must’ve bust a few coupons.
Oh god the bad luck continues , schalke lost and it was the 1st game of my acc bet , goodnight everybody.
Draws are looking ok so far
Chris, if it stays like it is I’ve done well on the draws – but I know it won’t!
It doesn’t look like Wolves or Millwall want to score tonight
Not over yet but I look to be making a nice profit on Mr. Fixits tips again :-)
5 draws going well so far mr fixit looks like st st etienne psg might beat me.
Just need Dundee to score
Al, that would be nice. I’ve got a few draws lines running. One of them needs a Dundee Utd goal for seven out of seven as it stands. But I fear a couple of late goals will deny me. They always do.
c’mon Burnley!! got 2pound on Doncaster, millwall, Middlesbrough, Watford, Charlton and Burnley. would return 338
Well done way Watford boss!!
Gazza, thanks, Watford were a decent price tonight.
draws looking very very good.
Dundee utd have drawn 4 games in last 5
god came up on flash scores dundee utd 2 motherwell 2 only for the goal to be taken away.
James, it’s finished 1-2 unfortunately.
What are Malaga doing ahhhhh
Villa boro double up and got two draws from my trixie up. The two i took from your five paul! If i had taken ross county instead of aberdeen wuda been a huge winner but thems the breaks and still a very profitable night :) Very close with the draws paul but 3 outta 5 will still pay well and super single up once again, another solid night mate :)
Knottsy, it was close to being really good on the draws. I ended up with 3 out of five that up up here for one treble and five from seven on another line. That paid £300 for £1 unit stakes – but at one point I was one goal away from about £20k.
Awrite m8 wat were the total stakes on this bet
1plus2, which one?
The both of the perms 3 from 5 and 5 from 7 u got up
1plus2, all £2 unit stakes on first, £1 on the second plus £1 extra accas..
Perms do my nut in lol so the total outlay would hace been ?
1plus2, total outlay for both bets was £63.
cheers m8
A huge thanks from Denmark for the 7 out of 11 I invested in as shown earlier. 64 % profit for the day and bankroll increased by 17.5 %.
Keep up the good work Mr. Fixit – I’ll be seeing you tomorrow :-)
had nice win on the double chance. good way o doing it if fancy a team but just not sure. had qpr millwall palace watford motherwell. 10er returned 97. ammo for tom.!!
wish I had Burnley on the double chance. more frustrating fact they were winning too. 138/1 6fold would’ve gone down a treat. but the losing streak continues instead…well done again tonight though Paul, solid night.
Trying to predicted 5 draws is like trying to predicted the end of the world, infact you would stand a better chance predicting the end of the world.
John, I’ve had five draws up a few times. Tonight it was three out of five and not too far away from five. And if you’re asking about pay then the answer is: Not enough!
How much do they pay you mr fix lol
Paul I see Charlie Mulgrew (virus) is a doubt for
Tomorrow. I have a funny feeling that Celtic are
Going to go out and hammer hearts tomorrow.
Chris, I think there will be a big reaction and they’ve had some big wins at Tynecastle recently. Hard to imagine they’ll hammer but certainly like the look of Celtic at 4-5 and even Celtic -1.
Which bookies does the over 0.5 goals bet?
Matt, most of the big firms such as Ladbrokes, William Hill, Paddy Power and Coral do over 0.5 goals.
Wanyama anytime is 11/2 with Coral and 7/2 elsewhere.
Get ur mortgage on Celtic tom night. A big reaction on its way to Tynecastle. Wee Lenny wants the team to come out the traps flying. Anything can happen in football but really, really fancy Celtic especially after what happened at the weekend.
Not worth it unless you really are putting your mortgage on it, wich if you are you need the find some help and your head looking at.
Looking forward to tomorrow nights tips, assuming there will be some of course, hopefully my team Spurs can sink the reds and give me bragging rights at football friday night :-)
John, tips will be up in the morning as usual.
soccervista picked 7 winners from 8 picks, how can you say there were no stand out picks, sounds like sore loser to me
John, well done soccervista. My advice to you would be to follow their tips and not mine. If you look at my piece I said I was struggling to see four or five teams that stood out. That was a fact whether you ended picking winners or not. I standy by those comments. How many sides in the UK leagues won by more than one goal last night. Not many. I landed a 2-1 Super Single and a 40-1 draws treble and I was quite happy with that.
had a treble villa,watford,boro@10s and accum + doncaster@20
only villa won by one goal.
The Dane
Like the way that you bet and the idea of putting on singles as opposed to doubles and trebles for all of Fix its tips. Am I right in saying then that it is always singles you do. Also I take it that you adjust your stake accordingly depending on the odds of the bet. How is it you calculate your stakes ?
Cheers
Neil H, if you do singles and doubles to make it worth your while you have bet with decent stakes unless you’re happy to build a pot very slowly. I also advise people to take the least number of selections possible but it really depends on what your stake is and how much you’re looking to win. I know people happy to collect beer money with say a £20 2-1 double while others want to land the big one, betting a fiver to try to win thousands. That’s why I put up a variety of tips to try to suit all needs.
