JUNE 13: JOHNB’S RACING TIPS AND CHAT

Racing_Betfred

AFTER a terrific Thursday it was a 3pts loss on Friday with Johnb out of luck.

Our top tipster will continue to flag up the horses he think provide value for money and he’ll be the toast of the site if his NB lands on Friday at 25-1. At the price if you like it consider doing it each way.

The double is advised at low stakes and if that comes up I want to see 100 well wishers on to bow down to the great man.

Johnb’s Saturdays Tip

Sandown 1.45
Pensax Boy 25-1 NB Bet365, Coral, Skybet

4.05
Classic Win 5-2 NAP Skybet, BetVictor

York 3.45
Scalzo 4-1 Betfred (also advised antepost)

Double
Pensax Boy & Classic Win 90-1 Skybet, BetVictor

Pensax Boy (NB)

Placed on all three runs this season we have a handicapper on form but going back to last season I liked the run at Newbury behind Elm Park, the horse that was top rated 2yo last year.
That run was on soft which Pensax Boy handled well enough but it suited Elm Park more, Pensax Boy was never going to be the horse Elm Park is but was always going to be a good handicapper.
Moving on to this season Pensax Boy has improved with every run and his latest run at Windsor was better than the result as he was denied a run at a crucial stage.
This step up in distance at Sandown is guaranteed to suit Pensax Boy along with the course itself, Sandown is a galloping track with an uphill finish from the home bend which makes it a stayer’s track and on breeding with the sire, it screams out that Pensax Boy will love a stiff track.

Just want to remind people I preach level Stakes which means all three singles and the double are advised at leval Stakes but really its upto the individual

    Scalzo
Made a mockery of his handicap mark last time out winning by 7 lengths at Haydock when on a mark of 77.
The handicapper has since raised him a massive 18lb.
A lot of people will say 18lb is a lot and probably too much and it is a lot but it’s probably not enough. This colt is by Paco Boy and out of a half sister to Ouija Board and he looks a nailed on group horse and after just three runs I think he is ready for a group race already.
“Which means if he is good enough to be a group horse just now then that means he is still at least 10lb ahead of the handicapper.
“Trained by Martyn Meade he could easily have gone to Royal Ascot next week but instead goes for the although big field it’s the easier option at York on Saturday.”

My personal view is that Scalzo is a group one winner in waiting

I picked out 5 horses last night, ranging from 11/8 to 10/3, so nothing of each way value. The 1 I liked most is now a non runner, double silver. My second best pick has shortened a fair bit in the betting –

3.50 Rembrandt van Rijn 7/2 into 2/1 WON SP 2/1

    My other 3 are
    2.50 Dry ol’party 19/10 LOST
    3.30 Celtic Intrigue 13/8 WON SP 9/4
    6.00 Scottish Glen 10/3 WON SP 5/1

1 more from me for today. Not as strong as those I tipped earlier, but one I fancy now, especially given the non runners in the race.
    9.10 Medburn Cutler 15/8 WON SP 10/11

4 from 5 for me today. Really chuffed with that. Shame tomorrow is Saturday. Small stakes if any I reckon!

Well done all winners today. None better than the monster 25/1 winning NAP put up by Garfo! Can anyone better that tomorrow? Maybe John will equal it. Let’s hope so. Have a good night guys

Nick done a write up for Able Friend on the antipost thread but I will put it up here
Only got Cannock Chase to do now

  7. johnb 2 years ago

2:30pm on Tuesday 16 June its Able Friend v Solow
with Night of Thunder, Toormore, Arod , Cable Bay and others on the bench
Is it a two horse race?
Able Friend and Solow are the two superstars in the race with sectionals that say yes it is a two horse race

Punter in the uk are just not getting into sectionals, they are a weapon for us punters as they give us so much valuable information
The sectionals tell me that Solow needs to make sure the Queen Anne Stakes is run at a fast pace, a pace that will allow him to take advantage of his stamina
Solow has won at one mile but nine furlongs is his prefered distance which is why he has to make this a stamina test,
But even that might not be good enough against the best miler in the world.

Able Friend is the best miler and he has predominantly been kept at his best distance, one mile is HIS DISTANCE and he is out to prove that at Ascot
his sectionals for the last two furlongs is a second quicker than Solow.
There are doubts about the straight course at Ascot as he is used to the bends of Sha Tin where all his wins have come
Able Friends trainer and jockey have no doubts that he will be fine on the straight track,
For myself I also believe that the straight track will be ok because if there was the slightest doubt then connection would have gone for the Sussex Stakes at Goodwood.
His last run at Sha Tin was won on the bridle, jockey Jaoa Moreira just sat motionless as Able Friend ate up the ground to win as comfortably as is possible,
Yes he was expected to win but to do it in the style he did just blew everyone away.
Able Friend has been described as a monster, an absolute freak and the best his trainer and jockey have had and when you see him at Ascot you will see a monster and he is ready to be unleashed.

Connections have said the only worry was the traveling, well that was put to bed as he traveled well and has impressed everyone at Michael Bells yard

At Royal Ascot the BEAST WILL BE UNLEASED

Nick still got a chance but these Lady amateur races can be dodgy but Alan Swinbank has got a decent jockey on who has won 5 of her last 6 races and the other race she was beat a short head when just got caught on the line although they were NHF races riding for her father Aiden O’Brien and most were J P McManus horses
But I did think it was interesting that Alan Swinbank had brought Sarah O’Brien over from ireland

All those 5 wins have been in the last 15 days

  15. J-Rich 2 years ago

    NAP – Scalzo 3.45pm York

    NB – Red Baron – 3.45pm Musselburgh

    Spare change bet:

    Likely – 2.55pm Sandown

  16. Scuzzle 2 years ago

Not posted for a while, had a stinking run so gave up but in better form recently.

I fancy an each way double on Red Baron in the 3.25 Musselburgh currently 5/1 stats read 11212 and the 2.00 York Pearl Castle also 5/1, ladies amateur rider with Serena Brotherton on last years winner up 5 lbs and can defy this and take the race again.
I think both horses will deffo make the frame.

Hate days when there are so many meetings. I’ve gone through them all, and my not so shortlist contains 13 selections! Obviously this is far too many, and if backing them all, likely to prove a fast ticket to the poor house. Saturdays so often tend to promise so much, but provide so little.
I’ve backed John’s 3 in singles, and small each way trixie. Not sure if I’ll back any of mine as yet. Will scroll through comments seeing if anyone else has highlighted the same horses and take it from there.
good luck all today, and remain sensible

Pensax Boy on that evidence is definitely worth another go, you could see Donohoe wanting to Stoke him up turning in 3.5 furlongs out but was in a pocket and never really got going till two furlongs out which isn’t Pensax Boy’s way because he isn’t a speed horse,

It’s not an excuse its just the way I saw it and we will get wins from that horse

Slowly away and at the business end of the race he didn’t get a clear run and he would have been closer to his stablemate Monsieur Joe if things had gone his way better
Line of Reason is now 6lb better with Monsieur Joe which is about 2 lengths maybe a little more, so with that and the fact he got a bad run last time that would reverse the last result
Also Joseph O’Brien is on Monsieur Joe this time so that’s classed as a jockey negative

    Scalzo

Paul Hannigan did say he didn’t go on the ground and he did play up before the race but the trainer also tweeted after the race.

Meade later tweeted a further possible explanation for Scalzo’s effort.

He said: “Scalzo has been found to be lame near hind following his disappointing run and further investigation will take place when he returns home.”

As for myself i could see he wasn’t right his action looked terrible, unbalanced and just not going
At the minute I wouldn’t blame the ground but we should know more in a few days
