ELLIS will be back with some sporting tips for Friday – so how many will be risking their football winnings on his seelctions?

The snooker is still in full swing in China, tennis is building up nicely to Wimbledon and the draw will decide just how tough Andy Murray's route to the final will be.

In the golf some of Bruce Robertson's tips and going well and my Open choice Ernie Els hit nine under on Thursday in Munich so is looking good for Muirfield.

This is the place for all your sports tips and comments so come on.

    BET 1 £10 – £1,000 CHALLENGE (£10)

Welcome to the £10 to £1,000 challenge where we aim to turn £10 into £1,000, betting on ‘safe’ bets with short odds. I will be calling on the help of site users to try and get to our goal, so if anybody has a value bet for the next day, feel free to let me know. Theoretically, in 50 bets time we could be on £1,000 and I wonder if anyone would have the bottle to go further?

    If you start with £10 and bet just on 1/10 shots these are the returns (obviously we will bet on less than 1/10 shots and therefore it will take less than 49 bets);
    10 bets = £25.93
    20 bets = £67.25
    30 bets = £174.00
    40 bets = £452.23
    49 bets = £1,066.33
    50 bets = £1,172.97

    BET 1

SNOOKER – NEIL ROBERTSON TO BEAT CAO YUPENG 1/4

(BetVictor) – I have been heavily criticised for my snooker bets and I do not want it to be my Achilles heel for bet one. I will tell you now I also considered Stanislas Wawrinka to win (1/4) for anyone who wants an alternative, however, I prefer the look of this bet. Robertson is hot on form on the back of a final in his last tournament and his demolition of Mark King earlier today was an example of this, perfectly finding a compromise between superb potting, spectacular attacking play and good tactical play. He really is on top form and I expect him to easily get through this match. He plays a Chinese qualifier who has played ok in all fairness this tournament just getting past players such as Peter Ebdon, Ben Woolaston, Michael White and Barry Hawkins. However, I expect Robertson’s form, experience and need to get an early ranking tournament under his belt to get him through this game.

Good luck and let’s hope to get off to a winning start!

I’ll try a combination of what your good at ellis which is finding the games and my own strength which is the numbers behind it all. So here’s a go a your picks combined with a staking plan of mine :-)

      Robertson
      Odds: 1,25
      Stake: €10.00

      The Dane.

  2. Ellis 11 years ago

Mr F, are you joining in?

  3. Ruby 11 years ago

Il give it a go. Will go with Robertson for 2moro

  4. Ellis 11 years ago

Seems a great bet in terms of the challenge, lets see how far we can go, only a tenner

  5. Madi 11 years ago

Il give it a go also, using betfair

  6. Ellis 11 years ago

Right off to watch the football

***PLEASE NOTE ROBETSON STARTS AT 7:30 a.m***

IF YOU DONT WANT TO FOLLOW THE ADVICE AND CHOOSE WAWRINKA, WHICH I AM NOT CHOOSING AS MY BET

    ***WAWRINKA STARTS AT 1:30***

  7. Boogabear 11 years ago

Hiya Ellis, will you just carry in going and going and just see how far you can get with this initial £10. Because when u get up to that £1000 the profits daily off just a single bet would be amazing lol

  8. Madi 11 years ago

On Robertson, hoping to go far with this :)

  9. KP 11 years ago

is this the top secret thread you were eager to run by the big man ellis? a 1/4 shot to make a tenner into a grand? seriously how long were you working this out?i predict the tenner gone by the end of sunday at that rate as you will need something like a 15 fold to hit the target and we all know the bookies love accepting these bets, silly bet that no one who has the slightest inkling about betting systems would touch.
It honestly hasn’t a hope in hell so whats the point.

  10. KP 11 years ago

you wont get anywhere with it madi, the snooker tips have consistently failed all week and so will this, sorry but have to be honest its ridiculus. He’ll lose the tenner then tell you all to start again with yet another money on shot.

