REIGNING champ Maria Sharapova is Russian offski from Roland Garros and Serena Williams was almost following her to the exit before fighting back to beat Sloane Stephens.

Sharapova lost in straight sets to the impressive Lucie Safarova who is now in to 10-1 for the French Open title at the likes of bet365 and Skybet after being as big as 200 a couple of weeks ago.

Williams is now just 4-6 at Titanbet for glory while the joint second favourite, Garbine Muguruza (she and Ana Ivanovic are 8-1 at Paddy Power) faces Safarova today with both players available at evens to make the semi-finals.

There's also two smashing men's quarter-finals today with Kei Nishikori the 31-100 favourite in his battle with Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, a 14-5 shot at Stan James.

And Roger Federer is 4-9 at BetVictor to get the better of his Swiss Davis Cup team-mate Stan Wawrinka (21-10, Boylepsports).

In the cricket England have the rain to thank for giving them a fighting chance of salvaging a draw heading into the final day of the second Test against New Zealand at Headingley.

The hosts are a whopping 45-1 at Paddy Power to chase down the 455 needed for victory while the Black Caps are 9-4 at 888sport to bowl them out and the draw is 2-5 at bet365.

Elsewhere there's the likes of rugby and baseball if you fancy a bet so post your sporting tips and chat here and good luck with your bets.

Isle of Man TT Senior Race Winner

    Michael Dunlop @ 15/8 @ PP

Bar a horrendous crash I think this is a great bet. Smashed the class record last year and looks to be the man that’ll be writing the TT history books in place of John McGuinness for years to come.

He’s the favourite for most of the races and should be as nobody got near him last year in all 1000cc races. Smallest margin was 14 seconds which some of you will know is massive in racing terms. The senior race is the main one I’m on but I’ll have smaller stakes on the other two 1000cc races.

If I placed an in-shop bet on the Blue Jays & Twins game that were called off, will the betting slip be void?

  5. Dazid316 9 years ago

@ tomekplnd I don’t know about how it works for in-shop as I only bet online, my slip is still open not void, I’m just a assuming it will be voided. I know the twins game will be on Wednesday in the afternoon then they are playing the original game for that evening after it but they might change the starting pitchers around so I hope its void, haven’t seen a new date for Blue Jays game.

    • Dazid316 9 years ago

Toronto Blue Jays @ Washington Nationals game has been rescheduled for Tuesday, June 2 afternoon start before they play they evening game, probably find out in the morning if its voided or not on my account.

  6. Jordan 9 years ago

Tom if the games are postponed then they should void it. Just go in tomorrow and check but there’s no way that your bet has lost if the matches haven’t been played.

Mine has been voided now @ Tom.

  11. Marco 9 years ago

Dazzler I would stay clear of that bet mate, there’s an upset in there somewhere, plus, I’d never back against Nadal on clay regardless of form, injuries etc

  12. Jaseos 9 years ago

After 2 of my picks got postponed, I started to think the worst but my Braves single came in and 1/2 of my double did too (the part that wasn’t cancelled) so altogether just shy of 1.5 units profit last night… finally!

That is now 3.5/10 for this last period, meaning if I can hit 2 of the next 3, I can be at pretty much break even after a terrible start to this 13 game period.

Dazzler – By my calculations, you have hit 9/10 on the rolling bet. If we assume that average odds are around 1.38-ish that is the bookies giving you roughly 72% chance per bet (not including margins!). Your selections are showing a 90% strike rate and although the sample size is small, that is mighty impressive mate!

  13. Dazzler 9 years ago

Marco is that the only game you think could end under 3.5? Because I think I could probably get a cover on it.

Jaseos that’s right 9/10 on the rolling bet but also I was doing the experimental double which was 5/7(14 picks and 2 wrong). So all together I’m 21/24 on that market. Maybe I should go back to the experimental double?

