SCOTLAND can win the World Cup. Nope, I've not been on the bevvy, the Darts World Cup gets under way on Thursday night and the second-seed Scots have high hopes of glory.

Much like the football team though their recent record at this event is rotten – losing to arras minnows Spain (twice), South Africa and Northern Ireland in the last four campaigns.

This time the pairing hoping to do the Dartan Army proud are world and Premier League champ Gary Anderson and Peter Wright. They begin against Singapore on Friday and are third favourites for the title at 7-2 with BetVictor, Sportingbet and Coral.

Reigning champs Holland's deadly duo of Michael van Gerwen and Raymond van Barneveld are favourites (15-8, Stan James) to make it two in a row and begin their defence against USA on Friday.

Thursday matches include top seeds England – Phil Taylor and Adrian Lewis, who won the event in 2012 and 2013 – against Denmark and Australia's Simon Whitlock and Paul Nicholson versus Russia.

Let's hear your tips for the oche showpiece as well as the rest of Thursday's sporting action which includes tennis, cycling and Test cricket.

Too busy to have given this week’s tennis much thoUght, but I’m going to place low stakes on Baghdatis to beat Rafa and to beat him 2-0 @ 15/2.

Even when rafas been in much better form heading into the grass court season in the recent years, off the back of French open titles, he’s really struggled to adjust to the surface. This is his worst ever form so I think worth backing him to fall short again today. Confidence must be low

  5. thereddevils 9 years ago

Cobramint, he can win it, but those odds are not great imo… In fact I think those odds are horrible, haha.

  12. Jordan 9 years ago

Game 4 and I’m still extremely confused. Warriors even bigger favourites than they were in game 3. Starting to become harder to predict than the lottery numbers on who will win but the bookies still favour the Warriors (thank f*ck).

    Just a small prop tonight.

Andre Iguodala (Warriors) Over (9.5) Points @ 4/5 @ PP

Important information to note. Matthew Dellavedova (Cavaliers) was taken to hospital after game 3 due to due to physical exhaustion and dehydration. Saying this, it will probably have no effect what so ever and he’ll go out and get a triple double because he’s an absolute c-unit :)

  13. Mr. Orange 9 years ago

Cobramint, what Reddevils says. Those odds were horrible, this stage was too easy for the rest of the riders. Froome needs some higher mountains to get a stage win.

however i just cant see lebron and co keeping this up, with such a reduced squad…

im leaning towards thinking it will be a blowout tonight with the warriors winning by 8 or more..

Could possibly be my last NBA bets of the season

Off to Ibiza for a week tomorow for my 21st :)

    NBA bets

Golden State Warriors @ Cleveland Cavaliers

    * Total points over 192.5 @ 10/11

    * Golden State Warriors first half winner @ 5/6

    * Steph Curry 30+ points and GS win @ 11/4

I don’t know him much longer the Cavs can keep this up they have put in an unbelievable effort to be leading the series , I wish I jumped on the GS spread early as im going to stick to my word and say that the warriors WILL still win one of these games in Cleveland , Hopepully they have been watching the tape on the Cavs defence and come up with plays to give steph some open looks as it has been a rarity this series

Will be waiting for ladbrokes to put up the bet on currys 3 point totals aswell , I noticed in the last game they had it set at 4.5 , I have no idea why I didn’t jump on that looked a steal seeing as though most his points come from behind the arc

of course I will also be on Lebrons points when I spot a decent price for it ( paddys currently 8/11 that’s not for me)

Good luck on your bets gents

  18. Picksix 9 years ago

Will probably post this on the football thread aswell

Highly reccomend you have a go at the top team scores in the Copa America lads ,I won what some might say a a large amount of money at the World Cup from this market

Of course not as much choice compared to the World Cup and they are only offering it on 5 teams this time

    Top team scorers

    Messi
    Neymar
    Sanchez
    Cavani

    4 fold @ 10/1

  19. Felix 9 years ago

Baghdatis has converted 1/9 breakpoint opportunities. Brilliant, Baggy, just brilliant.

  21. Jordan 9 years ago

Mlac its a coin flipper and quite frankly I’d rather bet on the lottery numbers. Just can’t predict it mate.

