IT'S a clash of the titans in week six of the Premier League Darts on Thursday night.

World No.1 Michael van Gerwen – fresh from winning the UK Open at the weekend – goes up against 16-times world champ Phil Taylor for the first time this year.

Van Gerwen is still unbeaten in the Premier League, having drawn his last two matches, and Coral make him 6-5 favourite.

The Power, a point behind van Gerwen in the standings, is 9-5 at 888sport with the draw 7-2 at Paddy Power. It should be a fiercely-fought affair and Skybet's 6-5 for over 11.5 legs looks tempting.

Table-topper Dave Chisnall can gain revenge for his weekend UK Open defeat when he takes on fellow St Helens dartist Stephen Bunting again tonight.

Chisnall is evens at BetVictor, who make his opponent 2-1, and with both players big hitters the 21-20 offered by Betfair for over 6.5 maximums is worth a look.

Completing the Nottingham line-up is Gary Anderson v Adrian Lewis, Raymond van Barneveld taking on James Wade and Kim Huybrechts versus UK Open runner-up Peter Wright.

At the Cricket World England round off their miserable campaign against Afghanistan in the early hours of Friday morning and New Zealand take on Bangladesh.

Elsewhere on Thursday there's men's and women's tennis action from the Indian Wells Masters plus Paris-Nice cycling stage four and NBA matches.

Lump on Carreno-Busta @ 7/4 to beat Donald Young – NAP.

Any reasoning behind advising users to lump their money on this ???
Not like it starts in 5 minutes its a Friday game

    • JimJams 9 years ago

Quite right mate; if I’m going to be so bold as to tell people to back in heavily, then the least I can do is provide some logic.

Carreno-Busta has a far better all-round game, and is naturally far more talented, BUT if you’re looking at this one on recent form then you can see that Young has that on his side significantly more than Carreno-Busta. However, this is where the bookies have priced it up all wrong.

      Mains reasoning is as follows:

      1/ Never previously met.
2/ Young might still be on a come-down from the Davis Cup defeat to GB.
      3/ Carreno-Busta has a much more skilful all-round game.

PS – This was 60% of the reason why I backed it personally, but the above facts was the catalyst for giving me a gut instinct, which accounts for the remaining 40%, although anything I’ve just said in this paragraph doesn’t make one ounce of bloody sense!

All my NBA bets were good, except for Hawks. I kinda knew it when I placed the bet, Hawks always screw it up when I bet on them..

  4. OriaZ 9 years ago

Haha, Hawks busted a lot of people tonight.

  5. Attila 9 years ago

Hawks really let us down… I never should have gone against my own rule which i’ve stressed on here before of ‘never betting against the Nuggets in Denver’. Anyways, onwards we roll.

Tonight im thinking of OVER 207.0 in the CAVS @ SPURS game. Do I have consensus from anyone? This will either be an offensive shoot-out or a snorebore defensive game…

  6. OriaZ 9 years ago

It’s all right Attila :) we’ll get it all back.
I agree with you on the Cavs/Spurs game, will probably be a high scoring game considering how both teams have been playing lately.

    Indian Wells

    Thursday

    Zhu d Schiavone @ 7/4 (18:00)

Zhu has been impressive in her last few matches and has the game to hurt Schiavone who has been pretty poor since a good run in Antwerp. A matchup I really fancy Zhu in if she serves well and keeps the errors down.

    Sousa d Dodig @ 7/5 (19:30)

I make Sousa slight favourite for this so this looks a good price to me. Playing some nice stuff this year and trounced Dodig 6-2, 6-2 last year.

    Friday

    Van Uytvanck d Svitolina @ 5/2

Van Uytvanck is playing well and Svitolina has been very up and down this year. Can see this being close and Uytvanck has a good chance if she brings her best.

    Townsend d Mattek Sands @ 7/5

Townsend may be a little rusty as she hasn’t played too many matches this year, but if she can muster up a good performance she has the beating of Mattek Sands, who simply isn’t as good as a good Townsend.

