STAN WAWRINKA sent Rafa Nadal packing with a stylish straights-win at the Rome Masters and his reward is a semi-final clash with Swiss countryman Roger Federer.
Wawrinka has only beaten Fed twice in their 17 meetings – but he’ll take great heart from the fact both those victories were on clay.
Federer heads into their latest red-dirt battle as 3-5 favourite at BetVictor while Wawinka is 11-8 at Paddy Power and Skybet.
In the other semi-final Novak Djokovic is just 1-7 to beat David Ferrer and 7-15 for a straight-sets win over the Spaniard, who is available at 6-1 with Sportingbet.
In the women’s singles the last-four match-ups see Maria Sharapova – title favourite at evens with Betfred – take on Daria Gavrilova and Carla Suarez Navarro against Simona Halep.
Elsewhere on a busy Saturday of sport Glasgow v Ulster is among the rugby union Pro12 action with Warriors looking to secure home advantage for the semi-finals.
Cycling’s giro d’Italia reaches stage eight and there’s also plenty of golf and Stateside sport if you fancy a punt.
