RANGERS made it through their Europa League qualifier with no dramas after a 0-0 draw at Shkupi while TNS went out after a remarkable match in Oswestry.

The Welsh champs beat Shkendija 4-0 at home after losing 5-0 away and that was a great effort as they almost pulled off a miraculous comeback.

On Wednesday there are six Champions League qualifiers including Celtic v Alashkert and one Betfred Cup tie as Hearts visit Highland League Cove Rangers.

In the next round Celtic face Rosenborg or Valur and the Norwegians have work to do after losing 1-0 in Iceland.

That was a shocking result and I'm backing them to turn it around. Rosenborg are 3-5 with Marathonbet to qualify and just 1-5 at McBookie to win on the night.

Elsewhere take Qarabag, 1-0 up on Olimpija Ljubljana, to complete the job with a home win at 13-20 with Betway.

I've posted a separate preview on the Celtic game but finding value is difficult with them leading 3-0 from the first leg.

My only bet on Tuesday was a Betfred Cup double that won at 6-4 thanks to Partick Thistle, Inverness and Queen of the South.

Well done to any winners and good luck tonight.

2pts Daily Double

  • Qarabag (6pm)
  • Rosenborg to qualify (6.45pm)
  • (6-4, Marathonbet)

Advised Accas (from July 17): +3pts

Morning kick-off so put this up now
Vegalta Sendai btts&overs 21/20,no clear favourite as odds suggest but when these both met recently it ended 4-2,plus side both seem to know where the net is judging on home&away from
    Best of luck

We move on to the MLB, starting with the all star game.

All over the AL line up. Its a bit of an exhibition BUT the winning side gets home advantage for their conference in the World Series.

American League to beat National League @ 4/5- 10 units
American League -1.5 runs vs National League @ 17/10- 5 units.

Prices dropping now @ 5/8 and 29/20. Still well worth it for my money.

    • tennisace 6 years ago

Mookie Betts, All Star MVP @ 8/1-1 unit.

Do not take him as league MVP by accident. He may well be but I need to check prices.

As usual I’ll have my say on Celtic. We are out too put markers down too Steven Gerrard across the city this season, a statement of intent of what he’s up against and I expect Celtic too go at it as if it were 0-0 from the first leg.

Despite players missing through WC involvement I don’t see there being much defending too do tonight so the onus is all from midfield too front against weaker opposition at this stage. It’ll be 3 across the back with youngsters Hendry & Ajer alongside Simunovic.
Brown, Ntcham and McGregor have the jerseys centrally but Rogic’s return will make it interesting in there. Tierney on the left is the first on the teamsheet with Brown and Forrest the first choice on the right of a new 3-5-2 formation. McGregor and Forrest have added consistency and goals too their game since a Rogers arrived.

Up top the young French duo of Dembele(22) and Edouard(20) who I reckon will fill their boots tonight in front of goal. Dembele will probably be in his last season in Glasgow whether it be January or next summer but his talent far exceeds Scottish football and its inevitable he will move on. Edouard has just signed permanently from PSG and looks every bit as talented as Dembele and will no doubt move on too bigger things elsewhere in 2-3yrs. But in the meantime if they stay injury free they will cause havoc and score plenty domestically while having the ability too shine on the European stage if the chance arises.

Expecting Celtic too win by 4+ on the new hybrid surface layed in the summer. Fast flowing football with plenty goals

    Celtic goal before 24mins 5/6
    Celtic – 1.5,2.0 AH 1st half 2/1

It was pap in Paraguay last night and apologies to anyone who might have been on – looking for a shot at redemption in Iceland where cooler climes in the Cup may just offer up a sacrifice to the goal gods…

VÍKINGUR REYKJAVÍK VS. VÍKINGUR ÓLAFSVÍK (2015 KO):

A really interesting history between these two sides who fought out plenty of battles in the old 1 Deild before the hosts raised their game.

    Context:

Both sides are in ‘OK’ form domestically with VR sitting 5th and VO edging the respective formbook in 3rd place having put some comfortable wins in place in recent games as – to be fair – have mein hosts.

    Stats:

    * Olafsvik have scored at least 1 goal in 9 sucessive games.

    * Reykjavik have scored in 6 of their last 7 matches.

    * BTTS has landed in 9 of the last 13 H2Hs.

*BTTS & OVERS has landed in 7 of the last 13 H2Hs.

    * Reykjavik have scored a brace in a cracking 12 of the last 13 H2Hs.

    * Reykjavik have scored 3 or more team goals in 7 of the last 13 H2Hs.

So, we have two teams in fair scoring form heading into an encounter that certainly has a bit of history to go at – I’m taking on the following:

    BTTS & OVER 2.5 MGS…20/21
    (Bet 365)
    ???

    VIKINGUR REYKJAVIK OVER 2.5 TGS…13/8

    Best of luck gents!

    —Double—
    Rosenborg v Valur Rejkjavik
    Celtic v Alashkert
    Over 2.5 mgls
    1.38/1

    Reasons;
-Rosenborg trailing and obviously need to net at least twice to qualify, good home scoring record, but are also quite leaky at home, Valur decent on the road and should create a few chances to score.
-Celtic fully expected to run out comfortable winners tonight, anything else would be a big surprise.

Just read that will take klopps spending over 500 million . Wow

    • maccathered 6 years ago

      Hardly,i don’t think Klopp has spent£ 150,000 yet

    • alex_mufc83 6 years ago

That’s what all the news is saying, £500M. That’s what you have to do to compete in the top 4 anyway.

Polar opposite of what Klopp said 2 years ago though when United bought Pogba lol. love it.

