SPAIN look a good shout to reign at the Under-21 Euro finals and their victory over Portugal landed my only bet of Tuesday.

The silky Spaniards won 3-1 so the both teams to score offered at 7-8 by 188bet trapped and well done all who also took a Spain success and btts at around 2-1.

The Confederations Cup kicks back into gear today with hosts Russia first up against Euro champs Portugal in Moscow. Russia have improved since their awful Euros performance last summer and are determined to put on a show for their fans ahead of hosting the World Cup next year.

Portugal – held 2-2 by Mexico in their opener after shipping a last-gasp equaliser – are even-money favourites at Paddy Power, with Russia 7-2 at Betfair.

The Portuguese could edge this one and I quite like the draw at 67-25 with Marathonbet but I'm swerving the W-D-W market and taking a stab at both to score which pays 19-20 at bet365.

The tournament has been pretty open so far and a passionate home crowd can help Russia get on the scoresheet against a Portugal defence that looked a tad shaky against the Mexicans. And the Portuguese frontline is of course easily capable of bagging a goal with Cristiano Ronaldo the main man.

In the later game, Mexico should cruise it against a New Zealand team who look out of their depth and were swatted aside by the Russians.

I'm taking Mexico -1 on the handicaps and adding wins for Italy and Germany at the Under-21 Euros which would see the big two qualify from Group C with a game to spare. Both won their opening match 2-0 and now swap opponents, with the Italians tackling the Czech Republic and the Germans facing Denmark.

One first half goal away from the full win, but don’t care one iota to be honest, just pleased to be getting a payout on a main bet after the dreadful run I’ve been on recently. Well done to yesterday’s winners.

The Philippines football league has been a goldmine for punters since it’s 2009 founding, with the largest of handicaps being covered nearly every gameweek.

Five matches into this campaign, and it’s clear the competition’s drive to enhance standards at the low-budget semi-professional clubs with plenty of financial backing will take some time to pay off, even if thrashings aren’t being thrown out as often.

The common gulf in ability between the top and bottom four is certainly still standing, making the two new sides worth opposing on their own turf at a enticing price.

Aguilas, v Loyola, and Ilocos United, v JP Voltes, are struggling to find their feet against the top dogs so far, with not a single point taken off the top half sides between them.

First placed Loyola and one behind Voltes are no strangers to the highest point of the PFL. They both look well on their way to firing up yet more mammoth goal difference tallies and will travel fancying their huge chances to pick up three points.

Used to back goals in this league some time ago. Worth bearing in mInd (unless it’s changed) that there are no home and away games. They are all played at the same ground. Makes the bet look even more solid.

    Any Danish guys here ?????.
We (the mighty Bangor city) are playing at lyngby next Thursday in the Europa league.
Just wondered what they are like standard wise and what the town is like.

Its expensive to get there, cheapest I’ve found is fly to Hamburg then train to Lego land..
Think phillwindy used to put Danish tips ???
Beer food etc looks dear as well so might take a bottle of meths for company.

We will probably get bashed up by 3 or 4 nil, but what the hell !!!!

    • john smith 7 years ago

Elvis, i’m no Danish expert but i do know Lyngby finished the season strongly To get the EL place ahead of sonderjyske and midtjylland who gave a good account of themselves against Man Utd in the CL 2 yrs ago and then dumped southampton out of the EL. I’d expect a tough game.

    • markus 7 years ago

      Dane here.

Lyngby used to be shit. Now is pretty alright.

Kongens Lyngby, itself, is just outside of Copenhagen. I haven’t gone drinking in Lyngby itself before, so it might be alright (population of about 50k), but it wouldn’t take you long to get to the big city (20-25 minutes by train: https://i.imgur.com/JrBhjS2.png)

      Source: https://www.rejseplanen.dk/webapp/index.html?language=en_EN

Whatever you do, and wherever you go, everything is expensive as shit. Be warned :)

    • bartley 7 years ago

      try easyjet to copenhagen
      easier than hamburg
might be a bit short notice to find a good flight price but worth a try

    • elvis parsley 7 years ago

      Cheers guys.
Been quoted £150 Hamburg by air, then train.
Won’t be staying long as its effin expensive.

    • philwindy 7 years ago

      @elvis-parsley

Lyngby are a tight outfit. They have surprised a lot of people this year but it is well deserved. I know nothing about Welsh football. But you will have a tough time getting a result in Lyngby in my opinion.

As for getting here Bristol to CPH is the best option. Although flights are limited and no doubt expensive now. Hamburg is easy enough to do via the train. It’s a 4 hour journey including a ferry crossing. It will be expensive no matter how you do it. Beer isn’t cheap, but Lyngby is a student town so there must be a bit of night life, starting from midnight anyway, not that I have tried it.

Afternoon gents – Confederation Cup action for me this evening…

MEXICO VS. NEW ZEALAND (1900 KO):

No such thing as a no-brainer in football but the Mexicans just have to much for the Kiwis and their gutsy performance against Portugal will no doubt have them chomping at the bit.

Mexico are an incredibly fit side and that may just tell more than anything in the second half as their technical and physical game piles to much on NZ.

    Three selections to consider:

    OVER 1.5 SHGS…4/5
    ???

    OVER 3.5 MEXICO TGS…2/1
    ?

HERNANDEZ BRACE…12/5 with 365 BUT Skybet have it boosted to a cracking looking 11/4
    ?

    Best of luck ?

