May 20: Scottish Football Betting Preview

DUNDEE UNITED are one tie away from the Premiership after beating Falkirk last night but who will they face in the play-off final – Inverness or Hamilton.

Today the attention is on the fight to beat the drop after Caley Thistle reduced the gap at the bottom to one point with their fine win at Dundee in midweek.

They were all but down a few weeks ago so the pressure has switched to Accies who must match their result to avoid finishing bottom.

Inverness host a Motherwell side who clinched safety in midweek and who head north without Scott McDonald who is leaving at the end of the season and having a serious doubt over fellow striker Louis Moult.

Richie Foran’s men will be fully focused against a weakened side who may have switched off so I’m on the home even if the price has dropped to an unappealing 8-11 at McBookie.

Billy Mckay’s goals have helped ICT stay alive and I’m on the Irish striker at 5-1 to break the deadlock. Alex Fisher has also been playing well and he’s the same price.

Accies lost at home to Dundee in October and face a tougher test simply because visiting boss Neil McCann wants a good show from his men as he bids for the job on a full-time basis.

The defeat to ICT was McCann’s first as boss and he wasn’t happy. However, Accies by all accounts played well before losing 3-2 at Ross County to a late goal and with their future on the line I can also see them winning.

Again bookies are siding with the side who need a result and Accies are no bigger than 17-20 with Marathonbet when really they should be nearer 6-4.

I’m not backing against Martin Canning’s men but anyone who fancies Dundee can have 15-4 at bet365.

In the play-offs I’m taking Alloa at 4-6 with bet365 to beat Brechin and at least force extra time.

Peterhead lost at Forfar with 10 men and are 8-11 at boylesports to win. This is a tough call and Peterhead are weakened by the loss of experienced striker and top scorer Rory McAllister,

They should still hit the target against a side who conceded two in each semi-final leg against Annan and I’d prefer to back both teams to score at 5-6 with bet365.
