Should been more than 2 but I have to settled for a void bet.
Could have been worse as Hearts had a couple of chances late on.
Well done to Rangers for winning with a young side and to Greg for tipping over 2.5 goals.

Morning all, havent posted for a long time but i have been following the thread so thanks to all the regulars that share thier insights.

Something i’ve noticed alot recently is trainers running horse that they own seem to do quite well, particularly on a weekend when they know the race will draw attention, after all they wouldn’t run their horse if they didnt think it would win.

For example last weekend western hymn (owned by Rachael hood- the wife of john gosden) entered in a televised race, to me suggested they expected a big run and the horse obliged. Yesterday the horse paddy power (owned and trained by R Fahey) in a saturday afternoon handicap, romped up. So this is now something i keep an eye out for and i have spotted one today which i thought id share:

    4.10 ripon. love island 17/2

Owned and trained by R Whitaker excellent record over C D. Has to be worth an ew punt. GL

Going to try and give back to this site as I have been coming here for a while now without really putting the effort in to return my opinions/tips.
Like to bet on anything I see likely to win with value but horse racing is my passion.

A nice card at Naas today and looking forward to seeing Caravaggio strut his stuff as he is an extremely talented colt and I hope he can continue from his superstar 2yo status. I’m more excited about this O’Brien colt than any other and can’t wait to see if he can progress forward this season which I’m sure he will but at 2/5 I wont be backing today.

2.40 Naas – WhiteCliffsOfDover made winning seasonal return in the duty free 3yo listed handicap at HQ last month in a first time tongue tie which he retains today. I am very skeptical about the form of that race though as i don’t think he beat very much at all for the level, although joint top weight and doing it well only 5 pounds covered the field. He may well come on from that run and he has been reported to have wintered very well by connections but at the current 4/5 I wont be backing. DRUMFAD BAY is a very attractive bet however at an E/W price. He beat True Valour by a short head LTO who was in turn was beaten a short head by Lancaster Bomber in a maiden last year who was then 4th in the 2000 guineas a 1 and 1/2 lengths behind the mighty Churchill and second in the Dewhurst last season again behind Churchill beaten the same distance. That to me looks to be a solid piece of form and acts as the value bet of the race. Mrs John Harrington’s horses are in good order which only adds appeal. Its worth noting Peace envoy was back in fourth in its last race although it didn’t get a decent run and would have probably should have won that day.

3.15 Naas- With 4 of these only having their second run this is going to be tricky to find the winner as the market suggests. The A P O’Brien trained colt Dali heads the market currently at 5/2 for this wide open listed 5f sprint. This being his 3rd start and 2nd on turf. He was sent off the 4/6 winning fav over C/D for his last race and finishing a 1/2 length second to the re-opposing True Blue Moon on his debut at Dundalk. It’s hard to tell what he managed to beat when he won LTO. He was one of 2 in the field to have had a run under his belt with the other (Mister Magic) well beaten in 3 runs. True Blue Moon has his second run today since beating Dali and Mister Magic on debut when getting 3lbs from those rivals. Today they run off level weights but I think TBM may well have more improvement in him on his second start todady but its tough to call as Dali gets the services of Ryan Moore who is 3-5 on 2yo’s here for this rematch instead of Seamie Heffernan which I also consider a positive. Simmy’s Copshop who beat Havana Grey who bolted up by 7 lengths (albeit in an ordinary maiden) also lines up who has been sent over by the in form Richard Fahey who sent out 5 winners yesterday including Lockinge winner Ribchester and 3 2nds to boot. He is 1 from 5 with 2yo’s here and also 1 from 5 in 2yo listed races in Ireland but jockey Declan McDonogh is a very poor 0-28 here on 2yo’s. With T For Tangos form not working out well im quite happy to pass it over even with the trainer only sending one 2yo here before and it winning but thats all there is to make a case for this one. There are two fillies in the field, Sirici who is having her 4th start and MAMBA NOIRE who is having her 2nd. MN beat an experienced field by over 2 lengths on debut whilst giving away 11lbs to the second horse (which is rather impressive as its a big weight difference for a 2yo) was rather green and won under hands and heels doing it very easily. Shes sure to come on leaps and bounds from that run. She had the horse Sirici beat on two separate occasions by 1 and 1 and a 1/2 lengths back in fourth on her debut. She has an entry to the Group 1 Keeneland Phoenix Stakes at the Curragh and I think she could be up to beating the boys today. At 5/1 she acts as the value bet at a E/W price.

