CHEPSTOW was a tough nut to crack for Johnb on Tuesday with both his tips unable to bag victory.

Well done everyone who landed a winner and let’s hear all your Wednesday tips.

Johnb’s Wednesday Tips

York 2:55
Ride Like The Wind 12-1 NAP bet365

Bath 8:25
Holyroman Princess 12-1 NB ladbrokes

0.5pt eachway Double 155-1 ladbrokes

Johnb says: “I was contemplating just leaving today as a no bet day, not because I didn’t fancy anything strong enough because I do fancy today’s very strongly but because Thursday looks special. I keep my betting money separate from other money but I also every month put some extra money into my rainy day fund which is usually only for my antepost bets but occasionally it’s for something really special. Tomorrow is that something really special, just disappointed I can’t go see the horse as I am going to Newbury Friday morning for Lockinge Day.”

Pointer for couple races at Bath tonight. Fetihye Boy won last time out, beating Midnightly who finished third, 1 length behind. Fetihye Boy meets that one on 2lb better terms today, thanks to having a 5lb claimer on board. I feel these 2 will be closely matched again, however, more interestingly, the horse that split those 2 in that race last time, Monteamita, runs in the 7.55 on the same card. If the form is confirmed in the 5.20, then it may pay to side with Monteamita later on, to get the better of Go Amber Go.
5.20 Fetihye Boy to confirm places with Midnightly
7.55 Monteamita to win, providing the form is confirmed.

      • Profile photo of jacksonator
        jacksonator 3 months ago

I think it would be virtually impossible to make a profit following Hugh Taylor’s tips. The second they come out prices are slashed so the price you get on at will be nowhere near the stated price meaning your returns will be a lot lower. I haven’t studied it but I bet if you were able to analayse his return using prices 10 minutes after posting it would be a lot lower, maybe even a loss. i could be wrong but that is my guess. It isnt Hugh’s fault, just a fact of life

        • Profile photo of philip66
          philip66 3 months ago

Yes he is very very good , sadly I’m not one of the above mentioned. I’m sure you can check all his tips somewhere. His knowledge is phenomenal, I’m sure you are able to still show a decent profit from following, however it will only be about 30% of what he’s making!!

        • Profile photo of bountyhunter22
          bountyhunter22 3 months ago

Yeah I’ve often thought this. You basically have a 30 second window to try and get the bet on after he posts otherwise might as well forget it. I’ve even seen instances where some firms suspend betting when he sends his tweet out!

          • Profile photo of Mr Fixit
            Mr Fixit 3 months ago

That’s not his fault – that’s because of the following he has.
It’s the same with Palmer’s golf tips. If you pick up a Racing Post on a Wednesday morning you’ll get nothing near the prices he quotes.
But both of them can only quote the odds available when they write their copy.

jacksonator ,if you had followed Hugh T aylor you would have made a big profit ever year for the last 9 yrs

          • Profile photo of jacksonator
            jacksonator 3 months ago

I know he has shown amazing levels of profits over the last 9 years – just intrigued to see if people were to follow for a length of time if they would be able to given the fact the prices fall straight away. As I say this isn’t a dig at him, it isn’t his fault the prices fall, just is a measure of the success he has and the following. i am just interested to see if a normal punter would be able to make it pay at the prices that he would be able to get on at.

              frobinio 3 months ago

Hugh taylor is the best in the buisness in my opinion. To answer your question the normal punter it is very hard to make profit off hugh taylor. I followed him religiously for 6 months and made some serious cash. But the bookies are so scared of hugh taylor that as soon as you start betting on his tips they will shut your account down. Hence now i can only bet with sky bet and bet victor

Hugh Taylor’s 281 point profit would have been 93 points if backed at SP odds. Hope this helps