    Russia v Portugal.
Portugal need to win and with Ronaldo on form they can win well. I don’t share the same optimism for a Russia goal and I actually think it could be a Portuguese demolition job.
    Russia 0-3 Portugal
    Main Bet: Portugal to win
    53/50, Marathon Bet

    Mexico v New Zealand.
Mexico will win. Previous H2H’s (2016, 2013, 2013) have resulted in a Mexico win and BTTS and unlike the reviews on here I actually fancy New Zealand to nick a goal. Chris Wood at 6ft 2 will fancy his chances from set pieces against a small Mexican team. Mexico will win by at least two goals but the -2 handicap might be slightly risky.
    Mexico 4-1 New Zealand
Main Bet: Mexico over 2.5 team goals
    4/5, Various
    Smaller stakes:
    Mexico to win and BTTS
    3/1, Various
    Long shot:
Chris Wood to score a header
    22/1, SkyBet

    Cameroon v Australia.
Agree with the predictions on this one. BTTS and over 2.5 goals looks an absolute shoe in. At 13/10 it offers some decent value and I don’t think you need to go looking elsewhere for a better bet.
    Cameroon 2-2 Australia
Main Bet: BTTS and over 2.5 goals
    13/10, Coral

    Germany v Chile.
I agreed that the value in this competition was with Chile and I couldn’t see anything else other than a Chile/Portugal final which I managed to get at 9/1 pre tournament. This game might turn out to be a bit of a disappointment. Cameroon and Australia play before this one and should that end in a draw then both of these teams will quite happily settle for a point, which bar a miracle in the last games will see both qualify for the semi-final.
    Germany 1-1 Chile
    Main Bet: Draw
    27/10

    Good afternoon gents!

With the Confedrations Cup, Euro U21 and African Champions League coming up late today, there are a few decent games to select from. Mexico will obviously prove too strong for the Kiwis, however the Kiwis have managed to nick 4 goals against the Mexicans in their previous 3 meetings; ending 2-1, 4-2 and 5-1 respectively. With Chris Woods spear-heading the Kiwi’s attack, I see them getting at least 1 goal.

Mexico Vs New Zealand – Mexico & Btts
    3.05

We already knpw how strong the Germans are and I don’t see the Danish side posing any real threat.

    Germany U21 Vs Denmark U21 – Germany U21 to win @1.40

Finally Esperance of Tunisia and Al Ahly Tripoli will prove too strong for Mamelodi Sundowns and Caps United both away in the African Champions League. A win for Esperance will see them 1 point short of qualification to the knock out stage. While victory for Al Ahly Tripoly in the other game will see them lead their group with 2 games to go.

Esperance Tunis Vs Mamelodi Sundowns – Esperance to win @1.36
Al Ahly Tripoli Vs Caps United – Al Ahly to win @1.33

    Total – 7.72

    Good luck gents.

    Night Owl…

CARACAS VS. DEPORTIVO LA GUAIRA (22.00 KO):

Funny old league is the Venezuelan top-flight but, despite dect prices, certain teams rarely disappoint for goals – both sides here fit that criterion and have seen 3 or more match goals in 7 of their last 9 games.

This one saw a 2-1 away scoreline in favour of Caracas (the marginally better side) 4 days ago and on home soil, they have the potential to add to that deficit and hit La Guaira as they seek the goal they need and may just get.

Risky bet to close the day
CA Temperley vs Defensa y Justicia
bookies are a bit underestimating the capability of the host here.
    They won past three games and am for them to make it four but my first pick will be;
    BTTS @1.90
    home team dnb above evens
Braver punt will be Home win @ 3.
Extremely risky one shall be home and btts @ 6+

Theres a decent value bet I quite like later on the MLS action but defo waiting upon team lineups first, not having a repeat of this again.

Atlanta aren’t as clinical on the road but are still a very good side in their early MLS career. They failed to net in Chicago but dominated possession and had plenty of efforts at goal. They’ve scored in 13 of their 15 MLS games this season and face a side in dire form and missing their main man.

    MLS – 12:30AM

    Atlanta United 1st Half Goal @ 19/20 @ Ladbrokes – 4 points

Was just looking at that myself, well worth opening a Betstars account up mate coz they consistently have the best price on this market.

Logged to see if anyone was on the MLS tonight, will have a look this now for any value.
All of Atlanta big guns should start tonight and they love a goal or two or three

Im looking into a sytem where a team has been productive or not in turning corners into goals. Using the proportion of corners formula.

    Proportion of corners = 0.1818+(0.6365*P)

so if a game is expected to have 3 goals in it and the favorite should score 2 of those goals, or 0.66 in proportion, that team should win 60 percent of corners awarded throughout the game.

I will be using the last 5 games per team and will be testing the results

    • HullShaker 7 years ago

Evening david – if that is to work then surely you’d need there to be a direct and consistent corellation between corners awarded and goals scored per team which there isn’t?

      Unless I’ve misinterpreted it?

      Good luck though

    • david h 7 years ago

im not very good at explaining hull.

Great betting as always my man

    • HullShaker 7 years ago

No worries David – hard to explain stuff in words on internet I agree! Wasn’t being cynical – just trying to get my head around it – best of luck and will keep an eye out pal ?

Two Icelandic 4 Dield games kicking off at 2100…

Both IH and Auganblik are comfortable favourites who’ve hit a few in recent games…opposition for the former are the bottom side Ellidir (who can’t defend) and SR for the latter who can’t win but should contribute to the goals count!

    Hi everyone,

I used to post corners tips on here a while back. Looking to get back into the swing of it again.

Olimpo B Blanca v Boca Juniors (Argentina, 23:45)

    Over 9.5 Asian Corners

    1.875 (Bet365)

Olimpo home matches average over 12 corners this season, with each of their last 8 seeing at least 10. Boca away matches unfortunately do not see as many corners, however I generally prefer to focus on the home team as factors such as style of play and the width of the pitch could be contributing heavily.

    • HullShaker 7 years ago

      Ey up there DT ?

    • kyle b 7 years ago

Aye, we remember the CornerMaster! Good luck as always!
