I PUT up two Super Singles on Wednesday and both won as I wiped out May's losses. First up it was Panathinaikos draw no bet away to PAOK at 13-10 – I was close to taking them to win at 11-4 – and that was followed by Carlos Bacca to score and Sevilla to win at 21-10.
Bacca hit a double but Dnipro made us sweat as they went down 3-2 in a cracking contest and to be honest I wouldn't have been too disappointed if they'd forced extra time.
So I'm pleased to say after being more than 20pts down on the Super Single last Saturday I've turned it round in four days and it's showing a tiny profit – and that's taking 0.2pts off for the cover I did on a draw in Warsaw late on.
I was a Grodig goal away from landing the Top Treble but that remains in healthy profit.
Tonight it's all about Rangers v Motherwell in the first leg of the Premiership play-off final. I'll post a preview of the big game later but from earlier comments you'll be aware I'm finding it tough to call.
Elsewhere there's not much on the go with two vital matches in Romania and play-offs in Germany, Holland and Belgium.
Hamburg avoided the drop with a 2-0 home win against Schalke at the weekend and for the second season running face a play-off to maintain their record as the only club to have played every season in the Bundesliga since it was formed in 1963. Their opponents over two legs are Karlsruhe who finished third in Bundesliga B despite winning only five of their last 13 matches.
Last season Hamburg drew 0-0 at home to Greuther Furth and won 1-1 away in two edgy ties. They should have learned form the experience and having only lost one of their last four at home – to Wolfsburg – I can see them taking an advantage into the second leg in Karlsruhe on Monday. They are 11-10 with BetVictor and William Hill.
However, they have some injury concerns and if striker Ivica Olic doesn't make it a better bet could be under 2.5 goals which has come up in 11 of their last 14 games and remember their home leg last season was 0-0.
Hamburg are also without midfielders Valon Behrami and Petr Jiracek and face a side who had the best defensive record in Bundesliga II with 17 clean sheets in 34 games. Like Rangers v Motherwell it should be tight and tense and I'm chancing under 2.5 goals as the Super Single. It only pays 8-11 which is smaller than usual price for the SS but I make no apologies for being a bit more cautious having just returned to profit.
Heerenveen take on Vitesse in a Europa League play-off and stats suggest both will score but it pays just 1-2 at bet365 as bookies are aware of the figures. The last 11 meetings have brought up this market and five of the last six have gone over 2.5 goals. When they met in Heerenveen in the regular season in January the home men won 4-1.
Vitesse are in good form with one defeat in 17 while Heerenveen shocked Feyenoord in the last round of play-offs and will be confident. A winner is tough to pick so both to score looks the best call.
In Romania the league title will be decided tonight. Leaders Steaua Bucharest, one point clear of Targu Mures, travel to 10th-placed CSMS Iasi while Targu are at home to relegated Otelul.
Targu have won five of their last six – only losing to Steaua – and should beat a side they've lost just once two in six meetings between the sides. Their goal difference is nine worse than Steaua's so they need to win and hope the leaders lose. You'll get no bigger than 1-6 on a Targu win but they should finish the season in style and cover the -1 handicap at 4-7 with 888sport.
Steaua are also short at 1-4 with Ladbrokes and bet365 and while the draw clinches them top spot it's difficult to see them slipping up against a side who they've beaten five out of five including three out of three away without scoring. To win to nil Steaua are 5-6 at BetVictor and that's worth a look.
I've noticed a friendly between Adelaide and Villarreal but while it's listed as Thursday that's Oz time so kick-off isn't until Firday at 11am. Reports suggest the Spaniards are fielding a full-strength side – probably part of the terms and conditions. I'm not that keen on betting on friendlies but of they're interested Villarreal will win and are 1-2 at Paddy Power to do so. To score 2+ they are 4-11 at Paddy Power and it's one worth watching.
While the Top Treble figures are fine the profit's half of what it was last week so it's time to get back on the winning trail. I'm backing Steaua, Targu -1 and both to score at Heerenveen.

Day 1 Round-Up for the ‘Simon Wright / GillsRob system’
As promised, to try and give a “show and tell” approach I’m running a hypothetical model of Simon Wright and GillsRob’s much talked about system. Hopefully the practical example will help people understand if there is any confusion.
So, on Day 1 (for the purpose of this example) they posted 5 bets. Each had a 1pt stake which I valued at £10 (total bank was 12pts, ie £120).
The results were as follows:
17:00 Czech Cup – FK BAUMIT – over 11.0 Asian Corners @ 1.8
Void (exactly 11 corners). £10 stake returned (ie £0 profit)
Outcome 0
23:30 Copa da Brasil – GOIA – over 11 Asian Corners @ 1.95
Lost £0 return (ie £10 loss made)
Outcome -1
16.30 Hungary – BUDAPEST HONVED – under 10.0 Asian Corners @1.9
Win. £19 return (ie £9 profit made)
Outcome +1
16.50 AFC – AL AIN – under 10.0 Asian corners @ 2.0
Win. £20 return (ie £10 profit made)
Outcome +1
22.00 Argentina Cup – CRUCERO DEL NORTE – Under 9.5 Asian Corners @ 1.95

So 3 out of 4 bets won (75% win rate to date) with a further 1 bet being voided
This leaves us on +2 (add up all the outcomes). The target is to get to +12
This means that the stats now stand at:
Starting bank : £120
New bank : £138.50 (15% increase so far – the target is to get a 100% increase)
Some may say (only £18.50 profit) but remember the key is to get the bank to £240 (ie an increase of 12 points). Once you get to £240 the bets are then worth £20 (with a new target of £480) and then the next level of bets are worth £40 and so on. It’s a steady way to increase your bank – maybe not as exciting as some other methods but the power of doubling is very effective over time ☺
If there are any bets today they will be placed at £10 (1pt each) – Simon or GillsRob will let us know later.
Luke – no worries. I know at a glance it hasn’t made a bundle. However, anaylsis shows a 13% pot increase from five bets which is a good start.
I enjpy goal betting too and plan on returning one day, just fine tuning thos strategy first

