MY top treble was a winner as I stuck to the tennis on Monday.

Andy Murray, Stan Wawrinka and Simona Halep won for a 3pts profit.

Tuesday's games in the women are tough to call while finding value in the men's is the problem with Rafa Nadal and Novak Djokovic in action. Nadal's hardly dropped a game never mind a set although Djoko could be given a decent examination by Dominic Thiem.

Instead of putting up a tennis bet for today I've picked one out for Wednesday. I've tipped Simona Halep to win the women's singles so will be on the Romanian at around 1-2 to beat Elina Svitolina and reach the last four.

Marin Cilic has had an easy run the men's quarters but I reckon he'll be stopped in his tracks by Stan Wawrinka who is under-rated despite his fine Grand Slam record. Again he is around 1-2.

As far as the football's concerned Belgium were the only side I thought about backing last night but I hate international friendlies and they were pretty short at home to Russia anyway.

Tonight there are more friendlies including Ukraine v Malta and Denmark v Germany.

Scotland aim for a place in the Toulon Tournament semi-finals against Indonesia. After beating Brazil a typical Scots display would be to draw and lose out but hopefully Scot Gemmill side can see his men across the line and set up a potential meeting with England.

There's not much else on as we continue the build-up to the big one at the weekend.

Remember to check out Welovebetting for their tips and video chat.

And if you're having your first bet with 888sport you'll get treble the odds.

    UK GENERAL ELECTION

    TOTAL SEATS

Labour to win over 205.5 seats
    4/5
    SkyBet

The last time Labour failed to win over 205.5 seats was in 1935 when, led by Clement Attlee, they won just 154. Even at arguably their lowest ebbs, in 1983 under Michael Foot and in 2015 under Ed Miliband, they won 209 and 232 seats respectively. Now we all know the dangers and pitfalls of putting too much emphasis on the polls, but the current polling provides further assurance that this should be a safe bet. The latest YouGov seat projection (admittedly the most favourable) has Labour winning upwards of 260 seats, while the Electoral Calculus, based on an average of a number of national projections, has them just short of 220. Either way the late momentum feels as though it is with Jeremy Corbyn’s party and while a Conservative majority still looks extremely likely, I would be staggered if such a successful Labour campaign were to bring about a loss of 27 seats from Miliband’s effort two years ago.

    CONSTITUENCY BETTING

LABOUR to win Gower (currently Con)
    2/1
    bet365

The Conservatives stunned Labour to win this seat in 2015 but they did so by just 27 votes, the slimmest winning margin in any of the 650 UK constituencies. UKIP amassed just shy of 5,000 votes but are expected to record a fraction of that this time around. Prior to 2015 Labour had held Gower for over 100 years and Welsh polling has indicated a late surge in Labour support and a recovery after a shaky start to the election campaign. 2/1 on Labour regaining this seat looks too big to ignore.

LABOUR to win Vale of Clwyd (currently Con)
    13/8
    SkyBet

Similar sort of narrative to the above: the Conservatives wrestled this seat away from Labour in 2015 by a margin of less than 250 votes. Prior to 2015, this had been a comfortable Red seat with Labour taking between 42-52% of the vote in the four elections since its creation in 1997.

A note on both Welsh seats:
UKIP were undoubtedly a factor in the Tory gains of 2015. However, with most voters expected to desert UKIP in 2017, these seats like many others in England and Wales are going to come down to which way the ex-UKIP brigade decide to go: with the hard Brexit promise of the Tories, or the more traditional Welsh flavour of Labour, who have enjoyed a surge in popularity over the past few weeks. Welsh Labour leader Carwyn Jones is the most popular politician in Wales and much of Labour’s renewed support in the area is down to Welsh Labour’s distinctly ‘Wales-first’ manifesto which seeks to distance itself from Westminster, something which will always resonate with the Welsh people.

