IT was a new German generation but the same old efficiency as the world champs kicked off their Confederations Cup campaign with a win that thankfully had plenty of goals.
I backed Germany to beat Australia and both to score at 21-10 and it banked with a 3-2 win for Joachim Low's men who played pretty much as expected – dynamic going forward and dodgy at the back.
On to today's action and with the Confederations Cup taking an early breather the focus is on the Under-21 Euro Championships.
First up it's Serbia taking on Macedonia with both sides having lost their Group B opener. Then there's two Euro heavyweights going head to head with Portugal facing Spain.
The Spanish – champions in two of the last three Euro Championships – are overflowing with top-class talent who showed their quality with a 5-0 drubbing of Macedonia and they're 5-6 at Skybet to make it two wins from two.

Know what you mean Old Al – for some folk, it may seem like clutching at straws but for others, the summer Nordic/overseas leagues (including the women’s) are bread and butter stuff and can often outweigh the obvious stuff like EPL which is a complete b*stard to bet on at times.
As long as stakes are low and enough research done, I’ve no qualms although my picks this last week have hardly been a great advertisement!
Said the other day, folk who’ve not been on here long are quick to comment on what may be ‘new or unorthodox’ to them but perhaps don’t know that there are some who’ve been following these ‘sad’ leagues for years, spending a lot of time getting to know them and doing quite nicely thank you very much.

Been on here since I was young Al and I didn’t take offence. One of the beauties of the site is people drawing your attention to leagues and game you wouldn’t consider plus a bit of local knowledge is always the edge. I feel that purly stat base punts are fraught with danger, however like you say you do get a feel for a league. I do put stuff up and it’s been well researched but my hit rate is pretty poor ( one in three – but the one is usually a cracker!).
