THE stage is set for a thrilling finale to the Japan Masters darts today after the big names all booked their place in the quarter-finals of the World Series event.

The last-eight matches start at 10am UK time and see world and Premier League champ Gary Anderson 2-5 at the likes of bet365 and Skybet against James Wade, a 2-1 shot at Coral in the best-of-15-legs showdown.

Raymond van Barneveld survived a scare before edging out Katsuya Aida yesterday and is now 3-1 to beat his next opponent Phil Taylor, who is 3-10 favourite at Coral.

The other two matches see Peter Wright take on Adrian Lewis and Michael van Gerwen – Skybet's 7-4 title favourite – against Stephen Bunting, with the semis and final also being held today.

On the cricket front there's County Championship and T20 Blast action while Widnes travel to St Helens in rugby league's Challenge Cup.

Good luck with your bets and let's hear your sporting tips and thoughts.

Looking at people for a couple of acca’s who aren’t ridiculously odds on…
    Nishikori @ 1/4
    Baghdatis @ 8/15
    Zverev @ 2/5
    Bencic @ 4/7

    anyone see issues?

I quite like the look of Bouchard, Safarova and Stephens at their respective prices but I hate betting on the WTA…

    • Mr Fixit 9 years ago

Jack, Bouchard has been as out of form as a tennis player can be. Safarova and Stephens have been tipped to go far but I can’t go against Serena.

Dazzler, the double lost, I know as I was on it!! Cubs scored first before they were battered something like 8-1 haha!

Dazzler how has the double won if the Cubs scored first and the cardinals won?

Baghdatis and Nishikori both retired with injury last week. Hard to say how serious they were. I’m sure it’s just precaution

    -16 @2.0 St Helens v Widnes

St Helens have had a good turnaround having played last Thursday and not playing until Sunday this weekend.
Luke Walsh has only just returned and he’ll improve with more games at half-back where he’s a great organiser.

Joe Greenwood returns in the back row and he’s been in good form, causing a lot of damage. Widnes improved last week against Huddersfield but still conceded 30 points and you can’t expect to keep doing that and win.

Jack- bencic and baghdatis are both a bit risky.
Though bencic could go far this fortnight with a little luck.

De Niro- I don’t see klizan beating fernando. But I do like paire over youzhny and that will definitely be one of my tips when I get them up later.

Tune in at around 8pm tonight folks when I’ll have a full preview of both tournaments up. The

Good to know you not jumped off a bridge or similar after Querrey’s exploits from 5/1 up in the second set tie break and with his monster serve too ;-)

      Amazing !

Afternoon guys, ST Helens v Widnes Vikings

I did write up yesterday for the game but my comments wasn’t showing up so going to just post my tips and give reasons later. Using my phone so apologises for
    Any typo errors

WIDNES O2.5 TRIES 4/6 (SKYBET) BEST Bet

PERCIVAL TO SCORE 6/5 (Coral, Stan James)
    GREENWOOD TO SCORE 3/1 (Ladbrokes)

Good luck if your having a bet

  12. thechief 9 years ago

The best bet or nap I like because the line Is low, Widnes have covered this in 8 of their last 9 games and with both fullbacks missing, Vikings star player Kevin Brown if given time could torment the saints line. Vikings are getting 16 pt start and I think they will score 16pts so should cover the line, as the handicap could go either way

  13. rensen 9 years ago

Well done so far with Percival chief.

Paire and Youzny are both in terrible form. Expect high levels of clowning around and idiocy

Thanks chief, I have to say quality tipping on the rugby league, the best out there, didn’t do the scorers as I lumped my pot on your best bet. Do you fancy dallas for the superbowl? appreciate ur thoughts pal

Only Murray or Djokovic have a real shot at the title any bet on others to win is wasted and cashout won’t drop enough to warrant it with that in mind
I think Murray is the winner having watched him this year and Djokivic price is too short. No contest Murray to win!
No value for me in any quarter other than Dimitrov who is way overpriced at 8’s more like 5’s to win his Quarter, trusting he plays himself into form.

    Wimbledon Tournament & Quarter Picks

And Murray to win Winbledon 11/4 w/hill (super strong)
    4 points
Grigor Dimitrov to win his Quarter 8/1 w/hill(strong)
    6 points
A Radwanska to win her Quarter 5/1 paddy/p(super Strong)
    6 points
Lucie Safarova to win her Quarter 6/1 32red (Strong)
    4 points
Angelina Kerber to win her Quarter 3/1 stan/j (Medium)
    3 points

Only Murray or Djokovic have a real shot at the title any bet on others to win is wasted and cashout won’t drop enough to warrant it – with that in mind.
I think Murray is the winner having watched him this year and Djokivic price is too short. No contest Murray to win for the Mens outright.

No value for me in any quarter other than Dimitrov who is way overpriced at 8’s more like 4’s to win his Quarter, trusting he plays himself into form.

    No value in the Womens outright markets at all for me with Serena the likely winner but the bookies seem out to get her which is interesting – but lots of value in the Quarters for me;
    Radwanska
Could make 5/1 to win her quarter look way too big as she is just hitting form and proven top performer if she gets her A game back this could be a gift only the brittle Kvitova stands in her way; should be 11/4 for me not 5/1 :-)
    Safarova;
As to be the value in her Quarter a proven performer & hoping she hits form here.
Kerber can beat anyone in her day but serve and mind are fragile.

    • Mr Fixit 9 years ago

De Niro, I’m also going Murray. Despite his form I see some tennis experts asking questions of Djokovic – in fact I’ve see two people tipping him to lose to Kohlschreiber tomorrow which would be incredible.

    • De Niro 9 years ago

      Mr F
Would be a massive upset but think Murray as to be the call regardless – he the man – I hope :-) !

    Felix

Baghdatis retired after seeming to pull something in the calf area. It was sudden and after treatment, played one more point before calling it a day.

Bouchard also retired mid-match, after complaining about her ‘abs’although I think her head is giving her major problems aswell.

I’m hoping Camila Georgi can get a decent run at Wimbledon this year. If she picks up a head of steam (not the Bouchard type) and shows the incredible mix of determination and new found discipline that I saw in her recent grass-court final with Benic, she can do well.

Azarenka, penetta, errani, Vinci, sands, navarro and kanepi. Tomorrows ACCA for me.

  21. Felix 9 years ago

Kohlschrieber basically has all the tools but just can’t mentally get over the line generally. Pushed Fed in Halle but had a mental collapse in the deciding tie break when he was ahead.
