THE 2015 Premier League Darts champion will be crowned on Thursday night in a thrilling finale at London's O2 Arena.

World No.1 Michael van Gerwen is 10-11 favourite for the title at Sportingbet and his semi-final sees him take on defending champ Raymond van Barneveld in a repeat of last year's final.

Van Gerwen is 1-3 at Stan James and Boylesports to win the best-of-19-legs showdown while fellow Dutchman Barney is 3-1 at Betfair.

In the other semi-final world champ Gary Anderson is 13-10 at Stan James against Dave Chisnall, who finished second behind MVG in the standings and is 5-4 at Sportingbet. Both players like to rattle in the maximums and Betfred and Totesport go 4-5 for over 11.5 match 180s.

The two winners will meet in the final on the night and tournament sponsors Betway have priced up some play-off specials including 8-1 for a nine-dart finish, 4-1 for a 170 checkout and 5-6 for over 148.5 highest checkout.

England's cricketers get their first Test against New Zealand under way at Lord's and are 13-10 at Paddy Power to win the opener, with the Kiwis 11-4 at Betway and the draw 11-5 at bet365.

British hopeful Kyle Edmund faces Victor Hanescu in a second qualifier for the French Open tennis and other Thursday sporting highlights include basketball, golf and cycling so post your tips and thoughts here.

James Anderson – Top England Wicket Taker in series – 19/10

Anderson has been top wicket taker in the last 3 series. The last 2 by 7 wickets and 6 wickets respectively.

      Hello Loony Toon

Going through some stats on that bet then was checking the market.

      Ladbrokes – top wicket taker @ 2/1
      365 – top England bowler @ 7/4

Question is – is this the same book or they 2 different lines?

Does top bowler = top wicket taker ?

      Cheers

Not sure where to put this….

Some may remember that I tipped Alfie Mawson to score anytime for Wycombe v Plymouth last week at 12-1. He did, and has now scored in 6 of the last 14 games, including against Southend away. He’s available at 13-1 with Paddy Power to score in 90 minutes at Wembley.

    Here’s hoping …

Even any props I put up would be a guessing game but I’m going to stick with the trusty Iman Shumpert (Cavs) Over 12 Points @ 10/11 @ PP – 2.2 points

    TRUSTY IMAN SHUMPERT!?

    Iman Shumpert (Cavs) Over 12 Points @ 10/11 @ PP – 2.2 points **LOSE** 2, yes TWO!

The theory on Kyrie not having as many minutes for Shumpert to feast on was all good, unfortunately he’s just not hitting the shots. In other news, JR Smith is currently outscoring LeBron James with 28 points!?!?

As I’m watching DeMarre Carroll has gone down extremely hard clutching his knee in agony for Atlanta, he’s been carried to the locker room. I’ll be surprised if we see him in the playoffs again. BACK THE CAVS IN GAME 2. They’ll be at least 3 point favourites in Atlanta. Trust!

    Morning guys,

    Cycling: Giro d’Italia stage 12

It has been a very exciting Giro to watch, but a hell to bet on. Every stage is a surprise with break-aways making it to the end in sprint stages and teams not working together to chase the break. Today is the last chance for the uphill sprinters before we go into the mountains. I can’t see a break-away make with so many teams looking for a stage win. This stage looks a bit like stage 7 and I think we will have the same scenario.

    Match-ups, winner in capitals:

    ULISSI v Tom Jelte Slagter
    BETANCUR v Zakarin
    Double @ 2.54 with WH

Ulissi won stage 7 which was a same sort of stage as this one. Last year he won 2 of these uphill sprints in the Giro and I think he is one of the men to beat. Slagter was one of the best in these sort of finishes last year but we still haven’t seen those legs this season. He was far behind in stage 7.

Betancur is looking better in every stage after his year of struggling. He was one of the best on these kind of finishes before that disaster year and I think he will try to have a go today just like he did in stage 7. Zakarin won his Giro stage yesterday and really had to work hard for it. I can’t see him being part of the sprint group in the final and I think we will see him in the mountains in the last week which suit him much better.

