THERE'S a busy weekend ahead and as usual it's all about picking the right ones from a long shortlist.

Last week I put up a winning German both to score treble and have another today – with not many of the Scottish games catching my eye for goals.

The Top Treble is also a European won while the Super Single is another draw no bet – simply because Bournemouth look big at Swansea. Reasoning for that one is on the English preview and I've also posted a Scottish preview and later will put up a Betfred Cup Final preview of Sunday's game between Motherwell and Celtic.

Last night I took the draw no bet option with Leicester and proved the right call as they were held 1-1 at West Ham. The Foxes led early but Davie Moyes's home side improved as the game went on and probably deserved a point.

My fourfold was downed by being one goal short at AZ and ironically all the Jupiler League games went over 2.5 goals so well done to everyone who was on.

Greg's Nap on goals at Nimes was a winner but his Sochaux bet didn't land.

    DOVER ATHLETIC VS. FYLDE:

It’s never a good tactic to appear too confident on a public forum and it pays to add reasoning and humility when confidence is high as there are no absolutes in sports betting.

Same rules apply here but it’s a bet I’m sweet as hell on.

Dover are in fine fettle; 2nd top, a great campaign and the best goal differential in the National League.

But…Fylde come with a health warning that the bookies aren’t acknowledging.

I’ve highlighted their ‘goals for and against’ prowess these last couple of seasons and whilst that still stands true (their current form is excellent) it may pay to consider their travelling calibre.

You have to go back to February to find the last game they didn’t score away from home – that’s a 17 game run across the current and previous campaign.

    One selection:

    BTTS…4/6
    ?????

    Best of luck.

    • jos 6 years ago

Your right there, Hullster. Dover are having a cracking season so far. Hope it continues for um. But as you say, Fylde also, are doing their lot to make, in my opinion, the National league one of the best and toughest around. The fight and the glory of making it into the football leagues “proper” is, for the promoted fans,a dream to show off their colours. A great feeling that many diehard fans shed tears of joy on their teams doing so. Got the T- shirt when Wigan were voted into the 4th division way back in the 70’s. Voted in for godsake!! Spent some time in the Premier league against the real big boys, and hell, even won the FA cup against the great Man City! That’s the dreams of the lower tier clubs and fans. For that may be one day moment. Football, it’s more than a game indeed, Shanks. Anyway, Dover win btts for me.

Disappointing night with Glenavon being shut out for the first time this season despite my confidence. Things looked promising with an early Linfield goal suggesting an open game, but it sounds like by all accounts that it was a frustrating night for the hosts from then on.

Confidence was high but it wasn’t to be. Onwards!

    Coleraine v Crusaders

And funnily enough, I’m heading in the same direction. Another clash between two sides scoring freely in the NI Premier and another game in which I fancy both sides to net. Crusaders have been truly prolific on the road and it should be an open affair if they adopt their usual approach.

Again, name-factor means that top of the table Coleraine are noticeable underdogs on their own turf, but they’ve scored in all four meetings between the two sides this calendar year. 3 of those 4 meetings saw BTTS and Overs land and a cup meeting just last month saw Crusaders win 3-2. Another recent meeting at Crusaders’ patch saw Coleraine win in the league 2-1 earlier this season. Given that Crusaders have scored 32 goals in 9 away domestic fixtures this season, there should be just as much chance of goals now that Coleraine – 26 goals in 9 home domestic fixtures – are the hosts.

    BTTS and Over 2.5 Match Goals @ 10/11 (Bet365)
    _________________________________________

    Crystal Palace v Stoke

Not often I pick a Premier League tie to focus on, but Palace’s little upturn in home form hasn’t gone unnoticed. Since the shock victory against Chelsea, they’ve played out two entertaining 2-2 draws with sides who were experiencing their own woes (West Ham, Everton). Now Stoke visit Selhurst Park after a couple of 2-2 draws themselves and have been generally leaky at the back all season.