GillRob, Simon or DaveWiseman (and PeteT)- Firstly thanks for all the information on the corners strategy. I have been following with interest. Problem I have is I find it hard to track with other bets I am placing on my BET365 account. I tried setting up another BET365 account for corners – but failed as they will not allow more than one account!! Is there another Bookie you would suggest for the corners market or any other ideas?? Many thanks
WasClueless – ive been lucky and not needed to look. I use Betfair and WH for other bets but for corners they are very limited. I can’t recommend another but have you considered switching your other monies to another bookmaker?
Problem with that is Bet365 are usually near the best odds for most markets not just corners.

The nx level should surely be 360….then increase to 30 stake. Which would be + 12. Not 480 (that would be level 4 with 40 stake). Please correct me if I’m wrong

They came from Bet365.
I actually put my bets on around 3pm and I noticed a couple of the prices had dropped by 0.05 but the prices I quoted were correct when I posted in the morning.
So my actual %age profit was slightly less than the worked example (which is really only meant to be a demonstration of how the system works).
Moral of the story for me – get my bets on earlier today :o)
Luke – it’s down to the individual, however if they want to follow our philosophy, then from £240 a score of +12 would hit 480. But if after +6 and reaching £360, of course you can change to £30 stakes.
As stated yesterday, all will be made clearer once we submit details to Mr F as he requested yesterday. Thanks

If you’re averaging more winners than losers, would it not be quicker if you changed your stakes daily? e.g using Pete’s example, if you started yesterday and your bank has gone from £120 to £138.50 then today your 12 slices are worth £11.50 each. Then say by tomorrow if your bank is up to £150 then your 12 slices are worth £12.50 each. Just a personal thought as there’s not much else being spoken about on here, don’t even know if it makes sense, but wouldn’t have thought it’s at all risky as if you go into negative you can then stick with the £10 stake value and never go below it

The system is similar to the FTSE in that regard. It goes up and goes down but over a period of time (a calendar month) we have shown profit each month for the last 5 months.
This is only possible is you also stick to the staking plan

absolutely that’s an option. Rather than daily though I would suggest recalculating once a week or every few days. The amount of stake isn’t set in stone but the rule of 12 remains imperative

funny, on the article I wrote to Mr F yesterday which is sitting in Robs inbox it gives 3 different staking plans. The double your stake at each level, the raise your stake by £10 at each level or a weekly adjustment divisible by 12. The third would be the quickest way to increase profit but also requires lowering stake in bad weeks. So the first two may be more attractive to others as it provides a goal to aim towards and you also never have to decrease your stake. Your daily adjustment falls into this category also.
In summary your idea provides quicker profits but also removes some other elements which people may enjoy.
Horses for courses is probably the answer here but thank you for your input fella

Your method is an option and in fact one I’ve seen used before.
The thing about a staking plan is consistency – you need to stick with it.
Whether you use a moving average approach like you suggest, doubling stakes, increasing by increments what you need is
1) A good proportion of winners
2) Discipline
3) A long term view (there will be losing days and winning days)
The reason I like the system Simon and GillsRob have is because it’s simple and anyone can follow it. The problem with re-valuing points is it’s slightly more complicated for some people and some dont want to spend too much time on the maths.
But, in essence, no reason not to use the approach you suggested mate.

I’m definitely keeping a keen eye on it all, and might start keeping track of the bank balance in pete’s example using a staking plan where the new bank is divided by 12 every morning. Because if it continues to produce positive results, then it’s a decent investment opportunity regardless of how much it excites or thrills. Keep up the good work and good luck

From Rob and my point of view it’s receiving and email once a day with a load of data and importing that into into the programme we wrote, pressing go and waiting then putting that into the second programme and pressing go and it spits out the games that hit the rules we asked it to look for.
Nothing manual , no thrill of finding a hidden nugget and no pat on the back for uncovering a hidden gem.
Then you can go all week, place all the bets and only end up +2 for the week.
However on the positive side , if you are just betting for financial gain, don’t want to deposit any further money, want some time back or don’t have the time or knowledge to do that research then it could be a system to suit you.
As you know, I don’t like betting at all and find it quite boring but enjoying making additional money for for me it’s a perfect system

I have another question regarding Asian corners…
When I go to place an Asian corner bet I often see both whole corner and half corner markets (eg. over/under 10.5 or over/under 10).
I understand the difference between the two when placing a regular corners bet (stake returned if exactly 10 etc) but does this apply to the Asian corners too?
It’s been bugging me for a while so any help would be greatly appreciated!

I understand your certain mate but seriously, even a couple of hundred people here probably won’t affect the price of every market. Money makes the prices change but we’re the little guys in the equation.
In the long run it’s about staking properly and selecting winners – it’s frustrating though that the A/corners market isn’t available widely though.
PeteT, as it’s a niche market it won’t need just money to move prices it will do so if more people than usual are on it. Remember they monitor these types of bets more closely than WDW. Having said that this site alone is unlikely to effect changes when you consider how many account holders bet365 have.

The bet lost as Motherwell had a little more quality when it mattered. Rangers with a little luck could of and should have cleaned up tonight. All the attacking play was from Rangers who deserved more than what the score line suggests. All said and done Motherwell take the lead into the second leg.
