Nov 25: Johnb’s Racing Tips & Chat

Racing_WilliamHill

NO joy for Johnb on Thursday and he is now 50.59pts down for November.

He’s been there before but time’s running out to turn it around this month.

A Friday double would go a long way to retrieving the situation and I wish him luck.

Johnb says: “I have already advised Churchill for next year’s 2000 Guineas & Derby – he has been really impressive this season and my view is he will get even better next year.

“Blue Point on the other hand is harder to call for how he will progress next year. If he trains on then in my view it’s a straight fight between Blue Point & Churchill but in the Derby Churchill is the only horse for me – he gives me the same excitement as Golden Horn did.

“But to answer my question earlier the most impressive horse I have seen this year is BLUE POINT with Churchill and Annie Power a close second and third.”

Ballyoptic is a worthy favourite but 2-1 doesnt excite me to lump on. And I don’t trust horse’s that fall in hurdle races, especially last time out.

If Alanm backs it, I will back it though mr trotter

elvis Ballyoptic didn’t fall last time,
This is the problem we have with the racing media who never want to give the full picture and it’s why I have always said punters should watch races and just not rely on what they read and will never understand why people just look at form in a paper,

The form says Ballyoptic fell but anyone who watched the race will see that he jumped the hurdle well and just slipped well after the hurdle

Nice evening for myself 16/1 and 9/1 winners

    As said on yesterday’s thread

    Ballyoptic 2.10 nap 2/1

Further the better and have backed this for world Hurdle ante post after tomorrow and when most of the horses are taken out current 14/1 will be a steal.

    El bandit 3.20 NB 6/1

Same as above further the better in my eyes unbeaten horse this season and could easily upset the fav again today

    Duke arcadio 2.00 treb 4/1

I’m not taking the piss but again upped in trip looks like further will see this horse in better light decent enough opening mark too.

    Double shuffle 2.45 Yankee 9/1

Was pretty well back in a big handicap at Chelt two weeks back this isn’t anywhere near as good and if he can sort his jumping out the 9/1 available is a steal

Will be doing a flutter Friday Yankee tomo aswell with the bookies money with the usual suspect……

    Morning all
Some very good but competitive racing today at Newbury to look forward to but as its Black Friday im being dragged out to find a few bargains so will probably miss most if not all of it.

    12.30 BAGS GROOVE 3/1
Yes i know Henderson has a great record in this race and has a great chance again but Harry Fry’s yard has clicked into gear and at more favourable odds ive taken his runner here.

    2.10 UNOWHATIMEANHARRY 7/1 EW
Just cant see this one not make the frame at least and looks a decent value ew bet

    2.45 THREE MUSKETEERS 11/4 NAP
Won at this meeting last year over todays trip and drops down in class today

    3.50 ANY DRAMA 7/2
Again going for Fry in this race as Any Drama had some good bumper form last year including a respectible 6th in the Champion bumper at Aintree so hopefully hes ready to give a good account today.

    Best of luck to all

    Morning all,

Yesterday was a very poor day by my standards and I apologies to anyone who followed me. I am out today to make amends I have 5 selections today with 2 increased stake selection- very rare but they have ticked all my boxes.

    1.05 Newbury – Winner Massagot 8/1 EW

This lightly raced 5yo is rather thrown in the deep end today on chasing debut but I am happy to be a player each way at 8/1. I know that this horse has always been highly thought of and I was pointed in his direction by a friend when he broke won at Kempton back in March 2015. Straight after that win he was pitched in to a Grade 1 race where he disappointed. Last season he ran only 3 times but won on reappearance in a competitive race at Ascot. He then disappointed in his next 2 runs and was not seen again. There is no doubt this horse still has the ability to be top class and I am sure Alan King will have got him in top order for today.

    2.00 Doncaster – Tommy O’Dwyer 10/1 EW

Tommy O’Dwyer has not been seen over rules since Jan 2015 but has been making hay in the point field this year. This son of Milan recorded some decent efforts for John Ferguson in the 14/15 season before suffering an injury. However, this season he is 3 from 4 over points with the aid of some sound jumping. His mark on rules chase debut looks very lenient and in a field or relatively untired horses over fences I am happy to take my chance that Tommy O’Dwyer can use his point experience to put up a decent showing.

