IT was a good day for the Super Singles with two winners – and it could still be for the accumulators if Ayr beat St Mirren on Sunday.
My 5pts Super Single running from Friday was a winner sealed by over 2.5 goals in the Spain game. I have deducted 2pts from the 6pts profit after covering the bet.
The second triumph was Morton at 17-11 to win at Dumbarton and they did so with a comfortable 2-0 success. After a rocky start to the month the Super Singles could return to profit today.
On a curtailed card I picked the wrong ones for my goals bets and Iceland failing to net for the first time in 16 games downed the Top Treble.
My 14-1 aways treble just needs Ayr to win after Plymouth and Morton did the business. I wish I’d posted the four aways I listed in Saturday’s Daily Record as they all won at 38-1 – Plymouth and Morton plus Doncaster and Dundee United.
The reason I change or alter some of my Saturday Record top tips is because I’m not advising points or keeping stats in the paper.
The aways treble is a 1pt bet so would need 2pts staked on St Mirren or draw at 8-15 to cover the stake so I’m letting it run for now. Saints beat Ayr in the League Cup back in July but haven’t experienced the bounce a new manager usually brings and Jack Ross has suffered four consecutive defeats.
They are still without a Championship win and Ross looks like he might need loads of time and maybe a transfer window to fix the mess he’s inherited. Ayr have lost their last two to better teams in Hibs and Morton but before that won back-to-back league games.
My challenge bet won and I’m closing in on my £250 target and elsewhere Greg had another over series winner while Desmond notched one winner from three goals picks. Selectabet’s correct scores treble ended in agony as Italy scored one goal too many after Germany 8-0 came up on Friday.
Sunday sees another eight World Cup qualifiers including Luxembourg v Holland, Portugal v Latvia and Belgium v Estonia. I’ll take a close look at all eight before picking out my best bets.
Finding value is difficult with a short-priced favourite in all but two of the games – Bulgaria v Belarus and Greece v Bosnia-Herzogovina.
For example a fivefold on Hungary -1, Portugal -1, Belgium -1, Holland and Switzerland pays 11-10. It should land and the other hot favourite is Cyprus at home to Gibraltar.
In English League One it’s Peterborough v Bolton and Chesterfield v Sheffield Utd and in Scotland it’s the final two IRN-BRU Cup quarter-finals as Ayr go to St Mirren and Livingston entertain TNS who are 13-10 favourites at Coral and that looks about right.
I’ve decided to try to wipe out the SS losses with Sheffield United to score 2+ at Chesterfield. The Blades are unbeaten in 11 and netted 18 in their last five. To score 2+ is slightly bigger than to win.
For the Top Treble I’m simply taking three nations who should win well on the handicaps – Belgium, Portugal and a revitalised Holland.
And finally I’ve got a riskier goals treble – over 3.5 at the Belgium and Portugal matches and over 2.5 in the IRN-BRU Cup quarter-final between Livingston and high-scoring Welsh champions TNS.
