Johnb, I saw on the thread for today (14 May) that you re-posted your advice from 14/4 about tipping Golden Horn for the Investec Derby. I’m slightly surprised that you tipped a horse that has never been entered for the race without stating that it would have to be supplemented. Well done if it does run though!!

Hi lads heading over to Hamilton tomorrow night anyone like the look of anything? Cheers

    • Broony 2 years ago

      Hi Alan

Have heard that both Sakhalin Star in the 6:55 at Hamilton and Ambitious Icarus in the 9:00 Hamilton are expected to go well.

On yesterdays subject of lucky 15s,are betfred the only bookie payin treble odds for one winner now. As i seem to recall my last l15 with paddypower a couple of months ago didnt have any such bonus!
Not that it matters for tomorrows as all of them are going to win! Lol well maybe…

  7. maxi 2 years ago

    Rookie
i could be wrong but i think if you do them in the shop instead of online then you will get the treble odds. I know thats the way with boyles and the reason they gave me was that online gives you BOG on multiples so only double odds on one winner

  10. Stueyp 2 years ago

Ok Mr F, must have missed it

  11. Duncan Poundcake 2 years ago

Wistar 5/1 4.40 Newmarket, being backed, but Adam Kirby goes to Newbury 4.30 for King Bolete 7/1 , wouldn’t be surprised if both run well.GL.

Was at Perth races a couple of weeks ago, my mate who knows a few trainers and owners enquires about a certain horse and was told it will do nothing today(unseated rider)but will win next time. It runs tomorrow No. 7 in the 6.00 @ Aintree!!

  15. Alan 2 years ago

Thanks dc. I k ow i have had treble odds bonus online in the past i guess theyve made it a shop exclusive now!

  17. johnb 2 years ago

It was always going to be a risk with Golden Horn but if the horse is good enough then its a risk worth taking and i thought Golden Horn was good enough and i think that was proved thursday

Golden Horn will be suplemented for our Derby because even though the pedigree says 1 mile 2 furlong,
I say because i know these things Golden Horn will stay the Derby distance.
he is a well balanced horse who settles well
i know this, John Gosden knows this and the owners now know this
it doesnt matter where in the world you come from everyone would rather win our Derby than the French Derby
75k is nothing to these owners
GOLDEN HORN will run in the derby

Kenneth I think Graeme Lee is expecting a good day. He has given up rides on three horses he won on LTO so you have to think that either:

    a) he doesn’t think those winners will follow up or

    b) he thinks he has better chances for winners on the horses he is on

    Only time will tell :)

  38. double carpet 2 years ago

    Guys just a heads up.
I backed ENIGMA CODE 5.55 dundalk last night with pp at 10/1 EW (small stakes) but he is now 7/2 fav and is as low as 11/4 in places. He is still 5/1 with b365 so if your considering backing him then i would do it soon.
He is 20lbs below his last winning mark but that was quite a while ago but is having his first run for new trainer so maybe hes got him going again.
Ive since lumped on him again !!

  48. CharlesMac 2 years ago

The Yorkshire Cup is the feature race on the final day of York’s three-day May meeting and I was fortunate enough to catch up with BetVictor’s Brand Ambassador Michael Owen to discuss the chances of his Brown Panther in the feature event.

“Brown Panther seems in great form and this has been the plan since Dubai; we have to give weight away to five talented rivals which is less than ideal but Panther was, arguably, as good as ever in Dubai last time and we are looking forward to what promises to be a terrific renewal of this valuable and prestigious event.”

BROWN PANTHER (3.15) is 9/4 at to won on the Knavesmire this afternoon and 20/1 to win both the Yorkshire Cup and next month’s Ascot Gold Cup which is his next target. He didn’t appear to quite get home in the Gold Cup 12 months ago but connections are convinced he will stay the 2m 4f trip.

It will be no easy task giving 5lbs to last season’s Leger runner up Romsdal and I liked the way the latter was keeping on over 12f at Newbury last time; this step back up in trip looks sure to suit but Brown Panther gets a narrow vote.

The Channel 4 cameras are also at Newbury and there is a competitive 6f handicap which sees the reappearance of FAST TRACK (2.55) for David Barron. Jimmy Fortune takes the ride on this gelded son of Rail Link who was a most progressive sprinter last term until disappointing on his final start at York. The Barron stable are in good form and there is a big race in Fast Track him I believe this season.

In the 10f handicap APPROACHING (5.00) looked ready for a step up in trip when running on over a mile on his handicap debut at Bath earlier in the month; this son of Derby winner New Approach was very well backed (3/1) and it will be interesting to see if there is money for Amanda Perrett’s 4-y-old with Jim Crowley back in the saddle.

There is a tremendous evening card at Aintree and VIRGILIO (7.05) carries a 7lbs penalty for a recent Warwick success and can follow up for the excellent Dan Skelton. The selection would be running from a mark 13lbs higher if this race were run tomorrow and this looks an excellent piece of placing.

Royal Irish Hussar has disappointed in recent starts but remains open to improvement over timber and would be one to consider if the market spoke in his favour; remember he was once antepost favourite for the Triumph Hurdle having won his first three starts over timber and ran well on ground too soft when last seen back in January.

LOOKING WELL (8.10) can defy a rise in the weights for Nicky Richards in the 3m Handicap Hurdle with leading conditional David Mullins negating the rise with his 5lb claim. The selection looked beaten at Newcastle on his penultimate start before his stamina kicked in and he will need a decent test around this sharp track. He will make a decent novice chaser next term.

I hope the ground is not too fast for Perfect Candidate (7.40) who was last seen in the 4m National Hunt Chase at the Cheltenham Festival; that trip looked to stretch his stamina and he ran much better than his finishing position would suggest on that occasion.

Abricot De L’Oasis is unbeaten over fences for Donald McCain and must go close to his hat-trick but top-weight INDIAN VOYAGE (6.00) might not be the forlorn hope his form figures would suggest for Grand National winning jockey cum trainer Maurice Barnes. His forecast price is 14/1 at BetVictor and he might belie those odds although one has to forgive his latest run at Carlisle which, hopefully, was a pipe-opener following a two month lay-off.

To be fair to JohnB, after my noting yesterday that the best odds available when his post appeared were 13/8, it’s only fair that his lost stats from yesterday also reflect this so if Mr Fix It/Scott could alter the stats to whatever point loss 13/8 gives you then that would be great, thank you
