Morning gents, great day yesterday with wins in the AFC Champions League, Sweden and Estonia. Hoping for more of the same in the AFC Champions League this morning, and that’s where I’ll be paying a visit to…
Seoul v Urawa
Seoul need to score and win without conceding…the first leg saw them lose at the Saitama but had plenty of missed opportunities, so they can’t afford to waste them today in the home leg. Seoul have only failed to score 2 of their 7 AFC Champions League games so far – one of which was away to Urawa in the first leg. Not only that but they’ve notched on average 2.4 goals per game in the tournament so far, so are very capable of scoring. They’ve won 2 and drawn 1 of their 3 home ties in the competition.
Urawa are a decent outfit though, and don’t write them off…They’ve only lost one game so far in the AFC Champions League but have kept it very tight at the back having conceded only 4 goals in 7 games, which is a fantastic achievement. Their defence will have to be on top form today to keep a clean sheet, but I think they’re capable of weathering the storm and will ultimately come out on top.
Sydney v Shandong Luneng
Similar to Seoul, Shandong need a goal – as it stands, they’re leaving the competition on away goals…the bad news for them is, like Urawa, Sydney don’t concede a lot. In fact, they’ve conceded only 5 times in the whole tournament – which is some going considering the group they were in, which included Evergrande, Pohang Steelers and Urawa. Sydney have the vital away goal and can progress with a draw or better here.
Shandong have had a poor start to their season. Domestically they’re average – currently sitting 11th. They’ve done well in the AFC Champions League so far having lost only once but have only scored twice in their last 4 games. Tardelli missed the weekend clash with Henan Jiaye so may not be 100% fit for today. He’ll probably start, but there will be questions on how much of a performance he can give – which may work to Sydney’s advantage.

If Sydney go a goal down they’re likely to press and corners will come.

Firstly today backing SJK in Finland for the home win. After a shocking start to the season they have started to pick up some form with only 1 defeat in the last 5 but still remain second bottom aftter 9 games. All 8 of their points have come after 4 straight defeats to start the season and their only 2 wins have come in their last 2 home games. I think momentum will carry them to a win here as VPS are they visitors and they have lost 3 of their 4 away matches. They did win the other but that was at the bottom side in the league and it was 0:0 late on until PK-35 were reduced to 10 men. Combining that with Bari to beat Novara. The Serie B sides have met twice this season with Bari being held at home and winning away. Bari have been decent at home this season with just 4 league defeats there in 21. Novara finished the season badly on the road taking just 2 point from their last 5 away visits. These are two very tightly matched sides so it will be close but I am hoping home advantage will see Bari edge it.

Don’t know why Oriente Petrolero are 10/1 to win against National Potosi 1/4 in the Bolivian league when Oriente are 2 places higher. AFC bet lost – late goal in the Sydney game blew the unders ..
The game is all but up for Salzburg with one matchday to go in Austria Erste. They’re down unless the team above them totally capitulates and loses by ten-nothing and Salzburg triumph at mid-table Kapfenburg. This isn’t likely to happen, we all know that, eh. But what’s to stop Salzburg believing in a 90 minute miracle by having a good pop as they sink out of sight? They’ve potted in their last 4 despite collecting just 2 points from 12 whilst Kapfenburg hasn’t kept a clean sheet in 8 but has scored in all but 7 of those. Kapfenburg is safe and I was going to go Salzburg merely to score at 1/3 but I think the season’s end in front of a home crowd will see Kapfenberg potting after all. It’s 3rd vs. 1st here, and as I am sure Wattens can outscore Donbirn, they are already promoted and may not have much to fight for except the record plus the home team is unbeaten at home all season, hence they might sit back and let the home team do the attacking while they try to hit on the counter. Both teams could potentially score, given the h2h, but most likely in the second half of the game when the fatigue sets in. Odds for under 1.5 goals at HT seems quite good (1.70). Risky shot, but I’ll take it and hopefully I’ll be smiling after 47 minutes.