With Stoke lurking amongst those sides gathering near the drop, Palace ought to be up for this one as they desperately search for points. Hopefully that leads to an open game. Palace still have yet to keep a clean sheet in the league (and have just one all season), while Stoke have just the two league shutouts. I like goals here at a fair price.

India’s premier club tournament is all set to start from tomorrow. Even though a lot of people will be debating about whether the I-League is the premier tournament any more, officially the I-League is still the ‘top-tier’ league in India, according to the All India Football Federation (AIFF). Although we have the ISL being recognised by the AFC and the winner awarded an AFC Cup spot, the winners of the I-League get the prestigious AFC Champions League playoff spot.
The I-League returns, with a new set of rules and some new teams. The major change in the rules is that teams in the I-League this season can sign up to 6 foreign players and field up to 5 foreigners in the starting XI. We also have a couple of new teams in the league. With the inclusion of Gokulam Kerala FC, we have the league return to Kerala after a long gap. Meanwhile, the I-League reached the hills of Manipur for the first time, as NEROCA FC gained promotion.
The I-League kicks off with one of Asia’s oldest clubs, Mohun Bagan travelling to Ludhiana to face Minerva Punjab. It is never easy to play in Punjab in the winters, and it will be interesting to see how the Mariners cope with the weather change
Mohun Bagan didn’t have the best of seasons during the Calcutta Football League and lost out to arch-rivals East Bengal for the eighth year running. Mohun Bagan have recruited some fine foreign players for this season as they picked up last season’s top goal scorer Asier Dipanda, Aussie midfielder Diogo Ferreria, Japanese medio Yuta Kinowaki, striker Kromah, defender Kingsley and have retained their star winger Sony Norde, who will lead the team in this season’s I-league.

bet to consider – bagan to win ???

I am not going to pick a winner here but if i had to i would side with Liverpool and thats not just because i support them its mainly because the opposing side will come to play football and not park the bus,any team thats goes to Anfield and play the game how it should be played is quite welcome and that will suit Liverpool down to the ground.I expect Moreno will not play today for his individual errors that cost Liverpool the game in Seville so Milner should come in for him,i’m opting for goals here with both sides scoring should be a thriller correct score 4-1 at 33/1
    best of luck.

    Wolves v Bolton

Was on wolves during the week and they didn’t disappoint – they hammered Leeds 4-1 and are looking like proper champions at the moment. They should manage some more goals today a against a poor Bolton side

    Hamilton v Hibs

The accies did what was expected last week and defeated a shambolic Rangers side 2-0 :) They host Hibs side who will be licking their wounds after last weeks 93rd minute loss against St Johnstone. Hibs drop too many points agains teams they should be beating and although this will be a tough game for them today in taking them to get back to winning ways and scoring two here

mr f i decided to study ur btts to score treble as i normally follow u on a saturday.im finding it hard to understand why u have doncaster in there.in there last 3 leeg games they have managed 1 GOAL.surely with so many games there has to b more sound choices.

    • bobreaksbookies 6 years ago

Gotta look for goals in Germany Jim. All 5 games today could see BTTS.

    • Mr Fixit 6 years ago

Firstly you should always look at the games yourself and decide whether you like my picks. If you don’t you shouldn’t back them.
When I study games I don’t just look at how many they have scored recently – in their last three games Doncaster have scored one as you say but the blanks were away to Wigan and Fleetwood. At home they’ve scored in six of their last seven and MK Dons, apart from the FA Cup game at Hyde, have won 4-3 and drawn 2-2 in their last two away.
Bottom line is any team can score in any game so this isn’t an exact science. Other factors such as team news, h2h stats, general form and even odds have to be considered.