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

KP, it’s a bit of fun so chill out. I’ve seen it done and if you’re taking short prices every time you have a chance although it could take a while. I prefer the evens challenge when you double your money every time but there are two problems. 1. Getting your stake on if you go far and 2. Having the bottle not to withdraw.

  11. jasper 11 years ago

    Eh, robertson 1/4.
    Brave call.
Dont mean to be picky, but unless its at least a treble, whats the point at those odds.

  12. Philardino 11 years ago

Novak 13/8 Outright for Wimbledon, with money back offer if Murray wins. Paddy Power max bet£100

  13. Bigrob 11 years ago

Any good tips yet on this mornins footy?

  14. Boogabear 11 years ago

Jasper, the odds are pretty low. And maybe there is not much point with such a low stake, but as you get further along the line with the bets and have larger pot and stake then the returns will grow, and will obviously be worth it on a daily basis if the idea behind the plan pays off

  15. Evo21 11 years ago

I’m up for it, lets see how high we can get

  16. Dazz 11 years ago

Just got on Robertson ,hopefully it will be a good start.
    Good luck all.

  17. Boogabear 11 years ago

I’m on it too, and I think with proper research and careful selection it could go far and get quite high. No one is being forced to have a crack at it, KP there is no point in putting comments up like that.

  18. Craig alves 11 years ago

tried it a few times, every man and his dog doing it on facebook and twitter, i just don’t have the patients. should do get greg sly and BP to do an over 0.5 ht gl treble each day, 1 game each and see how far they get. not for me me Elvis but good luck anyway :)

  19. Malisha 11 years ago

  21. Ellis 11 years ago

Can’t tell whether KP is a nick name or a KP nut is his head size. KP is you don’t like it I would advise you to stay away

  22. Flyboivince 11 years ago

Canterbury bulldogs to make 1st try

  23. ellis 11 years ago

Anyone taking part in the challenge shall I do it daily or if Robertson wins put bet 2 for this afternoon

  24. Boogabear 11 years ago

I think you should just do it when u can find a bet that you are pretty certain about, and if you can find more than one a day then great. But I don’t think you should just go with one just for the sake of doing another. I have faith in you anyway Ellis :)

  25. ellis 11 years ago

Boogabear did you get on Robertson on time

  26. Madi 11 years ago

I hear ya kp, I have seen this challenge done tho (albeit rarely) as Craig says its all over Facebook/twitter. Just guna give it this one shot and if it loses then I won’t bother trying again. Ellis you can do a pick for this afternoon if ya like, just make it a winning one!

  27. Boogabear 11 years ago

I think you should just go with the bets that you are pretty sure about mate. Daily would be good, if you can find more than one a day then that would be great lol but I don’t think you should go with a bet just for the sake of doing another if that makes sense? But I have faith in you anyway Ellis :)

  28. Boogabear 11 years ago

I got on Robertson in time mate, placed the bet at 5am this morning when I arrived at work

  29. ellis 11 years ago

    Need Robertson to win first!!!
Thinking Stanislas Wawrinka though at 2/7

    Robertson looks heading to 3-3

  30. Madi 11 years ago

Yh I think you should stay away from snooker for this lol

  31. ellis 11 years ago

Haha I agree, how the Chinese bloke is sustaining this I don’t know

  32. ellis 11 years ago

Did you see that miss on the black to go 4-2 up???

  33. Dazz 11 years ago

I think if second bet in a day is maybe football bet with low odds maybe cover with DNB for safer option,I know odds will be a lot worse though.

  34. ellis 11 years ago

Looks like Robertson in serious trouble

  35. ellis 11 years ago

I’m going to get some stick for this. I’m going to do one without ever touching snooker again

  36. ellis 11 years ago

    Absolutely ridiculous

  37. Horsing Around 11 years ago

Nice try Ellis – not over yet but not looking good.

I’ve been doing these kind of bets for nearly a year now and never got pass bet 15 on other sites.

