IT'S the final Saturday of the year and unfortunately it looks a tough one.

There are loads of games between evenly-matches sides and in England with games coming thick and fast there could be some rotation. In Scotland that won't happen today as a winter break follow and 2017 ends in thrilling fashion with Celtic v Rangers kicking off at 12 noon.

I've posted Scottish and English previews which cover most of my tips and remember to check for games off. Matches at Dumbarton, Livingston, Elgin, Airdrie and Edinburgh are off and there is an inspection at Raith.

Last night was a bit of a damp squib with a lack of goals letting me down but it was only 1pt lost on a treble.

Remember to visit welovebetting for latest tips and video chat.

And for a chance to win another £500 on New Year's Day make sure you're a Gold member. As wato will tell you – you need to be in it to win it.

Im hoping somehow Rangers can pull off a result but i cant see it, my plan is to get drunk and pretend it never happened, the board needs to get the club sorted.

Final bet of the year for me, I hope this brings any followers a few beers ??

Ross Mccrorie to be carded 6/4 mcbookie

This young man loves to get stuck in and has picked up cards against Aberdeen x2 and Hibs, playing in the heart of midfield I can’t see him escaping a card.

The group has been great, some good people with detailed posts on their selections, always good to hear different people’s opinions and the end game is for us to find some winners.

See you all again in the new year where the MLS will be back ? have a good one.

    • Mr Fixit 6 years ago

I can’t see it either but luckily I’m neutral so I can watch it and only worry about my bets.
No Clydebank game today – would have been off if scheduled anyway.

    Liverpool v Leicester
Over 3.5 goals at 10/11 (NAP)*****
    Over 4.5 goals 9/4 (NB)****
    Over 5/5 goals at 5/1 *
Get ready for a crazy ride as these two battle it out again.now its hard to believe but Liverpool actually have the best defence at home in the premier league conceding only 3 goals and losing none, the reason teams that come usually park the bus and get nowhere near the goal. This game is different though as Leicester will come to play and this plays right into Liverpool’s hands, whilst Leicester will look to counter attack they will leave themselves wide open for Liverpool to attack them at will.As we saw in the Leicester City v Man utd game united created lots of chances but failed miserably in taking them missing open goals hitting the post etc etc.If our players are clinical today then i see no reason for these bets not to come in.
    Man Utd v Southampton
Over 2.5 goals at 8/11 (NAP)*****
Over 3.5 goals at 7/4 (NB)***
    Over 4.5 goals at 9/2*
Southampton are in dissaray not won a game in a long time conceding goals at an alarming rate 5 at Spurs and 4 at Home to Leicester,Man utd need to pick up as the other teams are hitting some form expect goals here.
    best of luck today

    • alex_mufc83 6 years ago

Agree with you on the Liverpool game @maccathered but not on the United game. Apart from Lingard, we lack creativity, and this being an away fixture I think Saints are going to make it difficult. We’ve also conceded sloppy goals in the last 2 games, and surely this is something José will have focussed on cementing for this game. If it’s a goal fest it will make for a more interesting game though yes so I hope you’re correct on this one too.

Best of luck with your bets, and I’m following the Liverpool tip.

    • maccathered 6 years ago

If there isn’t many goals in the Man Utd game then i will hang my betting gloves up lol, should be plenty

    • alex_mufc83 6 years ago

Mr F It is interesting to mention though that the
visiting side has had more success when playing
away from home this season despite the bookies not giving them respect ,I got faith in the Montrose defenders in this they should be high in the pitch compared to the chances for Peterhead to

Montrose are 21/10 at home to Peterhead, which seems a very generous price for a side that’s top of the table and hasn’t conceded in 5 games. Peterhead are dangerous opponents, but this has to be worth at least a double chance.

For a bigger price look at Plymouth away at Blackpool. PP go 7/2 which seems very big considering Plymouth’s last 6 games reads 4-1-1-15-9, whilst Blackpool are 0-2-4-6-11.

