HARRY KANE – I love you. Never thought I'd say that – can I even say that?

Of course I can – the England skipper came to the rescue of the £10 to £1000 Betting Club challenge with his last-gasp winner against Slovenia.

So after 11 winning bets I managed to take £10 all the way to £1000 and it came down to the final few seconds of a game in which England never looked like scoring.

Thanks for all the kind comments and well done to everyone who was on and the next one will start today so watch out for it.

I've posted a separate preview covering games including Georgia v Wales and Republic of Ireland v Moldova and have decided to go with Georgia draw no bet as the Super Single. It's a big price and Wales could struggle without Bale.

My only other bet as I concentrate on Saturday is Spain and Republic of Ireland to win to nil and England Under-21s to beat Scotland at Middlesbrough. England's team is the Under-20s who won the World Cup and they should be too strong for the Scots who will miss Celtic defender Anthony Ralston who is a key man.

Scotland beat Holland 2-0 at home in their first qualifier but this is a step up even though they'll give it a good go.

Yesterday's Super Single of Slovakia draw no bet was a loser but the consolation was Scotland winning to stay in the play-offs hunt. It was well deserved too on a night Leigh Griffiths and Chris Martin hit rockets against the bar and the keeper saved everything thrown at home.

Sunday should be exciting as Scotland go to Slovenia searching for the win that will clinch second spot in Group F.

I would like to disagree with Mr fixits wales fail with no bale pun about us in Georgia but can’t.
Even with bale I had a draw in mind, with him out I would take the draw now and hope we beat Ireland.
They were the width of a crossbar from winning in Cardiff and looked the more dangerous playing on the break.
Maybe the onus is on them to attack us tomorrow which could play to our strength, which is playing on the break.
Could we possibly hope for woodburn to come on late on again and net an equaliser or winner, hope so.
I will go for draw 0-0 ht draw 1-1 ft

Hi mrf.well done on the challenge.what’s the chances of doing a challenge for all your regular followers.win us some much needed cash for Xmas. I’ve tried several but haven’t got the patience.too many choices n usually take the wrong one

The challenge is for Gold members with the winnings given away to them is some shape or form.
Most regulars are Gold members and this is a reward for their support.

Congrats on the challenge Mr F. No joy my end with the Irish drawing a blank at home.

Some may not know but the A-League is back up and running today. Melbourne City who site regulars will know are always good for goals at home. As its opening day I’d be very cautious of any serious punts, but the Over 4.5 Cards looks tempting at 5/6 @ 365. Some players might be shaking off rust, and the A-League is usually a fiery season.

    • terrinico 7 years ago

Jarred Gillett is the referee for this game and he produced the most cards last season (100 in 17) appearances 5.88 per game so good call on this one Jorden

    morning all
I shall be on an Indonesian game this morning
    Semen Padang vs Madura United

The away side is booming with form past 5 games winning against organised teams and have won all past 5 games.
However, the same cannot be said about the hosts who have won none of their past 5 matches.
The last time the two teams met though Madura was the host they hammered the current hosts 6-0
bookies have the away to win at over evens and though I don’t like the wdw in this league I shall be happy to put my stake on away straight win today.

    Madura win

As I mentioned last week, this week marks the start of the A league season. The majority of the time it’s a great league for goals, corners and cards and I’m hoping this year is no different. There’s been a lot of ins and outs this season with teams shaping their squads but right now it looks like Sydney will still be the team to beat with the 2 Melbourne clubs chasing hard on their heels. For me the “dark horse” this year could be the season before lasts champions Adelaide. Horrendous year last year as defending champions but they look to have improved their squad well, are flying in the cup, and their 3-0 demolition of the victory was impressive and can’t be ignored. As I’ve pointed out of the past few years btts/o2.5 happens a lot of the time in the A league and could well happen today but I’m siding with city to net at least twice at a nice price. The roar have lost a few of their attacking options and it’s yet to be clear wether their new boys ( including a 38 year old massimo maccarone) can step up to the plate and fill the void. City have their talisman fornaroli our injured for a while but for me have pulled off the signing of the season in the A league and managed to get ross McCormack on loan from villa. A player who has scored that many goals in the English championship should be scoring for fun in the A league. As always with any league just starting lower stakes is the way to go for a few weeks until we see a bit of a pattern and form developing. Good luck folks and let’s hope it’s as profitable a year as it has been recently.
    Today’s advised tips
    City o1.5 tgs 5/6 bet 365
    Ross McCormack atgs

  11. obi wan cannoli 7 years ago

A few folks have beat me to it already, but I’m excited for the start of my domestic league!