  25. bobreaksbookies 6 years ago

    Today’s NAP

14:30 Eintracht Frankfurt vs Bayer Leverkusen – Prediction 2.2
Best Bets – BTTS @4/7, BTTS and over 2.5 goals @20/21
    Key Facts

    * Frankfurt have seen BTTS and over 2.5 goals scored in 7 of their last 9 home league fixtures, including each of their last 4
    * 13 goals were scored in those 4 most recent home fixtures
    * Frankfurt have seen BTTS in each of their last 7 league fixtures. 5 of those also went over 2.5 goals
    * Frankfurt are unbeaten in their last 6 league fixtures, winning 3 and drawing 3
    * Frankfurt have kept only 2 clean sheets in their last 13 home league fixtures
    * Leverkusen have seen BTTS in 15 of their last 17 league fixtures
    * Leverkusen have seen BTTS in each of their last 9 away league fixtures. 6 of those games also went over 2.5 goals
    * Leverkusen have only kept 2 clean sheets in their last 25 away league fixtures
    * Leverkusen are unbeaten in their last 7 league fixtures, winning 3 and drawing 4
    * 4 of the last 6 meetings between these two sides saw BTTS
    * Each of the last 3 meetings in Frankfurt saw BTTS and over 2.5 goals scored

    Final Verdict

Goals look highly likely here and the BTTS price of 4/7 does reflect that but I’m still happy to take it with all of the stats above suggesting that BTTS has every chance of landing in this mid-table Bundesliga clash.

Both sides are in good form, so I expect an entertaining back and forth contest that is also likely to go over 2.5 goals with Leverkusen so prominent in these markets in the last 6 months.

With both sides drawing a fair share of their recent fixtures, and given their proximity in the table, a high scoring draw is my tip here although given that only 1 of their last 14 meetings has finished level, I won’t be adding the draw to my final selections.

Extra confidence in our goal picks can be taken from the last 3 meetings between these sides in Frankfurt which have produced BTTS and over 2.5 goals in all 3 contests and with Leverkusen so hot in these markets, and Frankfurt doing well at home, these are two of my more confident selections of the day.

  26. bobreaksbookies 6 years ago

And one more of my German previews. I’ve got 7 more previews for today’s fixtures from across UK and Europe. You know where to find me.

    14:30 Augsburg vs Wolfsburg – Prediction 1.1
    Best Bets – BTTS @4/5, Draw @11/5
    Key Facts

    * Augsburg have seen BTTS in 4 of their 6 home league fixtures this season.
    * Going back further, Augsburg have seen BTTS in 11 of their last 14 home league fixtures since February
    * Augsburg have scored in each of their last 14 home league fixtures
    * Augsburg have won only 1 of their last 7 league fixtures
    * Augsburg have seen BTTS in 4 of their 6 most recent league fixtures
    * Wolfsburg have seen BTTS in each of their last 8 league fixtures
    * Wolfsburg have seen BTTS in each of their last 3 away league fixtures
    * Wolfsburg have drawn 7 of their last 8 league fixtures including their last 3 away fixtures
    * Wolfsburg have scored in 10 of their last 12 away league fixtures
    * These two sides are separated by only 2 points in the league table

    Final Verdict

I don’t expect a goal-fest here but recent form suggests both can score @4/5 while a share of the spoils seems the likeliest outcome with Wolfsburg developing a liking for draws with 7 in their last 8, including 3 in a row on the road, and Augsburg drawing 4 of their 12 fixtures so far this campaign.

Augsburg have slipped in recent weeks following a bright start to the season but they have scored in 14 successive home league fixtures while Wolfsburg have improved lately, drawing their last 3 on the road with BTTS in all 3. I expect the same here.

BARNSLEY v LEEDS over 1.5 mgs.
    MANSFIELD ncs .
DOUBLE pays a shade under EVENS.

    Summary :
The Championship sides last season ended in both games over 2.5. Leeds can’t stop conceding and have tailed off from early hot form. They more often than not net on their travels , bar 1 all of their away games have gone over 1.5. As for home side Barnsley , 7 of their 9 games have gone over 1.5. They’ve failed to score against Villa, Hull and Cardiff, three teams that to date are and continue to fair better on trips then Leeds!