What a terrible day it was yesterday at Chepstow for myself. I can’t understand why they changed tactics on Daily Trader as it had become clear you had to be up with the pace to win, but instead they decided to race off the pace, come wide around the bend and thus finish mid pack. I am starting to get the feeling May is not going to be my month. Yet, I have said on a number of occasions it is imperative to stick to your guns and follow the systems/criteria so here are my bets today:

    14.20 York – Speed Company 10/1 EW (6 places)

Speed Company didn’t seem to handle the track last time out at Epsom but returned to a flat track today (good record at flat tracks) he looks sure to run a big race. The John Quinn team are in red hot form at present and Ryan Moore gets on very well with this horse. He has soft ground form in the book and I am sure he has the potential to go above 100 in the ratings in time. He rates as a strong bet in my eyes and with Skybet paying a very generous 6 places I am happy to play an increased 3.75 points each way @10/1.

    15.30 York – Brando 11/4, Growl 12/1 EW & The Tin Man 5/1 EW

With the ground on the soft side today I have decided to focus on the form of last season’s Ayr Gold Cup that was run in similar conditions. Brando won that race of a mammoth weight (9 10) with Growl (9 1) finishing second, next time out in the Group 1 Champion Sprint off level weights Growl finished second and Brando finished third. The winner of that Group 1 race was The Tin Man who reposes today but has to shoulder a penalty however his second-place finish to Quite Reflection at Haydocks Sprint Cup on soft going rates as some of the strongest form on offer. The only horse of my three to have a run this year is Brando who won a Group 3 at Newmarket on Good to Firm and the race fitness may give him the edge today but with Skybet paying four places I am happy to play three against the field (3 points win Brando 11/4, 1 point each way The Tin Man 5/1 & 1 point each way Growl 12/1) + (0.10 point reverse tricast 0.60 in total & 0.25 point combination forecast 1.50 in total).

    16.55 Yarmouth – Swilly Sunset 2/1 & Insure 3 places 11/10

Swilly Sunset caught the eye last time in a similar contest over C&D last time out. He endured a torrid passage through the field but stayed on late to take second – I have no doubt he would have won with a clear passage. Raised only 2lbs for that effort I think he will take all the beating today in East Anglia. However, his run style doesn’t make for easy viewing and there is a chance of him meeting trouble again. Therefore, while I am going to increase my bet on this horse today based on my criteria’s but I am going to play a bit safer. I will be playing 7.5 points win on the Insure 3 place market @ 11/10 (money back if the horse places) along with 2 points win @2/1.

    17.35 York – Busy Street 16/1 EW

Busy Street was well backed for a competitive handicap at Hamilton last Sunday but it was clear he failed to stay the trip up the famous hill. Back down in distance today and back on a flat track I think he can out run his odds of 16/1. Two starts back at Catterick he came from a difficult position to get within a neck and a nose of Be Perfect and that effort was a decent run. Today I expect Joe Fanning to make good use of Busy Street from the front end and hopefully he can get his head in front (1 points each way).

Many thanks and GL to all

If you have been on this thread long enough you may remember Right Of Appeal
The date was the 16th January 2014
I said bets like these don’t come around often as he was so well handicapped that he simply couldn’t get beat, he had been raced over 6f to get a handicap mark then raised to 12f for his handicap debut, Right Of Appeal strolled to victory by 6 lengths,
Fast forward over 3 years and we have another horse that is just as well handicapped, on debut she won with any amount in hand after being slowly away and running green she then idled slightly in front but won well enough
A mark of 75 should prove to be insultingly low for what I think should be a horse that eventually goes on to group one races, she is well bred and the step up in distance is what she needs, she is also well related and well regarded, the 218 days off could be a concern along with the fact this yard haven’t had a winner in their last 20 runners but they have been running well and even a semi fit Tribute Act should be winning this, but as we all know anything can happen from bad rides to horses stumbling, I have had them all,
On any other day of the year So Mi Dar would have been an easy double stake tip but not Thursday
    6/1 Tribute Act is massive