  14. SN 9 years ago

Tsonga to win a set 1/2
Ferrer to win a set 1/3

    Double 1/1

Long shot for the quarter finals

    Tsonga 11/4
    Federer 2/5
    Ferrer 7/4
    Nadal 5/2
    Safarova 1/1

    5fold 103/1

  16. Jaseos 9 years ago

Dazzler – If you can keep ahead of the bookies with your selection ability, doubles are the way forward in terms of returns on investment BUT it would require the same amount of actual selections as singles for slightly less money.

Let’s say your strike rate levels out at around 85% (still well above what the bookies want you to be), at an average @1.38 a bet. Per 20 picks, £10 staked on each, that is a profit of £34.60 – ROI is 17.3%

However, if you put those 20 picks into 10 doubles and assumed that the incorrect picks were in different bets, so 7 winners at odds of say @1.90. That would be profit of £33 – ROI is 33%

  17. Dazzler 9 years ago

Jaseos as you say I don’t think singles are the way to go and that’s why I think the rolling bet is worth a tenner.

I think I’ll focus on a double a day and the rolling bet, see how that turns out for the next week or so.

  18. Jaseos 9 years ago

If my maths is correct, at your current pace of 87.5% you will have a 39.27% chance of completing a challenge – Better than 1 in 3! However if that drops slightly to 80% it is a 21% chance… Still profit though!

  19. Dazzler 9 years ago

    Braves @ D’backs
Team to score first wins @ 1.41
    Pirates @ Giants
Team to score first wins @ 1.37

    Double @ 1.94

    White Sox @ Rangers
    Rangers over 8.5 hits @ 1.83
Samardzija loves giving up hits, especially on the road.

    Rolling bet (round 3)
    Bet 2
    Braves @ D’backs
Team to score first wins @ 1.41

    • ticketyboo 9 years ago

Hy Dazzler interested in your picks but how does “Team to score 1st wins” work?

    • Jordan 9 years ago

Tickety the team who scores the first run has to win the game.

  20. thereddevils 9 years ago

If your strike rate levels drop to 75%, then you’re not making profit with the doubles Jaseos. It only works if your strike rate is high enough. If you want less risk then singles are the way to go…

I can’t see Nishikori losing today, guys. But good luck anyway. I have some money on him to win in 3 sets, it is possible!

  21. thereddevils 9 years ago

What I want to say is, you can have a good value bet single @1.60 and then add a single bet of 1.20 which ruins the double. So just invest in good value bet singles IMO.

  22. Jaseos 9 years ago

Thereddevils – That is true, at that win%, you would most likely lose out in the long run on doubles but you also making very little on singles, to the point where it isn’t really worth it.

The key is the keep that edge on the bookies and get a s/r above 80% or don’t bother.

  23. Ad 9 years ago

Dazzler- I think all 4 quarters are quite likely to go over 3.5 sets. That price is worth a tenner of my money but whether it’s worth a tenner of yours I can’t say! im struggling to picture any of the eight players handing out a 3-0 beat down but we will see.

  24. Jaseos 9 years ago

Anyway, on to today’s baseball and why all the games with no odds up yet? There’s loads. I’m going to struggle to get time to pick today at this rate, which is a pity because I was hoping for a good day and the outsiders that are available, don’t look too appealing.

  25. Ad 9 years ago

Have just placed a small stakes double on Fed/Novak both to win their quarter finals 3-1. This pays around 12/1.

  26. Felix 9 years ago

Yeah, can see them all going 3.5 and I’ll be on that. Hoping Stan shows up this time.

  27. Ad 9 years ago

Please do consider the above a tip, though it’s clearly one for low stakes and with a fairly decent chance of losing! I think 3-1 to the favourite is the likeliest result in both matches and 12/1 is enough to get me onboard.

  28. Shashu 9 years ago

Thoughts on tsonga today ad? Worth a bet at that price?

  29. Ad 9 years ago

A quick update on my outright tips ahead of the quarter finals:

    Women’s:
Serena @ 11/4 – set to play Errani in the 1/4 finals and now priced @4/6
Stosur @ 100/1 – knocked out by Maria in the 3rd round
Bacsinszky @ 150/1 – set to play Van Uytvanck in the 1/4 finals and now priced @ 14/1
Pliskova @ 150/1 – dumped out by Mitu in round 2.