Jack Lester’s team have turned a corner and results and goals are evident . They’ve scored in last 6 games, and goals on their travels have come at Lincoln, Crawley, Cambridge and Swindon. In fact prior to change of Manager, the team had netted in 3 of 5 away games, blanks coming at Luton and Notts County ( no shame there ). As for Evans and boys, form presently is very good! Home stats though show only 1 clean sheet in 5, with 3 let in against free scoring Swindon. Although a local derby ( Lester played in a few!) I’m hoping Chesterfield’s buoyant form nicks a goal, or 2!

Good luck all with bets today ?

    • warktheline 6 years ago

As posted! Chesterfield to score a goal or two !

    Portsmouth v Plymouth

Portsmouth’s home form has historically been in and out and this season is no different, results are unpredictable so the 4/7 on offer seems pretty skinny to me. Plymouth on the other hand have had a bit of a much needed resurgence with recent away wins at Bradford and Wimbledon and a creditable draw at Blackburn only conceding one goal in the process ( albeit only scoring three). I’m not sure if the ” RN derby ” is meaningful but if it is I would be swayed even more towards Plymouth. Bit of a punt but will go Plymouth @ 6/1 with the safer 7/2 DNB. Good luck all.

    Wolves Bolton

Enjoyed beating Leeds 4-1 Wednesday. Was there as usual and apart from 15/20 mins at the start of the 2nd half it was as good a performance as I’ve seen from Wolves in 30+ years of watching.

It’s all too easy to start to get complacent as a fan aswell as much as it is for the team to… but some of the attacking football from us is sublime.

A caveat I’d put on today is that our record against Bolton isn’t all that great. They’ve been somewhat of a bogey team for us. I remember the days of John Mcginley who lets just say isn’t a popular man amongst wolves fans.

I see it being much closer than Wednesday. Wolves are at there best against good teams who try to come and get a result. I suspect notlob to set up pretty much as Cardiff and Preston did. Close, physical and stopping us playing football.

So far we’ve not broke down those sort of teams aswell as the sides I see as good (Leeds, Villa, derby etc). Today could be the turning point where we find plan b and batter NOTLOB or could be a tight cagey affair where Bolton take a point.

Wolves 2+ goals – 4/9 (this would be a 10 point NAP for me today but the odds are only worth doubling with another)

    Wolves win and over 2.5 goals – (20/21 NB – 5 points)

    Cavaleiro ATGS (13/8 – 2.5 points)

Cav has hit form and if you look at his goals against reading and Leeds his composure and confidence was something else. On Wednesday night he was MOTM for me and just about as dangerous and difficult for a defender to cope with as I’ve seen anywhere. Well worth a go for a goal today.

Richb, enjoy the game today mate ??

    • richb20806 6 years ago

Thanks Greg. Scarily am really enjoying it at the moment. after too many years of going up the Molineux being a chore and considering throwing my season ticket out of the window many times it’s weird that I now spend every day looking forward to getting up there.

Big fear for us is losing Nuno as a manager. Definately believe that he’s destined for bigger and better things than us in honesty.

What websites does everybody use to check stats, recent form etc? Usually use soccerway but don’t like the new layout they have started using on leagues. The old layout was perfect.

    • mr. orange 6 years ago

Change the flag to another country at the top of the site and you will get the old layout. I think only the British one has the new layout

Anyone fancying an in play bet check out the Singapore Cup game

    Albirex Niigata v Global

Both these teams are in very good scoring form and this Cup fixture usually sees goals

I tipped Global v Hougang / other Sinagapore teams recently and both legs saw 4 goals

    Going for

    Over 2.5 mgls
    7/10
    1 POINT

    Over 3.5 mgls
    2/1
    1 POINT

Had to type this quickly as game kicked off and only just saw it

    • alex_mufc83 6 years ago

After 35 mins Albirex 1-0 up and have had 7 shots on goal, Global 5 shots on goal

      That’s chances created I mean.

