IT wasn't the best of nights in the Champions League unless you were on PSG to run riot.

I hope my preview persuaded some to take the French champs to beat Celtic with plenty to spare.

For my Super Single I settled for PSG -2 at just under evens but I could just have easily put up -3 or -4.

Even when Celtic scored in the first minute I wasn't worried and while 7-1 is an embarrassing result it wasn't entirely surprising against arguably the best forward line in world football.

I said Brendan Rodgers doesn't believe in parking the boss and while a 12-1 aggregate over the two games makes poor reading Celtic fans will settle for finishing third behind PSG and Bayern Munich and that looks almost certain now.

My fourfold looked a winner for long stages but in the end defeats for Roma and Man United beat it so it was a break even day.

Well done to Greg for his Nap winner on over 2.5 goals at Wolves – he's a man in hot form just now.

There were plenty of other winners including the extremely consistent Hullshaker. He'd stand out like a chip butty if he visited Paris but boy can we feast on his lower-league winners.

Thursday sees what I call the dreaded Europa League matches. I've scoured the card and have picked some 1pt bets – sticking to teams who need a result and remember if you can check teams news before betting and keep stakes low.

My teams to win all kick off early. Group I is tight with four points separating first from fourth. Salzburg will clinch their last-32 place by beating Guimaraes at home and should edge this one. All their games have been tight with just four scored and one conceded so don't go daft on the goals front.

Add Athletic Bilbao to beat Hertha Berlin at home in another tight section. Three points cover the sides here and Bilbao can keep their hopes alive against the struggling Germans who have lost on the road at Ostersunds and Zorya.

Swedes Ostersunds have been the story of the tournament. In their first Euro campaign the side managed by Englishman Graham Potter with a Scots No.2 in Billy Reid have won four and drawn one at home.

Galatsaray, Hertha Berlin and Athletic Bilbao have all failed to win in ice-cold Jamtland and Zorya could be put to the sword tonight as the minnows attempt to qualify. It will be well below freezing and on a plastic pitch in front of a packed house. Zorya lost 2-0 to their hosts in Ukraine and should lose again.

Of the later games I like AEK Athens to beat Rijeka and AC Milan to see off Austria Vienna. If you fancy the treble and these do them on a moneyback fivefold.

For the goals treble I'm concentrating on Group G. Seven of the eight games have saw both scoring and seven out of eight have gone over 2.5 goals. So look for more of the same for Lugano v Hapoel Beer Sheva and Viktoria Plzen v Steaua Bucharest.

Add Braga v Hoffenheim to complete the treble. Both sides need to win to have a chance of qualifying and the Portuguese are favourites after winning 2-1 in Germany. Hoff are off the boil but usually have a goal in them.

1pt Top Treble (6pm)

  • RB Salzburg
  • Athletic Bilbao
  • Ostersunds
  • (15-4, bet365)

1pt Both to Score Treble

  • Lugano v Hapoel Beer Sheva (6pm)
  • Plzen v Steaua Bucharest (6pm)
  • Braga v Hoffenheim (8.05pm)
  • (7-2, Marathonbet)

Well done on PSG Mr F and everyone else with a win last night.

My double was downed by a poor City performance on Tuesday, but tonight I have another European double.

Lazio who have qualified host a struggling Vitesse who have one point from their four group games, conceding 2+ in their three losses. Lazio have won all four and will want to keep momentum into the knockout rounds. Expect a couple of goals for the home side who you could chance on the -1 AH @ 5/6 @ Bet Victor. Only thing that bothers me about the handicap is the result of the reverse tie.

Double Lazio up with FC Sheriff at home to the woeful Zlin. The Europa League is a world of unknown and I’m risking all this on stats from group games, so tread cautiously. Zlin have to win to stay in the competition otherwise its pride in week 6. FC Sheriff are in second place and could seal a knockout place if they win and Moscow fail to beat Copenhagen.

