IT'S the day Celtic fans have been waiting for but they should be excited as well as scared at the prospect of facing PSG.

Losing to a side valued at around £700million would be no disgrace but for Scottish football's sake I hope Brendan Rodgers's side put up a good fight.

At home in the Champions League they usually make teams work and in 27 group games only Barcelona (3 times), AC Milan and Borussia M'gladbach have beaten them although Celtic have never started a campaign with a win.

I've posted a separate preview and best way to approach this it go for goals and on Sunday I posted a Celtic to score Super Single and the odds are now below evens. I'm also doing a speculative one on Hoops skipper Scott Brown to be booked first at 19-2 with McBookie.

Brown was previously sent off for a clash with Neymar when Barcelona visited Parkhead and there's no doubt he'll be in the faces of the superstars as Celtic to try put them off their rhythm. Brown plays on the edge and just last weekend was cleared of stamping on a Hamilton player when it was deemed there was insufficient evidence to charge him.

Elsewhere Man United should beat Basel at home while Chelsea will play a weakened side against Qarabag but are still expected to pick up the points at Stamford Bridge.

Biggest game is Barcelona v Juventus and I don't expect the Italians to lose and in Celtic's group Bayern should be too strong for Anderlecht.

Other games are Roma v Atletico Madrid, Benfica v CSKA Moscow and Olympiakos v Sporting and I'll be studying them closely before putting up top tips.

There is also a big card in the lower leagues in England so it will be down to the newsagent's in the morning for an RFO then some serious stats packing.

Championship leaders Cardiff travel to Preston having dropped their first points of the season at Fulham on Saturday.
Wolves, who could go above Leeds into the automatic promotion spots, entertain Bristol City while fellow high-fliers Sheffield United are away at Bolton.
Two teams recently relegated out of the Premier League meet in the midlands when Aston Villa host Garry Monk's Middlesbrough.
Brentford will hope to secure their first win of the season at Sheffield Wednesday, fellow strugglers Burton are at Norwich, QPR and Millwall meet at Loftus Road and Nottingham Forest visit Sunderland.

Desmond, Greg Browning and Scott Allot have posted their tips and I've decided on me having spent the bulk of the morning studying stats and form. Usual problem on a big card – too much to choose from and it's about trying to highlight the correct ones.

Last night was a no bet for me – and probably just as well with West Ham deservedly winning and Malaga surprisingly going down to Las Palmas – but good to see plenty of people winning from non-league and lower league games including Greg on the Belgian matches and HullShaker on the National League.

I know its only the Mickey Mouse cup but my beloved Derby away to Barnsley at around 21/20 has to be in with a shout. Yes they’ll be playing with changes from the side that hammered a decent Hull side 5 nil on Saturday, but with Butterfield sent out on loan to Sheff Wed, Bryson also on loan to Cardiff, Blackman on loan, Christie sold, Wisdom injured and Baird in at right back, I don’t think Derby have as much flexibility when it comes to squad rotation as they did prior to the Grimsby game.
Martin will probably start ahead of Nugent, Russell could come in and take his place back off Lawrence, the keeper may sit this one out.
Apart from that, I don’t think the gaffer will do 9 or 10 changes that he’s been making in these games. I think 5, maybe 6 tops. But with the likes of Anya/Martin/Russell as potential front 3 attacking players, there’s maybe Olsson may sit this one out for the player he was brought in to cover during his injury last season – Forsyth. So he could figure. Maybe Pearce in central defence; so 5 quality players + a keeper. 6 changes. Well, we must be buoyed by the last league result and that’ll give us an extra 10%.

My bet for the day will be wins for Derby, Leeds, Norwich. Leeds bagged 5 without reply at the weekend, this is another home match. Norwich should provide a tough fight against a Burton side that have just sold their best player Jackson Irvine to Hull.
I think Burton and Bolton are primed for a relegation scrap this season. Bolton are woeful. Burton are not much better. I think Burton’s honeymoon period is well and truly over.

£10 returns just shy of £50 with betfair.

Morning gents – Champions league, pfffft, it’s all about the Conference south. It’s turning out to be one of the best leagues for goal lovers

    Truro v Chippenham Town

The hosts are on fire – they’ve won 4 on the spin 2-1 2-1 2-1 7-2 and with 8 of their 10 games this season seeing over 2.5 goals we should see some more tonight against a Chippenhan side who have seen 24 goals in their last 6 games and who have conceded at least twice in 5 of their last 6. Been no shortage of goals between these two with 5 of the last 6 seeing over 2.5

Oxford City v Weston Super Mare

Two sides who know where the goal is but sadly can’t defend. Oxford have seen both sides score in their last 6 games with 5 of those ending over 2.5 – it’s even more impressive looking at the visitors games this season. 9 out of 10 have seen both teams score with 9 of those ending over 2.5

Back over 2.5 match goals double 6/4 ( William Hill) (NAP)