Iddy hope you don’t mind me putting in my 2 pence worth, I would like to see Johnson win but my head keeps reminding me that Cormier spars with velasquez 5 rounds at a time so no doubt he can take the punches he can also wrestle with the best. It’s a tough one to call but I would say Cormier via decision. What I do like the look of though is arlovski to shock Travis Browne, the pit bull is a 5/2 underdog and even though Travis Browne has been somewhat of a recking ball as of late he lost on points to werdum. Arlovski has beaten werdum in the past taking the decision, I can see arlovski fighting a smart tactical fight here and at 5/2 I’ll be taking that action all day long.

No problem Anasewhiz. That is what I like about this forum, people post their ideas, give decent betting options and provide reasoning.

I’m already looking at Astros over 3.5 runs @ 1.83.

11 of 16 road games this has come in. 7 of their last 9 it’s come in, although these have all been home games.

I do rate Tigers pitcher Price but he’s given up at least three runs in 4 of his last 5 starts.

For me Astros are a big price on the ml @ 2.45. They haven’t lost an opening game of a road series yet but Feldman doesn’t fill me with the confidence to put my money there.

However it might be one to watch in play and if Astros score 1 run first the price shouldn’t drop to dramatically and they have a good chance (around 66%) of winning from there.

12 of 15 games last night, first team to score won.

Dazzler, that is an interesting trend you have spotted there. A couple of years back I heard that around 68-70% of all games won, were by the team that scored first (that may have changed now). You are finding it is 80%+ recently. Not sure what to make of that, apart from maybe making some money on the in-play?

With regards to the Astros, you are right, Feldman is a weak link in this young team and it is also risky opposing the talented (if not inconsistent) Price and his big-hitting Detroit teammates, in their back yard… @2.45 does look tempting though, but I suppose that’s the bookies job!

I haven’t found anything that I really “love” but have found 3 teams with a lot in common. All started off the season really slow, all are getting better this past couple of weeks and all are underdogs when they perhaps shouldn’t be today.

I won’t go into great detail but I will most likely be on these on the ML:

Arizona @2.20 – Miami stink at the minute and although it is difficult for me to oppose Latos, he is clearly not at 100% right now so I say the Snakes take advantage today.

Texas @2.45 – As above, Boston bats are cold and their pitching tonight (Buchholz starting) is unlikely to keep out the “warming” Texas hitters.

Philadelphia @2.25 – Never thought I would pick the Phillies after their dreadful start to the season but things have changed recently and they are actually playing well. Both starters are poor tonight so the Overs could be a decent shout but I will go for the team in form AND odds-against.

If a couple come in, it’s decent profit. Any reason not to guys? Let me know if so.

  30. Jaseos 9 years ago

I agree with your Rangers pick, as I think they’ll score first and hopefully that stat does the rest lol.

Bet365 do the first to score market but I think if it’s an underdog you’re looking at you’ll get a better price in play. As I say that double is experimental and I’ll try it for a few days and see how it goes.

Van Gerwin vs Van Barneveld, Most 180’s Van Gerwin 8/13 (NAP)
Chisnel vs Anderson, Chisnel most 180’s Evens (NB)

Smaller stakes double of the two 9/4.

Van Gerwin is a 180 machine and can be relied on to perform when it matters. He’s beaten Barney countless times by just battering maximum after maximum and the chances are he’ll do exactly the same tonight. He might even be eyeing the 9 darter.

Chisnel leads the premier league in 180’s this year as he did last year also. He has really improved his game this season and although Anderson is handy on the maximums himself, Chisnel is more accurate with better grouping on the darts so if the first dart lands in the treble 20, the next two will always have a great chance of following it in.

    Afternoon Guys, DARTS Finals Night

After weeks of action the darts roadshow winds up at the O2. It sees the reigning Champion 2 ex Premier league champion and in Chizzy a guy who was one leg away from topping the group. MVG my antepost bet at 5-2 (im always on MVG) isnt in quite the form he was for most of the season, but i am hoping he can get to the final, then i will be looking at my options to cover as whoever he faces he will go off favourite.

    Anderson v Chisnall

Since Anderson had that infamous spat with Barney, the world champ as rediscovered his form with wins over MVG, Taylor and Lewis. Anderson is also a big stage player and having won this tournament and been a runner up and winner in back to back world finals, he clearly can draw on that experience.

