IT was another strange night – Scotland won a trophy, Holland through away a 3-1 lead to lose to the USA and Dundalk gave up their unbeaten league record.
Who’d be a tipster? Scotland to beat Qatar and under 2.5 goals was about all I got right on Friday night.
I said I hated betting on friendlies and the events in Amsterdam summed up why. The Dutch cruised into a two-goal lead which suited the Super Single perfectly and at that point I should have advised cover – raaljaca pointed out the USA were 250-1 to win.
However, I was glued to the TV as Scotland set about winning the Qatar Airways Cup and didn’t post the advice.
I was quite confident in the Daily Double. Stats suggested a goalfest between Tromso and Molde but the 1-2 visitors failed to hit the target and Tromso missed a penalty in their 2-0 win.
Later Dundalk would have beaten it anyway as they crashed to their first defeat of the season and first league loss for 13 months at home to Bohemians. I said a write-up in the Racing Post tipping Bohemians +1.25 put me off thinking about Dundalk -1 and fair play to the tipster who posted that – the Irish section on a Friday is usually a decent read.
On Saturday it’s really all about the Champions League Final and my full preview will explain why I’m on Barcelona and Lionel Messi to score.
For the Super Single I’m going with Messi to score first at 7-2 with William Hill. It will wipe out the early June losses if it wins – and we can start again.
In Saturday’s Record I’ve mixed Saturday/Sunday tips but don’t usually do that on the site. For example the Top Treble is Barcelona, Auchinleck to beat Musselburgh in the Scottish Junior Cup Final and Stabaek at home to Bodo Glimt. It pays 7-2 at BetVictor.
There are four homes at 9-2 with BetVictor – Helsingborgs against Atvidabergs on Saturday and Basel, Stabaek and Brazil on Sunday. And I’ve added a both to score treble – Valerenga v Rosenborg and Orebro v Halmstad on Saturday and Start v Stromsgodset on Sunday. That returns 3-1 at Ladbrokes.
For the site Top Treble I’m ignoring the friendly internationals and going for Barcelona, btts at Valerenga and Henrik Larsson’s Helsingborgs against bottom of the table Atvidabergs who have lost all their away games.

Meanwhile, Raaljaca’s goals thread started recently and he’s asking for donations to two cancer charities. In June we’re supporting another cause in the shape of Projects Abroad who send volunteers to work in poor countries all over the world.
My student daughter is raising money for a trip to a Romanian orphanage and this month all Buy a Beer donations (£3 minimum) will be passed on to Projects Abroad so click the button if you want to help.
