CHAMPIONS LEAGUE betting is kinder to punters than Europa League betting – always has been and always will be.

Many punters’ will have winnings burning holes in their pockets after last night’s success but don’t give it all back tonight – save it for results that should be more predictable.

Tonight there is the usual mix of sides already through, others who don’t care about the tournament and some who will put out a blend of youth and experience.

Team news is vital and I’ve trawled the internet for as much as possible and on the strength of that I’ll flag up some sides whom it might be better to avoid. We even have a manager celebrating his 50th game and a side playing their last before moving grounds.

Let’s start with some we can back. Borussia Monchengladbach face eliminated AEL Limassol with three points a must. The Germans are no bigger than 1-3 but could win at a canter against Jorge Costa’s injury-hit squad. Consider the home side -1 at 10-11 with bet365.

Bordeaux killed our both teams to score line on Sunday by shutting out Marseille and they can end Bruges’ hopes in Belgium. The French beat Bruges 4-0 in their opening Group D clash and need a win to qualify.

Bordeaux have kept four clean sheets on the bounce while Bruges have been leaking goals, with 19 conceded in six games, including six at Anderlecht. Back the French at 9-5 with BetVictor.

The other Group D clash, of course, features Newcastle and by all accounts boss Alan Pardew is set to name a strong side at home to Maritimo. Pardew is furious at successive home defeats to West Ham and Swansea and wants to end the drought. Take the Toon at 4-9 (various).

The coach reaching a milestone is Diego Simeone who wants to celebrate his 50th game in charge of Atletico Madrid by confirming the Europa League holders’ place in the knockout stages.

The Spaniards take on Group B whipping boys Hapoel Tel-Aviv at the Vicente Calderon tomorrow and Simeone is likely to field a stronger side than the won that lost at Academica last time out.

Much-wanted striker Falcao, however, hasn’t played in the competition this season and is not expected to be risked. Atletico are 1-6 with the likes of William Hill and Paddy Power so you have to look to the handicaps. They are 1-2 at Skybet -1 and 21-20 with bet365 -2.

And what about that landmark game in Stockholm. Napoli head coach Walter Mazzarri wants star man Edinson Cavani to make history as AIK Solna play in their 75-year old home for the final time before moving to the Friends Stadium.

Napoli will qualify for the last 32 with a victory if PSV fail to beat Dnipro and I’m on Uruguayan striker Cavani, who banged in four against Dnipro last time out, to hit the opener. He is 7-2 at Paddy Power and William Hill with Napoli a biggest 3-4 at Paddy Power, William Hill and BetVictor.

Goran Pandev hasn’t travelled due to injury but his replacement Eduardo Vargas hit a hat-trick as Napoli won the reverse fixture 4-0.

And what of the other English teams. Brendan Rodgers fielded his reserves away to Young Boys and saw them win 5-3.

Liverpool have named a strong squad this time although Rodgers is likely to mix it up a bit. I’m on the Reds at 4-9 (various) although it looks a little short when you consider the Swiss have enjoyed back-to-back wins over Udinese.

Lazio will qualify for the knockout stages if they beat Spurs who look set to play something like half their first team with Jermain Defoe unlikely to start. The Romans battled to a dour 0-0 draw at White Hart Lane but have netted six in their last two home games so could edge this one. Lazio are 6-4 at BetVictor.

And now some to be wary of. Bayer Leverkusen have taken an understrength squad to Ukraine for their dead tie with Metalist. Both sides have qualified and the likes of Lars Bender, Andre Schurrle, Gonzalo Castro, Omer Toprak Hajime Hosogai and skipper Simon Rolfes have stayed at home.

Inter Milan’s boss Andrea Stramaccioni has included 10 players under 21 for the trip to Rubin Kazan including unknown Academy kids Simone Pasa, Mauro Benassi, Isaac Donkor and Andrea Bandini. Both sides are through but Rubin could be the ones to take having not lost in their last 17 European games at home.

Lyon are the only side with a 100 per cent record but manager Remi Garde is resting Milan Bisevac, Steed Malbranque, Arnold Mvuemba, Bafetimbi Gomis and Alexandre Lacazette who have all remained in France. Sparta are unbeaten in their last 10 European home matches so leave out the French.

Cavani to score first
(7-2, Paddy Power, William Hill)

Borussia M’gladbach -1
(10-11, bet365)

Atletico Madrid -2
(21-20, bet365)

Steve, obviously I’ve tipped Atletico and Liverpool. Levante should be too good for Helsingborgs but aways are never safe.

Steve, I picked a few aways yesterday. Just saying I would hardly ever brand an away as “safe”.