    ***************************

    Fleetwood v Bury

The pressure must be mounting on Bury manager Lee Clark – 4 points from 6 games could see Hullshaker appointed before long. Fleetwood have been impressive at home this season scoring at least 2 in the 4 matches they’ve played. They should inflict another defeat on this Bury side – I can see Bury netting, but given how good Fleetwood have been at home we should see some goals here

Back over 2.5 match goals 21/20

    ***************************

There are 6 matches from the SPL development league – as usual we’ll see goals in these games – can’t narrow down so going for a speculative 6 fold that pays 11/1

Had to read this a couple of times to make sense of it :) :) :)

Truro > 1.5 TGS, Leeds to Score Evens – Main bet
Rotherham BTTS, Oxford City > 1.5 MGS Evens
Cavani, Morata ATGS Double 1.3/1 – half stake
    Leeds > 1.5TGS, PSG > 2.5TGS, Bristol R / Accrington Win 10/1 – small stake

2 of my bets involve Truro and Oxford which Greg has already highlighted for goals. Truro are in good from and Chippenham face a 200mile trip so fancy them to grab a couple. Despite losing Chris Wood, Leeds are scoring freely bagging 5 at the weekend so would expect them to get at least once against Brum who have lost the last 4 games. Rotherham and Walsall have seen BTTS in last 5 H2Hs. GL all today

    Doubtful: Alex Sandro (illness)

Also i am counting on Mbape to score, Neymar will take 2-3 players on him when he will have the ball under control, a single pass to Mbape can be enough.

Is the first game and to tell the truth, i afraid to place high risk bets, i will keep it on low stakes and going for draw on halftime at Benfica and Barcelona to win.

I will post later if something other comes up.

    Wolves v Bristol City.

Bristol city don’t enjoy trips to the Molineux and I’m sure won’t be relishing coming tonight. They haven’t won here in many years.

That being said though Bristol are a good side and have started well.

Rumour has it that Bristol may go 3-5-2 which is interesting as this is the tactic Southampton used to try and counter us and it didn’t work well for them against our second string.

I’m expecting something very close tonight and would take another 1-nil happily and think that we will see lots of 1 nils over the season.

I’ve said for a few weeks though that at some point we are going to destroy a team when it fully clicks.

Expecting a relatively unchanged side from Saturdays team which beat Millwall. Maybe see Cav in for Marshall.

    Worthwhile Bets:

    Wolves win

Bonatini ATGS (due a goal but is here for his link up play more so)

Jota ATGS (probably the best player I’ve seen for Wolves since the late 80’s early 90’s…… yes even better than Helder Costa IMHO)

NAP: Wolves Win 17/20. 5 points.

    • vishal29 7 years ago

richb20806 , any reason why odds of Wolves are drifting ?

    • richb20806 7 years ago

Hi, hadn’t overly noticed a drift but have checked Oddschecker and agree there has been a slight drift.

There are no known injury worries (as yet).

The weather forecast is torrential rain and wind tonight and I can only think that it’s the media hype of “CAN THESE FOREIGN YOUNGSTERS DO IT IN THE RAIN AND COLD”.

This sort of stuff can cause odds to drift a bit.

I personally think they will have no issues and know that a few of the lads… Neves in particular have noted the crap in the media and has said he actually prefers playing in cooler weather and doesn’t mind the rain (as it rains in Portugal and is chilly in the winter).

You just know that NES will use some of the media crap as part of his team talk.

    • vishal29 7 years ago

    • richb20806 7 years ago

      Exactly…. couldn’t agree more.

The more fans post info on their own team the better. Gives a bit of inside info which makes the betting go better.

Of course we’re going to get it wrong sometimes but I’d sooner go into it with some “insider” info.

I know my team like the back of my hand. There’s Nathan who knows Derby the same. I’d never bet on Scottish teams apart from Celtic and Rangers before joining this site but now happily bet on all manner of Scottish football.

Knowledge is power (and profit) so unfair to ever knock a losing tip.

    • Mr Fixit 7 years ago

I like to hear views of fans such as Nathan and HullShaker on Bury.
Sure you have to take into account their allegiance but it’s good to see how confident they are and fans usually know best.

    • richb20806 7 years ago

Absolutely. There’s a lot of confidence at Molineux at the moment and for the first time in many years we’re playing great football and expecting to win.

Wait for Helder Costa to return though…. about 2 weeks off but rumours of a cameo in the cup game next week.

When’s he’s match fit and linking up with Jota, Bonatini and with Cav waiting in the wings it’s going to be something special and a lot of teams will struggle to cope with us

Accrington were a solid side on their own turf last season and have continued in that same fashion so far this season. After six games they sit in second place, winning all three home games comfortably. Stanley have scored 14 goals in the league, 8 of those in their 3 home games, but also put 3 past Preston in the cup and dirtied the sheets of Tony Pulis’ WBA in defeat, too.