I’ll stick to what I think I know which is football.

  38. ellis 11 years ago

Might just do a daily tennis one. Not over yet 4-4 looks good.

  39. 1plus2 11 years ago

Keep the faith m8 look on the bright side it’s generating some input on the site so that’s a good thing overall it’s all about unity and participation.

  40. Madi 11 years ago

I’m out in this if this first one loses. I’m not one to dish out stick as I chose to put the bet on, wasn’t forced.

  41. ellis 11 years ago

This last frame decider can lose my £100 outright bet and the challenge

  42. ellis 11 years ago

Oneplustwo need to do some tennis instead

  43. Jack g 11 years ago

Bit of a down to the line one this!

In play odds suggest Robertson to take it though!

    See what happens!

  44. ellis 11 years ago

Robbo seems to be on the defence a bit too much here

  45. 1plus2 11 years ago

Another possibility is in play betting when you can see just what is occurring and then pick a 1/5 upwards at least that way you can see b4 hand just what the lay of the land is possibly.

  46. ellis 11 years ago

Scratchy bum time Robertson is in the balls

  47. Jack g 11 years ago

He’s off :) good luck haha!

  48. 1plus2 11 years ago

Game over m8 1 down 50 to go lol

  49. ellis 11 years ago

    Oh dear…

  50. Jack g 11 years ago

Uh oh 43 on his break :( not good!

  51. KP 11 years ago

Like i tried warning anyone following ellis tips, his record is very poor especially with snooker and the odds offer no value whatsoever and it looks like any of you following this have fell at the first hurdle a very poor 1/4 at that and now hes going to suggest you all start again on another going nowhere slowly no value tip.
Ellis you said last week that you had emailed mrfixit with an exciting new idea to take the site in a new direction and hoped he’d let you run it on this thread,is this the EXCITING NEW IDEA? throw your money away on 1/4 shots that hit the wall?
I said it was a long road to knowhere but the poorhouse ive been proven right.

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

KP, it looks like Robertson has won but how can this be a long road to the poor house when the total stake is a tenner. It’s a challenge for people to see how they go, that’s it and no one’s twisting anyone’s arm. I don’t see the point of your comments.

    • KP 11 years ago

Lets be honest this is a very long list accumulator he is doing, there is value in it at all with tips of 1/4 that nearly went at the first. When it has failed which will be within 1st 3 days hes going to suggest punters start again and again and again, this will never be a winner it always loses seen it tried many many times and 99.9% fails. He called it an exciting new idea to take the site in a new direction…….REALLY???Whats exciting about 1/4 tips?? nonsense bets and we all know it.

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

KP, as I’ve said it’s a bit of fun, no one said it was serious betting. Everyone knows it’s a challenge and something that people have been doing for a while. If you don’t fancy don’t do it but stop having a dig at Ellis.

  52. ellis 11 years ago

Chooooo chooooo. All aboard the £1000 train haha

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Ellis, it’s up to you when you put the next bet on. I’ll set up a post for this but I’d do one bet a day. My pick would be Spain in the Under-20 World Cup against USA. Just confirm to me what your pot is now and what price you backed Robertson at.

  53. Jack g 11 years ago

Robertson has won right haha? That was lucky :o!

  54. Madi 11 years ago

    Robertson won?!

  55. Jack g 11 years ago

Haha for the sake of a tenner this could be quite fun! Now up to 12.44 ;)!

  56. 1plus2 11 years ago

    Patience is a virtue !!!

  57. Horsing Around 11 years ago

Well done Ellis – off and running. Never in doubt…..haha.

  58. Madi 11 years ago

    Onto bet 2 lol

  59. ellis 11 years ago

Right im going to do one more bet so that mr f can get a thread going. What does everyone think oneplustwo in particular to Stanislaw wawrinka

    • 1plus2 11 years ago

The spaniard has a 20 win 18 loss on grass but never won a tournament on grass.

