ANDY MURRAY is safely through to round two of the French Open and today sees another busy day of star-studded action.

Defending champ Rafa Nadal aims to get off to a confidence-boosting start against Quentin Halys and top seed Novak Djokovic opens against Finnish veteran Jarkko Nieminen.

There's an intriguing showdown between big-serving American John Isner – 2-5 for victory at Stan James – against Italy's Andreas Seppi, who sent Roger Federer crashing in the early rounds of this year's Australian Open and is 12-5 at Boylesports.

Women's top seed Serena Williams, twice a winner in Paris, begins her campaign against Andrea Hlavackova and other matches worth keeping an eye on include Eugenie Bouchard (4-7, Sportingbet) versus Kristina Mladenovic (13-8, Paddy Power) as well as Karin Knapp's attempt to pull off a shock against Caroline Wozniacki.

Cycling's Giro d'Italia reaches stage 16 today with Alberto Contador 7-2 favourite at bet365 and in the NBA Eastern Final Cleveland Cavs go for the clean sweep as they take a 3-0 series lead into the latest clash with Atlanta Hawks.

There's also the likes of speedway and a cricket ODI between Pakistan and Zimbabwe so good luck with your bets and post your sporting tips and chat here.

Backed Harden in game 3 and thought I’d leave him after that and now he’s running riot. Backed Curry tonight and he misses minutes due to that injury, frustrating as can’t help but think he would have pushed over 29.5 plus he might have had more say on the scoreline.

Thanks anyway for the picks Huggy, I was on Green over 13.5 which won and like I’ve mentioned Curry going off is out of our control but the tip was a good one.

    Rolling bet
    Bet 5
    Giants @ Brewers
Team to score first wins @ 1.38 (a humongous £40.46 on this one)
I am personally going to hold out a till later to put this on. Yesterday the price started at 1.38 for the rolling bet and went up to 1.4. I know it’s only 0.02 but every little helps on these rolling bets and the aim is to get odds of 1.4 or greater so I can hit my target of £10 to £100 over the 7 bets.

Should have went with the wee gut feeling I had about the Rockets. Tennis for today – I think Mladenovic could cause a shock against an out of form Bouchard

  11. Mark69 9 years ago

Ok I’v had a study & for tomorrow I’m going Almagro v Dolgopolov over 38 games at 5/6. They’re matches have been close in the past Dolgopolov winning the last on clay he is the younger higher ranked player so I’m surprised Almagro is favourite but Almagro is very good on clay.
I also fancy Muller to beat Lorenzi at 4/6.

Morning, anyone who missed this from last night also I’m going to go over games 41 at 10/11Seppi v Isner this looks like it’s got a long one written all over it.
    Good luck all!!

  12. Mark69 9 years ago

Shotty, that’s a good treble the only worry would be Kvitova she can be very erratic at times.

  13. Hunter 9 years ago

Heard Curry went off injured last night, doubt that was the only factor in Rockets win but didn’t see that one coming!

Had GSW to cover the spread but thankfully went with a good stake on over 55 GSW HT points, and Draymond Green (Jordan) on my props.

Still a 7 point loss for yesterday but could have been worse I suppose!

    Good luck today guys!

What’s peoples thoughts on this early tennis treble?

    Joao Sousa win
    Kuznetsova win
    Kvitova to win 2-0

Decided to go with the treble I mentioned last night thanks for the advice guys let’s hope it lands odds have dropped slightly so it’s 0.89/1 now at SkyBet

Not a big fan of having the first round of tennis spread over three days. To recap, my 5/1 first round acca of:

    Kokkinakis
    Kyrgios
    Jankovic
    Bacsinszky
    Petkovic
    Stosur
    Kuznetsov
    Svitolina

Is still alive and Sock takes Dimitrov on as a 3/1 underdog today, while Seppi bids to topple big John Isner @ 12/5.

Good luck with all your bets folks.

Mark- agree completely with your poin about Kvitova, was about to make it myself. Kvitova to win in straight sets is not a bet I would ever take on. She picked up the nickname P3tra for a reason!

  18. Felix 9 years ago

Any wta player in straight sets is a gamble to be fair!

  19. Ad 9 years ago

So little do I trust Kvitova that 12/1 for Erakovic to win and 4/5 to win + 6.5 games is whispering to me. I should probably ignore the voice…but I’m not sure I can!