Manager John Coleman has hailed his strike partnership and, in particular, Billy Kee (5 goals, 2 assists). Coleman noted after the 3-0 win at home to Carlisle on Saturday that he felt being able to bring both Kee and strike partner Kayden Jackson off well before the 70 minute mark should see them fresher than anticipated ahead of Grimsby’s visit.

Grimsby have started poorly – 4 defeats from 6 and one of their two wins against lowly Chesterfield – a game in which they still conceded. 13 goals conceded in their opening 6 is not the best of records to be taking to Accrington in their current form.

Accrington Stanley O1.5 Team Goals @ 10/11 (Various)
    _____________________________________________

Similar to Accrington, Shrewsbury have won all three home games this season and, though less prolific, have yet to fire a blank this season. They’ve scored against Southend in their previous 5 meetings and should do so again. Colchester have had a patchy start but are much more convincing at home. Chesterfield conceded 5 on the road on Saturday and look to be in trouble.

Wolves to win 1-0 correct score

    11/2 @williamhill

    • Mr Fixit 7 years ago

I quite like Wolves but Bristol City are a decent side and could score.
As always English midweek card isn’t easy.

    • ollyh2016 7 years ago

You’re very right Bristol are tough opponents this season I just have a gut feeling I’ve never bet on a correct score before fingers crossed for us all

    • richb20806 7 years ago

Yeah I’ve said a few times. Wolves will see a few 1 nils this season. NES likes a dominant possession based style of football and has worked wonders in our defensive capabilitys which have been none existent in recent years.

1 nil is fairly likely but the caveat would be that as Mr F says, Bristol are a good team and that coupled with the threat of torrential weather at the game tonight could change things a bit.

We expect to win tonight and if we’re serious about top 2 then nothing else will do.

Bristol could nick a goal. Could even go away with a point though. I’d be shocked if we lose though.

Can’t get my head round the odds for the Barcelona v Juventus match.
Why are the home side so short priced and Juve so long?
I would expect this game to be pretty tight.

Nobody worried about the 27km winds picking up this evening putting a damper on the the lower league goals coming???

True for example is going to be horrible for playing footie.

I’m in Denmark so any weather info is appreciated.

Up here in Glasgow it’s a calm night although could be some rain later.
Weather shouldn’t affect Celtic v PSG.

    Ebbsfleet v Aldershot

Ebbsfleet are 18 homes without a loss but they have drawn 5 straight so far. Ebbsfleet have dropped 10 places in the last month. They have couple of players back from injuries. Aldershot have dropped 6 places in the last month after one win in 6 games. They were seriously depleted for Saturday’s home defeat by Dover and look like missing up to 7 players for this game.

    Gateshead v Chester

Gateshead won 3 of their last 4 at home and drawn 1. They are yet to concede at home. They have beaten both the bottom two at home to nil. Chester have lost four straight here.

    • sean567 7 years ago

I said on a fb post yesterday afternoon I fancy them to win it this year, and nothing I watched last nite makes me change my mind. I agree with your mates, however for me most of the goals came from Celtic mistakes that you’d expect players of that calibre to punish ruthlessly, and they did

  64. Jordan 7 years ago

Snatch and grab for CSKA who held on to beat Benfica and make it their first lost at home since December. Hard lines.

Sticking with the Champions League but making a double. City travel to Feyenoord who I can’t see keeping City under wraps after their rout of Liverpool on the weekend. Take them to score twice and double it up with Monaco to score at Leipzig. The French lost their star man in the summer, but still have the faces around to cause trouble, which we know they like doing away from home in this competition (11 in their last 13).

NAP: Wolves Win 17/20. 5 points.

    other bets

    Wolves Win to Nil 21/10.

    jota atgs 21/10.
    Bonatini atgs 8/5.

    …….
    …….

Didn’t go to plan. Ended up 3-3. We deserved the win but the referee was truly abysmal and we seemingly couldn’t defend a set piece for toffee.

Great game of football and Bonatini and Jota both scored so it wasn’t a disaster betting wise.

My fourfold also downed by us and Benfica too.

Apologies to anyone who was on it

  68. williams1993 7 years ago

Having taken a closer look at tomorrow’s Rugby Union match, i’ll be on the following:

Canterbury v Counties Manukau (8.35am KO):

Braydon Ennor (Canterbury) to score 2 or more tries @3.6 (Bet365)

To put it simply, Ennor has been on fire. He was a member of the U20 NZ side that lifted the World Cup earlier this year, and has just this week been signed by Super Rugby side Crusaders (the winners of this year’s championship), so there is definitely potential. Out of the 3 matches he has played for Canterbury so far, he has scored a total of 6 tries alone (4 last week, and 2 the week before). The bookies have set the line for Canterbury’s tries at 5.5 (which tempts me a lot!), and the weather looks all clear; everything points to a high scorer. With Ennor’s confidence riding high and his team with the momentum and ability to smash Counties, i see no reason why Ennor cannot get on the score sheet at least once, hopefully twice. On that note, you can get Ennor anytime tryscorer @1.57.

    GL all.
