IT'S the return of the Champions League tonight and PSG v Real Madrid has the makings of a cracker.

I've posted a separate preview and the only disappointment is the absence of Neymar and possibly Kylian Mbappe that puts the odds firmly in favour of the holders who lead 3-1 from the first leg.

The other tie between Liverpool and Porto is a non-event with the Reds having won 5-0 in the away leg.

Elsewhere all the Scottish games are off except Alloa v Arbroath but there have been no early call-offs in England.

There's a full Championship card and at first glance I like the look of Fulham at home to Sheffield United and Aston Villa at Sunderland. Also a handful of League One and League Two clashes.

Fulham are flying and have an outside chance of automatic promotion after a run of 13 games without defeat. Ten were wins including an impressive 2-1 defeat of Derby away at the weekend. At just under evens I'm taking them as the Super Single even if the Blades won't make it easy at Craven Cottage.

I'm usually quite wary about midweek Championship fixtures and for that reason I'm taking two sides who should win on the double chance in a Top Treble along with Forest Green not to lose at Newport.

Derby were Fulham's latest victims but should bounce back at a QPR side who have lost three in four including a 5-2 thrashing at home to Nottingham Forest at the weekend. Derby's top-six place isn't secure and this is one they'll be desperate to win.

Add Aston Villa not to lose at Sunderland. Villa should be OK for the play-offs – and have a chance of automatic promotion – and will see a trip north as a must-win.

Sunderland look doomed to a second relegation and are now rooted to the foot of the table but just four points from safety.

Chris Coleman's side have produced some decent results but aren't consistent enough. They've picked up three points in 18 – good draws against Millwall, Middlesbrough and Bristol City – but in that spell they've lost to Bolton, Brentford and Ipswich. I believe Villa will win but happy to keep the draw on side.

Complete the treble with upwardly mobile Forest Green who have climbed to sixth bottom after three wins in four. They head to Newport who haven't scored in five but their last two were 0-0 draws against Port Vale and Notts County so I'll again keep the stalemate with me.

Last night my 13-10 double on Man United and Celta Vigo to score 2+ came in with 90th-minute goals in both games so that was lucky.

Well done to all the winners including Greg with Belgian Reserve goals and maccathered who went against the grain and tipped loads of strikes at Crystal Palace.

Klopp has said he will field a strong side in tomorrows tie with Porto as he will not be showing Porto a lack of respect and want to keep up the winning momentum the Scousers have been showing lately, for that reason ill be taking the Skybet priceboost on Liverpool,Cardiff and Fulham to win @ 11/2.Roll on United giving Liverpool & Macca a large slice of humble pie this Saturday. Good Luck.

Not set on tomorrow’s punts but can’t turn a blind eye to the price about on Ronaldo to net.

He’s bagged 5 in his 3 starts since the first leg, and with a couple of games rest in between, he should be primed for the big stage. Really, he needs no introduction. In a game that should see goals, and one in which PSG may be picked off on the counter, I’m getting on this now.

Two days in a row I’ve picked games that have been postponed, and seeing this is another conference pick (the other two games have been postponed) I may well have to choose something else tomorrow afternoon.

Salford host Tamworth in the Vanarama North and I like the look of BTTS here despite Tamworth’s form. BTTS has landed in 68% of Tamworth’s games this season, and they’re fighting for survival while Salford look for promotion into the VNL. Over 2.5 is very short, and while it could be Salford putting in all the goals, BTTS is reasonable considering Salford only have one clean sheet in their last five home games (11 games in total).

    Salford/Tamworth BTTS @ 5/6 @ 365 – 3 points

    Argentinos Juniors v Boca Juniors

Argentinos winning 1-0. Both teams have a few key players out but 1st place Boca should still have enough here. They’ve W13,D1,L3 with a large + goal difference. 13th place Argentinos have been in fairly poor form, and stats of W8,D3,L7.