Down in League 2 I like the look of Colchester away at Chesterfield, PP go 13/10. Colchester won 3 drawn 1 of their last 4, whilst Chesterfield have lost their last 3, managing only 1 goal in the process.

That’s today’s treble. Pays about 31/1 for the 3 wins

    Bristol City v Wolves…

Tough old game for us today. We bossed the game against Millwall but had to settle for the draw. Flying high and playing some great stuff.

See us strengthening this coming window for the final push and this is a tough way to end the year against a damn good side. Can’t wait for it really. It’ll be close and I feel that Bristol will attack us which will help us to be fair as we’re at our best against teams who want to play.

I can see us just shading this today but WDW isn’t a market that I’m going for today.

I can see both teams on the sheet leading to goals.

2 teams that look huge value to me based on current form are OXFORD at BRADFORD and
    PLYMOUTH at BLACKPOOL

Bradford have lost 4 of their last 5 home games shipping 10 goals in the process. OXFORD after a poor start to the season losing 2 and drawing the other in their first 3 aways have since lost just 1 of their last 7 away from home.

PLYMOUTH have picked up 11pts in their last 6 aways losing just once and today play a BLACKPOOL size lying bottom of the home form guide picking up just 1pt and conceding 16 goals in their last 6 at home

Plymouth and Oxford to score 1.7/1 NAP

Plymouth and Oxford +1 3/1 NB

    Plymouth win 7/2
    Oxford win 15/4

    And a small win double

    Liverpoolv Leicester
    Brentford v Sheff W

Over 2.5 match goals double 13/10 (NAP)

    **************************

    MK Dons v Peterborough

The posh are absolutely flying at that moment – they’ve won 5 of their last 6 and are in about the goals having scored at least 2 goals in each of those 6 games. They travel to an out of form MK Dons side who lost against fellow strugglers Plymouth at home on Boxing Day. Can’t see Peterborugh not getting on the scoresheet and I think they’ll win this but I promise Mr F and myself I would stay clear of WDW markets. Peterborugh are 1/1 to score over 1.5 goals but going to take them tomatoes before 47 mins – they’ve done this in 6 of there last 7 games

Back Peterborigh to score before 47 mins 5/6

  21. HullShaker 6 years ago

    Morning gents,

I may be many things in this life but one thing I am not is deluded by the romance of following my own team.

In the words of Shakespeare, we are “absolutely f*cked.”

It’s a poor squad that has failed to gel under 2 different leadership regimes and the more fundamental job of finding a decent starting X1 is akin to finding a Yorkshireman putting money into a charity box.

We are on a truly dire run which sees us rock-bottom and heading into this game on the back of two 3-0 defeats; conversely, Fleetwood have netted a brace in 4 of their last 6 and may well have the chance to do so again, putting another nail in a Shakers coffin that’s close to being Buryed without a trace.

    One selection:

    FLEETWOOD OVER 1.5 TGS…7/4
    ???

    Best of luck.

Good Morning All, Early kick off in Italy this morning Fiorentina vs AC Milan. Feel there must be some value in Ladbrokes “get a price” offer on Leonardo Bonucci to win 2+ tackles @ 6/4. Should be straight forward- central defender playing away from home against a team who play attacking football?

Hi gents. Quick one again. Bournemouth host Everton at home and I’m hoping for goals. There have been 19 goals in Bournemouths lat five home games. Four of the five Premier League h2hs have seen BTTS & Over 2.5 Goals and I expect the same result today.

    Bournemouth/Everton BTTS @ 10/11 @ William Hill – 3.3 points

  25. leroy 6 years ago

Boxing Day was a shambles for myself thanks largely in part due to a lack of goals at Stockport. Been quiet since then but a few things I like today.

Done a bit of sleuthing but I can’t figure out why the price for goals is so big at Folkestone relative to your typical non-league goals prices. Folkestone’s home games have seen 9 out of 11 go Over and average 3.6 goals a game. Bottom of the table Worthing won here 1-2 recently as did another poor side on the road (Harrow Borough, 1-3).