    3.10 Doncaster – Lough Derg Leader 5/2

I tipped this horse up on the thread a few weeks ago and was very taken by his performance at Bangor. As I thought the step up in trip suited perfectly and he ran out a comfortable winner. He makes his handicap debut today off 120 and that mark could look wrong come 3.15 today. The opposition today look below average for this class, and Lough Derg Leader stands out because he is open to loads more improvement over hurdles. The 5/2 on offer this morning looks outstanding value and I would be disappointed if he does not score today. I will be increasing my stake for this bet but as always nothing is assured.

    3.30 Newcastle – Testa Rossa 7/1 EW

I can’t resist a small bet on Testa Rossa each way today. This horse that did me a favor last time and could still be underestimated by the handicapper following only a 3lb rise after his latest win. He has found a new lease of life on Newcastle’s new all-weather surface and his attitude when hitting the front has been very impressive the last twice. This race does look competitive but if he continues to put his best hoof forward he could easily hit the frame again today.

    8.30 Dundalk – Captain Midnight 4/1 EW

I was so certain that Captain midnight would run a big race last time out a fortnight ago but he didn’t stay the mile trip and disappointed coming home in 7th. He again travelled strongly into the race and he looks primed to strike soon. The drop back to 6F tonight could be just what he needs. He has a good draw for the race tonight and Keith Moriarty’s 7lb claim means he runs of a lowly 9-5. Everything looks in place for a storming run tonight. I will be increasing my bet on Captain Midnight tonight but playing EACH WAY (7.5pt ew) as 4/1 looks value for a each way bet- but as always nothing is assured.

    Thanks and GL to all

    THE KING LOT
If the Official UK Charts are writing about us then we’re definitely official contenders. As if we thought anything less! Thanks for your support so far, please make sure you download the single and carry on giving this lot a run for their money!

The Official Christmas Number 1 Contenders 2016

    14/1
Vaults – One Day I’ll Fly Away

Two ghosts of John Lewis’ Christmas TV advert past have reached the summit on the Official Chart; can it go all the way this year and claims the Official Christmas Number 1? The act behind this year’s song – a cover of Randy Crawford’s One Day I’ll Fly Away – is South London trio Vaults, but the real star of the trailer itself is Buster the Boxer. Aww.
    *******************
    5/1
The London Hospices Choir – The Living Years

The first of many charity groups campaigning to get their track to the top of the charts for a good cause this Christmas, The London Hospices Choir are made up of patients, staff and volunteers from 18 hospices in the capital. They’ve covered Mike & The Mechanic’s touching track The Living Years in support of the hospice network – and they even have one of the band’s former co-frontmen Paul Carrack on board. Could this song replicate the success of last year’s festive chart-toppers The NHS Choir?
    *******************
    7/1
James Corden – The Greatest Gift for Christmas is Me

We never thought we would see James Corden as part of a Christmas Number 1 race, but that may well be the case in 2016. James has pulled himself away from his Carpool Karaoke shenanigans to lend his pipes to Sainsbury’s Christmas TV campaign with a track named The Greatest Gift for Christmas is Me. Is  James about to add a Christmas Number 1 to his long (long) list of accolades?
    *******************
    33/1
Sir Cliff Richard – It’s Better To Dream (Christmas Mix)

Sir Cliff has a long history of releasing songs around Christmas time, and with a lot of success, landing two festive Number 1s with Mistletoe and Wine in 1988 and Saviour’s Day in 1990. 26 years on, he’s throwing his hat into the ring with It’s Better To Dream (Christmas Mix), a re-worked version of a track on his latest album Just… Fabulous Rock ‘n’ Roll.
Cliff may have a mighty task on his hands competing in the charts in 2016, but with the song also getting a special physical release in a Christmas card(!), don’t rule him out just yet…
    *******************
    25/1
Anna Kendrick & Justin Timberlake – True Colors

Non-Christmas singles have done very well historically in the Christmas season, and this is one of the more intriguing ones that will warm your cockles. Lifted from the Trolls movie soundtrack, stars Anna Kendrick and Justin Timberlake have teamed up for a cover of Cyndi Lauper’s True Colors. We’ll be watching this one…
    ********************
    No odds yet
    Inspiral Carpets – Saturn 5

Fans of Manchester band Inspiral Carpets have launched a campaign to get the band to the top this Christmas in honour of the band’s late drummer Craig Gill, who died on November 22 at the age of 44. The group enjoyed success in the ’90s with hits such including Draggin My Down and This Is How It Feels, but it’s their 1994 song Saturn 5 that’s the focus of the #XmasNo1 Facebook campaign, which has been set up by Gill’s childhood friend, Rob McCoy.
    *******************
    11/1
The King Lot feat. The Jollyboys – Wings