Indian I league. Dramatic final day

Minerva punjab are in pole position but neroca fc, mohun bagan, east bengal can pig them provided minerva punjab fc fail to beat relegation threatned candidate Churchill brothers

Minerva punjab( 32 pts from 17 games)
its advantage minerva fc as irrespective of other result. W khogen singh men will be Crowned champions. Win will take minerva 35 pts and relegate Churchill brothers to second division

    Neroca Fc ( 31pts from 17 games)

For neroca fc to win title, they have to beat east bengal at salt lake stadium and hope that minerva punjab will drop pts against Churchill brothers

Mohun Bagan (30 pts frm 17 games)
mohun bagan will be champions if they beat gokulam kerala and at same time neroca and minerva punjab drop pts

east bengal (30 pts from 17 matches)
For khalid jamil’s team can now only be Crowned champions if they beat neroca at home and both minerva and mohun bagan drop pts

Haha i hope it should be ok,Liverpool at home unbeaten in the champions league this season, passionate crowd certainly doesn’t get any easier for Porto,Klopp will want to make a statement ahead of Saturdays clash with the bitters,my thinking is 2-0-3-0 or possibly 3-1.best of luck

    • Mr Fixit 6 years ago

In my book Liverpool would want to rest their stars for the weekend and take no risk.
Interesting to see who he actually plays.

    • maccathered 6 years ago

He cannot make to many changes,he has already said it will be three maximum and i reckon it will be firmihno and Salah and Trent Alexander Arnold, incoming for them will be Nathaniel Clyne,Lallana, and either Ings or Solanke, whoever he brings in to the team they will still be strong enough to beat Porto at home,i must also add that Porto have injuries also ahead of this clash, they might not even field a strong side,Klopp won’t risk anything imo those players he rests will be on the bench just in case.

    • Mr Fixit 6 years ago

I’m amazed by that. He’s won the tie, should be making 10 or 11 changes and keeping the guys fresh for Man Utd.
I read Porto wouldn’t field a full team because they are out and focusing on winning the league.

    • maccathered 6 years ago

When you have paid for champions league tickets (they are not cheap) then the fans expect at least a team good enough to win,but what i will say is Liverpool do have strength in depth now so any changes are more or less like for like, mean Lallana is an international,Clyne is an International etc etc Mane will definetly start from what i have read, there’s no way he can make eleven changes in this comp as he has stated he won’t risk it to much at stake.

Two poor picks from me yesterday – been on a good run in SA but those were bobbins.

Sticking closer to home and one pick from the NLN’s Moor Lane table-toppers…

    SALFORD CITY VS. TAMWORTH:

I watched Tamworth early season against a dire North Ferriby outfit – the fact it ended 0-0 spoke volumes about Tamworth’s capacity this campaign.

I was due to watch The Villagers take on Salford last Saturday but a bit of snow intervened – the big jessies! It’s been a great year so far for Salford and with the likes of Phenix and Redshaw bangong in the goals, it could be a long evening for Tamworth.

Salford hit two away in the November H2H and with team goals of 2-3-0-1-2-3-2-2-2-2 in their last successive 10 games, I reckon they have the ability to go one better.

Of their 17 home matches, they have only failed to score a brace or more in 4 matches – all against much better sides than Tamworth.

    One selection:

Not quite the weekend I hoped for from a Rams fans point of view. I got the score-line right but sadly it was Fulham that took the 3 points. They’re definitely on a roll. Would not be surprised if they keep up the momentum and chase down that 2nd spot.
Aside from Wolves who seem unstoppable, I cannot see any other team on current form in the top 8 that is likely to join them for auto-promotion.

Derby made a very positive start against Fulham and Weimann had the ball in the net after a clever little move on 5 mins, but 2 silly mistakes gifted Fulham 2 chances that saw us 2 down and about sunk by halftime. A 2nd half saw a much more assertive rams side get on the scoresheet and a late run of chances could easily of seen the rams equalise, but just not clinical enough in the box. Fulham deserved the points.