Burgess Hill are the second worst away side in the league and their away games average 3.8 goals. In their last 5 on the road, they’ve conceded 14. They did bang in 3 against cash-filled Billericay recently and may well contribute to goals here themselves given Folkestone’s unpredictable form against the weaker sides.

37 combined goals in these two sides’ last 5 games (3.7 goals a game average) – looks a value price.

    Folkestone v Burgess Hill O2.5 Match Goals @ 17/20 (Bet365)
    ___________________________________________________

Glenavon rarely fail on the road but Ballymena have positioned themselves as best of the rest in the NI Premier recently. They scored on their last two visits to top sides Coleraine and Linfield and also beat Linfield at home (2-1) last month. They’ve scored 2+ in their last 8 home games and seen BTTS and Overs land in 7 of those.

Should see goals with Glenavon visiting. They’ve got 4 clean sheets in their last 5 on the road – unlike them, really, but the opposition have been 4 of the bottom 5 and the 4 lowest scorers in the league.

    Ballymena v Glenavon BTTS and O2.5 Match Goals @ 8/11 (Bet365)

    _______________________________________

Wanted to take Burnley to avoid defeat today but at just shy of 4/6 it’s a little too short. Would be a surprise to see them beaten at Huddersfield, though, and once again their is too much value in them. Half a payout, half voided if they do escape with at least a point. I’ll take it.

Bets for today. Darts: We could be closing in on the dream final as the Power continues to roll back the years. Lewis has been impressive though & slams in the 180’s for fun. We all know about Cross now & he should give MVG a game in the other match. Gonna take a double of Lewis +4.5 & Cross +3.5 (6/5). Over 8.5 sets in the Taylor match (5/6). Over 8.5 sets in the MVG match (5/6). Over 148.5 checkout in the MVG match (5/6). Double: Lewis most 180’s & MVG wIn (10/11). Will look at the total 180’s in-play for both as there should be lots! UFC 219: Posted last week but also taking Khabib fight not to go the distance (8/11). Jury/Rountree double (10/11). Diakiese/Calvillo double (11/10). Condit fight not to go the distance (5/6). Cyborg/Holm fight should be a cracker! Smart money on Cyborg but wouldn’t be surprised to see Holm pull out an upset. Football: Leicester over 3.5 corners (10/11). Double: Liverpool/United (4/5). Exeter win (10/11). Luton win (20/21). Enjoy

Derby preview and a few bits and bobs:

Last game out, Hull held Derby to a 0-0 bore draw. God knows how the football show managed to make a clip lasting less than 2 minutes but it was dreadful football for both sides. Neither side could pass the ball and there was nothing resembling an end product. Both sides will be happy with a point but to be fair, neither deserved it.

After yesterdays results ( Cardiff ) – and Wigan ( which crashed my rolling acca on £180+ ) Preston left Cardiff smug having mugged them for all the points at the death leaving that race for the top of the championship very interesting. With Wolves and Bristol playing eachother – which I think will end all square, that leaves the likes of my own Derby, Villa, Leeds all hoping to capitalise.

The last time Derby had Ipswich visit, they took a goal-line technology 1 nil lead on 6 mins and parked the bus till the final whistle. Mick McCarthy seems to know how to play against Derby. With the rams playing so poorly last time out, i’m sure there will be changes. Vydra is still leading the minutes per goal race for the golden boot in the championship at around 100 mins per goal, but he’s a few goals from the top slot. Nugent has added a couple to bring him to I think 6, then we have a smattering of odd by several players. We’ve still not lost away since Bristol in September, and the Ipswich home form has not seen a tractor boys loss at Portman road since October. I’m inclined to think this game will possibly end all square. It would suit Ipswich, but Derby would be wanting more, given the Cardiff result and the Wolves/Bristol game. If that game does end all square, and Derby win, that title race is definitely ” game on ” – but one thing is for sure, Derby need to Improve drastically on last weeks performance if they are to get something today.