  8. JamesB81 9 years ago

    RE. Donald Young v Carreno-Busto

Won’t be lumping on either but I’d take Young before C-B down to the more consistent level he seems to be producing this year, C-B’s lack of momentum and that the North American is happier with hard courts and playing at home.

The trans-altantic post Davis Cup trip over seemed to effect James Ward badly last night and that is the one possible reason I can see for a C-B tip, but IMO not enough to encourage me to wager.

    • Ad 9 years ago

I agree with all of this

    • JimJams 9 years ago

Far points, James. It’s always good to have differing opinions out there! Anything you’re fancying in the footy for the weekend?

Thoughts on Chelsea vs Southampton and Man United vs Tottenham?

    Ad

Dodig has been struggling this year and the Sousa price is tempting. As are the Townsend odds.

I’ll go with a small stakes double for interest.

  10. JamesB81 9 years ago

    Ad

Looked into the Dodig v Sousa match and everything is favourable bar one thing, Dodig has been over in North/Central America for a number of weeks where Sousa has been playing in Europe, including a Davis Cup tie last weekend.

I don’t know when he flew over but may take a tournament to adapt. This may to a degree explain the bookies prices.

Thinking about moving away from tennis tonight to a Europa League btts double (Wolsburg and Villareal games).

    Afternoon Guys, Darts

    Bunting v Chisnall

A cracking night of darts kicks off with a Merseyside derby or sorts with table topper Chizzy looking for revenge against the man who knocked him out the UK Open at the weekend. Bunting was 6-0 up but in truth Chizzy could have won 4 of those has he missed doubles galore. I think he will gain revenge here, he destroyed the world Champion Gary Anderson last week with a 110 average, if he averages over a ton tonight that should be good enough. Chisnall is evens Various.

    CHISNALL TO WIN 1/1

    Barneveld v Wade

A really tough one to call, Barney has one win so far and a draw, two of those defeats were 7-5 so he isn’t getting hammered in the league but was stuffed 9-1 by Peter Wright at the weekend, but Wright also beat Taylor whitewashed Bunting before being derailed by MVG. It maybe just been that RVB ran into Wright at the wrong time. Wade could do with a win he started well against Taylor racing into a lead before letting it slip. All in all I expect a tight game, a draw appeals at 4/1 but I will take over 11.5 legs so I got 7-5 either player on my side. It pays 5/4 Skybet.

    O11.5 TOTAL LEGS 5/4

    Taylor v Van Gerwen

The game of the night the worlds number 1 and 2 square off in what promises to be a classic. They sit one and two in the league in terms of averaging but at 104 through the five weeks. Taylor is throwing first in this one so MVG will always be chasing. They are both strong on their own throws as they both score heavy and I expect tons ton 140s and maximums so breaking the throw could be tough. Regulars know I am a MVG guy and 6/5 on for me the best player in the world looks value, having won another mayor PDC tournament at the weekend, however I think we will see all 12 legs, so O11.5 legs 6/5 Skybet. MVG 180 line is set at 3.5 and I think with plenty of legs he covers this it is 5/6 various and is my best bet of the night.

    O11.5 TOTAL LEGS 6/5
    MVG O3.5 TOTAL 180S 5/6 (Best Bet)

    Anderson v Lewis

I said last week Lewis is hit and miss in the premier league and right on cue Bunting got his first win of the season against Lewis. Anderson was hammered by chizzy last week, then was dumped out the UK Open by Mervyn King as he missed a ton of doubles. Anderson as won the last six matches against Lewis and throws first meaning Lewis will be playing catch up. I trust Anderson more than Lewis at the moment and will be on him at 11/10 various.