Up next to Ian Holloways QPR in the bright lights of London. Not a place – the city where Derby particularly have much luck on the road. QPR’s game against Villa was called off but they’ve had 10 days to stew in their own juices following an abysmal home defeat to our rival Notts Forest ( we play them on Sunday ). Whilst QPR have neither the playoff spots or relegation to really worry about, they’re in 15th position. They have 2 wins and 4 losses in 6 matches, the Rams have 1W, 3D’s and a loss. Both teams on 6pts from 6 games. The rams have really hit their historical banana skin patch that’s been a part of our problem for 4 straight seasons. If we don’t right this ship soon, we will not stay in the top 6. 12 points from 11 games for a side chasing promotion is worrying, and if the rams are not up for this winnable match against QPR who have nothing but a few places to play for, then no amount of history between Derby and Forest will gee them into gear.
Derby will know that QPR have the 5-2 monkey on their backs and maybe, just maybe we’ll have the attitude that if Forest can beat them, so can we. Momentum is everything in this league and a hard fought Rams win is my choice bet tonight ( doubled with Fulham to win ) – Fulham are the only side playing tonight I have total faith in to deliver.
QPR can play when they want to, they beat Cardiff and Wolves, but what kind of mentality they bring to the 90 minutes is anyone’s guess. Derby are a bit like that. A shade unlucky too, but we have been blowing hot and cold in games, dominating possession, ruling the roost and then taking a sucker punch.
The last 3 times we’ve played QPR, we’ve beaten them to nil. Last year we beat them at their ground for the first time in 5 attempts. The stats do suggest overs 2.5tmg’s with QPR scoring in 88% of home games. Its about 58 and 65% of QPR’s home games and Derby’s away games have gone over 2.5 tmg’s but it all depends on how we compose ourselves. QPR have leaky defence, and Derby have conceded at least 2 in each of our last 4 games. We went from the best defence stats to ” worrying ” inside 4 games.
Sadly I won’t be around for team news, I’ve been awake since 11pm and i’m likely to miss the match. No fresh injury concerns but Baird is still out for his straight red. So Wisdom will cover.

Derby desperately need this win, not just for the points, but because we’re playing Forest at their ground on Sunday and any momentum we can gain to take into that match, we really should be seizing it. If Forest can beat QPR so convincingly, so can we. I’m sure if I was Rowett, I’d be saying the exact same thing.

Derby are around 23/20 to win tonight, I’ll take that and double it up with Fulham to also win.

    Good luck tonight guys.

    • nathanufton 6 years ago

Weimanns goal was deemed offside, sorry, forgot to add that. Once that goal was ruled offside, the whole 1st half was dominated by Fulham.

    • nathanufton 6 years ago

tired, i’m making silly mistakes, Derby have 1 win, 3 draws and 2 losses from our last 6 matches.

    • Mr Fixit 6 years ago

Cheers, reckon they’ll both win too.

    • nathanufton 6 years ago

Prices were a tad out on betfair, Fulham at 10/11 and derby are actually a massive 6/4. They also have this match clearly down as an overs 2.5 reflected by their 2/7 price.
Worth considering Derby to win and overs 2.5 tmg’s is a massive 13/5. Both teams are ropey at the back, QPR marginally worse. Vydra’s lack of goals in the last 3 outings has not really affected his ATGS price of 6/4. My only concern on the overs 2.5 is that Derby have won 3 times on the bounce to them – all to nil. BUT to counterbalance that, Derby have conceded 2 or more in their last 4 matches.

    • bixieupnorth 6 years ago

    Hull Over 10 Asain Corners

Hull V Millwall Over 4 Corners each team
Accrington V Morecambe Over 4 Corners each team
1 point trixie 0.25 per line
Also risking half a point on the same fixtures 5 corners each team as a trixie 0.125 per line

I wouldn’t be confident backing a team 5-0 up from the first leg especially with such a massive game coming on Saturday
Liverpool will not be at 100% and if we are resting any of our front three then the threat we pose is significantly reduced
60mins onwards i can see this one petering out, under 1.5 second half goals 5/6 for me

    • maccathered 6 years ago

Still taking Liverpool on the handicap united on saturday or not,Klopp will want goals as he always does the more the better,i also hope Ings gets to start as he is a bloody good player. Also note we were 0-7 up against Maribor but still beat them 3-0 at home expect something similar.

    • dt4854 6 years ago

The Maribor games were in the group stage, and Liverpool collected 3 points for each. Two-legged knockout matches are a different kettle of fish.

That’s strong enough to win – how many changes is that?
I can’t believe anyone is thinking Liverpool could lose the tie – they could even play at my old left-back position and be OK.

I dont think anyone can be making a definitive opinion on the game tonight until you see the line up.
I’m not going down…midweeks are not as easy to juggle from north of the border and i reckon it will be a bit of a damp squib tonight.
The back of The Kop will sing as always but you wont get the usual Anfield electric Euro Atmosphere tonight.
The job was done over there….JK has said he has too much respect for the competition and Porto to make wholesale changes but I’d still be happy to see them given our trip along the M62 early Sat to face that shower…..i’d much rather have a fresh Bobby and Mo going into that game.
