IT’S Easter Sunday and there’s not much to look at ahead of a busy card tomorrow.
There are a couple of African World Cup qualifiers and some international friendlies but not much else.
I’ve not seen much I like to wil save the top tips for the Easter Monday matches. If I had to have a bet I’d consider Ghana at Mozambique in the African World Cup qualifiers and Spain at Romania in a friendly – the double pays 21-10 at William Hill.
Ghana have won three out of three in qualifiers while and beat Mozambique, who have no points, 3-1 at home but on the road it’s not a gimme.
Romania are unbeaten in 16 matches but Spain can end that run if they put out a strong side. I don’t think there will be much in it though and it’s likely to be low scoring. With Diego Costa injured the Spanish are likely to go with Paco Alcacer up front but their lack of hitmen must be a worry.
It was Athletic Bilbao’s Aduriz Aduritz who came to their rescue with an equaliser away to Italy in midweek on his debut at the age of 35. Pedro, Jordi Alba and David Silva are others likely to start.
I’ve been keeping a close eye on the golf this week and one bet I’ll be having is Louis Oosthuizen at 8-13 with Betfred to beat Rafa Cabrera Bello in the Dell Match Play semi-finals. The other match should be cracker between defending champion Rory McIlroy and new world No.1 Jason Day but tough to pick a winner.
Add Oosthuizen (3.12pm start) to Ghana (2pm) and Spain (7.45pm) and you have a treble paying 4-1. I’m taking it but not advising it for the stats.
Form went out the window in the Scottish games on Saturday with the likes of Falkirk, Peterhead and Clyde all losing at home. Falkirk’s loss was the biggest surprise and they even missed a penalty with the last kick of the ball that would have earned them a point. Peterhead’s defeat handed Dunfermline the title and they were one of my antepost picks.
My Super Single was East Fife and after scoring in the second minute they couldn’t bag another and were held by Queen’s Park at home.
I later put up a second Super Single of both to score at Germany-England and that edged me back into profit. That was also Scott’s members’ only tip and I backed Harry Kane to score in my preview which was really all about goals.
Once again I was a goal short on my both teams to score 6-1 treble with Montrose the ones to beat me – but well done to Greg whose over 2.5 goals treble won at 11-2.
It was also a good day for Jordan with early winners in Australia and then a corners bet on Switzerland v England U-21s.