The boss will probably make changes, Lawrence should be back in the side, Forsyth has just signed a new contract and Thorne is doing all the right things during cameo’s whilst Huddlestone on field is not. I’d like Thorne in the side and maybe an earlier sub to bring on Chris Martin. With 2 games in 2 days, surely Derby will make a few changes, we have Sheff Utd coming to Derby in 2 days.

Pre match, i’d take a 1 nil. We’ve only lost twice in 17 matches, unbeaten away since September and ironically the last time we lost was at home to Ipswich. Since then, we’ve had 4 good wins and a bore draw on boxing day.
If Ipswich play smart, they’ll park the bus for a point, but my gut says they’re chasing a playoff spot so could open this game up. If they do, Derby have the firepower up front to Ram raid the points. A win for the Rams and other results going well, could see a much more tighter top 4 teams – points wise. I think booking points could see a 4 or 5 cards between the sides, knowing how Ipswich got the goal from a corner last time out, Ipswich will no doubt play for them, so they’ll probably win the race to 3 and 5 corners too. I’m narrowly inclined to say this match will go under 2.5 tmg’s too. Damn, what a minefield.

Anyway, this next few hrs is going to see me away from the action regrettably, I have to do a favour for a friend, which usually involves me drinking too much alcohol during and afterwards – damn, that sounds so wrong.

This game can go either way, and usually, when the wind is on Derby’s back to capitalise, they often miss out when points above them are dropped. Dropped points above them have been more frequent of late, but its hardly a weekly occurrence, so everyone in the top 6 is having or has had a minor wobble. We need to stay focused, use the squad and get a result somehow. But for the sake of the quality of this site, I cannot comprehensively tip a WDW result or and overs or unders goals bet. Probably either best avoiding this match or looking at the Ipswich race to 5 corners market, as Derby don’t seem that intent on going for them of late.

Best of luck folks, I probably won’t be around to post team news, but if I can, I will.

    • nathanufton 6 years ago

      Derby team news:

      Carson
      Wisdom/Keogh/Davis/Forsyth
      Huddlestone/Thorne
      Russell/Vydra/Lawrence
      Winnall

WOW !! 5 changes !! Wisdom in at left back replacing Baird – slightly more attack minded. Thorne in for Ledley, Ledley has been good, but i’d of left Huddlestone out.
Russell in for Weimann – Weimann has been a bit off form lately and Russell has upped his game a bit, Lawrence grabs his shirt back – but because Johnson is injured – that’s an attacking upgrade, and Winnall in for a slightly misfiring Nugent.

We have options on the bench but i’m inclined to think that this team change is smart thinking knowing we have another game in 2 days. Thorne, Russell and Winnall have their chance to impress today and maybe have a bigger say in team selection in this 2nd half of the season.
Chris Martin not on the bench and Winnall getting the nod ahead of Martin. I think that’s like shooting yourself in the foot – particularly in lieu of how often he scores or harasses at Portman road. Maybe Martin is looking elsewhere for his football come January.

I think we may well be set up more to take this game to Ipswich.

      Good luck folks.

Looks like I was right on the Chelsea prediction, they’re 3 nil up and cruising.

On a separate note, Derby are 1 nil up after 13 mins with a Sam Winnall header from the first corner of the game. Vydra guilty of not making it 2 nil just 1 minute later with a 1 on 1 with their keeper. At ht, Derby should be 3 or 4 goals up, but we do need that 2nd goal. Much better football than the last match, the team seem fresh and hungry and Ipswich are distinctly 2nd best. I guess if Ipswich want something from this match, they have to throw even more at us. I feel they should maybe concentrate on damage limitation because we’re picking them apart with Ipswich’s current game-plan. If Ipswich open up even more, I can only see Derby adding to the goal tally.
I’m already looking ahead to Sheff Utd who’s early league form has fell off the page. they’re 1 down at ht.

