IT didn’t look good after four minutes but under 2.5 goals somehow came in at Hamburg v Karlsruhe to give me another Super Single success – this time at a smaller than normal price of 8-11.
I make no apology for that as I’ve worked hard to turn a 20pt loss into a profit this month and that takes me to +1.7pts.
One part of the treble was fine – both to score at Heerenveen – but I’m not sure what happened with the Romanian games although it looks Steaua played for the draw they needed to clinch the title.
I’ve had plenty of time to do research this week but as usual on a Friday I’ve been concentrating on my Saturday column in the Daily Record which will be focusing on finals – the Scottish, English, Spanish, French, German and Premiership play-off second leg.
On Friday there are two more Italian promotion play-offs and Pescara must be worth a look at home to Vincenza after their superb win at Perugia on Monday. Avellino face Bologna in another match.
In Sweden Hacken go to Gefle going for a fourth win in five while in Norway Odd should make it five victories in six at home to Aalesund. Finnish champions HJK tackle KPS and ROPS face VPS.
There are nine Irish Cup ties including Dundalk v Shelbourne and St Pat’s v Shamrock Rovers and I’m sure we’ll get an insight into some of these matches on the comments section.
And there are plenty of league matches in Austria and Switzerland as well as Turkish Super League contests but Galatasaray have clinched the title and there’s nothing to play for throughout the division.
There’s a friendly this morning between Houston Dynamo and Man City (1.30am) so watch for teams before considering a punt on that one. Adelaide and Villarreal (11am) also meet and reports suggest the Spaniards are fielding a full-strength side – probably part of the terms and conditions.
I’m not that keen on betting on friendlies but of they’re interested Villarreal will win and are 1-2 at Paddy Power to do so. To score 2+ they are 4-11 at Paddy Power and it’s one worth watching (Villarreal won 3-2 from 2-0 down so well done anyone who backed them).
I’ve had half an hour or so to look at Friday’s card so apologies for lack of reasoning and insightfulness. I’ve decided to put up two Super Singles and hopefully at least one will win.
First up I’m on Pescara who have won two out of two since Massimo Oddo was appointed boss. Vicenza finished seven points above them in third but won just one of their last five to miss automatic promotion. Pescara are unbeaten at home against their rivals in seven meetings (4 wins, 3 draws) going back to 2003 and are worth a look at 6-5 with BetVictor.
My second pick is Bray to beat Limerick. The Irish Cup games are interesting but there are only two all top-flight games – the other being St Pat’s v Shamrock which is tough to call.
Bray v Limerick is second bottom v bottom but while Bray have won three their visitors are yet to get off the mark. Bray have won three and draw one of the last four meetings at home and having beaten St Pat’s recently – as well as suffering a couple of doings – they are worth chancing at 23-20 with boylesports.
For a 1pt Top Treble I’ve taken three hot favourites on the handicaps. Back Benfica -1 in the Portuguese League Cup Final against a Maritimo side they recently beat 4-1. Add France U-20s in the Toulon Tournament as they try to follow up their 3-1 defeat of USA with good win against Qatar.
Complete the treble with Finnish champs HJK Helsinki who should beat KuPS with something to spare.
2pts Pescara (5.30pm)
2pts Bray (7.45pm)
1pt Top Treble
Benfica -1 (7.45pm)
France U-20s -1 (6pm)
HJK Helsinki -1 (4.30pm)
(11-2, Paddy Power)
