AFTER a wonderful Wednesday I managed to wipe out my monthly Super Single record by putting faith in Napoli.
Form suggested the Champions League contenders would win at Empoli but of course it was never a gimme although the manner of their 4-2 defeat was shocking.
Five points was lost on the Napoli plus Valencia not to lose punt and 0.85 on Gonzalo Higuain to score first to leave my April balance at zero.
That's disappointing when it was over 20pts up a week or so ago but my choice often comes down to a toss of a coin and even yesterday my bet was close to being Espanyol to win at Granada at a tidy 21-10.
The 2-1 Top Treble I put up was a winner thanks to Rosenborg, Espanyol not to lose and btts at Valerenga. I accept the copy suggested Valerenga to win – but no one reads the words do they?
So we start another month and I'm hoping not to break even with the Super Single but to show a decent profit.
Today's Super Single in the Daily Record is Leigh Griffiths to score for Celtic at home to Dundee at 5-6 with Betfred and might be the choice on the site.
As usual on a Friday my full focus is on my Saturday newspaper column and I'll only look at tonight's card in detail once that's out of the way.
In La Liga Real Sociedad entertain Levante and there are loads of lower-league games in the likes of Holland, France and Italy to consider.
I've not had much time to look at the card so for the Super Single I'm going for Celtic to win at a short price but doubled with both to score at Metz it pays just under evens at Ladbrokes.
Metz are fighting for their lives to avoid the drop and face a Marseille side who have still have hopes of a Champions League place but have lost their last four including a shocking 5-3 defeat at home to Lorient last time out.
Amazingly, Marseille have kept just one clean sheet in their last 15 away games while five out of six of Metz's last six have seen both to score. I've even seen Metz tipped to win at a best 7-2.
For the Top Treble I'm on Celtic -1 plus over 2.5 goals at NEC v Jong Ajax and Helmond v Achilles. Champions NEC have hit 98 goals and are aiming for 100 and there's no sign of them taking their foot off the gas after five wins in a row.
Helmond are an old goals favourite and six of their last seven have gone over 2.5 goals. Since losing 7-0 to NEC they've won four out of five in the league and I thought about taking them at 4-5 to win but the goals bet looks the safer option.

Nijmegen have the league wrapped up but could hit 100 goals with 3 goals today. Would be rude to get so close to the milestone and fail. Jong Ajax have lost 8 out of 10 and I remember Mr O saying that they can’t be relegated or promoted so they have no real fight in them. At bet365 I bet on a corner before 9:00 – the 1st corner was on 8mins 57 seconds (I am watching the game) and they’ve credited corner at 10mins and said my bet was losing.
Anyone else suffered this? (Adelaide v Brisbane game).
I note their T+C’s do not cover this… Why is time of corner not same as time of goal?

SimpleDXB, it will be based on when it is taken not awarded, I wasnt watching so dont know if it was awarded or taken on the time you have stated mate, I had a similar bet on a game a couple of years back where I had over 10 corners, the 11th corner was awarded in the 93rd min, the ref blew the full time whistle before it was taken so it didnt count, I was absolutely raging at the ref at the time but the rules on the website clearly stated its when the corner has been taken it is counted as a corner, not when awarded, hope this helps

I am on the phone to B365 now – I am asking why all other ‘time of’ events (e.g. goal/card etc) are at time of occurrence yet corner is not (if that is what they are claiming). Will report back… B365 are generally dicks for sorting stuff out though.
SimpleDXB, anything after 08:59 is considered over 9 mins (even goals). If you had a bet on a goal to be scored before 9 mins and it had been scored 09:40, it would have been considered a goal in the 10th min.