Lets hope the missed chances from the rams don’t bite us in the ass. the rest of the top 6 don’t seem to be that interested in capitalising on the Cardiff result yesterday.

  52. nathanufton 6 years ago

2 nil Sam Winnall from 20 yards, top corner. I will count my chickens, Derby are 2 nil up and out of sight. Hatrick on. Derby are going to be banging on the door to add to this.

Not a scoreline I like to see but was too big a price to ignore ?

    BURY VS. FLEETWOOD:

When you’re waiting on 1 team for £168 and after 34 minutes the opposition go down to 9 men, and you’re thinking it’s a shoo-in.
Peterborough then spend 56 minutes, plus 12 minutes of combined injury time hitting everything but the back of the net.
And, with 21 shots OFF target, the crowd must have been thinking that Posh had signed Gary Fraser from Patrick Thistle…

Great result for Derby today after making some changes to freshen up the side. I was geared up for maybe sneaking a draw from both this and the visit of Sheff Utd in 2 days, but now, i’m wondering if we can see them off too. Sheff Utd are a bit mis-firing right now so a good time to play them.
We should of been out of sight by ht today, would like a bit more clinical finishing and given that most top 6 sides are having a wobble of late, Derby could put themselves in with a real chance of auto promotion. I felt that todays game would be a do or die situation for our league progress. Now, its going to be each game. If we keep this form up and others around us drop points, we have a real possibility of being in amongst the top 2.

    As predicted, United garbage.

Is Jose Mourinho our manager or Luis Van Gaal because right now I can barely tell the difference

    • hampy 6 years ago

Team should be getting a bagful and have the ability but seems no hunger at all. Started so we’ll and were just slowing fading. We’ve gt a transfer window coming up but they need alot more than a superstar signing. Need a massive kick up the rump alex

    • alex_mufc83 6 years ago

That performance is just not acceptable. Why have they not got any hunger? – It’s down to the manager. 11 players cannot all lose their confidence at once unless it’s the Manager’s doing. OK the PL trophy has gone, but we still have the Champions League to play for, and to qualify for 2018/19. Not one single player really seemed bothered and this dry rot is really getting worse and worse. Mkhitarian needs to be sold.

Our transfer policy is awful – we always get hauled over the coals on the fees, and the scouts are doing a very poor job… average player after average player. Ashley Young and Lingard are our best players of late, and that’s saying something… Compare our transfer policy to Liverpool/Chelsea for instance.

    Bristol v Wolves

Well I thought my bets would be downed by our early red card. Fortunately we held on for a long period well with 10 men and only going 1 goal down. Bristol’s red restored some order.

As a wolves fan I couldn’t be happier. Some real grit and character today and we’re now 10 points clear at the top.

It’s not all over until the fat lady sings though and I’m not counting my chickens…

I would say though that if anyone catches us then by god it’ll be deserved.

Look at Paolo Baldini with his Lazio 0, Inter 0 tip – that was pretty much slated.
I never expected 0-0 at Celtic but I wouldn’t back Man Utd with bad money these days.

    • alex_mufc83 6 years ago

I know yeah, i’m only messing. That’s the last time I back United, I predicted Unders in the game, but flipping heck wasn’t expecting not a single goal from United all game – didn’t see the keeper tested once. Don’t deserve top 4 way they’re playing, let alone 2nd place.

    • maccathered 6 years ago

That game shouldn’t of been an unders game,Man utd look tired,Everton looks a daunting prospect now.

    • alex_mufc83 6 years ago

It shouldn’t have been, especially with Saints being so bad and getting smashed by Spurs 5-0, but United have been poor for the past few months now, lacking creativity and struggling for goals. I felt we’d at least nick a goal in 90 minutes, but no. Yep wouldn’t be surprised if Everton win. Glad Lukaku may miss it because no doubt he’d bottle it against his former employers.