  30. Jaseos 9 years ago

KC Royals let me down in spectacular fashion (14-1 loss) for the full-house but 2 out of 3 is a good return and yet another profitable day.

A result like that shows that anything can happen in baseball. This is why I am desperate not to pick at less than even money, as the value just isn’t there in this sport. A win % of around 40-45 can yield a decent and achievable profit if the time is spent looking for it.

If you look at the day’s games and list your idea of the favourites before seeing the bookies odds, you get yourself a shortlist to work from. There tends to be at least a gem or 2 every day in the underdogs (yesterday’s were the Giants and Rockies for me).

Of course, with the nature of underdog betting, we can have periods of consecutive losers but spells like I have had over this past week or so means accounts can handle them easily.

To follow on from yesterday’s thread about someone moaning about Hunter’s picks… Seriously! How can anyone be following this page and be losing money? And even if you are, nobody is forcing anyone to bet on anything.

  31. Felix 9 years ago

Mladenovic strikes me as being mentally weak. Bouchard is just reckless. Always potential for am upset with Bouchard of course Because of how she plays (all or nothing.

  32. trevor 9 years ago

Mladenovic will be bouyant after reaching final last week whereas Bouchard has shown no form at all

For me its a straight sets victory for Mladenovic

    Trev,…

  34. Juan 9 years ago

Yep the 1st possible upset that caught my eye was Mladenovic to beat Bouchard, wont be going mad as womens tennis is as unpredictable as my bowel movements after a night on the sauce, just a small bet on her.

  37. george 9 years ago

  38. Phil 9 years ago

Been thinking about Djokovic – Nieminen.

Can anyone see Nieminen winning more than 7 games against Djokovic? Under 25.5 games is at 1.95

I’m thinking about doubling it with the Seppi-Isner over 42 games

    The double pays 3.72

    • Ad 9 years ago

That’s a super low total. Novak very capable of doing it but Nieminen on his day is no mug and Novak has need to win that easily so it’s not something I really fancy.

    • Ad 9 years ago

Ellis, It was just a silly. £2 bet, not a tip of any kind. Just sharing my wild optimism with the fine folks on here. A fair price for a little extra zest to what was always going to be a boring match to watch. Wish ITV would show competitive matches rather than big names.

  42. Phil 9 years ago

Cheers Ad. Maybe I’m underestimating Nieminen but from what I’ve seen of him he was terrible.

Not good form either winning 2 from last 7.

Anyone see what happened in the Janowicz – Hamou game? Strange handshake at the end. Video on twitter

    • Ad 9 years ago

Good luck with it mate, it’s certainly got a good chance, just a bit of a gamble. It could all come down to who serves first

    Dimitrov Vs Sock (4:15pm)

Only the second game between these two with Dimitrov winning that H2H which was a 3 sets win in Stockholm last fall. That match also went the distance and I think we’ll have overs again. For Sock 4 of last 5 matches have ended in overs, for Dimitrov 3 of last 5.

Dimitrov isn’t exactly in good form this season while Sock played good on clay and he won his first career title in Houston on clay. Dimitrov is set as big favorite but I really can’t see him winning 3-0 and expect sock to take 1 or maybe even 2 sets from Dimitrov.

    Game Totals: Over 36.5 @ 10/11 bet365

I’ve got one pick that I really like and one pick in a market I have never touched before:

Firstly, the Twins (w/Pelfry) @2.10, at home to the Red Sox (w/Buchholz).

After beating them 7-2 yesterday, with 16 hits spread around their whole lineup, I see no reason why today, the Twins are the underdogs. With Pelfry, they are likey to get 6 innings with around 3 runs given up but should easily get to Buchholz and the Red Sox bullpen, giving them a great chance to outscore them.

Going against the “big name” in Buchholz has served me well so far this year, let’s see if it continues.

    ****

The second that I have my eye on is Detroit. The problem is, they are slight favourites @1.86 on the ML, away to Oakland. Therefore, I have looked at alternative markets and found that for the Tigers to be winning after 7 innings is @2.05. I will explain why I think this is a good shout:

I can’t ignore how much better, in every aspect of the game the Tigers are to the A’s and despite Chavez pitching for them tonight (who is doing very well this year) it is Price for the Tigers that is the main reason for the pick.

On his day Price is up their with the very best of them and this year he has had a lot of those days. The key here though, is he is a left-handed starter and Oakland are 1 win from 10, when up against them this year – None will have been tougher than Price either!