    Lazio Over 1.5 Team Goals
    FC Sheriff DNB

    46/50 @ 365 – 2.5 points

I opted to take a relatively safe double

    PSG win @ 1/9
    Chelsea win @ 3/10

I’m just grateful I managed to avoid the other banana skins in the champions league yesterday.

    £322.73 to £461.50

The two matches I am steering towards later today are wins for Zenit St Petersberg ( who played a small role a few days back in kick-starting this bank builder ) – they’re only 1/12 to win + Ac Milan @ 1/4 for the win.
Both prices have dropped a little since yesterday, but I will look closer at both of those ties/group positions – their opposition and maybe i’ll see something that i’m not comfortable with. If I twist again, it could see me with around a 35% boost which i’d take every day if I could.

The Night Owl was a slow burner but came good in the end…1-3 tge final score ?

T&T Premier League can be a rich picking ground for goals and could be once more again this evening…

CENTRAL VS. W CONNECTION (2200 KO):

In brief: 5 of the last 4 H2H’s (all recent) saw 3 or more goals with all 5 of Central’s most recent games and 4 of the last 5 of Connections hitting ‘Overs’

    Everton v Atalanta
    Skenderbeu v Dynamo Kiev
Dynamo kiev to win at 5/6 (NAP)
Everton to win at 12/5 (NB)
Dynamo Kiev have already qualified but that wont stop them wanting to in this game they will want to keep the momentum going into the knockout stages they are good on the road and should pick up another win here.
Everton are to name a strong side for this game to respect the fans and try and get a win in the europa league,i backed Atalanta in the reverse fixture without hesitation but after watching them in recent weeks especially against Inter Milan its not the Atalanta i know they look tired and the only reason is being in Europe.Atalanta simply wouldn’t have lost to Inter in the manner that they did if they were not competing in this tournament and whilst Everton look a little sharper under Unsworth they should have enough in their locker to grab a win here. For the less brave amongst us Everton double chance at 4/6 looks solid.
    best of luck.

    • sean567 6 years ago

I’m in no way doubting anything you said macca, I think Everton would be mad to name a strong side you not think? Already out they should be concentrating on the relegation battle they are currently in

    • maccathered 6 years ago

They are naming a strong side thats what i stated in my write up,would you want to be an Evertonian going through a European group stage without a win walking around Merseyside lol they would never live it down lad they have to grab a win wether they are in it or not.I did also state double chance Everton looks solid at 4/6 which it does to me.

    • sean567 6 years ago

Anno, noble as it is to want to “do it for the fans” the benefits of staying in the epl eclipse a dead rubber in the Europa league. It’s madness imo if the do name a strong side and get a few injuries. I agree the dc looks a decent price for an accer if they do go full strength.

    • sean567 6 years ago

Ps I wouldn’t want to be an evertonian full stop ???

    • maccathered 6 years ago

I doubt playing a strong dies tonight will have any implications on a relegation fight,Everton are where they used to be,they have been punching above there weight for years now.

    • maccathered 6 years ago

      strong side.

  11. wasclueless 6 years ago

Lugano v Hapoel Beer Sheva BTTS, Lazio > 1.5 TGS 1.3/1
The Swiss side are usually good for scoring and conceding and both teams have to go for a win to have any chance of qualification. The Israelis have scored in their last 8 Europa games – but have also failed to keep a clean sheet. Lazio are bang in form – Vitesse are not … hopefully they will want to confirm top spot in their group.

Well done on the PSG SS Mr F – noth sure whether the ‘chip butty in Paris’ comment is a compliment or a pelter ?

If, like me, you’re swerving the Euro games, it’s a pretty barren card out there this evening but there may be a small chink of value in one game…

    LLANEROS VS. LEONES
    (2015 KO):

Dropping down to the Colombian 2nd tier will see me dropping the stake value considerably but I certainly wouldn’t write-off the game entirely.

