MAY 30: TENNIS AND OTHER SPORTS TIPS

tennisballgeneric

ANDY MURRAY reckons there could be fireworks in his Saturday morning showdown at the French Open and the Scot will hope to be at his explosive best to defuse Aussie upstart Nick Kyrgios.

Murray has won both previous meetings in straight sets and turned on the style to knock Kyrgios out of this year’s Australian Open quarter-finals.

The British No.1 is just 1-8 at William Hill for victory in the third round with his 20-year-old opponent 6-1 at bet365. Another straight-sets Murray win pays 9-10 at Stan James and to progress in four he’s 14-5 at 888sport.

Another Aussie starlet, Thanasi Kokkinakis, looks to stage a major surprise against Novak Djokovic and Rafa Nadal goes into battle against Andrey Kuznetsov.

In the women’s singles today top billing goes to Serena Williams’ clash with Victoria Azarenka – who had three match points in her defeat to the world No.1 in Madrid recently. Williams is 4-9 favourite at Sportingbet while Azarenka is available at 21-10 at Betfair and William Hill.

England head into day two of their second cricket Test against New Zealand in a decent position after restricting the tourists to 297-8 on day one at Headingley.

There’s plenty more action on a packed Saturday of sport including the likes of golf, rugby and boxing so good luck with your bets and let’s hear your tips and thoughts.

    Cycling: Giro d’Italia 2015 stage 20

    Match-ups, winner in capitals:

    CONTADOR v Aru
    KRUIJSWIJK v Konig
    Double @ 2.03 with uni-bet / 888

Last mountain stage of the Giro. Aru won the stage today and I think he will have to pay the price for that effort tomorrow. Contador has won the race overall and could go for the stage win.

Kruijswijk still got a small chance to win the KOM jersey. He is one of the best climbers in the race and he should be with a very small group at the finish. Can’t see Konig make that group.

Rugby Union – Bath v Saracens (Premiership Final) …. Bath to win 4/5 … watched quite a few of both teams matches this season. I am a Leicester Tigers fan so hate to back the old enemy (from days gone past) but think their back line (Joseph, Eastmond, Watson) and attacking style of play will win. Will be a close game. Will also be interesting to see how many Saracens defence players Slammin Sam Burgess commits in play to free up space for the Bath backline!!

    Good luck!

One short of the full house again with the only single failing in the Sassari v Milano match. Although bookies were offering inplay Milano total points at 94.5 after the 3rd quarter, somehow they managed to score a measley 7 points and with the help of former US basketball star Rakim Sanders, the underdogs Sassari won the game 75-84. Very dissapointing considering Sassari are not well known for their defensive abilities.

Its Another small card tomorrow, but hopefully I can dig out a few gems!

I’m not sure if Kevin mitchell has died and been reborn again as a super champ as everybody seems to be tipping him to win, luckily for me the sky team talk so much shit it’s nauseating.

Linares is the better fighter, and should win, will be putting quite a large stake on it, but will cover the draw just in case.

4/5 with ladbrokes for linares to win.

  6. Picksix 2 years ago

Captain you’re right on that one I think linares is the much better fighter too and is definetely worth a bet, I don’t fall for any of that British media hype either it’s just to get people to watch the fight

  7. Captain 2 years ago

    Your right Picksix.

    Speculative bet,

    Linares to win by knockout,
    Brook by KO,
    Joshua by decision
    Khan by decision,
    Selby decision

The above is 75-1 with 365,

The only bet which is unlikely to happen is the Joshua by decision as he has been unstoppable and has KO’d everybody, the rest of the bets have quite a chance of coming off , 75-1 is outrageous, thought it would be closer to 40-1, £10 stake ,

Could happen but Defo worth the shot with it being a 75-1 chance,

OK Ok I know this isn’t sport but I believe a genuine opportunity to take some money from the enemy (bookies).
I kind of forced in to watching Britain’s Got Talent but saying that I don’t run away from the TV when its on. To me there is a clear winnwaddington Isaac Waddington. There is competition from the 160 piece Welsh choir and Simon Cowells puppet but neither have the talent of isaac he is simply brilliant.
Now in terms of the odds he currently sits at 7/1, I had a fiver at 20/1 earlier in the week. In terms of betting things are looking good the other strong thing in his favour is that he cruised through to the final with a reported 60% of public votes. 7/1 is still value and I’m going to stick my neck out and say he will win.
    Good luck all

Another 1/3 night again with just under a unit loss.

I’ve got to learn my lesson from this and never bet against the Cards. I think this team has made a pact with the one downstairs as no matter what injuries they get or how bad they play, they always find a way to win!!

Not sure I will have time to pick anything this weekend – Which is just as well since I have now won just 2 from my last 8 selections.

  19. Martin 2 years ago

Kvitova I think is going to down my treble at the first hurdle. Thought she might drop a set as she is prone to it but looking really solid.