    ANDERSON TO WIN 11/10

    Huybrechts v Wright

Wright was involved in a spat with MVG last week as they drew 6-6 he then had a superb run in the UK Open getting to the final beating Barney, Taylor and Bunting along the way, he final seems to have settled with these darts. Kim continued his hoodoo over Barney last week picking up his first win of the season and averaged 105. He averaged 107 in the UK Open but still lost to Chisnall. Wright has won 7 out the last 9 meetings and I will take him to win at 6/5 William Hill. It should be a quality finale and both players can average O97.5 at 5/6 with the sponsors Betway.

    WRIGHT TO WIN 6/5

Week 6 weekly specials sponsors Betway

A 9 darter as been missed two weeks in a row with double 12 narrowly missed. The Taylor v MVG game and Anderson v Lewis game could be the games we see it land tonight. It is 8/1. A 170 checkout is 7/2 and it gives you interest in every leg. Huybrechts brought the 170 checkout up last week. As I mentioned earlier I can see Huybrechts and Wright covering their averages set at 97.5. Kim as covered it past two weeks and Wright was covering it with these new darts last week and at the UK Open.

9 DARTER TO BE HIT 8/1
170 CHECKOUT ON THE NIGHT 7/2
    (Small stakes)

    WRIGHT O97.5 AVERAGE 5/6
    HUYBRECHTS O97.5 AVERAGE 5/6

Good luck if your having a bet

    Cricket World Cup

    Afghanistan win v England

    15/2 betway

    1 point

No explanation needed, England are a joke and Afghanistan having been playing with pride, passion, and commitment the whole tournament. They were highlighted as a potential banana skin before England got knocked out and I can’t see any fight in our side whatsoever.

I’d have priced Afghanistan around 2/1 so 15/2 seems great value for a point or loose change. If a handicaps market becomes available nearer the game I’ll definitely be on it and tipping it with a few more points.

Stewart it’s only 1 point. If it were 5 points I’d understand your concern. I tipped England to be eliminated at the group stages at 9/2 and I’m sure you’d have been saying that was ‘daft’ had you seen it. I’ve not seen anything from us to suggest we’d beat them by that score but each to their own. Good luck if you do bet on anything. If handicap markets come up I’ll keep an eye out for your tips.

VP I don’t think they’d ever be put that low but all form and circumstances considered, I’d personally value them a lot closer to 2/1 than 15/2

Just one Huybrechts 180 away from a full house. He hit so many 140’s, some of which could’ve easily been a 180 if the last dart had’nt been deflected or pulled.

Not a bad evening overall with my only Europa League bet on the Napoli match landing early in the first half.

  40. Harry 9 years ago

Haha kyle cheers it’s nice to have someone constantly on my side! Rather than having to do a write up and then further explain every tip I post! Moeen Ali and woakes are both out injured and Afghanistan have shown 10x the amount of heart as us. Of course we SHOULD win, hence being 1/11 odds on, but after being knocked out and thoroughly embarrassed, are our players really going to be pumped up for it? If you can find me a more valuable 15/2 single then please speak up

  41. Harry 9 years ago

Kyle I’ve not researched any of the overs unders markets for this game as I’ve been fixated with the nags and busy at work so I can’t give you any proper advice but 7.5 seems a little low at first glance, if England do bat first and show a bit of pride then they could get a few. Not something I’d recommend to be honest, also keep in mind the other 2 games in Sydney so far have seen 10 and 16 sixes.

  42. Kyle B 9 years ago

To be honest, I expected England to be around 1/4 to 1/6 depending on the bookie and I think you would be absolutely off your blocker to back us at that price and for Afghanistan to be around the 4/1 – 9/2 mark. Dont get me wrong, I want us to win but Afghanistan are way overpriced at 6/1 to 15/2, the bookies have got the pricing completely wrong and ive stuck a fiver on it should we fail to deliver again, its a price that just simply cannot be ignored for multiple reasons.

£1 or £22 mate I’d rather cover than lose but that’s my way of betting. Good luck gents whatever you’re on.