LABOUR to win Leeds North West (currently LD)
    6/4
    various

Liberal Democrat Greg Mulholland is very popular locally and saw off the Labour candidate Alex Sobel by nearly 3,000 votes in 2015. However, this is an example of one seat which may see Labour benefit from tactical voting by those who want a progressive coalition government. There is a high student population and the area was 65% Remain in last year’s referendum – all of which favours this narrative.

    • williams1993 7 years ago

I like the look of both of those top 2 bets @uno!

I will also be on turnout over 63.5% @EVENS

      2015: 66.4%
      2010: 65.1%

Lots of social media activity this year and i think turnout will be dramatically higher, mainly thanks to Labour’s campaign of attracting those who normally abstain from voting i.e. those from minority backgrounds and students. Weather forecast doesn’t seem to bad with only a light drizzle so this should all good to go.

      Gl!

    • uno 7 years ago

Agreed – Corbyn appears to have mobilised a lot of the young voters who previously didn’t give two hoots about politics. Also, you get the impression many people probably didn’t bother turning out for the EU referendum as they considered it a foregone conclusion. Those people will have learnt that lesson and will surely turn out in force Thursday.

    • headdownrunna 7 years ago

@uno great write-up. I’m not an expert on UK elections but does it not concern you that the pollsters got the last General Election and the EU Referendum horrible wrong and that Labour lost Copeland to the Tories earlier this year? Hope you prove them wrong tho!

    • uno 7 years ago

Yes we can’t read too much into the polls but in general from talking to people etc I get the sense we are seeing a drift towards Labour late in the day. In purely betting terms there doesn’t seem to be a huge amount of value to be had backing the Tories anywhere, the two seats I thought about having them for were Hyndburn and Dagenham just because they are evens or slightly better and are 60%+ Leave voting areas. Like I say Labour don’t even need to perform well to take 206 seats so 4/5 is excellent value for me.

    • headdownrunna 7 years ago

Yeah I think you’re spot on here over 205.5 at Skybet looks tremendous.. cheers

  14. craigyboy 7 years ago

Just looking ahead to the qualifiers..I suspect I’ll get a bit of abuse for saying this but 8/11 for an England victory against Scotland looks too good to be true. Other bets which hold appeal are England to win and over 2.5 goals at 2/1 and England -1 at 2/1 also.
I think Scotland may score but I fancy a 3-1 England win. England seem to thrive when they play Scotland recently.

    • maccathered 7 years ago

Its a no brainer craigyboy England will win this match.

    • Mr Fixit 7 years ago

Scotland talking a good game but of course that matters little.
England should win if they match our passion.
My only concern is their players have been on holiday and how the gap between playing will affect them.
A really stupid time to be playing a World Cup qualifier.

  15. headdownrunna 7 years ago

I don’t normally bet on friendlies but tonight’s match in Denmark is only one of two games for Germany before the Confed Cup starts in less than two weeks time. Germany have chosen what they call an ‘experimental squad’ for tonight’s friendly and the tournament, made up of youngsters and other players with not quite the quality to get into a regular Germany squad.
Denmark will be without Kasper Schmeichel but Christian Eriksen should be available and it looks as if the home side will play a strong team.
I fancy both teams to score but it’s a bit short at 4/7 so I’m going for btts/over.

Just been reading up on the Denmark game. Denmark will start with as close to a first team as possible, As mentioned by someone else Schmichael is out. But with the likes of Poulsen, Dolbjerg and Jørgensen up top and Eriksen pulling the strings I can see the Dane’s getting a couple of goals. This is by the way the 25th anniversary match up of Denmark winning the Euro’s.

So with Germany only having a single training session and pretty much all stars away on their hols. I reakon this has chance.

      HT: 0-0 so it’s looking good for a Scotland v England semi-final.

    • Alves 7 years ago

Seem on news that said they were through, thought the H2H rule would’ve been a bit confusing though. Hopefully go on a wee run and we pump the English on Saturday, see Keith Jackson saying could be ‘best Scottish’ week wi Murray winning Rolande Garros, will take a scrappy 0-0 now tbh
