THE second Grand Slam of the season gets under way at Roland Garros today and Rafa Nadal’s status as king of clay is under serious threat.
Nadal has won the French Open nine out of the last 10 years – including the last five on the bounce – and his record is an impressive 66-1. But the Spaniard has struggled for form this season and world No.1 Novak Djokovic heads into the tournament as 10-11 favourite at Paddy Power on the back of a 23-match winning streak.
Nadal is 5-1 at Coral at Sportingbet and Andy Murray – enjoying his best season on clay – is next at 10-1 with William Hill followed by Roger Federer (12-1, Stan James), Kei Nishikori (13-1, 888sport) and Stan Wawrinka (30-1, bwin).
On to cricket and England are on a sticky wicket once again as they try to stave off defeat following another dodgy day’s play from Alastair Cook and Co.
They head into day four of the first Test against New Zealand fighting to stay in touch at 60 runs adrift after conceding a first-innings deficit of 134. The Kiwis are on 74-2 in their second innings and Coral make them 8-11 for victory with England out to 6-1 at 888sport and the draw 23-10 at Paddy Power.
At the Monaco Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton starts from pole as he tries to win the race for the first time in seven years. The British ace is 3-10 favourite at Paddy Power, with Mercedes team-mate next at 4-1 at Betfred and Seb Vettels 12s at BetVictor.