  20. Dazzler 2 years ago

Jaseos evens and above picking is difficult in the MLB and you had that great run last week don’t forget.
Weren’t you 3/6 on your short list? Might be worth backing all your picks at half stakes, see how that works out?

  24. Hunter 2 years ago

Difficult to say Martin. At a push possibly the Austrian and German selections. The Flamengo game just as good a shout, but early tipoffs have a habit of stinging me! No theory in that and still feel confident about it.

Thanks for the update I’ll think I’ll go with the Austrian and German games. Keep up the good tipping. Wiuld havering your yesterday but had a bad run recently and low on funds.

  26. mlac 2 years ago

gradovich’s odds are crazy @9/4 to win….this is a 50/50 fight, with a slight edge going to gradovich…who is an unbeaten warrior, his KO percentage is very misleading, he was throwing Bombs agaisnt velez in his last fight and was robbed with the draw.

selby will have to pull of the fight of his life to win…

also i havent seen much of linares but most boxing fans are picking him to stop mitchell.
    another 50/50 fight

however Brook by KO is more of a ‘safe’ option, gavin is garbage and has been struggling with domestic level opponents, id be shocked if brook won on points.

i also fancy joshua points @ 10/3, odds are too good
also over 6.5 rounds is 7/4.

he wont knock johnson out, this has a good chance of coming in as johnson has never been stopped even against the likes of vitali, however this has gotten a ‘british stoppage’ written all over it.
johnson doesnt throw many punches and when hes backed agaisnt the ropes joshua will unload and the reff will most probobly stop it IMO.

also fancy john ryder @ 4/7 but another 50/50 fight.
    great night of boxing.

  27. mlac 2 years ago

sorry brook by KO is 8/15.

    under 7.5 rounds 6/5 also.

    Boxing bet

    Amir Kahn vs chris algieri

    * Fight to go the distance @ EVS **WON**

Algieri has gone the distance with pacquiao and provodnikov who are much harder hitters than Kahn the only doubt in this is Kahn has the ability to throw flurrys of punches wich might not put algieri on the canvas but could lead to a stoppage , I feel this has more chance of landing than not

Rubbish by Goffin. First main bet loser, oh well start again.

Afternoon Guys, Magic Weekend Day 1 tips

Rugby League’s big weekend kick off with 3 games at St James Park with a Hull derby later and the headline act tonight League leaders Leeds facing Wigan.

Salford City Reds v Widnes Vikings 2:30

I have commented on Salford throughout the season and the bookies cant really split these two, Salford are getting a 2pt start on the handicap. Captain Kevin Brown is expected to return for the Vikings and that could be crucial. I can see plenty of tries in this one, the conditions are perfect for fast open rugby and the big St James Park pitch also lends itself for plenty of tries. I fancy Widnes to win and they can cover their total tries set at 4.5 as I can see them getting 30pts. It is 8/11 Skybet.

Salford have scored 50 tries and conceded 63 this season, while Widnes have scored 63 and conceded 68. My best bet on this game is Ben Jones- Bishop to score at 11/10 Ladbrokes. He has pace to burn and only needs to find a bit of space to expose the Vikings defence. For Widnes any of their backline can score but coming off a hat trick last week I like centre Stefan Marsh who has 8 in 14 and is 13/8 Skybet.

    WIDNES 04.5 TEAM TRIES 8/11
    JONES-BISHOP TO SCORE 11/10
    MARSH TO SCORE 13/8

Hull FC v Hull KR 4:45

The battle for Humberside is at stake this evening and while the Robins have held up the upper hand in recent derbies it is KR getting a 2pt start here. I cant really call the winner but again I can see points being scored. Hull FC have winger Tom Lineham back and with 12 tries this season he can cross the whitewash at evens at Ladbrokes while KR winger and top scorer can also cross for a try again at evens with Ladbrokes. A tight game looks on the cards with the winner going into the top 8 and a draw wouldn’t surprise me at huge odds and worth some loose change, however I can also see a drop goal being kicked if as expected it is nip and tuck, and it is 2/1 Betvictor.

    LINEHAM TO SCORE 1/1
    SIO TO SCORE 1/1
DROP GOAL TO BE KICKED 2/1

Good luck if your having a bet

Cheers Dazzler, that might be a good idea, not to over-think it too much and trusting my gut. To put things in perspective, of the £220ish I won before, I have lost under £80 of it, so still up over a £140.

Fed surely has enough to take down Monfils to make it 4-0 to the Swiss against the enigmatic Frenchman at Rolland Garros. He is too good a front runner to let Gael claw his way back to another 5 set epic comeback win, and Monfils usually faded after thrilling the French crowds in the early rounds. @ 2/5 it’s just a case of what to double it up with. Stan? Maria? I’m not really sure as I’ve been away from the TV for most of the week, but I’ll be interested to hear people’s thoughts on the day’s action.