OK – so B365 have said that the official timing of the game is different to that shown on the screen on B365 and also on the screen of the game showing scoreboard in top LH corner? WTF? Their T+C’s state:
“10 Minute Events
Events must happen between 0:00 and 09:59 to be classed in the first 10 minutes (e.g. a corner awarded in this period but only taken after 10:00 will not count).”
I said that they are basically arbitrarily determining events which I am watching live. Long story short they have re-credited bet, which I guess is about as good as I was going to get. They are adament corner for the purposes of this bet was taken after 10th min.

DXB you’ve done really well to get your stake back from that one mate, I guess the difference with card/goals to corners is that once its awarded its settled whereas corners need to be taken to count as a corner and the time it is taken, something to keep in mind going forward

I know it’s annoying but I guess they need to have rules. If you’d bet for NO corner in that 10 mins you’d probably be happy – like every 2 choice bet, there’s a winning option and a losing option.

Hi guys, had a terrible run so gave it a break for a few days. Think I’ve found some great value in the good old Dutch Eerstie Divisie. The game is between FC Oss v Sparta Rotterdam.
Oss are a team I’ve backed regularly this season with good success. Admittedly their form has dipped but they are still strong at home. They have lost their last 2 home games, however one was against table topping side NEC, so we’ll forgive them for that one. They are currently placed 8th in the table.
Sparta on the other hand are just below in 9th. Their form is slightly better however it’s certainly nothing to shout about. In general they are poor on the road – in their last 7 away days they have lost 6 and drawn once.
Somehow the bookies have priced Oss up at 14/5 for the win, proabably based on their form, but I think they might have got this wrong. So to summarise, tonight I think all of the following offer good value:

Got it this morning at 13/10 and it was down to 5/4 within an hour or so. the only reason I can see for the away team being so highly priced is based on their form last season because this season they’re in better form than the home side and their results are much improved on last season so I guess they’ve strengthened. I decided to make it risky today!
My first selection comes from Eerste Divisie. Maastricht is 12th in the league table but in excellent form at the moment. They won 7 out of last 10 home games (5 out of last 5!) scoring 23 goals in total. They face Den Bosch who won just 1 in last 12! Moreover, they scored only 2 goals in last 7 away league matches.
Maastricht is 2.00 to win which is too high in my opinion. They beat 4th Emmen 2-1, 5th Volendam 6-2 and 15th Telstar 3-0. Den Bosch is 16th, so I will be on Maastricht to win -1 asian handicap. Odds are massive for this: 2.91!

Metz – Marseille may be a very interesting game today. Visitors are on a very bad run of 4 defeats in a row where they conceded 7 goals in total (5 in the last game with Lorient). Metz is in relegation zone and will push hard to get out of it. They lost their last game 3-1 with PSG but this obviously can be forgiven. Before that they stopped Bordeaux (1-1), beat Lens 3-1 and Toulouse 3-2. They also scored 2 goals in a 2-3 defeat with St. Etienne on 14th March.
Bookies expect both teams to score today (1.61) and I decided to make one step further, take more risk and go with 2 or more Metz goals for a massive price of 3.23.

Being a Hammer, I think West Ham are a very good price to win tomorrow’s game against Burnley.
Burnley will feel that this is a game they can win but they are currently suffering a goal drought (just like the Irons) but I feel the West Ham players will show some fight in their penultimate game at the Boleyn Ground and I feel they’ll put on a good performance, resulting in a win.
West Ham have only won 2 games since Boxing Day and will want to put that right. In fact, since Boxing Day they have lost to the following teams: Chelsea (home/away), Arsenal (home/away), Liverpool (away), Crystal Palace (home) & Leicester (away) – other than the last two teams which included playing against an in-form Leicester side and a resurrection at Palace due to Pardew’s appointment, you’d expect West Ham to not come away with any points from any of the other teams that beat them.

I am aiming this at bet365 as they are my bookie for football bets,
I am sick to the back teeth of them flashing up a goal in a match then 10 seconds later withdrawing that goal. I completely understand that goals are sometimes disallowed but this happens way to often, why don’t they hold back a few seconds and save us all the grief of cheering a bloody goal that does not stand.