    Men’s:
Federer @15/1 – set to play Stan in the 1/4 finals. Now priced at 11/1.
Nishikori @ 15/1 set to play Jo in the 1/4 finals. Now priced at 11-1.
Monfils @ 70/1- sent packing my Federer in the 4th round.
Tsonga @ 220/1 – set to play Kei in the 1/4 finals. No priced at 60/1.
Kyrgios @ 315/1- taken out by Murray in the 3rd round.

Not going too badly then, with 2 of 4 women still alive and Bacsinszky and Serena big favourites to make the semi finals.
Three men of five still alive but at least one will be going home today as Jo and Kei go head to head. But going into the quarter finals with a 220/1 shot, a 150/1 shot, two 15/1s and an 11/4 favourite isn’t too shabby. Could all be in tatters by the end of the day, but fingers crossed for some luck!

  30. nightowl 9 years ago

England have had a wobbly morning session and are 88/4. Stokes and Cook are looking fairly settled now however, and with some rain scheduled for this afternoon, I’m backing the draw at 13/8. If they can stay in until lunch I expect this price to fall!

Keep an eye on the weather in the tennis. Nadal will be hoping for hot and sunny. Think it’s a fair bit easier for novak if it’s overcast.

  32. Dazzler 9 years ago

Ad with very little meaningful football around I think it’s worth a tenner.

Jaseos only thing I can think of is if the bookies are holding out to see what the weather is gonna do?

  33. punterpounder 9 years ago

ivanovic is hot both in form and to look at :)

  34. Ad 9 years ago

Marco- 2-0 ivanovic is looking like a good call, well done (without wanting to jinx it!)
Overs in Safarova v Muguruza would have made more sense that 3 sets though would it not, at a similar price?

  35. Felix 9 years ago

Ivanovic just too strong for svitolina. Svitolina had the same problem with Venus. Can’t generate as much power and really telling on a windy day.

  36. The Raider 9 years ago

Just back from the French Open and I have to say I think Rafa is worth a couple of pennies tomorrow. He is a different beast on Chatrier and I feel the price is too good to ignore. He is working his way into the tournament and is regaining some of his confidence. Novak looked a little flat against Thanasi and despite the scoreline Gasquet did have chances to break. Watching Novak warm up on both days he seems to still be a little concerned about the niggle he picked up in the second round.

    Nadal 3-2, 9-1 888sport (low stake)
Nadal to win, 12-5 William Hill
Nadal to win the tournament – 4/1 Various (if Rafa does beat Nole you’d struggle to see him not winning the tournament)

  37. punterpounder 9 years ago

safarova has to be the surprise package of the tournament these types of performances will put her rankings up for sure

  39. thereddevils 9 years ago

    What a bad start indeed.

  40. Dazzler 9 years ago

Ticketyboo I’m basically betting that the first team to score a run wins. Only available at bet365 as far as I know. You get the choice of yes or no and all my selections are YES (which you’d be able to tell from the odds anyway).

Historically over 66% of all MLB games end with the first team that scores winning. At the moment I’m finding a lot of days are turning out +75% of games end this way.

I did £10 to £100 rolling bet last week (if you click on my name and have a look at the blog it’s all there) but I don’t think that’s going to be sustainable.

Still trying to work out the best way to stake though.

    • ticketyboo 9 years ago

  62. Dazzler 9 years ago

    • ticketyboo 9 years ago

Dazzler I have looked at your blog before but I will have another look to see if I can get the rudiments of the game thru my thick skull.I have just got the hang of the NBA when it’s ending.Cheers and good luck mate.

Wasn’t expecting Federer to have it all his own way, but certainly wasn’t expecting the overs 4-fold to get beaten by HIM failing to get a set. Im hoping Tsonga can use his extra power to hit through the wind and pin Nishi back like Stan did to Rog. Had a little in play on the Frenchman.