Not sure if you guys have seen Co-rals offer for the Copa America but if you place a £20 single on a top goalscorer, you get a free £5 bet every time they score. Great offer in my eyes and I’ve done Messi and Neymar @ 3/1 & 5/1

  25. Ad 9 years ago

Baghi missed the boat it would seem. Anyone been watching? I might be on Tomic to beat Rafa if he progresses, though he’ll have to play uncharacteristically aggressive to do that. Backing Monfils @ 9’s or Kholi at 5’s for the title might be a better way to go.

  26. Ad 9 years ago

Baghi 70/1 for title ATM, I’ve stuck an optimistic £2 on just to compound my losses from
    This match!

  27. Felix 9 years ago

Yep. Nadal should be losing. Baghdatis just has no bottle on the big points

    • Ad 9 years ago

  28. Hunter 9 years ago

Agree Jordan, think this is a great offer from Coral and I’ll be on Messi!

    Afternoon Guys, Darts World Cup

Holland defend their world cup title in Germany tonight and in my eyes are worthy favourites at 2/1 Skybet. Regulars will know I am a MVG guy and he teams up Raymond van Barneveld for a second time and in the second half of the Premier league no one was in better form than RVB.

There is usually shocks along the way but I cant see past a semi final with Scotland and while world champion Gary Anderson has a good recent record against the dutch duo, partner Peter Wright is not in the form that saw him reach the final of the world championships. An early elimination from the Premier league wouldn’t have done much for his confidence either.

England will have their backers at 19/10 and being in the easier half of the draw but both Taylor and Lewis are not in great form. Taylor is under pressure and some “experts” after his failure to make it to the O2 are starting to write in off, me personally am not and I think he will be a major force in Blackpool next month in a tournament he loves and a format that suits. Denmark then either Japan or China will be straight forward and a potential semi final with Australia if it goes to seeding’s, however I think of the top four the Aussies are most vulnerable to a shock. I like England chances to make the final.

Those who could go close at big prices are Belgium, Spain and Germany and I also think Austria with the Suljovic aka Mr Bean and youngster Rowby-Rodriguez could do damage. A second round showdown with the Germans looks like the tie of the second round.

I think ultimately the cream will rise to the top and I can see a England v Holland final which pays 2/1 William Hill with the Dutch retaining.

NETHERLANDS TO WIN THE WORLD CUP 2/1

    Name The Finalists

    ENGLAND – NETHERLANDS 2/1

Good luck if your having a bet

    Darts World Cup Day 1

The opening night and it worth keeping stakes low as it is a short format and some countries are unknown to even darts fans but there are a couple of value bets I like tonight, starting with the Aussies.

Simon Whitlock & Paul Nicholson team up again and both are struggling for form. Whitlock was left out the premier league and Nicholson has hinted retirement on numerous occasions, the so called “bad boy” doesn’t sit well with a guy who is actually a nice bloke and he is tumbling down the rankings.

Whitlock has struggled in the past 12 months and this is a big year for him, on his day he is one of the top 5 players in the world but is struggling. This could be a spring board for both players to get into a winning habit and go deep in the tournament. They are former finalist and if anywhere near there best they should win at a canter in the doubles. I will take them on the -2.5 handicap at 1/1 Coral.

I have mentioned Austria in my previous post and I like this pair especially the youngster Rowby. He beat Adrian Lewis on tv in the autumn and made it to the world championships losing to Barnveld. The youngster is one to watch in the next few years he is not in Michael Smith or Keegan Browns league yet, but he could be the next young star and he recently won a youth tour event beating young welsh star Jamie Lewis in the final.

I think these two will be to strong for the Czech if they both on song and again for a small stake I will take them on the 2.5 handicap at 6/5 Coral.

    AUSTRALIA -2.5 LEGS 1/1
AUSTRIA -2.5 LEGS 6/5 (SMALL STAKES)

Good luck if your having a bet

Home plate umpire needs to decide where this strike zone is in the Mariners @Indians game, he’s all over the place with his calls.

  36. Jordan 9 years ago

    Iguodala points are 10/11 @ 365

  37. Picksix 9 years ago

Jordan looks like ladbrokes are not putting up that 3 pointer bet but bwin have one although not the best of prices for a 2 way total

    * Steph Curry over 4.5 3 pointers @ 7/10

And fu* it i don’t reay like having this much money riding on one game but I’m probably going to miss he remainder of the finals so..

