THE only online bookie that lists SPFL and Scottish Cup first-scorer prices for every game are McBookie.
McBookie‘s Damian Walker gives his first-scorer tips every weekend and challenges punters to pick their own. Damian did better than the rest last week with Robert Thomson of Brechin giving him a nice 9-1 winner.
From all the entries the only winner was Budgies Bravehearts with Celtic’s Leigh Griffiths at 23-10. Email [email protected] to claim your prize – and I believe this is Budgies’ second win of the season.
Leave your tip as a comment and quote player’s club and first-scorer price with McBookie – Scottish games only – for a chance to win £10 this weekend. Here is Damian with this week’s selections.
He says: It had been coming and last weekend my 9-1 tip Robert Thomson grabbed the first and only goal of the game as League One’s bottom club Brechin shocked Ayr.
It is a tired cliche but I’m only as good as my last bet so let’s hope for some more winners this weekend.
No apologies for starting in League Two for the first selection as this is where the bookies have been making a stack of mistakes. I’m still not sure how most came up with 4-9 Arbroath at home to East Stirling.
The Smokies binned manager Todd Lumsden after a shocking run that saw them plummet to third bottom and new boss Dick Campbell took them to second bottom in midweek with a 3-0 loss to Berwick who leapfrogged them.
Arbroath sit just five points above Shire and drew 0-0 in a repeat of this fixture just a few week ago so how can they be so short? Anyway rather than wonder why the best thing is to get stuck into East Stirling at 5-1 (7-1 elsewhere) and find a first scorer.
No messing around and I’ll go for Shire’s leading scorer David McKenna who is 7-1 with McBookie to open the scoring.
The bookies (McBookie included) have got the wrong favourite in the Clyde v Elgin game. They all side with the home side but they have been so inconsistent this season and even in the last few weeks when they beat East Stirling 3-0 away in midweek having lost 1-0 at home to them exactly a week earlier.
Leaders Elgin have somehow managed to get their small squad to perform week in and week out and it was great news for their supporters to see Kyle Lander join on loan from St Johnstone. I expect Elgin to win this game and further strengthen their title claims.
Craig Gunn continues to be the man to follow for the Black and Whites and is 9-2 with McBookie to be the game’s first scorer.
The big game of the weekend is the League Cup Final and full marks to anyone who predicted a Hibs v Ross County final. Even Mystic Meg got that one wrong.
Predicting the correct odds hasn’t been easy either and somehow bookies have Hibs as 7-5 90-minute favourites over 85-40 Ross County.
Remember Hibs’ last three Championship results have seen them lose to Dumbarton, Morton and Queen of the South.
Also this will be Hibs’ 11th game in six weeks and I think battling on three fronts – Championship, Scottish Cup and League Cup is taking its toll on the players. Still fancy the 7-5?
Obviously I don’t and the Staggies striker Liam Boyce ended a barren run of eight games without a goal last weekend but still has 18 goals to his name this season. McBookie make him 6-1 to score the first goal of the Final and that will do for me
Can you find a winner this weekend?
McKenna (East Stirling) 7-1
Gunn (Elgin) 9-2
Boyce (Ross County) 6-1
