I'VE survived another annual golf trip and it's good to be back.

Thanks to everyone who contributed over the past week and kept the site alive and kicking and cheers to Scott Allot for holding fort and putting up posts. He'll back in the hotseat on Wednesday as I'm taking my son to a gaming show in the States for a few days.

I've now looked closely at the Confederations Cup matches between Mexico and Russia and New Zealand and Portugal.
Russia beat minnows New Zealand but defeat to Portugal leaves them needing to beat Mexico today to reach the last four. Mexico started well with a superb 2-2 draw against European champions Portugal but struggled to see off the Kiwis 2-1 after falling behind.
Mexico manager Juan Carlos Osorio rotated his squad for that one and a much stronger side should at least get the draw they need. Russia are a best 2-1 with Betfred but for me that's poor value. I reckon Mexico – 29-20 at bet365 – will edge it but I'm keeping a stalemate on side and going Mexico draw no bet at 14-19 with 10Bet.
Carlos Vela and Javier Hernandez could be asked to upset the Russians and I'm on Hernandez to score at 12-5 with Paddy Power.
Last week I tipped a Portugal v Chile final and that's still on. Portugal face a New Zealand who have lost both of their matches and this should be a convincing win for the favourites.
Fernando Santos's men followed the draw with Mexico with a more professional display as they beat Russia 1-0. He is set to make changes and Cristiano Ronaldo is likely to be saved for the latter stages.
Portugal are no bigger than 1-8 with boylesports so finding value isn't easy. They could cover the -1 handicap though at 2-5 with Ladbrokes and Coral. For a Super Single double that with Mexico not to lose.
New AC Milan signing Andre Silva is likely to play up top if Ronaldo is rested and is 9-10 with Winner to score and no bigger than 9-5 at McBookie to score first.
Chris Wood of Leeds is the Kiwis' dangerman and netted against Russia. He is 16-5 to again hit the target.
There are two European U-21 Championship matches between Czech Republic v Denmark and Italy v Germany. The Germans are through with the Czechs and Italy fighting it out for second spot.

Pakhtakor are historically a superpower of Uzbek football but are in major decline this season, down in 5th place in the league and way off the pace set by city rivals Lokomotiv. A key problem for them has been their away form – they have scored just twice and taken only 3 points in 6 matches. Which says to me that Marathon have rather overestimated them at odds of 3/50 to win this one, even if it is against bottom of the league Obod. Looking at the two Euro U21 International games.
After a shaky start to the tournament Czech Republic have improved and I expect them to win against an eliminated Denmark team who have failed to score in their last 2 outings, and who may be low on confidence. Czech aren’t great at the back though so there’s always that threat if Denmark get a chance.
For the other game I expect Germany to step up and beat the Italians who will be disappointed with their last few performances after a great start. Germany haven’t been out of 2nd gear so far and I think they have a lot more to give and will step up.
