IT was a case of close but no cigars as I tried to find value on a Sunday card that included so many short-priced favourites.
My Celtic -2AH Super Single was voided but the St Johnstone draw no bet beaten by a young Rangers side.
For the second day running my moneyback fivefold was beaten by one and I was one short at Parkhead for the goals treble.

Sorry my team let you down on the fivefold, we were shocking in the second half. We should have been a couple of goals to the good in first 10 mins, West Ham were shocking defensively in opening stages. Our first choice centre halves again out today, looking like Michael Keane will inevitably move on in the summer. A number of rumours flying about here that he refused to play today, probably has his heart set on a move back to United. Dunno how beneficial that will be to his career in terms of regular game time though.

Sorry, not been on for a while, life has been getting in the way a bit, anyway, yesterday I had a dabble at an 11 way £10 acca. I planned it all out – mostly -1 straight handicaps and a couple of straight wins on a few teams I thought would win but not by enough for me to take the handicap price.
I trundled down the road to good old Ladcrooks and their system prices in shop is an embarrassment, but not having the chance to have cleared funds to go online for better prices, I had to bite the bullet. I then got the ” computer says Noooooo ” treatment with 50% of my planned -1 handicaps. They were offering prices on -2, -3, -4 and even -5 on some matches but the ones I was interested in – well half of them, they had no market for -1, but woop di doo, they did have a ht/ft double result – which I begrudgingly took to fill in my bet slip.
Chelsea not coming home with the ht/ft win was the only component to sink the bet. Every other ones, the straight wins, the -1 handicaps and the rest of the ht/ft’s they all came in. Had I been able to get the -1 straight handicaps in at the shop, I’d of walked away with about £1100; or about £2500 via an online. Gutted.
To give you an idea of some of the price gulfs between online ( bet365 ) and Ladcrooks shop price, Man Utd were 17/10 online but 5/4 in the shop.
Anyone any advice on which high street bookie gives better markets and prices than Ladcrooks; for the future, I have access to William Hill, Betfred, Paddy Power and Corals. – If not, I may have to go down 3-4 hrs ahead, split my stake 4 times, drop accas at those 4 and see which markets/prices are available and make an educated guess on who to drop my shop bets with?
Any advice from anyone would be much appreciated.
For best prices check oddschecker or betrescue. You’ll always find someone giving better odds.
I find that in shop bookies prices stay consistent. So generally the odds are second guessed by potential team news etc earlier in the week. I’m guessing Man Utd’s odds would have got bigger online once it was clear the team was going to be made up of kids.
Get down to your local Hills Nathan, typically if a price is shortening prior to a match, you may get an excellent price over the counter. The prices differ to the SSBTs and you can pick up some real value, picked up on this having worked there in the past. For example, had a bet at my Hills a while back ona United fixture. Ibrahimovic was priced at 8/13 on the SSBT and was best priced 4/6 online yet I managed to get 4/5 over the counter. The staff will try encourage you to use the SSBTs, saves them work but well worth asking on the off chance prices haven’t changed on there systems

Another mixed day with one winner and one loser yesterday. Unfortunately the Guabira game was delayed and they ended up playing on an absolute quagmire of a pitch. In full agreement with @kyle-b and, with a mostly barren card, I think it’s worth having a punt on goals in the game at Akranes. Early season form of Akranes in particular points heavily to goals. Grindavik put a couple past Stjarnan and should score here – they’ve not failed to score on the road in a calendar year. Akranes can do so too given they have scored 5 in their first 3 league games (despite conceding 10 in the process) and just played out a 4-3 goal fest with second division Fram in the cup.

Timisoara comes after Saturday’s League Cup final, lost to Dinamo by 2-0. Although the winner of this competition was awarded 400,000 euros, coach Ionut Popa considered the match against Pandurii more important .