3.45 Naas – This is all about ALPHA CENTAURI and if you can get anything over evens I would advise you to take it. Betvictor have a feature where you can bet on any horse to win by any distance going up in half length increments to boost the odds which I think is worth taking to win by at least 1 length. Yesterday I took 3/1 for Ribchester to win the lockinge by a length or more when at the time I placed the bet it was 6/4. I would advise the same bet. I’m positive she will improve markedly from her debut where she beat the re opposing Actress by 2 1/2 lengths going away over C&D, making all and receiving just a couple of taps of the whip. Mrs J Harrington’s horses are in great order and i quite frankly cannot see this beat. Gasta would have to be something very special and the rest of the field would have to improve a huge amount to beat her providing all is well on the day.

4.15 Naas – As I mentioned earlier the highlight of the meeting is of course the return of last years Keeneland Phoenix Stakes winner superstar 2yo Caravaggio. A P O’Brien’s horses can sometimes under perform on return but even in that case it’s almost impossible to oppose. Considering he went off the 1/8 fav for the Keeneland the 2/5 currently available for this Group 3 has value in the price. O’Brien’s knack of landing 1-2’s and 1-2-3’s will take a miracle looking at Pedestal’s form. Apart from Ardad somehow managing to bag the Flying Cinders at Doncaster last year (which he has shown nothing like before or since) the form of his 3rd in the Royal Ascot Windsor Castle is to be honest completely wank. It’s baffling, the second horse next ran in a class 4 maiden and came 3rd and took a further 4 attempts to finally break its maiden tag, the 4th horse took a further 5 attempts to win a class 5 maiden?? Mister Trader who also lines up her came 20th and was never seen again. After Psychedelic Funks shocker of a run LTO it was too bad to be true and It looked to me like he didn’t like the track at all at Navan. Naas is much flatter and after posting a RPR of 102 on his second start here and with a comeback run under his belt I’ll be backing him for a place.

    2.40 DRUMFAD BAY @ 10/1 E/W BET365 & BETVICTOR

Will have a look at the Ripon card later and post my thoughts. Good luck all

No it wasn’t non runner no bet last year but I do always say I am prepared to take the risk, anyone who backed Churchill or the Derby should also have backed him for the 2000 Guineas
It’s like Thistlecrack who was pulled out the Gold Cup, I also advised him for the Kin George so it does lighten the blow

I know O’Brien has publicly said it’s doubtful but I honestly still think they will run him

After Charlie Appleby having a odds on 2yo who had won first time out beaten at on Friday I am going to take Way of Wisodom on with DE BRUYNE HORSE. It had no race at all when very green in the same race the fav won. SDS is a very eye catching booking here and at 7/1 it rates a nice E/W bet

SDS could have a good day today he has another good ride against a warm fav in the 3yo maiden at 4.40. He rides MATHIX for the first time for W Haggas. He’s was gelded before his seasonal return LTO and watching the race back he tried to go with the smart Eagle Creek. When pat knew he wasn’t going to win he just continued to ride under hands and heels didn’t touch him with the whip and was still well clear of the rest of the field. I think SDS will get this one across the line first today. Currently 4/1

O’Brien said: “It looks like Churchill will go for the Irish Guineas, and Lancaster Bomber (fourth at Newmarket) could go with him. I’d say it’s very unlikely that Churchill will go for the Derby.”
O’Brien has dominated the Classic trial picture over the last few weeks, and added of his Derby squad: “There are seven horses very strongly in the picture at the moment for the Derby.
“The three Leopardstown (Derby Trial) horses (Douglas Macarthur, Yucantan and Capri), the three Chester Vase horses (Venice Beach, Wings Of Eagle and The Anvil) and the Dee Stakes horse (Cliffs Of Moher).”
O’Brien also had news of 1000 Guineas winner Winter, confirming her on course for the Curragh equivalent on Sunday: “Winter and Hydrangea are likely to go for the 1,000 Guineas. That’s the way things look at the moment.
“Rhododendron (second at Newmarket) is going to go straight for the Oaks (at Epsom).
“The plan is that Minding will go for the Tattersalls Gold Cup.”

If it really was a special horse you’d think they would go for the derby I mean what is beating barney Roy and all wukair and co going to do for its value…it beat horses like these on seasonal debut. What other o Brien horse could win the 2000 Irish guineas if he didn’t go for it