    * largest lead in the match under 14.5 points @17/20

Hopefully pays off and tbh I’m preety confident on all my picks tonight anyway

    Good luck gents

  38. Jordan 9 years ago

Player to score first 3 point shot

    Klay Thompson @ 4/1 @ Bet-Fair

    • Jordan 9 years ago

      Steph Curry available @ 3/1. £10 on each could see a £40 or £50 return from £20.

  39. Dazzler 9 years ago

Dazid watched the first 4 innings of the Mariners game, due to rain delay in Padres @ Braves. Happ had absolutely no chance. Umpire wasn’t even close to being consistent with the strike zone when Happ was pitching, very lenient with Marcum. Commentators even commented that Happ was trying to find a floating strike zone.

Evening Guys, Leeds Rhinos v Castleford Tigers

The live game comes from Headingley as league leaders Leeds face Cas in what should be a terrific derby match. This fixture last season was 24-24 and was one of the games of the season. The odds are slightly strange in my eyes with Leeds rightly so favourites but they wont be having any of my cash at 1/7.

Leeds have stumbled the last few weeks winning only 2 out their last six. At the magic weekend a fortnight ago they were held pointless in the second half against Wigan and a easy win last week against the worse side in the league may not be the best preparation for a local derby.

Any Castleford fan will tell you this is the fixture they want to win and they have won four of their last six games so come into this in good form. The Tigers were the surprise team last year and they lost some star players, an injury to star winger Carney didn’t help as they struggled in the early part of the season.

In the try scorer market 3 of Leeds outside backs are odds on so I wont be taking any of those, instead I will take a long shot scorer. For the tigers Denny Solomona as come in and replaced Justin Carney and as been superb. He lit up the final game of the magic weekend with 4 tries and he scored again last week against Hull KR. The flyer plays on the outside of captain Michael Shenton and if he gets a yard of space he will be off to the whitewash. He is 1/1 Various.

My longshot punt is Adam Cuthbertson at 7/2 Betfred, he as five tries this season and the big prop is always a danger close to opponents line with his size and offers value against the backs who are all odds on.

As I said Leeds are no value at 1/7 and I am surprised by those odds and more surprised by the 16 point start the tigers are getting. I have seen Cas twice in the past few weeks and been impressed in particular by Luke Gale, if the tigers pack can match up to the rhinos early they have a big chance with Gale pulling the strings. The Tigers will have to defend well against the only team to score 500pts this this season. I think they will be fired up for this local derby and I am going against the bookies and experts, I think 16pts is to big, Cas are no mugs and in Gale they have a gem of a player, I will take the points here. It is 5/6 Paddy Power.

    Main bets

    SOLOMONA TO SCORE 1/1
    CASTLEFORD +16PTS 5/6

    Longshot scorer (Small stakes)

    CUTHBERTSON 7/2

Good luck if your having a bet

The standard of darts is terrible in this World Cup of Darts but it’s worth suffering through it to see who to back in the second round matches as it’s difficult to find value here, I’ve just done a massive acca on all the fav’s.

    • thechief 9 years ago

Scuzzle, it usually is mate because of the countries involved, not my favourite tournament but if Germany win later which they should then a match with Austria should be good. Quarter finals were it gets going with singles and pairs.

    NBA SPECIAL

    LeBron Vs Curry

Can it be 3 in a row with the special!?! The first spread was set at -4.5 which was just ridiculously generous. The second was set at -7.5 which was still generous in it’s own right. This time they’ve gone with -10.5. I think they’re closer to the mark here but the way the Beast is playing, I think it’s still worth getting on.

I don’t think I’ll be putting up such a hefty stake! Although I didn’t get time to put any bets up today, I made some good profit from the Women’s Eurobasket (keep an eye out for this competition, could be a goldmine) with spreads on Montenegro and Russia both landing. The profits from these games will be willingly placed on this special!

Betway are also offering an interesting alternative in J.R Smith Vs Clay Thompson, with the latter being set at -7.5, I Personally think Thompson can cover this but it’s still not for me!

    LeBron -10.5 @ 17/20 Betway (medium stake)

    Good luck lads!

  53. Jordan 9 years ago

Warriors -4? Wtf!? There are some brave punters out there.