Given the A-League isn’t as financially rewarding to players as playing in Asia or Europe, you often seen mass overhauls of squads as players leave for more lucrative leagues, etc. This year is no different and sees a shakeup of both sides in tonight’s opener. Low stakes are advised, as all sides in round 1-2 may take some time to gel.

    Melbourne City v Brisbane Roar:
City have a new coach (Joyce) and some quality signings in the context of our league anyway, in Ross McCormack, Marcelo Carrusca (who has been solid for every club he’s played for in the A-League), and Marcin Budzinski. Timmy Cahill is off with the Socceroos, and attacking options Fornaroli and Brandan are both out injured. This is an attacking side who has the potential to do well in the league, and I do favour them tonight.

Roar will be lining up tonight without one of their greatest talents in Thomas Broich, who has parted ways with the club. Broich has been with the club ever since they were re-branded as Brisbane Roar, under then new coach Ange Postecoglou, and he has been instrumental in so many goals and wins for the club, that it would be crazy to think they won’t struggle without him. Their new signing in Eric Bautheac likely won’t have his visa cleared to play tonight, however quality Italian striker Maccarone will play and should be a threat. Holman is a big doubt with his calf injury, and the Roar have several other absentees that will hurt them too. Fahid Ben Khalfallah has moved from fellow Melbourne rivals Victory (my club!) to join City, and Gameiro comes across too, to bolster their attacking options.

Both clubs have had leaky defenses in their pre-season fixtures, but City certainly come into this one with the stronger side (on paper) available to them, and the sheer roster shake-up at Roar is going to take some time for the players to adjust to each other.

I fancy both Jordan (over 4.5 cards) and Sean’s (City – over 1.5 team goals) bets, so no point in posting those as well.

I also think we could see a few corners here. Not certain we’ll see a ton of goals tonight, but I do reckon both sets of attacking players will be testing the waters somewhat.

    Tips:
    Card before the 29th min @ 1.83
    Over 11.5 corners @ evens

    • old al 7 years ago

Obi, would I be right in thinking the A league has a pay cap?

    • obi wan cannoli 7 years ago

Yep, sure does. Thats why most good players don’t stick around. Only the marquee players (1 per team) are exempt from the salary cap.

    • snowster 7 years ago

      Thanks for the insight @obi-wan-cannoli

As you say City have Ross McCormack who has gone for a couple of 10m+ fees and brissy have Massimo Maccarone (boro flop but recovered well in Italy) Surely both will fill their boots this season?

Ref loves a card so I’m on cards and home corners today

    • old al 7 years ago

      Great stuff Obi.

    • kirantotti365 7 years ago

      obi is back

    • obi wan cannoli 7 years ago

      Hi kiran!

Early card bet landed easily, but fell just short of the corners with City getting the lion’s share (10) and Roar getting none!

      Card before the 29th min @ 1.83 – WON
      Over 11.5 corners @ evens – LOSS

Well done to Sean on the goals bet!

    Mitre 10 Cup ??

    Canterbury v Taranaki

Top two teams play each other. Taranaki are a very attacking side and only know how to play one way which will leave plenty of gaps for Canterbury. Saying that, Taranaki should put some points up too as they scored 80 odd in their last two away matches. Although the total is above average for this game this could be a big scorer (or they cancel each other out!!)

    Total points over 60.5
    1.89 @ bet365

    ?Winner?

    Canterbury over 37.5 team points
    1.90 @ bet365

    Overall: 51-47

43-55 Just squeaked in!! Taranaki win is big after being behind for most of the match. Will give them great confidence and may go on to win the cup.

Madura win looks good but dont go big on them.. They sit 4th in the league and the point spread between them all is just 5 pts up there. Semen on the other hand have not won a game in their last 9 in the league games and sit 15th from 18th. Madura also beat these lot 6-0 when they last played in Jun. Everything and nothing to play for from both sides.

    • haruni 7 years ago

Smallest Friday card in a while. Low stakes for me in the Netherlands.

With 11 goals in their last two and a good home record thus far, I can’t help but feel Fortuna Sittard are overpriced at home to Nijmegen. Since relegation from the Eredivisie, Nijmegen haven’t kept a clean sheet despite relatively good form. I do think there’s a good chance this one sees goals but BTTS and Overs is accurately priced and I think I’m gonna leave it alone. Instead, I’m putting my faith in Sittard.

Dordrecht have seen BTTS land in each league game so far. The last 7 meetings between these sides have seen both sides notching and Eindhoven have a relatively impressive scoring record on the road – at least in terms of consistency.

