Tonight sees the return of the Champions League with Real Madrid 2-0 up as they welcome Schalke and Porto and Basel tied at 1-1 after a first leg in Switzerland.
Incredibly Real boss Carlo Ancelotti is being questioned by fans after a weekend 1-0 defeat at Athletic Bilbao that allowed Barcelona to take over at the top. However, in Europe there's no stopping Real who are going for a record 11th Champions League win on the spin – they currently share the milestone with Bayern Munich.
Schalke will be without Kevin-Prince Boateng, Julian Draxler and Jefferson Farfan as well as keeper Ralf Fahrmann and Dennis Aogo. Four others are doubtful.
Real, who have won 11-2 on aggregate in three ties versus the Germans, are 4-7 with bet365 to cover the minus one handicap.
Cristiano Ronaldo is as usual the obvious choice to score first and is 3-1 with Ladbrokes and just 4-7 at Betfred to net at any time. Only against Ajax and Galatasaray has he netted more against in this competition.
Porto were by far the better side in Switzerland – they had 15 shots to Basel's one – and have a great home record. I'll be on them to win at 9-20 with bet365 even though they are missing top scorer Jackson Martinez.
Cristian Tello and Yacine Brahimi should see them home and I'm looking at Tello to score at 19-10 with BetVictor.
In Scotland Rangers expect close to a full house for the visit of Queen of the South in the Championship. Fans will welcome the new board but will the players rise to the occasion?
I'm not sure if they will until a new manager is appointed so it's no bet for me. Rangers are a best 4-6 at BetVictor while Queens are 9-2 at Coral.
I tipped Inverness to KO Raith in the Scottish Cup at the weekend and I'm standing by them in the rescheduled tie. The winners face a big semi-final clash with Dundee Utd or Celtic and I expect ICT to win at 4-11 with Coral.
My top treble in today's Daily Record is Real -1, Porto and Inverness and I'm sticking with that.
For the Super Single I'm siding with Bristol City at Yeovil even though some people have voiced doubts about midweek form going out the window. However, I'm pleased to hear City boss Steve Cotterill say he'll make little or no changes to a side chasing a fifth win in a row as they charge to the League One title.
It's bottom v top so a price of close to evens is too good to miss and hopefully form won't go out the window tonight.
I looked at Bradford away to Tony Mowbray's Coventry but their boss Phil Parkinson is making changes during a hectic spell that will see them play tonight, Saturday and against Reading in the FA Cup quarter-final replay on Monday.
Lower-league games in Scotland are often best left alone but having won 2-0 at leaders Morton on Saturday I'd be tempted to have a nibble at Forfar at 8-5 with boylesports at Peterhead.
For my goals bet I'm going with both to score at Elgin v Clyde – two teams still hoping to battle into a League Two play-off spot. Elgin have scored 12 and conceded nine in their last four games so a clean sheet is as likely as me picking a winner at Cheltenham today.
Barry Ferguson's Clyde have started to pick up results and are unbeaten in six – scoring in all of them. Both have scored in four of the last six meetings in the Highlands.

Porto’s last 14 Champions League goals have been scored between 45-90 minutes. No tip just a fact. Also can we please stop peddling the nonsense that teams perform worse in midweek??? There are shocks in football every day of the week but it is more noticeable in midweek as there are fewer matches than weekends and these results stand out more.
raaljaca, my own belief is there are more shocks midweek than at the weekend. That I reckon is partly to teams having an extra game thrown at them and even some players preferring to play during the day than at night. Also it affects part-time teams more because some players will work then play later on.
I know it all comes down to opinions Mr F with no stats to back it up but an extra game affects both sides and a better class side should in theory have more ability so the extra game doesn’t really make a difference. The part time teams who have players working will probably be underdog anyway so any effect from tiredness will favour their opponents. The day/night theory would be hard to prove but again an evening game gives sides longer to prepare on the day and again a better team should have more experienced and skillful players whose ability will show irrespective of what time a kick off is.
raaljaca, anyway you’ve convinced me – Bristol City it is for the Super Single. Apparently the worst time for players is 12pm kick-offs as their body clocks are not used to training at that time.
That I would agree with Mr F as they have no way of having the correct amount of carbohydrates etc in their system as they cannot get their food intake balanced correctly.
early morning/ lunchtime events are a nightmare… i find that because most of the high intensity training related stuff is done afternoon or night and when you try to convert that intensity related to your paricular event at that time its hard to adjust….all part of the highs and lows of competing…….