Wawrinka 10 wins and 16 losses also never won a title on grass

Plus Lopez has a career fedex index of .526 on grass while Wawrinka only has a .385 on grass.

Dunno if i would be totally confident in this at the moment.

    • Titou 11 years ago

Stanislas may well win but with those stats & @ 1.25 i dont see the value in it to be honest

    • Ellis 11 years ago

just remember mate I wont be going for value it will be between 1/3 and 1/14 shots to get to the £1000 is 50 bets, just doing a better priced to get the pot up slightly

    • Titou 11 years ago

Ok buddy that’s a fair point, i just think his odds should slightly higher atleast 1.50 in my opinion considering their head to head meetings is 3-2 at this moment in time

    • Titou 11 years ago

      3-2 Wawrinka **

    • Ellis 11 years ago

I think im going to go with it oneplustwo wawrinka is on form at the minute and he has comfortably got through all of his games

  60. ellis 11 years ago

    Mr F

    Bet 1 Neil Robertson 1/4. Pot £12.50

  61. ellis 11 years ago

    KP

I’m going to ignore you, you must have issues if you are that bothered about a tenner. Stay away from the page if you don’t like it

  62. Anon1254 11 years ago

Shhh! KP is the undercover name for a former tipster who used to be have his own page here, now turned sour.

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Anon1254, he’s not Milesey if that’s what you’re saying but I suspect he’s been on before as someone else. Only he or admin can answer that.

  63. ellis 11 years ago

I thought so… He never liked me

  64. ellis 11 years ago

Thinking about Stanislas Wawrinka — any thoughts?

  65. JP 11 years ago

Im going to get on board the £10 train sounds like fun, so the next bet i the bet will be £12.44? and should we win the total winnnings go on the next bet! and so on…..i think maybe we should stay away from snooker though

  66. ellis 11 years ago

KP , when I last longer than three days you can apologise

  67. ellis 11 years ago

Yes JP , we will see. My final one for today will be up in 15 mins. I think Mr F is doing a thread will be £12.50 on Stanislas Wawrinka 2/7 betvictor

  68. Titou 11 years ago

Im on giving this a try

Gilles Simon to Beat Andreas Seppi @ 1.72

  69. Ellis 11 years ago

    BET 2 £10 – £1,000 CHALLENGE (£12.50)

Tennis ATP Hertogenbosch — Stanislas Wawrinka vs G.Garcia-Lopez

Stanislas Wawrinka to win – 2/7

Stanislas Wawrinka is on top form at the minute, doing well on the clay court at the French open and I expect him to win his first grass title this week in Hertenbosch. He rips through the ball incredibly well and he should be full of confidence against a considerably lower ranked player in Garcia-lopez. Lopez has played well this tournament, however, he has not played anyone who I think is particularly good and I expect him to come up trumps against Lopez

    Good luck everyone

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

      Ellis, when does Wawrinka play?

  70. Ellis 11 years ago

    Mr F,,,

Bet 2 if you want a proper thread

  71. Ellis 11 years ago

  73. Denzildhinio 11 years ago

Missed out on the first bet of Robertson but reading the comments it sounded like it was touch and go for a while and went down to the wire. Sounds like a bit of fun so I’m in

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Denzildinho, it’s fun and that’s all it is. Hope KP takes note before he drives me nuts.

  74. Dazz 11 years ago

1 down ,49 to go.are we all on wawrinka.?

  75. Madi 11 years ago

Can’t find the tennis bet on betfair ?

    • jasper 11 years ago

i will be bald by the time this bet gets to a grand !

  76. Madi 11 years ago

    Found it and on it

  77. Cj 11 years ago

I thought this was a website for betting tips…?
Why is there hardly any comments on peoples selections but there’s at least 100 for a 10 pound pick best odds to make 1000. I’m pretty sure everybody’s tried it so why’s it on a betting tip website, do you have any actual bets worth peoples money and more importantly their time…?

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

cj, I put up tips then there are comments from people who visit the site. No one makes you read them if you don’t want to so just look at the articles.