Jordan, picksix, huggy, hunter, anyone think its worth backing Cavs at hf time 13/10 or +2 at 10/11 as they’ve taken all 3 of the first halves so far?

Dazzler sorry mate but I just have no idea at what will happen in this series now haha. I’m going with props only as it doesn’t affect the result of the game. Literally can’t tell you who will win, who’ll be leading at HT, who’ll be the first to chest bump.

    • huggybear 9 years ago

      s curry . chest bump 1/ 6

  65. Hunter 9 years ago

Dazzler, not sure what the other guys think but I just can’t call these spreads never mind the ML. I personally think the props are the safer option!

  66. Picksix 9 years ago

Was goin to say the same thing about BV not really a site I use but they have a wide variety of bets on there

They have a bet on there with delly to outscore green at 4/5 im thinking of taking it

Dazzler I have gone with GS to win the first half mate I feel they are going to have to start well to win otherwise they will be chasing and make desperate shots behind the arc while at the same time the Cavs keeping the score ticking over wich has happened the pass 2 games , tbh though it’s such a tight game to call it could go either way buddy

  67. Jordan 9 years ago

Hahaha prob not a bad shout Huggy! Another bet I fancy is Steph Curry to chew his gum shield like Sir Alex Ferguson and his Wrigleys during every timeout/free throw @ 1/1000 @ Nowhere.

Cheers lads. Obviously with me not knowing anything about NBA was just a ‘stat’ I noticed and the odds were tempting!

Read an interesting article on espn about how you can’t overachieve and Lebron is just making sure other players are giving 100% and don’t fail. I kind of like that concept!

I’ll keep my money in my pocket then, but good luck everyone tonight. I’ve not backed anything on the NBA this season but if ya’ll here next season I most certainly will be!

  70. paul 9 years ago

Gsw will break the 100 barrier after last 2. Its gsw ny 7 for me

  71. Jordan 9 years ago

Oh I’ll be here mate haha

  72. Jordan 9 years ago

    Especially when NFL starts.

  73. thechief 9 years ago

5 tips 5 winners tonight on Rugby and Darts

    AUSTRALIA -2.5 LEGS 1/1 WON :D
    AUSTRIA -2.5 LEGS 6/5 WON :D

Australia was the main tip, and smaller stakes advised on Austria but its a good start to world cup :)

  74. Dazzler 9 years ago

Jordan was here watching your NFL last season so will be following you this season, unless it’s against my Cowboys lol.

  75. Picksix 9 years ago

Top stuff thechief well done mate

Lebron 8/11 for playoff MVP ?

Debating on this one, we all need the Warriors to win the series and I still think they might ,the MVP always goes to the player on the winning side , only once has it been awarded to a player on the losing team , even if the Cavs lose the series I think he will be 2nd man to get it

  76. Picksix 9 years ago

Jordan only a few months to go and the goldmine starts , already got my outrights for it you will be happy who I have gone for aswell

Dazzler u an NFL fan ?

  77. Juan 9 years ago

Belgium to beat Australia in 2nd round of the darts, Huybrechts brothers solid as a rock Aussie guys are woefully out of form

    • thechief 9 years ago

Juan, Ronny wasn’t that great either, so it could go to the pairs to decide the outcome. I said earlier out the top 4 seeds Aussies are the most vulnerable to me.

  78. Jordan 9 years ago

Dazzler I’m a realist, if I think there’s a bet to be won even against my team I’ll take it. Not in football as I could never bet against United, but as I’ve only been involved in NFL for 3/4 of last season I’m yet to be attached to the Packers too much, but my cardboard cutout Aaron Rodgers might say otherwise (kidding). I’m sure they’ll be bets against Jerry and the Cowboys, but if Peterson goes to you I’ll probably be taking him as the most rushing yards this season. Counting down the days!

    Well done tonight chief mate.

  79. Jordan 9 years ago

Picksix I took the Packers @ 9’s EW @ 1/2 the odds in February for the SB :D

Can’t wait for the chiefs thoughts but he will keep us waiting until the start of the regular season for his thoughts.

Saw the other day that Antonio Brown has added 5 pounds of muscle. Waiting for the spread of that Steelers/Patriots game but I think the bookies are waiting on Le’Veon Bell to appeal his cannabis charge. Jimmy Garoppolo vs Ben Roethlisberger hahahaha, supposedly Garoppolo is throwing INT’s for fun in practice.

