Masterclass: How to Bet on Early Goals

GREG BROWNING’S been tipping early goals in various games recently with some success. Here he explains his tactics and staking plan.

He says: “I’m always looking for new markets when it comes to goals and and over the last month or so I’ve been doing time of the first goal markets and had some terrific wins from it.”

First Goal Time

The time when the first goal will be scored – before 10 mins, before 20 mins, before 30 mins and so on! Seems obvious but there are a few variations depending on what bookie you use.

How do you find the market! The market is only available once the inplay markets appear (bet365 usually around 10 mins before kick-off).

Scroll to the very bottom of the markets and you’ll see it “time of first goal” – save it as a favourite so it appears at the top.

What bookies offer this market? In terms of coverage across the leagues bet365 is needed.

What leagues are available? Every top league and second tier in Europe – MLS, Oz and the South American leagues.

How will I know if the market is avail on a specific game? Once the match appears inplay you’ll know it’s available where there are 62 or more inplay markets available (it tells you beside the match).

Why this market? As you know I love goal betting, you have the opportunity to get some fantastic returns for modest stakes and have right up to 40 mins to get some winners. The more goals in the first 10 the better chance of 20 min and 40 min markets coming in and the first 10 min markets pay on average 4-1.

How much to stake? It’s not for me to tell you but certainly for 10-minute and 20=-minute markets it really is small stakes – 40-minute market a larger stake.

Betting method? For 5 games. Goal before 10 mins – 5 fold, 4 fold and trebles.

Goal before 20 minutes- 5 fold, 4 fold

Goal before 30 minutes – 5 fold.

Goal before 40 minutes – 5 fold.

Your 40-minute stake should be enough to cover the other bets and some profit.

Potential returns: Based on 5 matches depending on what league it can pay between 800-1 and 3000-1 for all 5 in the first 10 minutes. 20 minutes around 80-1, 30 mins 10-1, 40 mins 4-1.

Same again for 4 teams but this time it will be 4 fold, treble and doubles.

For matches of three and two teams it’s up to you. I do quite a lot of singles – best method for me anyway is.

Goal before 10 min
Goal before 20 min
Goal before 30 min

Based on your total stake goal before 10 will give you 2-1

If it’s after 10 but before 20 evens.
If it’s after 20 but before 30 money back.

Like I said this is just to give you an idea – it’s up to you to decide stakes and find a method that works for you.

Hope this helps. Goals is where the heart is.

Greg Browning

Great write-up mate, @admin this needs to be a sticky !!! I.e. nailed in place so this info is always at hand.

I’ve often wondered on another betting tactic, a blanket goals bet if you will….

Domestic calendar: typical prices of around 50/1 and 66/1…. on 3-3 scoredraws.. You only need to land about 3 over 2 weeks to cover your stake easily, the rest is profit. Most weeks there’s a good 5 or 6 such scorelines. On a bad week, theres a couple over the 4 top tiers in English footy.

If used with oddschecker selecting the best price with the best bookie ( some bookies will have better prices ), even with a £1 on each match should see a good fortnightly return.

    Whats your thoughts?

This is fantastic way to boost the pot betting on goal times.
I tried this during the week using a slightly different method than the one @gregbrowning has expertly explained above.
If your busy and cant wait for inplay market to become available you can place bet/bets pre match by going to the GOALS MARKET and selecting EARLY GOAL eg Goal before 26 mins which 9 times from 10 will be priced up at 5/6.
I used this on monday when there were 5 Swiss games all kicking off at 5.30pm and done all 5 to have a goal scored within 1st 30mins.
The 5 of them all landed before the 23rd min at generous odds of 16.47/1.
Happy days indeed thanks to the Guru from Perth.
Keep up your good work greg 😉

Awesome stuff Sir Browning, made some right profit over the past week or two following this method – never would have though to use this market until you mentioned it. Thank you for introducing this method of betting…will be one of my main markets come the start of the new season. Hats off to you my man #guru #legend

Just applied this to the Reysol v Avispa game, worked a charm – goal within 5 minutes! Top stuff Mr Browning

@gregbrowning / @waddo – do you have an example staking / bet? I am still not following the 5-fold reference… (sorry if being a dimwit)

      Hi mate,

When I first gave this a try out I’d just put smallish stakes on to begin until I understood the concept – so, for example – if there were 5 games all kicking off at once, I’d do 50p on the 5-fold for goals before 10, 20 and 30 mins – totalling £1.50. I’d then do 20p on 4-folds from the 5, again on a goal before 10, 20 and 30 mins – totalling £3.00 and finally trebles – 10p on trebles from the 5, again on a goal before 10, 20 and 30 mins – totalling £3.00…

So I staked around £7.50 – and most of the time I’ve either come out at the end of it with a profit or got the money back. You can of course alter your stakes accordingly, I’ve since grabbed the concept of it and upped my stakes a little and it’s been very profitable – especially last week during the Swiss league games.

      Hope that makes sense.

Why is this pointless stuhugh1? I think Greg has found a gem of a market here, and more often than not I’ve profited from following.

Off to the big game – Cumnock v Clydebank.
We probably need a win to keep promotion hopes alive.
Good luck to everyone with all of their bets today.

Good opportunity to use this market again in Russia at 11:30am for the final games of the season…I’ll just be picking out 5 games I think we’re likely to see goals in and use those for mine.

As mentioned, I’ve picked out 5 Russian games we’re likely to see goals in – just based on this season stats and whether any teams involved need a win today etc…

    Goal before 10 mins…

    Dinamo Moscow v Zenit
    Lokomotiv v Mordovia
    Rubin Kazan v CSKA
    Ufa v Spartak
    Ural v Kuban

Goal before 20, 30 and 40 mins on the above games also.

Permed 3 and 4 from all 5 in the goal before 10 mins market.
Permed 4 and all 5 in the goal before 20 mins market.
5-fold on the goal before 30 mins market.
5-fold on the goal before 40 mins market.

I presume that all the games must ko at the same time for this to work (ie to be able to place in play bets for 20, 30, 40 mins etc.). It is only goals before 10 mins that seem to appear pre-match.

So bearing that in mind are there any thoughts on this pms games (e.g. Scandos) to try this on ?

I reckon the Swedish 3pms look good, lots of high scoring and high conceding sides. I’m doing a 4fold on the Allsvenskan and Superettan 3pm kick offs

missed the swedish kick-offs as busy but looks as if they might have paid off Michael
