JUNIOR TIPSTER CHALLENGE: WEEK 10

IT was another frustrating week for our Junior Tipsters as both men failed to land a winning treble again.

So after nine weeks of the competition Paul Petrie of McBookie.com leads William Hill’s Owen Scott by £24.50 to zero.

Let’s hope the guys can do better this weekend.

Owen Scott writes;

Its only about ten weeks to Christmas and its beginning to look like there will be no money to send to Santa for my kids this year as I’ve went yet another week without a winning treble.  As I said last week I’m going to abandon my no odds on shots rule as its the Second Round of the Emirates Scottish Junior Cup today and there are plenty of odds on shots available.

In the outright market Auchinleck Talbot are by far the best backed side so far and are currently 7/1 favourites to win the title for a record tenth time.
Linlithgow Rose are second favourites and are many peoples choice to do the business this season, they are currently 8/1.

There are a quartet of sides who follow Linlithgow on 14/1 – Bo’ness, Bonnyrigg, Irvine Meadow and Petershill.  Outside of the top six in the betting Arthurlie are now 20/1 (from 25/1) and Mr Fixits side Clydebank are available at 25/1 but will be much shorter should they overcome Glenafton today.  My money this season is on Linlithgow Rose plus a heart placed bet on Cumnock who are currently 33/1.

Back to today’s matches and its easy to pick three short priced sides to ensure I get a winner but despite abanoning my ‘odds on’ rule for this week I’m still looking for some value.

My first selection is from an East v West tie and I’m taking KELTY 4/9 as they play host to Renfrew.  Kelty have been playing well this season and will be confident at home to progress to the next round.

Next I’m taking JOHNSTONE 8/13 away to Lochgelly.  Johnstone have started well this season whereas Lochgelly are still looking for their first league win.

It’s another West v East match to complete my treble and I’m taking KINNOULL 5/6 away to Carluke.  Kinnoull have a 100% record in the league this season and look good value as they head west.

Owen’s Treble

  • KELTY 4/9
  • JOHNSTONE 8/13
  • KINNOULL 5/6
  • The treble pays £42.77 for a tenner at Hills

Paul from McBookie says;

I am sticking to the Emirates Scottish Cup this week for my treble and although there are plenty of short priced favourites there is still the possibility of a decent treble

First up I am going for Hermes to beat Falkirk Juniors. I usually stay clear of the North Region sides when they are up against other regions but Hermes are clearly better than your average North side and should be good enough to beat Falkirk. We are 4/7 with Hills 8/13

Next up I am on current holders Shotts to beat Haddington. They haven’t made the best starts to the season but this should be a winnable game at a decent price- both are offering 8/13

Finally, I am on Salcoats to beat Forfar Albion who I believe Owen has made slightly too big at 1/2 – we are 4/11.

Paul’s Treble

  • Hermes
  • Shotts
  • Salcoats
  • Returns £29.14 profit with Hills and £24.62 with McBookie
