IT'S always risky betting on friendlies but I was a bit unlucky as I chose not to go with Scotland after they were cut from 4-5 to 4-6.
Scotland were my Super Single in the Daily Record on Wednesday and I toyed with the idea of putting them up as a 10-pointer but 4-6 was to short when 4-5 had previously been available.
In the end I took Scotland plus Germany/Germany HT/FT. Joachim Low didn't name as strong a side as expected but it included big names such as Reus, Goetze and Ozil and should have been good enough. But fair play to the Aussies for drawing with the world champions in their own backyard and without star striker Tim Cahill.
Luckily the usual suspects posted some winners, with goals bets again proving their worth, so it was a decent day in the main.
I'm afraid it's all about friendlies again tonight with the standout match being France v Brazil in Paris. PSG defender and Brazil skipper Thiago Silva returns for his country after missing that 7-1 World Cup semi-final defeat to German but his clubmates Marquinhos and David Luiz are injured.
Arsenal's Gabriel Paulista has been drafted in for the France game and another friendly against Chile in London on Sunday.
France will be without crocked Spurs keeper Hugo Lloris and Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba and I'll hope for more team news on Thursday.
There are no other European teams in action and I've decided not to put up any tips on today's games having had a look about. Ivory Coast interest me at home to Angola but the game's really an excuse to have a party to celebrate their African Nations Cup success.
Keeper Boubaccar Barry and Kolo Toure will take part even though they've retired from internationals and all the big guns are there including Yaya Toure, Cheick Tiote and Wilfried Bony. By contrast Angola's squad is picked from national league players with no European-based stats chosen.
So Ivory Coast should win and they are 2-5 at Skybet but can they be trusted to play – or to party? I'll let you decide.
World Cup 2022 hosts Qatar are involved in another friendly at home to Algeria and in this one the visitors have travelled with their main men including Spurs' Nabil Bentaleb and Sporting's Islam Slimania. Qatar remain a weak international side and Algeria look decent at 19-20 at bet365 but you can't get away from the fact it's an exhibition.
So while I may have a punt on Ivory Coast and Algeria the top tip I'm putting up is for England v Lithuania tomorrow. I'm putting 10 points on England to win to nil in a bid to cut the Super Single losses before the end of the month. It's not chasing because 10 points is my maximum daily allowance – and I may even do the same bet on Friday.
England should win this one easily – and I'll put up a full preview tomorrow – and they're unlikely to conceded. Lithuania are omn of international football's lowest scorers and in their last two qualifiers against Switzerland and Slovenia they've lost 4-0 and 2-0 respectively. Even against San Marino they won just 2-0.
If England win to nil I'll wipe out the Super Single losses by Saturday if the team I'm likely to pick wins at 12-5.
There is no goals tip at the moment but if raaljaca puts up one I like I may nick it.

This by no means is a tip and I’d have to look at teams before hand (apart from the fact the only Iranian I can name on one hand is Ashkan Dejagah) but some may remember the game Iran gave Argentina in the World Cup and nearly went 1-0 up on a few occasions. The friendly tomorrow against Chile is being played in Austria so no real home turf advantage but closer to home for the Iranians. Chile as short as 4/11 to win but BTTS @ best @ 13/8? I’m not touching any games now until next Friday when the championship kicks off again and to which i will now be focusing on.
First game I like the look of is Derby vs Watford…..this one screams goals.
H2H reads as: 1-2, 4-2,2-3,2-1,5-1,1-2.
Derby sit 6th in the championship after a run of games which have not seen them win since February, losing 3 and drawing 2 of their last 5 games.
Watford on the other hand have been in fine form bar a some what surprising loss at home to Ipswich and sit 2nd hot on the heels of Bournemouth for top spot.
Key stats here are the H2H’s which point to goals in this fixture. Derby have won the last 3 h2hs 1-2,4-2,2-3 and are bookies favourites to nick a win at home. I don’t think they should be favourites here despite a good h2h record, yes they will want to win at home and to try and gain some ground for playoffs and will need to pick up max points. However I would be more inclined on a Watford win based on the momentum they have and the added boost that they have firepower and motivation to go for top spot of the championship. Add the fact that Watford have scored in all of their last 5 away games and have scored at least 2 goals in each.
If Derby play how they did against Wolves last Friday they will not stand a chance. I can’t remember the name of the Derby fan on here who is usually quite good at providing a prospective but it would be good to hear his views on this one.
My main bets are:
BTTS and over 2.5 match goals @ 11/10 B365 – this bet would have landed in the last 6 H2Hs
Watford over 1.5 team goals 13/8 B365 – excellent price in my opinion, as stated Watford have scored at least 2 goals in their last 5 away games so this stands a chance and at this price I’m happy to take a chance given that this fixture has a tendency for goals.
Those who want to play safe over 2.5 match goals is 17/20 with B365 which is good and I can’t see this price lasting come next Friday.
I will be researching now to next Thursday and my focus will be on the championship games next Friday as I won’t be involved in anything relating to friendlies or qualifiers!