  68. Felix 9 years ago

The ball was moving allover the place. Horrible conditions for Fed.

    • Mr Fixit 9 years ago

Felix, I watched a bit of it – horrible conditions for both. Stan handled it better but Fed didn’t look himself.

  69. Dazzler 9 years ago

Ticketyboo it’s pretty simple once you start watching it. There’s a lot of technical points and different stats but it’s probably best to just watch a few games.

  84. Dazzler 9 years ago

Ado I wouldn’t be backing Blue Jays in game 2 after watching game 1. Dickey should have been smacked around but Nationals offence couldn’t convert. Blue Jays offence was awful.

Rays @ Angels is 50/50 for me. I like Acher but not Rays offence is inconsistent and weather they provide the run support required is up for debate, the price is a bit low @ 1.86 for the risk.

Indians @ Royals as long as both teams bring their bats there should at least be 8 runs, which would be a push. It wouldn’t surprise me if there was double figures in this one.

  85. Jordan 9 years ago

That wouldn’t happen to be a Lithuania team would it Picksix?

it is mate , I’m with you on that one seems like forever since my last NBA bet lol

Depends what you can get and what you’d like to see Jordan.

Personally I think the most interesting game for me will be –
Dodgers game 2, to watch Grenkie, Rockies could take game 1 but Rockies still trying to recover their rotation from the epic 17 innings game from 2 nights ago.

A brake down of a few others depending on what you might want to see.

Indians @ Royals should see runs.

White Sox @ Rangers should have runs too.

Rays @ Angels should be a coin toss.

A’s @ Tigers should be close

Pirates @ Giants should be team to score first wins

murray, joker and basinsky for 1.45/1 seems decent

think murray is the weakest pick tbh, nadal has started to look his old self as well..

    thoughts ?

I’ll stream it mate so I can watch whatever game is on. Just didn’t know if it was like football or NBA etc when you have two teams that you know will produce a good game for spectators.

  93. mlac 9 years ago

    ^scrap that this looks better.

    zalgaris -5 (picksx)
    basingszky
    villareal dc

    evens.

  94. Jordan 9 years ago

Picksix I thought so as I had had a few bets on the Zalgaris football team recently. If they’re anything like the football team then it should be a good bet but one I won’t be on but good luck mate.

I hate saying this but as each day goes by I’m getting less and less certain on the Warriors winning hahaha

  95. Dazzler 9 years ago

If you’re new to the game you’d probably like to watch runs, so Indians @ Royals or White Sox @ Rangers will most likely see some action.

    Cheers mate.

Cubs @ Marlins is on bt sport 2
Blue Jays @ Nationals on Sportsnet
MLB TV game of the day Reds @ Phillies

    All three start around midnight.

All games available on bet365 if you have a funded account or have placed a bet within 24 hours, not the best way to watch though

Dazzler I have my own illegal means of watching any sporting event I want but thanks mate.

Andy- thanks mate. And I think you could be on to something with fognini/bolelli. They are world class on their day and the surface obviously gives them a slightly better chance than a faster court would. Might have a wee go on that.

Where’s your confidence gone buddy? Haha

Tbh I’m not as confident as its drawing nearer too but fingers crossed they pull through

  101. Dazzler 9 years ago

Sounds interesting Jordan. Give us a clue, I’m looking for something a bit more reliable.

Google chrome browser, an extension called Adblock and a website called first row sports.

Picksix sorry mate it’s that gut of mine haha

And I think Mr f could be right about over 3.5 in both quarters being the way to go. Ferrer beat Murray relatively easily the last time they met here so should be competitive if not victorious. If Novak starts really fast it’s possible hell brush Rafa aside in 3, but I think 4 of 5 is more likely. Rafa can’t be underestimated at Rolland Garros but I find t very hard though tell just how good he’s going to be on the day.. hopefully we’re in for a couple of long, high quality crackers

  104. Dazzler 9 years ago

I’ll have a look in to that then, cheers.