  80. Dazzler 9 years ago

Picksix it’s my favourite sport! Couldn’t pick a thing though! Too emotionally involved, so my Super Bowl tip is Cowboys @ 21.00 William Hill ha ha.
    NFC EAST Winners
    Cowboys @ 2.50 (only £20 coz I don’t do futures lol)

  81. Dazzler 9 years ago

Jordan I’m United too. Never back them. The most I’ll stretch to is batts and O2.5 lol

  82. thechief 9 years ago

    Picksix, Jordan cheers guys

Dazzler, I have more chance of going to the superbowl than Cowboys with McFatten running the ball :)

  83. Juan 9 years ago

Did someone mention Atlanta Dream a few days ago? I see they are playing soon

  84. Juan 9 years ago

I just think if it comes down to the wire id rather have my money on any Huybrechts to hit a pressure double over the Aussies

  85. Picksix 9 years ago

Jordan I got them @ 8/1 mate although It hurts me betting against the Hawks , rodgers WILL win another Super Bowl without a doubt and I fancy there chances next season

Also have the colts EW @ 18/1

Colts v packers Super Bowl with the packers winning is the reason behind that one

Also this one wich I have gone big on wich think is an absolute steal

New orlean saints under 9.5 regular season wins @ 10/11

The spread is out for the steelers pats game mate
    Steelers + 2.5 definety worth a go

  86. Picksix 9 years ago

Juan that was me mate I posted a bet the other day sparks +6.5 there starting now , I should have reposted it earlier

    • Jordan 9 years ago

      Where???

  87. Picksix 9 years ago
  88. Picksix 9 years ago

Lol why did I say sparks it’s the stars

  89. Dazzler 9 years ago

Jordan I’ll believe Peterson when I see it! Not sure how he would affect us salary cap wise, without looking into it I would think there would be a few trades involved.

Chief I didn’t think we would do as well as we did last season ,so all my nfl futures come with the explicit warning that they are there out of hopes and prayers only ha ha.

Even if we got to Super Bowl Romo would bottle it anyway!

  90. Juan 9 years ago

Good start anyway! Small bet on them +5.5

  91. Jordan 9 years ago

So it is. I am on that with or without Bell in the Steelers line up.

  92. thechief 9 years ago

Minnesota Vikings are one of my 3 dark horses to make the playoffs this season, I think they will give Green Bay a run for their money in the North. Bridgewater is a up and coming QB, Wallace gives them a deep threat, defence is pretty good and their draft picks were solid. I cant see the AP trade being done unless they lose the opening few games and decide to cash in for draft picks for next season.

The forgotten guy is Ray Rice, the Baltimore RB, he is a ball catching RB, and bar is last troubled season he had 3 previous season rushing for over 1,000yds. He would improve any team, I wouldn’t be surprised if sugar ray rather than all day ends up in Dallas.

  93. Picksix 9 years ago

The ATL dream are all over the place I would compare them to the Spurs in the men’s game as they are a good team but they are coached by isiah Thomas the man who made the knicks a playoff team to absolute sh*t he’s the worst coach in the planet and there’s a lot of other things aswell

Il see if I can find the write up I posted a few days ago

It’s definetely worth backing against the dream

  94. Jordan 9 years ago

Lee will be happy with that chief ;) It’s a good shout though I was impressed with Teddy in the second half of the season. Haven’t seen much of Rice but if he can play like he can punch his Mrs then he must be a player haha (sorry). Wallace definately a good signing though. So many players I’m looking forward to seeing what they can do. Kevin White. Amari Cooper, Melvin Gordon, Jameis Winston, Marcus Mariota. NFL has literally overtaken any love of sport I’ve ever had. So thanks for that haha, Madden 16 already pre ordered :)

  95. Picksix 9 years ago

Agree with you there chief i think they can be dark horses too they have a good defence and have the most underated secondary in the league , Harrison smith is as good a safety I’ve seen and now with Wayne’s and Rhodes those are strong corners to have

I’ve also heard there getting Mathis who’s been released by the Eagles that would be a good pickup if they could get him

  96. Dazzler 9 years ago

    Jordan, Chief

Peterson or Rice would fill gaps in the Dallas line up but how much they would cost, we definitely can’t afford both .