So… despite Chavez being pretty good, I would be surprised if arguably the best hitters in baseball don’t knock a few in off him in the first 6/7 innings and would be very surprised if the A’s did the same to Price.

Dazzler – Is this a market you have done before?

  46. Shotty 9 years ago

    NBA bet

    Atlanta Hawks @ Cleveland Cavaliers

    * Atlanta Hawks total points over 92.5 @ 10/11
    (Double stakes)

I think this is set preety low , they should surely put in a do or die performance against the Cavs , the Hawks are to good to get swept away 4-0 , both teams made a lot of shots from downtown last game and I expect the same again, I’m not to sure they will win the game and the spread is generous aswell but if kyrie is back for the Cavs later they could put up just as big of a score wich is why I’m going with the points total over the spread ( also I need a Cavs win for my eastern conference bet to land)

What the other hoops men on?

  83. Picksix 9 years ago

They’ve been shy behind the ark since the playoffs mate , kyle korver being cold doesnt help , it’s strange to see seing as though thats what there game was all about in the regular season, they’ve been shy to even make the attempts.
What I did notice in the last game is that they were not afraid to pull the trigger where as in the other games instead of shooting the good look they would dribble it inside for a lay up, if they make the most of the opportunities and the 3s drop then the total should land

    Game Totals: Over 36.5 @ 10/11 Bet365 **LOST**

    Good luck!

Thought this might be safer than backing Sock. Can’t believe Dimitrov couldn’t win a set!

  97. thereddevils 9 years ago

Ok, so I lost again with the last bet. I can’t trust anyone ffs.
No tennis anymore for me… Or does anyone have a good bet?

  98. Dazzler 9 years ago

Jaseos I’ve done it once so far this season and it was rangers to be winning at the end of the 5th which came in. Not something I would usually take unless I’m sure.

The only game I like tonight is Giants to beat Brewers but I’m taking a risk as it’s my only main bet tonight and backing them on the run line -1.5 @ 2.2.

My main tip came in which is the important one & a great 3 from 3 so far at the French & unless Muller makes a spectacular comeback the 2 small ones went down for today.
I’ll have a study tonight for tomorrow & see what’s what.

  105. del 9 years ago

Poor day on the tennis for me.
How does nishikori, wawrinka and fed all to win 3-0 look? Sky have it as an enhanced acca at 10/3

  106. Felix 9 years ago

not sure about Nishikori in straights, Bellucci seems to have come into form at the right time

  111. Picksix 9 years ago

    Gonna add this one too

    First half spread

    Atlanta Hawks + 4.5 @ 10/11

    Good luck gents

  112. TadSweaty 9 years ago

Liking Jordan’s… J.R Smith OVR 14.5 on it but can’t find it on hills? Le Bron has been on fire no doubt he can do it but it’s quite high OVR 30.5… I saw he was on the bench before hitting his last shot for OVRS the other night. It’s all a gamble tho right

  113. Picksix 9 years ago

    ^^^
Double stakes on the post above

    Half stakes on this bet

    Assists match bet

Jeff Teague + 2 assists over lebron james @ 5/4 (half stakes)

  114. Jordan 9 years ago

Tad they don’t have it on Hills mate. 365, PP and Skybet.

Bet-Fair have 13.5 @ 17/20 also if you have an account there.

  115. Jordan 9 years ago

Tad very much a gamble mate. J.R Smith doesn’t even start for the Cavs but all it takes is one quarter and he can go off. I was tempted on LeBrons total points/rebounds and assists but 49.5 is quite high even for him.

  116. Jordan 9 years ago

I’ve just realised I’ve put WillHill in my bet hahaha, sorry Tad. It was with Skybet.

  117. Ellis 9 years ago

    Tennis fans,

Who do we reckon will when when Muller vs Lorenzi is resumed tomorrow?

  118. TadSweaty 9 years ago

No worries Jordan mate I know what you mean J.R can explode like you said only takes a good QTR & he’s on way… Bookies not taking much risks with le bron they running scared lol…

  119. Jordan 9 years ago

I’ve just seen ads comment at the bottom. Somebody tell me there wasn’t a moan because his 170/1 lost? Haha

  120. Ellis 9 years ago

    Jordan,

In a sense I can sort of understand where the person was coming from. I know in no way was it a tip , but for some people just coming on here and following it blindly it may have been misleading. I know you would look at 170/1 and think it has no chance, there is two sides to a argument and ad was just following it for fun so shouldn’t be shot down.