Thank you for replying. Look forward to your tips.
I’m waiting on Blackburn tonight for a draw treble- I took Sunderland-Hull last night and Aberdeen let me down.
I see plenty of draws tonight so will go with Blackburn, Chelsea, Everton and Southampton. 4 x £2 trebles and a £2 four timer.
Mystic Clegg, there could be a few again. The last four Chelsea-Fulham games have been draws but I’m going with Rafa to get the win he badly needs.
Chelsa is a bit iffy- might even drop them and do a Trixie. I should have tried that last night and left out Aberdeen.
Coral have removed anytime Goalscorer prices for Celtic game. I just phoned them up and they offered me 7/2 Wanyama anytime. I told them to get stuffed as he was 11/2 on Monday. This price change is despite the fact the price of fgs remains at 14/1.
Chris, that’s a strange one because the anytime price is calculated from the first scorer one. Must have had a run of bets on Wanyama anytime but not first.
@John Just checked soccervista and yesterday they tipped:
Aston Villa: Draw
Sunderland: Win
Schalke: Double-Chance/Win
Dortmund: Win
Eintracht Frankfurt: Win
Leicester: Win
Burnley: Win
Nottingham Forest: Win
Ross County: Double-Chance/Win
Dundee: Draw
Aberdeen: Draw
Etc, etc so it would be interesting to know which “7/8” win picks you are talking about. Not a criticism, genuinely want to know. Cheers
Striker, I’m sure John will tell us but the ones you’ve put up are mostly wrong. And no matter what John says, and just because he got a treble up, last night’s card was a tough one and I think most punters who don’t have an agenda would agree.
Mr fixit, yes that was my point, because John was suggesting that site is so good at tipping but having a quick look they tipped loads incorrectly.
Striker, John’s possibly just trying to drive some traffic there, I don’t know, but he hasn’t come back to tell us about all these winners.
John, your comments are out of order and it’s you I’d say have been bitchy. If you want to use another site you’re welcome to do so and I said that. After you commented some of their losing tips were put up, not by me, and you haven’t responded. Anyway good luck with whoever you follow.
PS. I don’t have any virtual friends but you’re loss won’t be mourned by me.
Antalyaspor to score 4 or more goals in their turkish cup match was 9/5 at paddy power, they are now 5-O up and i didn’t put money on it…how silly am i :-)
John, hindsight’s a great thing. I was telling myself that on Saturday when I talked a lot of people out of putting Celtic on accumulators but never backed Inverness at a big price myself. I did them on the handicaps though as suggested in my Record column.
being following this site and soccervista rec bets and to be honest vista bets have being more consistant for win, both good to chek against each other.
Before placing your bet carefuly chose bookmaker with best odds. Banker bets are usually with very low odds and every hundredth matters. all that site is doing is giving odds on so called bankers without any long winded artical as to why boring tastless site enjoy your new site the soccervista loyal and weel here from use soon when the site gets a few in a row wrong and use have nobody too give your sniddy remarks too
paolo im uptight just now because its suppost to be summer and Perth has been battered all morning into late evening by a tropical storm leaving me bored oot ma banger with no power
Danny, at least you get some sunshine. It’s frosty here and that’s not just John.
LOL
happened to me sunday but luckily came back before night came cos it nt summer here its freezing.
try maribor 8/15, the strongest 8/11, wba or draw 8/13, treble pays just over 3-1 looks pretty safe.
Thanks for the advice Mr Fix it ill take it on board. Ive always bet multiples and big singles but so up and down and have been on a bad run and lost a lot recently. Just looking now at having a pot and building it up slowly with equal amounts on your tips.
John, I thought you had gone away but no you keep going on and on. It’s over.
why did you take down johns meesage i checked his bets he was telling the truth, not very nice to stop him clear thing up.
Paolo, he was rattling on about last night’s games then it turns out he meant Monday’s games. Guy started to be annoying, called me a “bitch” and there’s no place for that. He’s welcome to go elsewhere. No fair or constructive comments are ever taken down.
yes he shouldnt call you bitch, but i understood wat he meant, 7/8 mon. treble and accum yesterday, think you got mix up and when he try explain you take down the messages, not fair or nice, just sayin.
Paolo, you’re welcome to your opinion but I think I gave him plenty of chances before running out of patience. What’s that site got to do with me anyway. There was no need to quote them unless he’s trying to drive traffic there.
Tried to tell everyone last night that Celtic would come out the “traps flying”………..
Joe, was pretty convinced they’d win well. Having said that Forster has just made a great save to keep it at 2-0.
A know u tipped them heavily today in the Record. Could just tell from Lennons comments that they would be right up for it and let’s be honest that’s what’s lets them down most weeks, especially at home.