Four of the last five H2H’s (all 2016-2017) have seen 3 or more match goals and both sides have been in the goals more recently with 85% of the hosts last seven games and both of Leones’ most recent games getting the green light for ‘Overs’

For anyone looking for a solid single not Europa related then over 10 corners in tonight’s Womens World Cup Qualifier between Austria Women and Israel Women is the one. Whenever Israel Women faced a side even remotely decent they conceded a ton of corners; against Spain 17-0, against Norway 16-0, the reverse of tonight’s fixture with Austria 16-0 and Wales a slightly more respectable 11 corners 9-2. The fact that the reverse fixture with Austria produced 16 total corners indicates there could be something similar tonight. Over 10 corners is EVENS with Bet365. It may also pay to back over 11 corners 6/4, over 12 corners 12/5 and over 14 corners 6/1. Goals also look like they’ll be on the menu :)

Finally we can put the McInnes to Ibrox story to bed. Stewart Milne has confirmed he’s going no where and McInnes has no interest in the job and has told him he’s staying at Aberdeen.

    • alex_mufc83 6 years ago

At least I can finally begin the grieving process for my stake on McInness. Never again backing a ‘dead cert’ / ‘insider info’

    • maccathered 6 years ago

Or should i say if a manager isn’t appointed by then.

    • Mr Fixit 6 years ago

With Chis Guy that wasn’t the case.
He’s not some newbie who appeared all of a sudden just to change the market – he’s been about almost from day one.
Also if people want to put up tips in a bid to change odds I’d advise them to use sites with bigger audiences.
We do OK for a small operation but there are some big players out there and we aren’t one of them.

    • maccathered 6 years ago

I know Mr f that wasn;t Chris’s agenda but its tips like that can move a market if it comes from someone in the know we saw that on the Mcinnes odds, but your right it has been a shambles.

    • Mr Fixit 6 years ago

We all know that. McInnes was favourite before Chris commented and his remark alone on here didn’t shift the price.
What you have to remember is McInnes was/is the man Rangers want – the compensation proved the first stumbling block.

    • sless1903 6 years ago

But most important of all McInnes doesn’t want the job

    • sand 6 years ago

What facts do you have for this?

    • Mr Fixit 6 years ago

He’ll probably get appointed tomorrow then. Whole thing has been a shambles.

    • sand 6 years ago

Why is that interview from the AFC chairman not enough? No way would he say that without McInnes agreement. If anything happens now both look stupid.

Told you I didn’t think it would happen but your right been a complete shambles from Rangers. If they wanted him or could afford him they would have attempted to by now.

    For tomorrow:

    Glenavon v Linfield

I’m putting my hard earned in the hands of Northern Irish side Glenavon once again tomorrow night. For what feels like the umpteenth time, I’m flagging a Glenavon game up this season as they welcome usual NI juggernauts Linfield. Linfield are widely considered to be the ‘big side’ in Northern Irish football, yet despite the budget and players at their disposal, Linfield look set to face a real fight to defend their league title this season.

Of the four rivals placed above them, it is Glenavon and Coleraine that are particularly impressing. I flagged up a meeting of the former two sides a few weeks back for goals and that one ended 2-2. In fact, Glenavon have now managed to net two goals in all but two games this season – a 1-1 draw v Dungannon and a 4-0 league cup defeat in which they heavily rotated the squad. Glenavon’s form this year owes to an influx of young, hungry academy players mixed with experienced heads. Since that 2-2 draw with Coleraine, Glenavon have kept up the pressure at the top by impressively beating Glentoran 1-3 away, before a routine 0-3 win on the road at the weekend.

On the flip side, Linfield’s 2-1 home win against Coleraine last time out was desperately needed after two defeats in the league and cup. Manager David Healy (remember him?) had been under a spot of pressure before that result. After a strong start (6 wins out of 6, 0 goals conceded), Linfield were looking ominous. Yet since then, Linfield have lost 7 of their last 13 games, 6 of them coming on their travels. Not only have Crusaders humbled them three times (2-1, 5-2, 2-0), but Linfield also lost to Coleraine, Cliftonville and Ballymena.

