GREG’S nap came up yesterday and he’s confident about landing winners today – and hopefully the bad weather won’t wreak havoc.
He says: With it being a reduced card I’ve had more time to spend looking at today’s Scottish matches. Here’s my thoughts and there’s quite a few I fancy!
Stenhousmuir v Forfar
The visitors have picked the right time to get their season back on track if they are to avoid dropping into League Two. A fine 3-1 win against promotion-chasing Ayr last week has given then a good chance of beating the drop and they visit fellow strugglers Stenhousmuir who have shipped 14 goals in their last four games (albeit against sides that occupy the four top spots). Should be goals here and I’m taking Forfar to edge this and move clear of the relegation places.
Ayr v Stranraer
It’s now a case of fighting to finish second for the Honest Men after consecutive defeats has seen them slip to third. They welcome an in-form Stranraer side but given Ayr’s impressive home form (only Dunfermline have picked up a point more) and the acquisition of Ryan Stevenson from Partick Thistle (already scored 6 goals) I’m taking Ayr to make up ground on second-place Peterhead.
Berwick v Elgin
There’s a simple reason why Elgin aren’t top of the league – their away form has been shocking. They’ve failed to win 12 of their last 15 away matches and make the long journey down to England to face a side who don’t lose many at home and have been in good form. The long treks have worked in favour for Elgin at home (best home side in the league) but their inability to grind out results on the road will be the likely reason they won’t win the league. Taking Berwick to put another dent into the Elgin title charge
Ayr to beat Stranraer 1-1 (NAP) (William Hill)
Forfar and Berwick double chance double (13-10, bet365)
Small stake singles
Over 2.5 goals
Stenny v Forfar
Dunfermline v Brechin
Montrose v Annan
Ayr v Stranraer
Fancy all of these – could be a combination of doubles or trebles
Posting as an over 2.5 goals fourfold (11-2, Betway)