    • alex_mufc83 6 years ago

Well that didn’t go to plan.. ended 1-1 despite 20 shots on target. Sorry guys will make up for it on next one.

    IPSWICH ncs.
    BRISTOL ROVERS ncs.
    GILLINGHAM ncs.
    UNION SAINT ncs.
Four fold pays a shade over 4/5.

    Summary :
McCarthy has hinted at ‘resting players’ ahead of busy schedule with small squad. They’ve conceded in every away game to date ( home stats very similar ) and would be amazed if trend bucked today!
Bristol Rovers form poor and away day blues should continue in the form of Blackburn !Apart from a stand out win at Northampton they’ve continually leaked goals! A continuation of last seasons stats. Blackburn are more than a match for them today, and have netted in all bar one home game to date!
Oldham love goals and have plenty of fire power to unsettle the Gills today . Gillingham’s form has upturned of late but I’ve followed their stats and have been astonished by how they’ve gained results! They’ve conceded in last 4 and Oldham have netted in last 8 away days!
Nigel Pearson’s boys are in fine form, and enjoy a goal or two in their travels! In last five away averaging 2 per game. Union saint have conceded in last five on home soil averaging 2 per game!

    CHARLTON x2 4/6.
    Summary
Scunny are currently on a tremendous run of form BUT they’ve generally struggled to gain results against teams in and around top 6.Defeats coming on home soil against Blackburn and Wigan, and away to Shrewsbury. Yes they’ve beaten Bradford but most of Bradford’s best work has come on the road. Charlton are a solid side and don’t surrender easily coming from behind to beat Rochdale midweek. On their travels they’ve tasted an opening day defeat and as stats highlight an unlikely defeat at Gillingham. Always capable of scoring and I can’t see them losing today in a tight game!

Good luck all with bets today!?

Mohun Bagan have recruited some fine foreign players for this season as they picked up last season’s top goal scorer Asier Dipanda, Aussie midfielder Diogo Ferreria, Japanese medio Yuta Kinowaki, striker Kromah, defender Kingsley and have retained their star winger Sony Norde, who will lead the team in this season’s I-league.

bet to consider – bagan to win ???

bayern munich to b winning ht.best team in germany by miles.not 1 but 2 down ht.
and sheff utd must b certs to beat birmingham who r woeful so al take them ht. lol yip birmingham 1-0 up. av nvr known football to b so hard to fathom as this season its nr impossible.

1st leg of the treble in but the Chilean games could be a write-off…3rd minute (?) red card for UDC followed by another on 59.

San Lorenzo Reserves v Argentina’s Reserves

    1.5 POINTS
    **WON** :D

    On a side note;
Nice to see my favourite team for reliability at the mo back to winning ways with a 4-0 win away to Cerro, after a rare loss last week, they’re top of the Uruguayan league table with 13 wins out of 14 games and a big plus goal difference. I’m backing them every game to win and/or to score 2+ team goals and they’ve been great so far – a team to follow guys.

    IN PLAY – Mexico

Loros De Colima v Monarcos Morelia II

League leaders Loros have won 9 out of their last 10 games, Monarcos have been very inconsistent and have drawn last 4 games 1-1.

    Loros DNB
    1/2
    4 POINTS

    Loros to win
    11/8
    1 POINT

    Also on this double;

    Loros to win
    Plaza Amador win
    7/1
    1 POINT

    • alex_mufc83 6 years ago

After Loros took the lead, Monarcos somehow managed to nick a goal and the game ended 1-1 again ? – that’s 5 games in a row now for Monarcos should’ve stuck to BTTS ? – Main bet *VOID* Stake returned.

      Other two lost.