Personally I don’t want Rice. I’ve seen the video, it’s not all his fault but on another day in another place he could have killed her.

A federal court ruled Peterson’s suspension was An incorrect punishment and the only reason that he served so long was because of an appeal by the NFL.

Either would be an asset but I hope Jerry can see my point. I doubt it though.

  97. thechief 9 years ago

No problem mate, the more the merrier for me, this thread is the best and most chilled for me, especially for sharing thoughts and suggestions during the NFL season. Ray Rice can certainly “punch the hole” :)

I agree so many offensive guys taken this year early proving that it is a passing league, Cooper going to Oakland is a shame but the bad teams get the good collage guys. I’m personally looking forward to Todd Gurley if he stays fit he is the new beast mode.

  98. Jordan 9 years ago

Cooper is exactly what Oakland need though. He excels in route running and him and Carr will be a great pairing in a couple years. Hate talking about it because we’re still 90 odd days away yet haha

  99. Picksix 9 years ago

I think AP will stay with the Vikings , dazzler with the line you guys have I don’t think a highly priced Running back like rice or peterson is really worth it, jerry should have went in for spiller or vereen of course not the best running backs in the world but a step above McFadden certainly

  100. thechief 9 years ago

Dazzler, it will only be one mate, I think if the AP deal was going to get done it would have been done by now, Rice is a free agent, I would have gambled on Chris Johnson rather than McFadden, but then again I would have kept Murray and traded up in the draft as it was a deep WR class this year.

  101. Picksix 9 years ago

    The chief

There is only one beat mode haha

  102. Picksix 9 years ago

    Beast mode

  103. Jordan 9 years ago

I think Jerry could sign me and I’d get 1000 rushing yards behind that o line :D

  104. thechief 9 years ago

Agree but Cooper is Class and Oakland are NOT, its like Messi being signed by Oldham Athletic :)

  105. Dazzler 9 years ago

Picksix he didn’t pick Jonny Football last year so Jerry will be itching for big name this year.

Chief I believe the problem with Murray was money more than anything, not that I wanted him to go. He made Romo look good on more than a few occasions!

I don’t think we’ll get Rice either, again due to money. There are other teams he can go for more salary and he’ll probably stand out better elsewhere.

  106. thechief 9 years ago

    Haha the Beast mode game

    Seattle v St Louis

    Lynch v Gurley

    Old v New

If Gurley stays fit he could be a beast this season :)

Goodnight Guys, good luck with your over night bets

  107. Picksix 9 years ago

Dazzler you’re right he’s very flash like that, at least dez is still there murrays a massive blow and I’m sure also it was to do with the money as you know there’s very little loyalty in the NFL

  108. Jordan 9 years ago

Haha pretty good comparison there chief.

Dazzler, Johnny Football? Big name? Lets not be silly now. He’s the Balotelli of the NFL :D

  109. Dazzler 9 years ago

Sorry Jordan I meant in terms of the draft. last years draft there was talk about him replacing Romo, really talk.
I watched a few of his games and a few videos on YouTube and I thought it was quite clear that he wasn’t NFL ready. But Jerry was serious about him because of the hype around his name! That’s just the type of guy Jerry is, he’ll feel the need to sign a name this year, for colum inches, regardless of the effect it will have on the team.

  110. Dazzler 9 years ago

Picksix I love Dez, he gives 100% and you can see that when he plays. I would say he’s the heart of the team at the moment.

  111. winnerallright 9 years ago

wow cavs +4 @evs…. il be having a piece of that then!!!!!

  112. Jordan 9 years ago

    Iguodala starts :D

  120. Jordan 9 years ago

Picksix good start mate the small ball is working well

  121. Picksix 9 years ago

Lol to be fair jordy is one of the most underated players I’ve seen , I rate him highly, dez or calvin for me though , beckham has the potential to be the best will be a big season for him , one of the greatest talents I’ve seen

  122. Jordan 9 years ago

OBJ will be my bet for most receiving yards without a doubt

  123. Picksix 9 years ago

Jordan I seen an interview with Steve Kerr yesterday saying that the Warriors were not able to put in enough hours watching game tape before game 3 due to media loyalts and whatever,
He said this time they have had a good look hopefully he’s right