    Fortuna Sittard O0.5 Team Goals
    Dordrecht v Eindhoven BTTS

    Ukraine Persha Liga
    Volyn Lutsk v FC Poltava

This is fairly goal light league. However Poltava are second and on a good run but they are grinding them out. A win today puts them top with Arsenal Kiev and today’s team are all the way down in 14th.
64% of Poltava’s goal come after the 60th min, so that is the tip for the game. No fhg as both too light to guarantee a good chance of landing it.

    World Cup Qualifers for me

    Turkey v Iceland KO 7.45pm

Things are tight at the top with just two points separating four teams – Turkey hauled themselves back into contention of a place in Russia with a fantastic 1-0 win against leaders Croatia last month – that will go ve them great confidance as they host an Iceland side who’ll also fancy their chances of making their second tournament on the spin, i just feel home turf will help the Turks and they’ll be spurred on to a narrow win in this must win qualifier

Back Turkey to win 97/100 (Marathon Bet) (NAP)

    Thursday’s Predictions – WC Qualifiers.
Tough card for Thursday so we’ll be playing smaller stakes whilst trying to find the value in some of the games.
    Armenia v Poland
Best Bet: Poland to win and BTTS, 21/10, William Hill. ***WIN***
Armenia are more than capable of finding the net but Poland should have too much for them.
    SP: 1-2
    England v Slovenia
Best Bet: Draw/England (HT/FT), 16/5, Bet Victor. ***WIN***
Slovenia will look to keep it tight early doors but as the game goes on they will have to be a bit more adventurous and this will create gaps for the hosts. England will be happy to be patient and bide their time for their chance.
    SP: 2-0
    Argentina v Peru
Best Bets: Peru to score 1+ goal and 4+ corners, 9/4, SkyBet (Request a Bet) ***LOST***
    Peru over 1.5 TG, 11/2, Bet365 ***LOST***
Peru to win, 14/1, Winner ***LOST***
Must win for Argentina but Peru are a dangerous outfit who sit above them in the table. We’re going for an upset here.
    SP: 1-2

Overall night of profit, fancied goals more than Peru double chance. Frustrating end to a decent evening.

    ———————————————-

    Friday’s Predictions – WC Qualifiers.
Managed to find the value in the European Qualifiers last night so we will be attempting the same again tonight.

    Georgia v Wales
Wales go into this one knowing that a win will put them in the driving seat to finish 2nd ahead of their big game against Ireland in the last fixture. Bale is out for both games and will be a huge loss. In the reverse fixture where Bale played Georgia were unlucky to come away with a 1-1 draw, hitting the woodwork late on. The odds about a Georgia result here are too good to ignore.
Best Bet: Georgia double chance, 19/20, Betway
    SP: Georgia 1-1 Wales

We will also be taking on the following as a double:

    Croatia v Finland
Despite Croatia having some fantastic players they very rarely go to town on teams and generally win 1-0 or 2-0. It feels like that kind of game tonight.
    SP: 2-0

    Ireland v Moldova
Crucially whatever happens in the early kick off between Georgia v Wales there is no outcome in this group where goal difference will be a deciding factor in who finishes 2nd. The home side have just got to make sure they get the 3 points and then it will all be on to the big one at the Millennium Stadium on Monday. I see Ireland keeping a clean sheet and can’t see them scoring more than 3. Moldova generally don’t concede more than 3.
    SP: 3-0

Best Bet: Double: Croatia to win and under 4.5 goals & Ireland to win and under 4.5 goals, 0.82/1, SkyBet

The more ambitious may fancy the same bets but with under 3.5 goals, We’ve just aired on the side of caution as it still provides us with an acceptable return as a double.

  29. yovan 7 years ago

Serbia is playing Austria knowing that win will take them to Russia. They should go for a win as they have another chance on Monday against Georgia at home, should they fail to win in Vienna.
Austria has no chance to qualify and have about 6 players out.
Also their players are having an argument with their FA because their coach will be sacked at the end of campaign.
Last but not least some of Austrias main players are Serbs (Arnautovic, Dragovic) if you know what I mean.

Reds Double – Risky with whiskey

    Georgia v Wales
Majority says that Georgia won’t lose tonight but there is World Cup chance end of the game and Wales are the only side who has to get a result here to make the things clear otherwise all their efforts until today will be wasted and their squad is still better than Georgia hey.

    Turkey v Iceland
There is no other way but a win for Turks as well, we can expect a huge tension in this game and giving them a chance with home advantage couldn’t be wrong.