Granted, besides Ballymena, those defeats came against the strongest sides in the division. What sticks out, however, is that they conceded at least twice in each defeat and their form against Crusaders pales in comparison to Glenavon’s 2-3 victory against the same side.

This pressure has led to a few choice words from Healy, most recently directed at Glenavon when attempting to suggest they are now under pressure to consistently perform. Linfield even recently released a statement to complain about poor refereeing decisions. The Glenavon boss didn’t take too kindly to Healy’s words and what has developed is a tinge of animosity to a game that already looks prime for action in front of an expected sell out crowd.

I’ve promoted the hell out of this tie but in the hope that it isn’t a damp squib, I fancy Glenavon to outperform their odds. I think this one is priced on name-factor, and Glenavon’s form is certainly being undervalued. Still, Glenavon can’t keep a clean sheet against decent sides and remind me a little of Fylde last season.

    Two picks for me:

    BTTS and O2.5 Match Goals @ 4/6 (Bet365)

    Glenavon O1.5 Team Goals @ 11/10 (Bet365)

Cheers, I mentioned Milan and AEK Athens earlier. Could add Lyon but the AEK are the only decent price.
Will improve if Milan and Lyon are not ahead early.

  45. kf 6 years ago

Also, does anyone have a link to follow number of corners as they happen for the Austria (W) v Israel (W) game…Flashscore are not showing any stats for the match…

    • cockerspaniel 6 years ago

kf go on to bet365 you will get it there. 6 corners at H/T mate

    • kelly.d 6 years ago

6-0 in corners at ht follow it on bet365 site

    • kf 6 years ago

Sorry to be a pain, but where on Bet365…I’ve got the match up, but cant see any corner stats…

    • kf 6 years ago

Forget that…found it…can’t see the wood for the trees….

  46. finchy 6 years ago

bet365 made my bilbao o 5.5 corners selection a fail as the last corner was awarded but not taken which is against their specific ruling. Shouted at a poor guy on live chat and got the bet stake refunded, bit unhappy as it was the final part of bullseyes great treble!

    • Mr Fixit 6 years ago

With most bookies corners have to be taken to count. Always wonder though why refs give corners then blow the whistle.

  47. kf 6 years ago

    Cheers Finchy. Damn, so close…

    • HullShaker 6 years ago

KF/Finchy – are you lads part of a twitchers club? Can anyone join?

Craneguy sent me a picture of a lesser spotted tit-warbler the other night so maybe he could join.

    • finchy 6 years ago

haha we can share tips whilst spotting. Good luck Kelly!

B365 not interested. Was the last bet in an acca for £275. Pfffft

    0-3 on 59′ in Colombia ?

    One selection:

wats your usual stake HULL ?

    • HullShaker 6 years ago

Evening Micky – whatever anyone’s stake is is totally negligible really pal.

All that matters is the confidence level of any given bet hence I try and give a ‘starred’ rating as an indicator.

      Best of luck.

just placed my first kwiff bet 40/1 kwiffed to 150/1 20 on it:

    psg win ( v monaco)

    leverkussen win ( v dortmund)

    1.5 sampdoria tgls

    lazio to beat fiorentina

    inter beat cagliari

@kyle-b @maccathered @alex_mufc83 you guys think this has a chance?!

    • alex_mufc83 6 years ago

      Who are Sampdoria playing?

& you know Leverkusen v Dortmund is two games away, on 02/12/17 right?

    • aarron19888 6 years ago

@alex_mufc83 yeah buddy, looked for games that i liked the look of over the next few weeks, sampdoria have bologna away, both scoring loads will be a 2-2/3-2 either side probably

quite confident leverkussen can beat dortmund on a good day, forgot to add napoli to beat juve instead of the inter game as well haha, fingers crossed!

    • alex_mufc83 6 years ago

It’s a long shot… but there are no rules and it has just as much chance as others