  78. Madi 11 years ago

Have a look at mr fixits top tips thread, cj.

  79. Ellis 11 years ago

Have a look at mr fixits top tips thread, cj.

  80. Ellis 11 years ago

    CJ,

I will quite happily keep away from the site and keep my tips to myself, however, I like the majority of people on here and I want to share some fun ways to bet and tips with them, although the snooker wasn’t good, I did well at the French open, AEGON and my outright for the snooker is still in at 6/1 (those who criticise I have no value)

I use the site to share my expertise and not get stick, its boring

    • Patrick 11 years ago

Personally, I’m not a big fan of these challenges but I hope you guys make it all the way :D

What irritates me is that some people on here feel as if they are ‘entitled’ to winning tips like it is some kind of right.

We had The Enlightenment in the 17th and 18th centuries and now we have The Entitlement in the 21st century!

You either follow the tip or you don’t, simple as that. If the bet loses, be angry at the team/individual that lost not the tipster. All someone can do is do research and make a prediction, they have no control over anything else.

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

ellis, best to ignore snipers. People who don’t like comments shouldn’t read them. It’s that simple.

  81. Denzildhinio 11 years ago

Don’t know how anyone can see this as any more than a bit of fun. If you don’t like the look of it don’t join in. If you do get onboard, then pull out when ever you like.

    Simples

  82. Titou 11 years ago

… so that’s why you signed up ;)

  83. Dertanyan 11 years ago

    Seppi@2.00

I will just share my best of day bets for tennus from now. Cause I am in profit from tennis for a couple of years and has a good knowledge about this sport. I am better at Challanger tours but Atp and Wta also in my interest….GL mates….

    • Titou 11 years ago

@ Dertanyan can I ask why you’re feeling to take Seppi to beat Gilles Simon ?

  84. Cj 11 years ago

I’m looking for detailed opinions on peoples betting selections, none of which are on this site, just a few team names and ‘wee double for nice profit’ which Eventually loses

    • Titou 11 years ago

Cj not every one puts up detailed descriptions of their bets on here I find it quicker not to personally, if you like the look of someone’s tip why not research it your self & make a decision that way ? … just a thought

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Cj, do your own research then or sign up for a paid-for service. Myself and Bounty Hunter put up reasoning for our tips so read our articles and forget about the comments if that’s what you want to do. The comments come from punters whose contributions to the site are welcome and I don’t expect them all to spend time posting a detailed argument.

    • hank 11 years ago

CJ’s posts would probably define that of a b*llb*g right about now…

  85. JP 11 years ago

Ok im in, just put my tenner down on first bet of wawrinka to win. fingers crossed.

  86. Dertanyan 11 years ago

@titou it is simple for me… When grinder faces agresive baseliner I always trust 2nd one in grass court. Simon game is suitable for clay and slow hardcourt rather than grass. Seppi was out of form lately but he has waken up here. Harrison is a kind of player like Simon at some parts. Harrison defence is strong enough like Simon and if you look Simons 2nd serve point ratio at first 2 rounds against Edmund and Tomic you see stats are under 50 percent. If hits first serves with high percentage he has chance to win against Seppi but Simon is not a constant player in service department. I rate Seppi here as 1.75 and take him by 2.00…..

  87. furryhermann 11 years ago

Sometimes I can’t believe the nagging on here. It’s making us all money. Keep moaning and it will disappear. That means no money. Be quiet!

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

furryhermann, you’re spot on. The only moans should be at me or Bounty Hunter if we consistently get it wrong.

  88. Madi 11 years ago

    *punter!

  89. Dertanyan 11 years ago

Poor bet from mine about Seppi….

I have tie break yes/no bets for Wimbledon 1st round in my bookie with a juicy odds.

    Ferrer-Alund tie No
    Nadal-Darcis tie No
    Dodig-Kohli tie Yes
    Isner-Donskoy tie Yes
