Elvis, I strongly fancy So Di Mar to win but Im not thoroughly convinced with Idaho. If Harzand improves from his victory against Idaho he will take stopping as John said and Ive gone and backed him a second time at 25 in case.

the derby picture is a mess. I saw us army ranger 1st hand at chester and like all the others at the head of the market, didn’t give me that ooooh factor, especially as it was obvious the 2nd was under team orders not to beat us ranger.
this is good for punters of course as if you can find the winner the odds will be good.

if you fancy so mi dar you can back her no run no bet at 5-1 with paddy power which is unusual for this race.
you can get 25-1 on Idaho if you still have the faith.

personally, it looks betting wise like one of those 20+ runner mind numbingly difficult Saturday afternoon bookies benefit handicaps, and is therefore not a race to get too involved with, unless johnb or one of the top boys here have any concrete feelings towards a horse.

Its a wide open Derby as John said mainly due to poor quality animals.
Im surprised at the confidence that O Brien still retains for US Army Ranger. I dont agree that O Briens jockeys were under orders at Chester to create a particular result. O Brien said himself the Army Ranger is still a baby and learning.
There’s no denying this horse is immature and he could be heard winnowing after his narrow victory in Chester. Judging by O Briens interviews afterwards he expects the Army to have learned plenty after that, and even if he does I still dont see him winning.
I dont know much Deauville or Port Douglas, perhaps John could shed some light on these two

Deauville led from the front, and set himself up to be shot at last week.
wings of desire was the only horse to peg him back.
the 1 mile 2 was the furthest he has run.
I bet they ran him from the front with a view to doing the same at the derby.
now, do they do the same again and risk getting picked off, or do they have to change tactics with this horse
personally I don’t think he is good enough, but like you say notorious, who is ???????

Has anyone tried this outfit Racebets.

I tried to put on my first bets with them today. Horses were 14s and 25s, they offered me 7s and 14s instead. Naturally I declined. They then sent me an email to inform me that I would would be restricted to s.p. only from now on.

    How’s that for ‘impressive’.

you naughty man, how dare you back horses at 14 and 25-1, 50 lashes for you sir, and don’t darken our doors again !!!!!!
just what you would expect from a mickey mouse johnny come lately outfit I guess….

I would email them back and tell them I will lose my money elsewhere in future, im sure they would see the funny side of that.

Some good group races in France / Germany.

    1:50 Deauville – HAWKSMOOR @ 4/1 (NAP)
Frankie rides this one for Hugo Palmer and the horse is taking some good form into this race.

    2:20 Deauville – Spirit Quartz @ 4/1 (NB)
This horse is no stranger to races in France, good run at Newmarket LTO and the trainer knows how to get a sprinter ready when the price money is there.

    4:05 Cologne – Knife Edge @ 5/2
Marco Botti sends this one over to Germany and I don’t believe any of the horses in this have the same class as my selection. Ryan Moore booked to get the job done.

    Singles, Doubles and a Treble.

    • Profile photo of biggee
      biggee 7 months ago

God help you if you’re relying on Ryan Moore… he’s having a mare with 1 winner from his last 25 rides!

what has happened to all the godolphin horses john ferguson had running on the jumps.
three kingdoms, parlour games, ruacana, sea lord etc ???
just wondered as he used to plunder a lot of the summer jumps races with these types

  5. Profile photo of the notorious

Last month John Ferguson auctioned all 47 horses he had totaling over £1m if i remember correctly. Ferguson is now Chief Executive and racing manager to Godolphin

    • Profile photo of elvis parsley

shame, used to enjoy watching these decent flat horses tackling jumps.

      • Profile photo of the notorious

no shame for Ferguson, just more money.

        • Profile photo of Johnb
          Johnb 7 months ago

John Ferguson sold 47 horses for £1,180,800
          The cheapest sold for £800
Ferguson is good at what he does but is not a trainer
It is also said in football never rejoin an old club and I say the same in racing, Ferguson as I said is good at what he does but it didn’t work out last time at Godolphin and Godolphin will not go forward with John Ferguson,
Godolphin should with the money at their disposal be far better than they are, they buy horses from other owners but their breeding program should be far better and should be up there with Coolmore,
Godolphin need new blood instead of John Ferguson
They need better trainers, John Gosden should be training more for them, they need better jockeys like Graham Gibbons, Ted Durcan and should even have got Frankie back,
They need to also be blooding apprentice jockeys with two of the best Tom Marquand and Lulu Stanford top of the list
Their bloodstock agents need to be improved as spotting talent at an early age is a skill that can’t be taught, you either have it or you don’t and John Ferguson has cost Godolphin millions of pounds with bad buys,
Looking at other owners John Magnier and the late Robert Sangster have and had a very good eye for a horse especially Sires.
Godolphin need to use Tom Malone as he is the best bloodstock agent by far
But if they can’t afford him then I am sure I could spare the time lol

John, Bin Suroor is a funny individual. When Kieran Fallon failed a drugs test in 2006 Bin Suroor publicy stated that Fallon would never ride for Godolphin again. Eight years later in 2014 Fallon was booked to ride Godolphin fancy True Story.
This is in stark contrast to when Frankie Dettori failed a drugs test in 2012. There was no such thing as a second chance spared for Dettori and I dont see this changing anytime soon.
People is glasshouses should never throw stones. (Bin Suroor)

If you want to be taken seriously, rather than getting customary “well done” from forum cheerleaders, then first thing you have to do is cut down number of your picks. Not many will follow your tips if you have too many. 3 is more than enough.
      All the best!

Hi mate, first I would remove sandgate, he is 9/1 and 6/7th fave in a 11 horse race. Then also remove balducci, he is 15/8, hasnt run in near 300 days and is against a 9/4 2nd fave who ran recently and has a 7lb claimer.

Jbs picks look solid, postmans spirit quartz is third fave and hawksmoor is against a 7/4 fave.

Basically i would just look at your 11, eliminate a few in the riskier races, and then make.some small stake combination accys, 3-5 horses.

Failing that two trixies with ur four best horses split into two and two bigger priced horses to fill them up.

Bol and thabks to all contributors!

Upavon runs today off the same mark as he had last time when winning on the turf for the first time,
That win at Newmaket proved he can be just as effective on turf as all weather and with it being the same mark today he looks well ahead of the handicapper considering his all weather rating is 21lb higher, he also won last year on the all weather off a 23lb higher mark

Postman, I guess you didn’t count doubles & treble when you said small profit?

      • Profile photo of

Yeah I did, singles should always be the biggest part of your stake, doubles and trebles are always smaller stakes.

I always do the scoop 6 on a Saturday for two quid, but I also back the six selections in singles as well, example would be last Saturday when Belardo won at 8/1 (I did post it on here) I made a profit.

        • Profile photo of rale
          rale 7 months ago

I am asking because I did the same bets, £10 singles and £2.5 dbls and treble and I ended with small loss. That is one point per single and one pt trixie. One winner out of 3 at odds 5/2 , with trixie thrown in, at level stakes can’t make a profit.
Different story if you put, let’s say 5 pts singles and point trixie.