Raal – I have to disagree with you mate. Midweek games need to be approached with extra caution. Yes I get your point about the results standing out, but either way you look at it for me it’s one to stay away from. BRISTOL will probably end up drawing or even losing. If you follow statistics then midweek games and results need to be looked at.
Hampy – thats the reason im on him, usually when strikers start scoring like that they go on a bit of a run, Martinez and Brahimi are top scorers in the comp for Porto with 5 tho so theyr also worth a shout.
Harpreet, why would better class of players play worse and lesser players play better because it is an evening game Mon to Wed? There is absolutely no reason for a professional footballer to have a variation in ability simply because it is midweek and these theories tend to be peddled by people who have lost a bet.
It was only last week every favourite in the Prem won, the only shocks you see usually are in the lower leagues as anyone can beat anyone, thats why i tend to stay away from them completely, too unreliable.

In regards to all the talk of Bristol City being so generously priced on a mid-week game, all I can say is that the bookies are no mugs! Been in this gambling game for a few years and the bookies have the odds right most of the time.
I’ve been there before on other sports as well, with 1st on table short priced vs last place, and all of a sudden the last place team is odds on and 1st place team price blows out…and low and behold, the last place team wins the match (maybe due to injuries, new signings, scheduling, etc).
Always be aware and do your research if the price looks to good to be true… There’s the old saying, “if it looks too good to be true, then it probably is”.

This is Mr F’s goals bet tonight with BTTS at 8/13. It looks reasonably good but during the day there has been a huge gamble on Elgin to win which I honestly cannot understand. The only reason I can think off is that Clyde are travelling with some players missing but that is a guess. Elgin were as big as 11/8 to win but are now 10/11 in places and the gamble includes the BTTS NO which has shortened. I will try a couple of bets, one to follow the gamble and one to oppose it although both could land;

Clyde double chance was going to be on my 10 a day bet but i was looking at the odds changing all the time and were getting 4/5 now its down to 8/11.
Elgin to win were up and down like a whores knickers so were Clyde, at one point 13/5 then changed again now 5/2, with Elgin 11/10 at the moment, don’t like the look of this changing so quickly for me so decided to leave the double chance out.
Following a busy week containing three League Two matches at Broadwood, Barry Ferguson has given an injury update to the official website.
Scott McLaughlin suffered a broken arm during Tuesday night’s match against Annan Athletic and has already had an operation. Scott Ferguson was also stretchered off in the same match and will require further tests on a knee injury.

ERLAND – simply put its a calculation over a period of games / seasons for the number of games that has ended O2.5 and U2.5.
My main criteria for betting is when both teams show under 30%, however there is the normal team news / H2H and league positions to review so it’s not just the under 30% stats alone.
For tonight the stats were, for example 31% and 33%, so not quite under 30 but close enough, I’ve added an extra goal on the bet, moving it up to U3.5 to satisfy this.

In the goal scorer market, I want to be with Vincent Aboubakar. I tipped him a couple of times last season and only Ibrahimovic scored more than him last season. He should start tonight with Jackson Martinez out and it is a chance to show the Porto fans what he can do. He is 7/4 at 888sport.
Real Madrid are 2-0 up but Carlo Anchelotti has come under pressure and could be facing the boot. This is Mr F’s goals bet tonight with BTTS at 8/13. It looks reasonably good but during the day there has been a huge gamble on Elgin to win which I honestly cannot understand. The only reason I can think off is that Clyde are travelling with some players missing but that is a guess. Elgin were as big as 11/8 to win but are now 10/11 in places and the gamble includes the BTTS NO which has shortened. I will try a couple of bets, one to follow the gamble and one to oppose it although both could land;

Da how would it count as more cards? A red card is only one? The second yellow counts for nothing.
