After a great week I suffered for my second Saturday running – as is often the case picked the wrong one from my shortlist.
The Super Single was a sore loser as Dundee missed a penalty when they led 1-0 and claimed the Partick Thistle keeper should have been sent off.
Luton also beat me up badly – downing the challenge bet, Bet of the Day and denying me moneyback on the fivefold acca. How they can fail to score at lowly Crawley is a puzzler.
Hoping to recoup Saturday's losses on Sunday and there are some decent games. In the Premiership it's Spurs v Liverpool at Wembley while Everton need to get going at home to Arsenal. Ipswich face Norwich in a Championship derby that's been low scoring in recent seasons.
Rangers tackle Motherwell in the second Betfred Cup semi-final hoping to set up a showdown with Celtic – and I was spot in with Celtic and btts yesterday. It won't be easy as Well are on form but the Ibrox side should progress and Gers and btts has a chance.
I posted a both to score treble and early Top Treble last night and have added other tips. An injury-time penalty from PSV landed the treble with Villarreal and Chievo winning so that's the day off to a good start.
For a Super Single I'm on an evens money double. As I said elsewhere Everton v Arsenal is a meeting of two off-form sides but at least the Gunners boast a goal threat with Alexandre Lacazette, Alexis Sanchez and Olivier Giroud.
Everton are missing Romelu Lukaku more than they could have thought and if there's a winner here it's Arsenal. However, I'm playing safer with draw no net and doubling up with Motherwell to score against Rangers at Hampden in the Betfred Cup semi-final.
On their day Well can match up to the Ibrox men but will they handle playing in front of 38,000 Rangers fans in a national cup semi – I'm not sure.
But like Arsenal they have goals in them and in Louis Moult boast one of the best strikers in the division. The Fir Park men are 1-2 to score and should hit the target.
Having earlier posted a treble my only other bet is a moneyback fivefold. With Nice flopping I need the other four to win for the stake to be returned (as a free bet).

Newcastle put another downer on Palace but could only muster a late goal. Today I’m hoping there is value on the home side in Switzerland where Lugano head to Sion on the back of a five game losing skid conceding 15 goals in the process. Lugano have also had to deal with a Thursday night Europa League game in a hard fought 3-2 victory of Plzen. Sion haven’t faired much better, but should be in better shape. They’ve scored 2+ in their last five at home to Lugano. League form should hopefully continue on the road.

Not my best day yesterday, with only 1 out of my 3 tips landing. Today we have the final two games of round 3, with Brisbane Roar hosting the Jets, and Perth Glory hosting the Mariners.
Brisbane Roar v Newcastle Jets:
Roar have been pretty bad so far, losing to Melbourne City in the opener, and then being surprised by a 2-1 loss to Adelaide at home. They have not adjusted well to life without Thomas Broich, and I reckon it’s going to hurt them against a rampaging Newcastle Jets side.
The Jets have been in blistering form, tearing it up 5-1 away to the Mariners, and then fighting a 2-2 draw against a good looking Glory side. The Jets do not have a great record away to the Roar, but this is the best squad I reckon they’ve ever pulled together, and I think they’re being really underestimated today.
Perth Glory v Central Coast Mariners:
Perth have had two tough games so far, just barely losing out to the Wanderers, and fighting out a score draw against a tough Jets side. Their attack is as good as ever, and I do fancy the wins to come for this solid side sooner rather than later.
The Mariners were not expected to start as positively this season, with Montgomery expected to be hard shoes to fill. However after being thrashed 5-1 by the Jets, they came out last round and fought out a surprise 2-2 draw against the Wanderers. They are missing Andrew Hoole through suspension, which is going to hurt their attacking options however, so I really do fancy Perth Glory here.

Apologies to the site for my usual pre-Derby thoughts and team news, my irregular sleep pattern is the culprit but its a cross I have to bare.
It is a shame I never posted ( and I know that people will say ” you’re only saying this because its already happened ” ) – but I was going to draw peoples attention to Derby’s unbeaten in 5 matches, Sheff Weds form dipping lately and without Fernando Forrestieri, ( out for at least another 2 months ) – Sheff Wed don’t seem to be coping that well without him.
Last week against Forest, I suggested Vydra and Nugent were Derby’s biggest goal threats ( drawing attention to Vydra’s shots to goal ratio – it makes Lionel Messi’s stats look average ) – well Vydra took just 23 seconds to get the opener against Forest – CHECK. Nugent also netted straight after the break. CHECK. I also suggested both teams would go for it and both sides could easily grab 6 or 7 corners apiece. 7-7. CHECK. I also pointed out that whilst that match and when we play Leeds, there’s usually a flurry of cards but this past few matches we’ve faced off against either of them, the cards have dried up. I know Forest got a late booking, but I think that’s about how that ended. So I’ll take another low cards CHECK on that one.
I thought the match against Sheff Wed would be similar with both sides contributing to the corners, I felt Derby would edge out – even though last season Sheff Wed got the better of us twice I think. And I also felt Vydra and Nugent would again be our front-runners for goals.
Vydra opened his account from the spot awarded at 3 minutes that saw Glenn Loovens red carded. Johnson got the 2nd about 6 minutes after his late cameo sub appearance. Both sides missed chances, the ht scoreline could of been 2-1 very easily. We squandered 3 or 4 very good chances, and Sheff Wed forced a quality save from Carson and they missed a header that should of hit the back of the Derby net. The 2 nil scoreline didn’t really tell the full story. Both sides went for it, both sides racked up corners and even down to 10 men, Sheff Wed DID put up a fight. I’m inclined to believe that Glenn Loovens will be a big big miss for the next couple of Sheff Wed matches. ( so factor that in to your bets guys ).
Derby are away to Norwich next week and I need to look into some of Norwich’s matches and team ins/outs before I can advise. FYI Mattej Vydra is now the championship joint highest scorer on 7. He is thriving on his role just behind Nugent, and even Chris Martin ( a nailed on 20 goals a season striker ) can’t get in the starting 11. George Thorne made another late Cameo, so he’s steadily building up match fitness. When he returns to full fitness, it will be like a new signing – watch this space.
I’ve also never made a scret of Derby’s historic ” purple patch ” ( October/November ) – just a damn shame it keeps getting interrupted with international breaks. We have a tough couple of away matches to come but we seem to be finding a nice patch of form. Now unbeaten in the last 6 for the rams, so the momentum is with us. I hope it stays.
