JOHNB has high hopes for Thursday with two strong fancies.

He says: “If you have been on this thread long enough you may remember Right Of Appeal. The date was the 16th January 2014. I said bets like these don’t come around often as he was so well handicapped that he simply couldn’t get beat.

He had been raced over 6f to get a handicap mark then raised to 12f for his handicap debut, Right Of Appeal strolled to victory by 6 lengths. Fast forward over 3 years and we have another horse – Tribute Act – that is just as well handicapped. on debut she won with any amount in hand after being slowly away and running green she then idled slightly in front but won well enough.

A mark of 75 should prove to be insultingly low for what I think should be a horse that eventually goes on to Group One races. She is well bred and the step up in distance is what she needs, she is also well related and well regarded.

The 218 days off could be a concern along with the fact this yard haven’t had a winner in their last 20 runners but they have been running well and even a semi-fit Tribute Act should be winning this. But as we all know anything can happen from bad rides to horses stumbling, I have had them all.

On any other day of the year So Mi Dar would have been an easy double stake tip but not Thursday. 6-1 Tribute Act is massive.”

Hi NJBETTOR – I will not say anything negative against folk bashing bookies. However your system is very hard to quantify – REAL profit.

I mean in thoery you could put £10k on a day over random bets and end up £21.25 up for the day. But margins are small (always good).

I just wondered if you can tell me how much you put on to get your % increase? or is it just what you have in your pocket.

        Kindest Regards

        UNICORN.

PS. Sorry for asking, just ot clear things up.

Tribute Act by exceed and excel wouldn’t want it too soft. Going is good to soft so might get away with it.
Bit if it becomes drying and tacky may not be ideal.

Exceed and Excel has more of a preference for all weather or fir ground but as for the other going types Heavy, Soft, Good to Soft, Good, Good to Firm there isn’t a lot of difference between progeny results, also the horses action says she could handle most types of ground

    Morning all,

When your luck is out gambling can be a harsh mistress. Everything transpired against me yesterday and Speed Company forfeited ground at the start – chance gone and Willie Carson gave Swilly Sunset the strangest ride I can recall at Yarmouth in years. I can only apologise to anyone who has followed me thus far this month hopefully the tide will turn soon. Sticking with the systems that have proved me well since I started on here back in November here are my bets today:

    15.30 York – Benbatl 7/2

With Cracksman missing the Dante Benbatl has taken over at the top of the market. He caught the eye on his debut when hacking up by 7 lengths at Donny before finishing a close third in the Craven. He stayed on late on that day and todays step up in trip should be ideal. Moreover, Pat Cosgrave has a fantastic record when riding for Saeed Bin Suroor and hopefully he can enhance that today (3 points win @ 7/2).

16.05 York – Here Comes When 12/1 EW & Top Notch Tonto 12/1 EW (6 places)

Two horses who will relish conditions on the Knavesmire this afternoon are Here Comes When and Top Notch Tonto. Both horses were class performers in their youth but have endured a tough time lately, but thus both look well handicapped today. With skybet paying 6 places I am happy to take them both each way – 1 point each way on both @ 12/1 + 0.10 reverse forecast (0.20 total).

    17.20 Perth – Gold Chain 3/1

Sometimes it’s vital to know the right time to catch a horse and Gold Chain looks to have a great chance of recording a two-day double today. She loves it around Perth and last June she recorded a similar double (2 in 2 days) under near identical conditions. The promising Lorcan Murtagh takes a handy 7lbs off her back and with everything in place Gold Chain looks worthy of a bet (3 points win @ 3/1).

    17.35 York – Graceland 7/2

Graceland looked like a horse to keep on side last time at Ascot when she relished the step up in distance. She beat a useful bunch of stayers that day and I think with further improvement to come over this trip she can win again under a 5lb penalty. She has some decent form on soft and rates as a good bet in my eyes ( 3 points win @ 7/2).

    19.25 Newmarket – Jelela 5/6

Very rare that I back an odds on shot but I think Jelela must have an outstanding chance this evening. I backed her with an increased stake last time at Wolverhampton when she finished a close second to a horse that was massively overpriced at 25/1. Her second Wood Ditton at Newmarket is solid form and hopefully she can finally get her head in front this evening. I am glad that Frankie is back in the saddle as he has been riding out of his skin in recent weeks and the drop down to 7F shouldn’t inconvenience. With everything in place I am happy to play 7.5 points win @ 5/6.

    20.30 Newmarket – Warrior’s Spirit 2/1 & Insure 3 Place 1/1

Warrior’s Spirit comes out of one of my races to follow, the 16.10 at Newbury on the 21st of April has seen 2 winners and a close second come out of the field and is a race to keep on side. Warrior’s Spirit finished 7th but didn’t quite get the race run to suit and there were lots of positives to take out of that run. With fitness now on his side he looks sure to go close this evening. His mark of 81 looks very generous as his maiden win last season saw him beat Crystal Ocean (short for the Dante today) on good to soft ground so conditions should be spot on tonight. I am very confident of a big run this evening from Warrior’s Spirit but given my recent form I am going to play an increased 13 points @ 1/1 on the insure 3 place market and a further 2 points on the win market @ 2/1.

    Otherbets:
    1 point win double: Jelela 5/6 & Warrior’s Spirit 2/1

0.10 point Lucky 31 on: Jelela, Warrior’s Spirit, Graceland, Gold Chain & Benbatl (3.1 in total).

Many thanks and GL to all

Not going to be on for a bit as I am going to be busy working at Newbury.

Fridays Tip is an early one for Saturday

    Fridays Tip
    Lockinge Stakes (Newbury Saturday)
    RIBCHESTER 2/1 NAP/NB bet365 (double stake)

As for Tribute Act, She is still strong in the market as it’s the bookies now wanting to take her on, I also know from other people involved with the horse that Syndicate members haven’t been too well informed about Tribute Acts chances which doesn’t surprise me as it’s not all the same people in charge of Elite Racing as it used to be, standards have slipped and for the amount of members they have they are seriously overcharging now and the perks are pretty poor, “Johnb Racing is the only place to be 😀” as members have already found out

As I say I will be busy working at Newbury with owners/trainers/horses while also socialising so will be back on here Saturday/Sunday if I don’t get a chance earlier

    Amron Kali £30 @2/1 WON
    Attain £40 @6/4 LOST
    Enzani £25 @11/8 WON

    That’s 3/4 showing….
    Staked: £120
    Returned: £249.38
    Profit: £129.38
    Profit Percentage: 107%

As you can see my naps are the most successful, I work for ladbrokes meaning racing is on all day and I love the enjoyment of it that’s why I back more selections than one per day.
If you look at my actual profit of £71.63, £105.25, £21.25 the last 3 days I’d take that over a percentage any day.
For example my first day showed a 51.17% profit, for one selection at a £10 stake that’s only £15.17 back so £5.17 profit, but the way I back my horses means I’m actually £71.63 up in one day.
Not saying there is anything wrong with one selection a day but it’s not my style, it is better for following but I’m just posting all my bets so people can look and follow the ones they fell look good too.

    Hope this helps all👍

Yeah good stuff today harry, about time you won by a nose! Usually evens itself out. Hopefully the last un wins, cut back some of this month’s losses. You deserve a bit more luck. Keep it up!

Just shows how irrelevant everything is in horse racing, SDS crushing at the minute, can do all the race studying you like but its pointless as horse racing is effectively a lottery.