Scottish rock trio The King Lot are hoping to raise their profile and help charity The MS Society with their track Wings. Teaming up with local social group The Jollyboys, the song has has already gained traction across Scottish media and has an impressive music video to boot. Scotland loves it, will the rest of the UK follow suit?
    *******************
    7/4 favourite
    The X Factor Winner’s Single

Just two out the last five Christmas Number 1s have come from X Factor winners, most recently from Ben Haenow’s Something I Need in 2014.
Do any of 2016’s favourites Matt Terry, 5 After Midnight or the incomparable Honey G have enough star power to bag the top spot this Christmas?
    *******************
    No odds yet
Terry Wogan – The Floral Dance

Fans of the late Sir Terry Wogan have launched a campaign to claim the Christmas Number 1 for the Irish DJ following his death earlier this year. The song in question is his 1978 debut single The Floral Dance, which originally peaked at Number 21 on the Official Chart. The ‘Floral Dance for Christmas Number 1′ Facebook page has already picked up lots of support… could it Terry vs. Cliff for Number 1?!
    *******************
    25/1
    Annie Humphrey – Dartford Tolls

Annoyed at the charges you have to pay when travelling through Dartford Crossing, Annie Humphrey of unsigned band Frog on a Rocket has penned her frustration into a song. She has switched up the lyrics to Jingle Bells (yes, really) and has appeared on ITV News and BBC Radio Essex to promote her X-rated, ranty song. Could those 30,000+ YouTube views convert into satire-loving sales?
    *******************
    No odds yet
    Proclaimers

No, we don’t mean those lovable twins who like to walk hundreds of miles. Norwich-based church choir network Proclaimers haven’t yet started writing their song that they hope will be the first holiday-themed Christmas Number 1 since 2004, but the group’s passion and their wannabe song’s sentiment have got local media talking. Hearts have been captured, inspiration has been instilled and now the song is beginning to take shape, with help from supports who can submit their own lyrics. Learn more about the project below.
    *******************
    80/1
Kylie Minogue – Everybody’s Free (To Feel Good)

Kylie certainly knows her audience, hence this newly Yuletide-ified cover a popular 90s banger. Miss Minogue’s version of Rozalla’s Everybody’s Free (To Feel Good) accompanied Boots’ Christmas TV campaign this year, an ad celebrating all of the women who work on Christmas Day. The track features on the new Snow Queen edition of Kylie’s Christmas album.
    *******************
    8/1
James ‘SHINNy’ Davenport – Christmas Number 1

The power of a Facebook campaign should never be underestimated, and the big pursuit for an Xmas chart topper coming from the social network is James ‘SHINNy’ Davenport’s single Christmas Number 1. Shinny’s Facebook group has over 85,000 followers, and fans of the Salford singer can find him rallying his supporting on Facebook live – the first time this has been used in a #XmasNo1 campaign. Does this dark horse of a track in aid of Macmillan Cancer Care have what it takes to go all the way?
    *******************
    16/1
    Gareth Malone

The Beatles and Spice Girls have enjoyed multiple Christmas Number 1s, so why can’t Gareth Malone? The popular choirmaster and OBE scored 2011’s Xmas chart-topper with help from the Military Wives, and has also bagged a Number 1 with the Children in Need All Star Choir. Gareth is releasing a holiday album A Great British Christmas, with one track Paradise Street featuring Kaiser Chiefs’ Ricky Wilson. With a TV series promoting the album, will the viewers make Gareth the star sitting on the tree top?
    *****************
    80/1
Robb Johnson and the Corbynistas – JC for PM for Me

Do you want Jeremy Corbyn to be Prime Minister and also LOVE Christmas? Well maybe you should join Robb Johnson and his Corbynistas! This bonkers track is in aid of charity Trussell Trust, who work to stop poverty and hunger in the UK, so regardless of your political stance or love of eggnog, there is a fantastic reason to show your support. Will Jez ever get into 10 Downing Street, and will JC is PM for Me sit pretty at Number 1? This is 2016 so we guess anything is possible!

        Mr f
Anyone who wants to be in with a chance of nabbing the Christmas Number 1 has to make sure their single is available for at least a week before the cut-off point for sales and streams to be counted toward the chart, which in 2016 is midnight on December 22
Only one purchase per site per person will count towards the chart numbers unless they are gifted then it’s unlimited purchases

The King Lot ft The JollyBoys have had their song available for preorder since the 14th November