Raal mate when you say check the markets -would you use oddschecker? Ie see where the money is going on well backed lines etc. This wont always mean its necessarily a winner though will it..for instance the blackpool v leeds game last week where most punters were certain leeds would win and I assume bookies would have seen a lot of money coming in for them. Whats the best way to gauge these markets etc? appreciate any advice as myself and all of us on here want to make some money from these bookies. I’m noticing some people on here that are getting desperate to bet and to win no matter who is playing STOP NOW and tell someone before it is to late. Never ever chase losses snap out of the trance that you find yourself in.

James the one massive mistake we make is to ignore common sense and follow any sensible rules. It is simply human nature to want back what you have lost. The minute you decide not to write off any loss and decide to chase it you are in trouble. Lose £1,000 you aim to win £1,000 back so your betting strategy has just gone out the window as we should never ever aim at actual amounts we should just aim at winning bets. Stopping betting is the best decision you will ever make as it is time consuming, destructive to many and also sees your priorities in life all wrong. Good luck mate.
James I know exactly how your feeling mate, a trance is the perfect way to describe it. I never ever betted in my life up until just under 2 years ago, when I thought Scotland would have no chance in Croatia in a euro qualifier, so lumped a couple hundred quid on Croatia, Scotland subsequently went on to beat the croats. I then tried chasing my losses and before I knew it was in trouble. A clear head was what I needed and to be sharing with someone my problem, I did neither foolishly and tried to solve it myself.

Just had a quick look at tomorrow’s LOI action.
I have already backed BTTS in Dundalk v Sligo @ 2.1 with Betfair. There is a chance that could come in and is very overpriced for me. Sligo haven’t won yet but have scored in every game including against Shanrock Rovers who will have one fo the tightest defences in the league this year.
Not remotely interested in backing Dundalk at a best 1.62 but Sligo concede plenty so there should be goals in this game. Over 2.5 is also 2.1 and could be taken imo as it has a great chance.

Form is irrelevant, other than giving us a good price, in a match like this involving a bet like this. Form is what people use to choose teams to win and the bookies have already priced that up accordingly, bookies cannot price up a one off goal for an outsider except by guesswork which is why the goal market can be used to beat them repeatedly.

Mr F I know this site insists on being sensible just a shame I never was on it as much before.
The money I had was for home improvements and 3 weeks ago I had 3 opportunities to either get my money back or most of it but being down to the last few thousand my emotions and panic got the better of me.
The main one was bolton vs reading basically if bolton held on for the win I would of won £40,000 yes £40,000 I only covered the draw at small stakes with 15 mins left (not thinking straight) at 9/2 and didn’t wait until it was 10/1 for a few thousand cover jamie mackie scored in the 93rd minute.
Will haunt me that one. But chin up I and my kids have our health which is invaluable.
The reason for me mentioning it is I’m noticing some key phrases here that in my mind was thinking and saying.
Feels like the last 7 months have been like the film click with adam sandler I’ve totally been ignoring the missus and rushing my time with the kids so I can get stuck in to my bets. It was a lesson I needed a harsh 1 but I’m a believer everything happens for a reason.