    • maccathered 6 years ago

He hasn’t spent nowhere near £500 million,i don’t care what any newspaper says it’s simply not true,he still hasn’t spent the Phillip Coutihno money lol

    • maccathered 6 years ago

Man utd set the benchmark when they paid all that for an average player, from then on average players became expensive,it was Man Utd that started the price wars on players, funny though because Liverpool are as rich as Man Utd now and can afford to pay vast sums,Man Utd cannot Make a marguee signing this summer because of the Money involved in Bringing in a nearly 30 year old Alexis Sanchez who commands 26 million per season,Jurgen Klopp at the end of last season was + £150,000,Liverpool hadn’t spent a penny and reached a champions league final, who’s the better Manager??

    • mr h 6 years ago

Klopp for all his ability has been a runner up in major competition more than he’s won. Mourinho has 20 major honours including league titles in Italy, Spain, England & Portugal. A couple of Champions Leagues and a couple of UEFA/Europa League titles. Love or hate him Mourinho is top drawer, he won his Champions League titles with Porto and Inter at a time when in Spain Barcelona were spectacular and Madrid were going Galactico in transfers and Sky was pumping up the cheque books of England’s finest.

I feel his style of football is last years football however and progressive coaches with a more attack minded pressurised game is now coming too the fore like Klopp and Guardiola. Right now I’d rather have Klopp but you can’t dismiss Mourinhos record and claim he’s better when you’ve won next too nothing

    • alex_mufc83 6 years ago

      Klopp
“Clubs can go out & spend more money & collect top players. I want to do it differently. I would even do it differently if I could spend that money. The day that this is football, I’m not in a job anymore”

With Alisson, Klopp has *spent* £500m at LFC

    • maccathered 6 years ago

      As he hell.

  15. andrewfoster3 6 years ago

Would b a bit of a hypocrite if he had spent that much after all he said

    • maccathered 6 years ago

I think every manager in the league criticised Man Utd for the price they paid for Pogba,it was ludicrous,it was one way Man Utd were trying to pump up prices to try and ensure other clubs couldn’t compete with them,it backfired as the other big clubs just continued to get richer,Liverpool now are valued are well over 1 billion and are on Par with Manchester United and by the looks of it Liverpool have the better scouting staff etc also.

    • alex_mufc83 6 years ago

Love the typical finger pointing “it’s all United’s fault”

“Klopp is the Messiah, he’s different from all other Managers in PL. ”

      Just so lame.

    • maccathered 6 years ago

How much did they pay for Pogba, there’s your anwser. Is Pogba not average??he’s certainly not world class. So tell me since when have big clubs been paying over the odds for average players??Since United bought Pogba, use your brain man.

    • alex_mufc83 6 years ago

For France he’s World Class, at Juventus he was WC – the majority of Managers and pundits would agree that. For United he’s been average and I’ve said that all along, he needs to prove himself in a red shirt. He was rated WC when United bought him.

The whole point of this is that Klopp is no different from any other top flight PL manager – he has to spend big to compete. All Managers are in the same boat to be in the top 4. As a counterpoint, look at Spurs.. hardly spend much in comparison and are constantly struggling to make Top 4 or win anything – yet their Manager ranked one of the best in Europe.

  16. micky lfc 6 years ago

Mac some people believe everything there read ?

  17. micky lfc 6 years ago

Can you imagine klopp telling FSG he’s guna spend £500 million….there would have a coronary!

    • maccathered 6 years ago

What people don’t understand is a manager isn’t only judged on trophies,he is judged also on what he spends, take Alex Ferguson for example he spent only 200 odd million in his time at the pit of misery and was a success.Jurgen Klopp has the same attributes and this is what makes him one of the best Managers in world football, spends little and still gets us to cup finals.

    • alex_mufc83 6 years ago

Liverpool have spent £231 million on transfers but recieved £226 million in players sales,so that equates to a net spend of £5 million since Klopp took over, however todays purchase of Allison and the incoming Nebil Fekir will take Jurgen Klopp’s spending to £140 million,if you take of the income Liverpool recieved for reaching the champs league final then Klopp is in the black.

If Liverpool are prepared to spend 30 million on Andy Carroll then Utd and other clubs can pay what they want.

    • maccathered 6 years ago

True, but Andy Carroll looked the part at Newcastle and £30 million wasn’t that much for a striker,no one knew he was injury prone until he joined. Some you win some you lose.He didn’t cost nearly 100 million.

    • alex_mufc83 6 years ago

Paul Pogba looked the part at Juventus

      £30M in 2011 = £100M in 2018

    • alex_mufc83 6 years ago

      *2016

    • maccathered 6 years ago

Pogba looked the part at Juventus because he was playing in a team that attack and didn’t have the worry defensive wise, now he is playing in a team to frightened to attack for fear of losing, that’s not Pogba’s fault that’s Mourihno’s ego and unless Mourihno changes that they are going nowhere.

    • -wato- 6 years ago

No one did back then 30 million was up there with the top transfers. Now because of the vast amounts of TV money available to clubs especially in England then every club can now buy a player for 30 million plus. Leicester and Bournemouth doing that a few years ago would have been unthinkable

    • mr h 6 years ago

Wato it’s very frustrating being a fan of a club the size of Celtic and watching clubs like Leicester, Brighton, Bournemouth, Southampton, Burnley etc spend £10,20m+ on players and they then tell you players like Tierney aren’t worth £25m when James Maddison(who?) can go for £25m+. English football is too blame for the inflation of transfer fees not Man Utd, not Real Madrid etc but the English transfer market in general

    • old al 6 years ago

All this school yard squabbling is getting a bit tedious for those of us who follow teams who can’t spend 3 million let alone 30.