Chisnall has probably been the best player in the tornament banging in 180s for fun, he tops the league with 62 and has hammered Anderson 7-2 & 7-3 in both meetings in the premier league this season. It is a real 50-50 game which is what you want in a semi final and i am struggling to confidentily pick a winner, if i had to i would side with Chizzy pulling off a shock at 11/8 various. He is averaging just under 102 tournament average and checking out at 42% compared to Anderson 99 average and 38% checkout sucess. Instead with two heavy scorers the line is set at 11.5 and i think we could see plenty of legs so i will be on the Overs at 4/5 Betfred.

The match checkout is set at 128.5 and Chizzy as covered this the last three weeks including a 161 out last week, and in their last meeting he took out a 150. Last seasons meetings saw Anderson take out a 170 the pace of the game will suit both and and they should settle in to a nice rytham i suspect another big finish on the cards and 128.5 could be to low. It is 5/6 Various.

    Van Gerwen v Van Barneveld

The second semi final is a repeat of last years final which Barney won, however MVG has won 8 of their last 9 meetings and is averaging a 105 over the tournament whilst Barney is down at 97, infact Barneys best average in the league was 104 while MVG 8 times as eclipsed Barneys best with a league high of 116. RVB is going to have to up his scoring power and MVG to miss a few doubles. As i say i am on MVG so wont be doing much on this game but over the longer format i think MVG can get at least two more maximums than RVB and i am on him to do that at 11/10 Skybet.

    Main Tips

    CHIZZY – ANDERSON O11.5 MATCH 18Os 4/5
    CHIZZY – ANDERSON O128.5 MATCH CHECKOUT 5/6
    MVG -1 ON THE 180s HANDICAP 11/10

A bet i do like as it gives you interest in every leg of the night is YES a 9 dart finish. It hasnt happened yet and it is the only thing missing from this tournament, which is a surprise and that shows the standard of darts right now. It is only a “fun punt” but MVG his last four attempts at the 9 darter as wired double 12. Darts fans will remember Taylor hitting 2 against Wade in the final a couple of years back and with four quality darters on show it could round off a great tournament, it is 8/1 Betfred.

Good luck if your having a bet

    NEPTŪNAS VS LIETUVOS RYTAS (Friday)

Now is the time for Rytas to close out this series and move through to the final. Their possible opponents in the final are already through and resting! Rytas will be desperate to finish off Neptunas so they can themselves get some rest before the final. They currently lead the series 3-1 where they won 2 games at home by 9 and 7 points, and they lost away in tough battle after overtime. I really can’t see this game going into overtime and I strongly expect Rytas to go for it from the off. Looking closely at H2H these teams have played each other on 14 occasions where Rytas have won 12 times with the 2 losses coming in overtime.

    RUFFONI v Grosu
    Double @ 2.61 with 365

Flat sprint on this stage where we should see Petacchi competing with the best. His team mate and fellow sprinter Belletti left the Giro today, so Petacchi is the man to lead the team in this one. Lobato should have done better in today’s and yesterday’s stage with the uphill finishes, but he failed and I can’t see him compete with the best on the flat.

Ruffoni is another crazy Italian sprinter, not scared and taking a lot of risks in sprint stages like this. It’s a bit of a technical finale, which should suit him well + the weather forecast says rain. It looks likes Grosu has gone up a rank after his team mate Colli broke his arm in the sprint of stage 6. I can’t see him beat a pure sprinter like Ruffoni.

Evening guys, Great night of action at the darts. Barney wires double 12 for a 9 darter which would have been fantastic. Anderson was the cover at 2/1 although would love to know what he was at 2-0 down, MVG missed too many doubles, onto the World cup

    Main Tips

    CHIZZY – ANDERSON O11.5 MATCH 18Os 4/5 WON
CHIZZY – ANDERSON O128.5 MATCH CHECKOUT 5/6 WON
MVG -1 ON THE 180s HANDICAP 11/10 LOST

Smiler, there were just too many question marks for me in the rugby to tip on, just watched the game on sky+ Crabtree try was harsh on Cas.
