Nov 25: Champions League Betting Preview

THERE was only one real surprise and a few  big scores in the Champions League on Tuesday so let’s see what tonight brings.

After convincing wins for Chelsea and Arsenal that keep their hopes alive Man United will want to follow them into the winners’ enclosure when they entertain PSV.

Victory will endear manager Louis van Gaal to the support a little more and clinch a place in the last 16.

It’s three points United need in a Group B that’s the tightest of all with four points separating the sides with any two from four progressing.

PSV won the reverse 2-1 in Holland but I expect United to gain revenge and they are a 1-2 with McBookie and others.

Memphis Depay returned to the side at Watford and netted a classy opener and was also on target in Eindhoven.

Consider him to score first at 11-2 with bet365 if he starts – if not look to Anthony Martial at 9-2 with Paddy Power.

United have conceded just one in six outings at Old Trafford so look at no to both teams to score at 17-20 with McBookie.

The other Group B contest between CSKA Moscow and Wolfsburg is tougher to call although home advantage may just edge it the Russians’ way.

All four of their points have come in front of their own fans while the Germans have lost five of their last six on the road. They did, however, end a poor run with a 6-0 thrashing of Werder Bremen at the weekend and this could be one for both to score at 9-13 with 888sport.

In Group D Man City head to Juventus safely through but fighting for top spot with the Italians. If City play like they did against Liverpool they’ll lose but they’ve been decent in Europe after going down in their opener to the Turin side.

I can see a draw here and that pays 5-2 at McBookie. With Sergio Aguero back but Vincent Kompany still out consider both teams to score at 10-11 (William Hill).

Sevilla and Moenchengladbach are basically playing for a Europa League place when they meet in Germany and we all know about Sevilla’s love for the tournament.

However, Borussia are unbeaten in nine games under coach Andre Schubert and I’d side with the home win at 31-20 with Coral with the Spanish suffering injury problems and having lost three of their last four.

Elsewhere Rafael Benitez has survived at Real Madrid but following a 4-0 bashing by Barcelona at the weekend he’ll need nothing but a win away to Shakhtar Donestsk. Real haven’t conceded in Group A so consider a win to nil at 3-1 with McBookie.

In the other game don’t expect Zlatan Ibrahimovic to go easy for PSG on his return to Malmo. The Swedish Euro 2016 play-off hero is 29-10 with Paddy Power to score first and PSG are no bigger than 1-3 at Betfred as they look to seal their slot.

In Group C Benfica lead by two points from Atletico Madrid and the top two are in the driving seat. Benfica play early away to Astana and should win although they are no bigger than 3-4 with William Hill.

Atletico win 2-0 in Turkey and have beaten their rivals twice with the other meeting draw. Atletico only need a draw but are likely to go for and get the win at 1-3 with William Hill and others.

Very easy to get carried away with team goals in these lineups, but pretty confident with this.

Think I’ll jump on the Madrid bandwagon as my main bet tonight with Madrid -1 @ 3.45

Not much else jumps out at me, BTTS hard to call in the European games as you can’t rely on stats as much imo.

Doh. Cashed out for £2.50 profit when Madrid were 1-0 up and looking pony.