I personally believe it was a silly bet anyway as it had no chance haha but ad did it for interest so I don’t blame him for telling people

    • Mr Fixit 9 years ago

Ellis, I don’t agree. No problem mentioning it – any punter knows the chances of a 170-1 shot landing.

  121. Ad 9 years ago

He’s really not quite at home on clay but I’m going to have to back Mahut @ 9/2 to beat Gulbis. There’s a chance Gulbis will finally come alive is week, but the fact is he’s been useless all season ( 3 wins, 12 losses) and Mahut has guile and experience in abundance. 3-0 Gulbis wouldn’t be a surprise, but there are enough variables here to make me want to gamble.

    Mahut @ 9/2

  122. Ellis 9 years ago

    Ad,

What you reckon to the conclusion of muller vs Lorenzi

Providing it’s not 170/1 I’ll pay attention. I’m on muller but may have some more for added interest

  123. Ellis 9 years ago

Had to get the 170/1 in there my friend ;)

    • Ad 9 years ago

Hah. I’ve no idea mate. I fancied Muller to edge it before hand and backed him when he was down at smallish stakes. But as I’ve not seen a second of it it’s hard to say. Watching matches makes it infinitely easier to pick

  124. Captain 9 years ago

    GREAT VALUE
haven’t really been tipping as of late as Everytime I do my bet goes tits up but had to share this bet,

Tsonga v Dudi Sela over 26.5 games, 5/6 with 365,

Been looking at the matches for over an hour and this stands out ,
Great value , even if tsonga comes out firing sela will only need to win 9 games and he played a great first round winning against kukushkin in 3 straight sets,

Also the fact is tsonga has not been playing great of late and has had some difficult matches against lesser opponents , Sela should really win at least nine games over 3 sets at least

    £80 stake.

    • Ad 9 years ago

Decent shout there mate. still reeling I didn’t tip and back Sela in 1st round @ 8/1. Tsonga is only fairly recently back from injury so that’s another thing glint in your favour. I fancy him to win without too many problems, but he’s not the best returner in the world by any means. Underrated clay coutree though and I think he could be in for a good fortnight. Low low total though

  125. Mark69 9 years ago

Evening I’v had a study & for tomorrows overs bet I’m going for Stakhovsky v Johnson over 37 games 8/11. There’s no previous meetings but they look evenly matched & their games match up well on clay for a long match.
Ellis, I was on Muller before the match & had given up hope so hopefully he’ll win but it’s a pure coin toss.

  126. Ellis 9 years ago

    Mr F

Would you back something which has no chance of coming in?

    • Mr Fixit 9 years ago

Ellis, I wouldn’t back a 170-1 shot and it wasn’t put up to be backed.

  127. Felix 9 years ago

Lorenzi actually looked the better player for most of the match and then seemed to stiffen up a bit with a weird injury. Wouldn’t touch it.

  128. Ellis 9 years ago

    Ad,

I would have been comfortable if the match had continued. I watched the match and Lorenzi needed the trainer a few times and in all fairness outclassed muller most of the match.

The momentum was with muller though and I was gutted with the delay which I think swings the pendulum back in lorenzis favour ?!

  129. Felix 9 years ago

Might have something to do with lorenzi playing a hard court tournament 2 days earlier. The transition maybe took its toll.

  130. Ellis 9 years ago

    Felix,

Totally agree. Watching it i would have felt a lot more comfortable my money being on Lorenzi.

However, it’s on muller and I think on the evidence of Lorenzi clearly struggling to close out the match my muller bet has legs

  131. Jimbob 9 years ago

    ELLIS

I DONT UNDERSTAND WHAT YOUR PROBLEM IS THERE HAVE BEEN LONGHSHOT WINNERS OF ODDS GREATER THAN THAT

IF SOMEONE DOES NOT RECOGNISE THAT IT IS A LONGSHOT BET THEN YOU SHOULD NOT BE GAMBLING

  132. Ad 9 years ago

Also going Low stakes High reward on Almagro 3/1, 3-2 @ 24/1 and 20/1. We may know after this one whether Rafas still the king and if the 5/1 outright available on him is the generous price it could be

  133. Ellis 9 years ago

    Jimbob,

I have no problem I respect Ad, I can just understand how people can be mislead

So do me a favour and bore off with your shocking tips
